Woman Hires Thugs To Beat Her Husband After Quarrel ...they beat him to death (Photo)

Security operatives have arrested a Nigerian woman for allegedly hiring thugs who beat her husband to death for slapping [her during a quarrel]. Bernard Ufuoma, who is a friend to the deceased shared the story on Facebook, lamenting over the man's death. Read the story:

"My friend and Pharmacist allegedly killed by the wife...
Alloy my amiable friend and health provider is dead. I met Alloy in 2009 when I moved to the Oyigbo Expressway axis of Port Harcourt and we were friends at first sight. Alloy is from Eheme Mbano and the owner of the biggest pharmacy at the Oyigbo Expressway axis.

I can remember vividly our first day of meeting. I had a stubborn cough and have been to the Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital but was still coughing. Alloy listened to the dry irritating cough and prescribed Beehive Honey cough syrup and some antibiotics and I was relieved.

Alloy and I became friends and over the years I bought my drugs and toiletries from him and we hanged out with a bottle of wine and pepper soup from time to time.

Alloy is blessed with an affable wife and four beautiful kids. He’s quite comfortable and travels abroad several times a year for fun and business.

Trouble started when Alloy’s older sister had accommodation crisis and she had to move in with the Alloys. Alloy’s wife vehemently refused that the sister stay in the guest house. Alloy’s house is a three bedroom bungalow with a two bedroom guest house behind.

The guest house is vacant but his wife insisted that the sister and kids should keep their properties there but sleep in the sitting room of the bungalow. Alloy pleaded with her to allow the sister stay in the guest house but the wife refused insisting that staying in the guest house would make her stay permanently with them and that sleeping in the living room will make her aware she’s a guest.

Alloy registered the wife in a gym as she was getting out of shape and the schedule was three days in a week. Since January this year she goes to the gym daily. This is a woman Alloy bought a 2013 Toyota Corolla sedan for and gives a handsome monthly allowance.

She lacks for nothing. Monday to Saturday she’ll never be at home obviously staying away from the house because of Alloy’s older sister. Alloy had gotten an estate agent to look for a two bedroom apartment for her.

Anyway on April 1st Alloy went to the gym to see her personal trainer and asked why the change of schedule and why the wife will be at the gym six days in the week. The gym management denied any change of schedule and insisted that she only comes to the gym three days a week.

When Alloy got home he confronted his wife.

” I was at the gym today and I was told you only go there three days in a week. Why are you lying? Why do you go the other days?”

“So, it has reached this stage where you are monitoring me?” the wife shot back.

“Tell me what’s happening or are you cheating on me?” Alloy angrily demanded.

“You’re calling me a harlot abi? You yeye man”.

The wife lurched at Alloy and held him in the neck and Alloy wriggled himself out of her grip and slapped her. Immediately Alloy knelt down begging her.

“I’m sorry for slapping you. In twelve years of marriage I have never hit you. You were choking me and I was losing my breath. Abeg.”

“I’ll never forgive you. Useless man. I’ll deal with you. You’ll know I’m an Umuahia woman”.

Alloy’s older sister and Alloy’s pastor from Redeemed Church were called by Alloy to beg her but she was still fuming and baying for blood.

The next day as Alloy was driving to the gate of his compound at about 6pm in the evening four young men intercepted him and dragged him out of his Toyota Prado SUV and one of them said, “So, you are not afraid. You beat up our sister. We’ll deal with you.”

The four miscreants beat Alloy black and blue. They kicked him in the ribs and groin. At the screams of Alloy neighbors ran to the scene and the criminals fled. Alloy was rushed to the hospital and given treatment and discharged from the hospital around 10pm same day.

Alloy called me the next day and I drove down to see him at the pharmacy and he narrated the ordeal he suffered at the hands of the hoodlums the previous day. He wasn’t looking too good but I never feared that the beatings he received would be fatal.

This morning Alloy woke up with a headache and a cough producing blood. He drove himself to the hospital. After a series of tests internal bleeding was diagnosed. Surgery was recommended but before he could be taken to the theater for anaesthesia and shaving he slumped and died exactly 3:36pm.

Alloy is dead. The wife has been arrested and handcuffed by the police and investigations have commenced into the death of Alloy."

A Woman Will Take Over From Buhari - Amina Mohammed

Amina Mohammed, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, has said a woman will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. She said this on Saturday at the Mo Ibrahim governance weekend in Abidjan, stating that she will be a campaign manager for the said woman.

