A 15-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a newborn baby was found dead. Police were called to the house in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, on March 24 following concerns for the tot's welfare and tragically discovered a body.
The schoolgirl was arrested and later released on police bail.
Police Commander for Herefordshire, Superintendent Sue Thomas said: "Police were called at around 8.40am on Sunday, 24 March to reports of a concern for welfare for a newborn baby at a property in Ross-on-Wye.
"On attendance, the body of a baby was discovered.
"The baby's next of kin and the coroner have been informed.
"The death is being treated as suspicious and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the baby's death.
"A 15-year-old girl from Ross-on-Wye has been arrested in connection with this incident and has been released on police bail while investigations are ongoing."
A man who blew the whistle of a planned marriage of a 12-year-old girl to a man almost twice her age is living in fear after receiving threats from the minor’s family.
According to the whistle blower, a 30-year-old man who hails from Tanzania was to marry the girl on Saturday in an event that was to take place in Rongai and then relocate to his country.
No one has been arrested despite police having all the information of the child’s relatives.
Children’s advocates are blaming the area chief and say that he is collaborating with the family and no one knows were the girl is.
The man who blew the whistle says he had to seek refuge at a friend’s house after he was threatened.
“I was told that I should not show my face at Ole Kasasi and I should relocate and if they see me near the area they would slaughter me,” he said.
He added that the girl’s relatives promised to ‘kill and eat him’ so that there would be no evidence to identify who he was.
In a video that was recorded secretly, some relatives are heard making plans on how to change the young girl’s age from 12 to 17 years so that she can be married off.
A human skull and a handful of torn clothes were all that remained of a rhino poacher who police in South Africa believe was trampled by elephants and eaten by lions.
Photos of the scene released by the South African Police Service revealed a shredded rag lying in grass.
The force also tweeted images of rifles and ammunition seized from a group accused of poaching with the man.
Kruger authorities say lions mauled the corpse of the unnamed dead man after he was killed by the elephants in the big game reserve, leaving "very little remains."
Two people were arrested and the pictured artillery seized after the grisly incident in the world-famous Kruger National Park on April 1, local time.
Authorities said earlier it is believed a group of men alarmed the elephant which then charged at the group near Crocodile Bridge, deep in the reserve.
A pride of lions is then believed to have mauled the man's remains.
Kruger authorities said the victim had two young daughters.
Glenn Phillips, managing executive of the reserve, said earlier: "Entering the Kruger illegally and on foot is not wise as it holds very many dangers and this incident is clear evidence of that.
"It was very sad to see the daughters of the deceased man mourning the loss of their father, and worse still, only being able to recover very little of his remains."
The Kruger National Park is South Africa's largest reserve in the country, covering more than 12,000 square miles.
It is home to rhinos, elephants, buffalo, lions and leopards.

In the surveillance video, you clearly see Nipsey -- who was wearing a white bandana -- raise his head after the initial shots were fired. You can also see Holder approach Nipsey while he lay on the ground, fire more shots, back off, fire again and kick him before running into an alley.
Holder was arrested in Los Angeles Tuesday and has since been charged with 1 count of murder, 2 counts of attempted murder and 1 count of possession of a firearm by a felon. His bond is $5 million. An unidentified female who drove Holder away from the crime scene was questioned and released.
Holder is scheduled to be back in court May 10, and remains in solitary out of fear he'll be killed by other inmates

Fighting for control of the Libyan capital escalated dramatically on Monday when rebel forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar carried out an airstrike on city's only operating airport.
The attack came amid reports that the internationally recognised government of National Accord led by Fayyez al-Sarraj had begun conscripting migrants held in detention centres to fight against Gen Haftar's troops.
At least one jet was seen firing rockets at the Mitiga airport in northern Tripoli on Monday afternoon. The airport said it would be closed for the foreseeable future.
No casualties were reported. At least 2,800 people have been displaced since Gen Haftar’s self-styled Libyan National Army launched an assault on Tripoli last week.