In conversation with Mo Ibrahim, Amina Mohammed was asked when Nigeria will have a female president, she replied saying: “2023, Insha Allah”.

The former minister of environment was further asked if she would be running, she said: “Look, all of my life has been as a public servant and as one that serves, so that is not a problem for me.”

“But let me be truthful here, I have always thought that I am appointable and not electable. I think the political system that we have in our country, I believe in democracy, but I think the model for us, where we are is an incredibly difficult environment to say you would come to office through the will of the people.

“I think the manipulation of democracy is a very serious issue in our countries. We have a population, as I said, has a level of literacy that can be manipulated, that is not right.”

Those Plotting To Impose A Speaker Will Fail - Dogara

Speaker of House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara, has warned that the leadership of the ninth National Assembly should be allowed to emerge from elected parliamentarians.

Dogara said a leadership that is forced will fail. He noted that a situation where “leadership is forced and literally driven down the throat of elected members had never endured in the National Assembly.”

The Speaker spoke in Abuja at the ongoing induction of Senators-elect and House of Representatives members-elect of the ninth National Assembly.

He advised Senators-elect and House of Representatives members-elect to look out for those who have thrown themselves into the race to see who will aggregate their aspirations better.

The least legislators could afford in the National Assembly, he said, is crisis on account of the leadership.

Insisting that “I hope we will learn from history”, Dogara noted that leadership imposed on the National Assembly has never worked.

Dogara said, “Well, I guess that it is not a subject matter you may want just to offer an advice on because we are all parliamentarians, those that have been elected, we will be here for four years to serve the people. Leadership is always something that emerges from people.

“Some of us that have been a bit old in the field, we know how that is done. My advice is that we stay calm to understand the people going in for these positions of leadership in the National Assembly.
“At the end of the day we are praying that we have those leaders who will be able to sustain what we have done in the Eight Assembly or even surpass what we have done. We don’t want leadership that will take us back.

“We have made a lot of mileage and we hope that we will be able to get the kind of leadership that will build on the achievements of this Assembly which is unparalleled in our legislative history.

“I will advise members to actually look out for those who have thrown themselves into the race to see who is it that will aggregate their aspirations better and then will be able to surpass the record of this Assembly."

Okorocha Speaks On His Bid For The Senate

Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, Monday gave hint why he wants to go to National Assembly as the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial zone. He said that he wants to build a strong political bridge between the Southeast and other geopolitical zones of the country.

The governor also hinted that he would pursue the policy of
Free Education at the National Assembly “so that the children of the poorest in the society would have hope of survival in Nigeria”.

According to him, “I also want to use the opportunity in the Senate to rebuild the Political Bridge that has linked the South East with the rest of Nigerians. The Political Bridge is somehow faulty and it is dutifully incumbent on me to rebuild this bridge so that Igbos will play a recognized role in the Politics of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

He continued that “I am going to the Senate to promote the course of ordinary Nigerians. These are some of the things I am going to the Senate to do. Otherwise, I have no business there”.

Update On Fire Incident At Imo State Airport

There was panic on Monday as fire gutted the arrival section of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, the Imo State capital. The cause of the inferno was not immediately known, but a source at the airport said there was an ongoing renovation of the arrival area, which was razed.

It gathered that the inferno, which raged for about 50 minutes, started around 2.10pm. It took the spirited efforts from men of the fire service and airport workers to extinguish the fire.

A source said, “It was a mysterious fire outbreak.
It happened at the arrival section of the airport, where the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria is carrying out renovation work.

“It would have wreaked more havoc but for the timely arrival of men of the fire service. The inferno started around 2.10pm and raged for about 50 minutes. It damaged equipment and infrastructure, but the rescue work helped in restricting the damage.”

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, said he had yet to be briefed about the incident.

However, FAAN said it had commenced investigation into the fire incident.

The General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, said the inferno, which affected some parts of the terminal building, started around 2pm but was curtailed by officers of the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Department of the agency.

“The authority has commenced preliminary investigation into the cause of the incident. There was no casualty and normal operations have since resumed at the airport,” she said.

Gbajabiamila Lobbies PDP Despite Tinubu's Threat To APC Lawmakers

Looks like the threat by APC national leader, Bola Tinubu that any APC lawmaker who can't support the choice of the party should leave is not working. Others are still indicating their interest.

The Majority Leader of the House Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has thus intensified his campaign for the speakership of the ninth National Assembly, reaching out to the PDP.

A member of Gbajabiamila’s camp in the House told The Punch that plot by the opposition to cause conflicts in the APC caucus had been uncovered, leading to a counter-move by the speakership aspirant.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the game plan, disclosed that part of the tactics by the minority group was to sponsor various aspirants in the majority APC caucus to deplete the votes of Gbajabiamila at the speakership election.

No fewer than 170 lawmakers, including four co-aspirants and many PDP and opposition members had attended Gbajabiamila’s official declaration ceremony, where they pledged their support for his emergence as speaker.

Explaining the saga, the source said, “Go and watch all those who are campaigning against Gbajabiamila, they are those who voted for Dogara in 2015 and they still belong to that camp. And they held a meeting where it was planned that all of them should crowd the race; that they should run, spend money, do everything and not step down; so that at the end of the day, they will split the APC votes and nominate a candidate favourable to the PDP.

“But not all the APC members will work for Gbajabiamila and not all the PDP lawmakers will work against him. Gbajabiamila is also poaching members of the opposition and he seems to be the aspirant with the biggest offer and most massive moves for now. This is because he seems to have a clear picture of where he is going, unlike other aspirants who are still waiting for the party’s zoning formula. And this is also because the deputy speakership will go to either the North-Central or the North-East.”

Already, 16 lawmakers had declared interest in the speakership and one eyeing the deputy speaker seat. However, four aspirants had stepped down for Gbajabiamila. They are now lobbying for positions of deputy speaker and the majority leader.

The source disclosed that three of the four aspirants who stepped down for Gbajabiamila were considering succeeding him as the Majority Leader. They are Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Kawu Sumaila and Mohammed Monguno.

Last week, a source in the camp of the Deputy Majority Leader and speakership aspirant, Mr Idris Wase (Plateau, North-Central), disclosed that some officials in the Presidency, governors and leaders of the APC had intervened in the struggle for the leadership of the 9th National Assembly.

The source said, “The position is that the speakership and deputy speakership positions are going to be zoned to the South-West and North-Central. That has been finalised. Femi and Wase are going to work together and form a pact, so that whatever is decided, both of them will agree.”

But an aspirant from Niger State, Umar Bago said the zone would not accept a deputy speakership offer. Asked if he would accept the offer as proposed at the meeting between governors and Wase at the Presidential Villa, Bago said, “No.”

He added, “If we have contributed like we have contributed to get the APC to where it is today – to secure a second term in government – that means we are not renegades in this arrangement. The reason is not far-fetched; we gave more votes than the South-West that has the Vice-President (Yemi Osinbajo) already. What is the rationale behind taking away what is due to our people? It is not about me, it is about my zone.

“We are not compromising; I personally will not compromise for deputy speakership. I am saying, ‘give to the North-Central what is due to the North-Central.’ The only compromise is if the party zones it to the South-East or South-South; then, I will play along, but not to the South-West.”

Next Level: Nigeria's Economy Slipping – World Bank

The World Bank said that the Nigerian economy has been slipping since 1995 and this continued till 2018.

The bank, in its latest report on the regional economy titled, ‘Africa’s Pulse’, released the taxonomy of growth performance in sub-Saharan Africa, which focused on the macroeconomic and financial features that led to growth resilience on the continent.

According to the bank, the taxonomy is used to help identify the factors that are correlated with success or failure in economic growth performance in sub-Saharan Africa, with emphasis on macroeconomic and financial variables.

The analysis, it said, involved a series of macroeconomic variables for 44 sub-Saharan African countries from 1995 to 2018.

The key elements that determined the positions of each of the 44 sub-Saharan economies in the taxonomy, the World Bank said, included the level of income per capita of the countries; structural transformation, as captured by sectoral value-added share and sectoral employment share; and capital flows.

Others are level and composition of public sector indebtedness, as captured by the general government gross debt and its currency composition, and the outstanding external public debt.

The last of the indicators has to do with governance vis-a-vis government effectiveness, regulatory quality, control of corruption, voice and accountability, political stability, and absence of violence and rule of law.

According to the World Bank, the taxonomy compares the average annual GDP growth rates during 1995–2008 and 2015–2018 against predetermined thresholds.