The Supreme Court on Monday struck out the suit filed by Senator Magnus Abe on the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.
The Apex court, In a unanimous judgment read on Monday by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Ibrahim Mohammed, dismissed the application on the ground that it lacked merit.
According to the court, the suit is incompetent and a gross violation of order 2 rule 8 of the supreme court rules.
It held that once a notice of appeal has been found defective, it cannot be amended.
Nigeria’s ex-international, Christian Chukwu is reportedly battling prostate cancer, which had seen him had surgery five days ago. Norbert Okonkwo, media officer of Enugu Rangers said that Chukwu had a successful leg surgery five days ago.
According to Okonkwo, “Christian Chukwu has prostate cancer which affected his leg. He had an operation last week and discharged on Thursday but went to stay in a hotel on doctor’s advise to avoid being disturbed by visitors.
“The doctor made this suggestion so that he can recuperate on time. I can confirm to you that Rangers got to know about his situation three weeks ago because the family said they don’t want it in public space”.
He explained that the club management alerted the governor of Enugu State about the situation, and that the governor gave cash for his treatment.
“Rangers management made a quick appointment to see the Enugu state governor which was granted and his excellency gave a million and half for his treatment. Rangers management also have been supportive ever since then. Rangers never abandoned him.”
According to TheCable, Chukwu a former player and technical adviser of the Rangers International had a seven hundred naira (N700,000) monthly take home from the club.
Early reports on the health challenges of Chukwu revealed that there was need to raise the sum of $50,000 for his round trip to the United States, surgery, medication and general after-surgery care.

As reported earlier, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday met behind closed doors with former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume. He is aspiring to be President of the 9th Senate due for inauguration in June.

Report has it that the Nigerian woman pictured above, simply identified as Joy, has been declared wanted over alleged human trafficking and pros-titution.
According to journalist Sapele Oghenek, the suspect has been responsible for trafficking girls in Delta state and other parts of the country after promising to take them to Europe to work.

A British woman is facing two years in jail in Dubai for allegedly using disparaging language about her ex-husband’s new wife on Facebook, campaigners have claimed.
Laleh Shahravesh, 55, of Richmond, south-west London, was arrested together with her teenage daughter at Dubai airport in March. She faces up to two years in jail and a fine of £50,000 for two Facebook posts she made while living in the UK in 2016, according to the Detained In Dubai campaign group.
They had been visiting Dubai for her ex-husband’s funeral after he died from a heart attack on 3 March, campaigners say.
Her 14-year-old daughter was later allowed to fly home alone and is staying with relatives.
A Foreign Office spokesman said its staff are supporting a British woman and her family following her detention in the United Arab Emirates.
The spokesman added: “We are in contact with the UAE authorities regarding her case.”
Shahravesh had been married to her ex-husband for 18 years and the couple had lived in Dubai for an eight-month period.
She had returned to London with their daughter, while her husband stayed in the United Arab Emirates with a plan that he would join them later.
Shahravesh received divorce papers a few months later and, soon after that, saw photographs on Facebook which said that her husband had remarried, the campaigners say.
It was then that she allegedly posted two online comments which were written in Farsi, including one which stated: “I hope you go under the ground you idiot. Damn you.”
She then allegedly made a disparaging remark about the new wife.
Radha Stirling, who is the Detained In Dubai chief executive and is also representing Shahravesh, said the experience was “heartbreaking” for her client’s family.
Shahravesh’s daughter is writing a letter to the ruler of Dubai and prime minister of the UAE to appeal for her mother’s release.
Stirling added: “Every family member was teary and it was very emotional to speak with all of them.
“They are all extremely damaged by what has happened and I expect it will be a long and psychological recovery process for them.”
Shahravesh had been bailed and was currently staying in a hotel after her passport was confiscated, according to the BBC.