It also categorised growth performance into five groups: falling behind, slipping, stuck in the middle, improved, and established. The five groups were further reclassified into three groups: Top tercile, middle tercile and bottom tercile.

The Bretton Wood institution said, “If a country’s economic performance declined from 1995–2008 to 2015–18, the country is categorised in the bottom tercile, which includes ‘falling behind’ and ‘slipping.’ If a country’s growth rate remained invariant over time, between 3.5 and 5.4 per cent in both periods, it is categorised in the middle tercile (or stuck in the middle). If a country’s economic performance improved from 1995–2008 to 2015–18, with the growth of more than 5.4 per cent per year, the country is categorised in the top tercile, which includes the ‘improved’ and ‘established’ groups.”

Based on the above classification, the Nigerian economy was categorised alongside 18 other sub-Saharan African economies as slipping having recorded declined economic performance between 1995 and 2018.

The World Bank said, “The bottom tercile consists of 19 countries: Angola, Burundi, Botswana, the Republic of Congo, the Comoros , Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Lesotho, Mauritania, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Eswatini, Chad, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. These countries did not show any progress in their economic performance from 1995–2008 to 2015–2018. For instance, their median economic growth rate decelerated, from 5.4 per cent per year in 1995–2008 to 1.2 per cent per year in 2015–18.”

The bottom performing economies, according to the World Bank, produce almost 60 per cent of the region’s total GDP, emphasising that the three largest countries in the region - Nigeria, South Africa, and Angola - and many commodity exporters are in this group.

Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Mali, Rwanda, Senegal, and Tanzania made the top tercile.

The middle tercile countries are Benin, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, the

Democratic Republic of Congo, Cabo Verde, The Gambia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Mauritius, Niger, Sudan, São Tomé and Príncipe, Togo, and Uganda.

The World Bank also cut its growth forecast for sub-Saharan Africa this year to 2.8 per cent from an initial 3.3 per cent.

The commodity price slump of 2015 cut short a decade of rapid growth for the region, and the bank said growth would take longer to recover as a decline in industrial production and a trade dispute between China and the United States take their toll.

The bank’s 2019 forecast means economic growth will lag population growth for the fourth year in a row and it will remain stuck below three per cent, which it slipped to in 2015.

“The slower-than-expected overall growth reflects ongoing global uncertainty, but increasingly comes from domestic macroeconomic instability including poorly managed debt, inflation and deficits,” the bank said.

The Bretton Wood institution equally cut Nigeria’s growth forecast by 0.1 per cent.

It said, “Growth in Nigeria is projected to rise from 1.9 per cent in 2018 to 2.1 per cent in 2019 (0.1 percentage point lower than last October’s forecast).

“This modest expansion reflects stagnant oil production, as regulatory uncertainty limits investment in the oil sector, while non-oil economic activity is held back by high inflation, policy distortions, and infrastructure constraints.

“Growth is projected to rise slightly to 2.2 per cent in 2020 and reach 2.4 per cent in 2021, as improving financing conditions help boost investment.

“In Nigeria, although the manufacturing and non-manufacturing PMIs remained above the neutral 50-point mark - which denotes expansion - they fell further in February, due to weaker rises in output and new sales orders across firms.

“Household consumption in Nigeria has remained subdued, while multiple exchange rates, foreign exchange restrictions, low private sector credit growth, and infrastructure constraints have continued to weigh on private investment.”

The Chief Economist for Africa at the bank, Albert Zeufack, said the region could boost annual growth by about nearly two percentage points if it harnessed Information Technology more effectively. “This is a game-changer for Africa,” he added.

However, the spokesperson for the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Isaac Okorafor, said the CBN under the current governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, had shown so much ingenuity in managing the economy.

“You know the crisis that we have faced in the past three years. The bank has shown ingenuity in managing the situation and ensuring that everything is stable.”

Nigerian Doctor Vows Not To Treat Any Policeman After Bitter Experience With Them

A doctor identified as Dr Clairvoyant on Twitter has taken to the platform to narrate his bitter experience with the Police and how he has vowed never to treat any policeman brought to his clinic.

Read the story of his sad experience with the police:

"In 2015, my Late grand mother was kidnapped from her home in Imo State, my dad reported the matter to the police state HQ in Owerri after paying 5k, he also paid 25k for the fueling and mobilization of the anti kidnapping unit. Along the way, their vehicle tire blew up

They requested he buys a new tire which he did. On getting to the scene of the crime, these barbaric police men went raiding young boys around the area and in the process on died.

On getting back to the station, they requested my dad deposit the body in the mortuary after an Autopsy was done and w paid another 300k 4 days later the ipo called up my dad to come to the state HQ, he went and was told that the family of the slain young man reported him to zone 9 in Umuahia and that they want him to bring my dad there.

He joined them immediately to Zone 9 only for him to be detained there for no reason. We got a call by 6pm from the IPO that he has been detained and that we should go there. Early next morning I set off to Umuahia along with my dad’s brothers. At the gate we were told to pay 2k each before we can enter.

Then at the counter we were asked to pay 500 naira before we can see him, he is an elderly diabetic and hypertensive man who spent the night in a rotten cell without his drugs.. Police are wicked animals. Then came the issue of releasing him, we were asked to bail an innocent

Man with 50k, because of his health we had to pay up. That day was the day I swore never to trust a policeman, attend to a policeman in cases of emergency or see a policeman and family in my Clinic. They are very inhumane, wicked set of people.

We were able to pay a ransome of 1million naira after she has spent 2weeks in the forest. They released her on the 15th day of captivity by 1am. We found her sitting helpless and haggard looking in a roundabout. Took her home, cleaned her up and took her to the hospital.

A week later a diagnosis of Gall bladder cancer was made after an abdominal CT was doe because of er incessant complains of abdominal pain. He passed on 3months afterwards… The Police was never heard from again since after the zone 9 incident. Nigeria Police is never ur friend."

India Is About To Hold The Biggest Election In History

India’s general elections, the biggest democratic exercise in the world, get underway in April and will decide the leadership and direction of the country of 1.3 billion people for the next five years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party came to power with a historic landslide victory in the last national polls, in 2014.

But his promises of “achhe din,” or better days ahead, have given way to disappointment over sluggish economic growth, discontent among farmers and rising unemployment, making the race more of a contest than many expected.

The logistics of ensuring free and fair elections for the largest voter base in the world are complex and overwhelming. Here’s a look at India’s elections, by the numbers:

900 million: Eligible voters

More than 900 million Indians — nearly three times the entire U.S. population — will be eligible to cast ballots. That includes 45 million people who turned 18 and became eligible to vote since 2014.

543: Parliamentary seats at stake

Voters cast their ballots for representatives in the Lok Sabha, the lower and more powerful house of India’s two-tiered Parliament. The Lok Sabha has 543 elected seats, and the party or coalition that holds a 272-seat majority selects the prime minister.

Shocking Story Of Woman Who Kept Dead Babies Inside Her Wardrobe For 20 Years (Photos)

A sickened daughter has revealed how her mum kept dead babies hidden in the wardrobe for 20 years - while disguising the smell with air fresheners.

Bernadette Quirk wrapped the four tiny newborns in newspaper and stashed them in a red bin - taking it with her every time the family moved home.

Eventually, her horrific secret was first exposed in
1998 when daughter Catherine - then 16 - put her hand in the bin and "felt a baby’s head". The teenager and her sister Joanne Lee begged their mum to give the baby a proper burial - but the two girls were unaware their mum had hidden three other newborn girls.

It was only in 2009 that their mum's full gruesome secret was laid bare, with ex-nurse Quirk later admitting four counts of concealing a birth at Liverpool Crown Court, The Sun UK reports.

'YOU CAN TASTE THE SMELL'
Joanne, who has now written a book Silent Sisters about the horror, told Liverpool Echo: "I’d always wanted to write a book because my life had been a jigsaw puzzle which I wanted to piece together.

"But I will never know the whole truth. I will never know how she hid those babies all those years. Where were they in between her moving houses? How do you hide the smell of a dead body? The smell is indescribable. It clings to you and you can taste it."

Quirk managed to escape jail and was instead handed a two-year community order. She passed away in February aged 64.

All four of the children had different fathers - one of whom was Joanne's ex partner.

Joanne has previously opened up about her chaotic childhood - revealing the siblings would often go weeks without gas or electricity because of their alcoholic mum.

SINISTER SECRET
The charity worker was also forced to steal soap from school so she could wash Catherine and brother Christopher's clothes.

But the children had no idea of the sinister secret their mother was hiding in the wardrobe upstairs despite some clues - including a bloodstain on the rug in her bedroom.

Joanne previously told The Sun: "She did put on a lot of weight sometimes and would wear big, baggy clothes, and I did notice more than once she had a big tummy, which vanished almost overnight.”

It was only in 1998 when Catherine innocently put her hand in the bin that she discovered the grisly truth. The girls managed to convince Quirk to give the tragic baby girl a dignified burial where their grandmother was laid to rest.

'REAL-LIFE HORROR FILM'
But the full shocking secret was exposed when the family moved house for a forth time and the girls saw the same red bin.

Joanne said: "We were helping her move. The moment we saw the red bin, we both froze. Mum started screaming when she saw us staring at the bin. Of course, we didn’t imagine there was anything in there but her reaction made us suspicious. Just seeing the bin sent shivers down my spine. The memories of what had happened still haunted me, every day.”

Joanne called the police, who searched the home and discovered the remains of three babies.

She said: “I felt sickened there were three. I hadn’t really believed there could even be one. It was like a real-life horror film, with my mother as the monster.”

WRAPPED BABIES IN NEWSPAPER
Quirk was charged with four counts of concealing a birth, which she later admitted at Liverpool Crown Court in December 2010.

The court heard she had hidden the bodies, wrapped in newspaper, sheets and plastic bags, for up to 20 years.
Quirk said she gave birth to the babies between 1985 and 1995 and insisted they were all stillborn - but she said she had been drinking heavily at the time and could not be more specific.

Forensic scientists examined the remains and found that all were full-term and most likely stillborn.

Catherine and Joanne arranged a funeral for the four babies and invited their mum, who refused to attend. Joanne recalled: “It was heart-breaking but also there was a comfort and a relief that they were finally getting the respectful burial they deserved.

“I don’t understand why she hid the births or why she carried the bodies around like that in a bin. It seems so disrespectful and inhumane. I don’t believe she knows the meaning of motherly love.”

APC Complains As Dogara Meets It's Angry Lawmakers To Work With Him

Indications have emerged to the effect that a storm is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus of the House of Representatives, especially returning and newly elected members.

The reason, according to a highly placed source, is that incumbent speaker, Yakubu Dogara, who’s currently in the opposition is holding meetings with aggrieved APC lawmakers.

The source, who asked not to be named, also told Daily Independent that the leadership of the APC is aware of Dogara’s scheming and is monitoring its members and their activities building up to June.

While the source did not mention how many APC lawmakers were holding meetings with Dogara and who they are, he, however, stated that a major contender for the seat of speaker from the North Central, Ahmed Idris Wase, was also approached by the group for meetings with Dogara, but has serially stayed away.

“I can tell you that they have tried severally to get Wase to attend the meetings, but he kept dodging them. One of them even said the speaker is considering him for the deputy speakership position if he aligns with him, but Wase has refused to attend”, he said.

Probed to name the members attending the meetings with Dogara, the source said he could only say that “many APC members from other zones are not happy with the party’s apparent favouritism towards the South West”.

He said reactions and protest against the move are reasons why many members are declaring their intentions to run for the office.

Recall that on the day Femi Gbajabiamila, a top contender in the speakership race and a possible anointed candidate of the party, declared to run, another lawmaker from North Central, Muhammed Umar Bago from Niger, also declared his intention to run.

Since Bago and Gbajabiamila’s declarations, another North Central lawmaker, John Dyegh from Benue has also joined the race.

Dyegh, formerly touted to head the speakership campaign of Idris Wase, declared during the week in a twist of event many have described as a protest against the party’s arm twisting tactics, as well as the manner Wase has kept the North Central caucus in the dark regarding recent developments they got wind of.

It was said that Wase whom the caucus was rooting for was being offered deputy speakership position to run with Gbajabiamila, but didn’t deem it fit to inform the caucus and keep them on the same page.

Asked if Dogara has hijacked the caucus, the source declined to comment.

He, however, said, “All I can say is that many members are not happy with what the party leadership is doing with the zoning arrangements, and they’re realigning”.

Dogara is said to have the support of the 123 PDP members with promises of better deals for them if they could also bring their friends on the APC side to his camp.

The speaker is said to have waited with bated breath whilst working underground to see cracks in APC walls and exploit same to his advantage, as it was in 2015.
