SCARY! Lagos Cultists Kill Rivals, Cut Off Their Hands

A cult war in Ikorodu area of Lagos has claimed at least three lives in two days. According to reports, the clash started following the brutal killings of Gbendu, a suspected Eiye member, at Sago and a Vulcanizer, a suspected member of Black Axxe cult group (Aiye) at Ota–Ona last week.

The two groups reportedly launched deadly reprisal attacks on each other at the weekend and early morning on Monday, April 8.

It was gathered that two more members of the Black Axxe Confraternity were brutally killed last Saturday at Lucky Fibre area with their hands cut off and taken away by their assailants.

The two men were killed at a bar. It was also gathered that the two corpses were taken away by the police who arrived at the scene after the killings which left the residents of the area in shock and fear.

Also, a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity was allegedly killed in the early hours of Monday morning in what was described as a reprisal attack by the Black Axxe confraternity hit squad.

Snow White, Sleeping Beauty & Lion King Are Movies Filled With Racism, Experts Claims

Whether it's the old classics or the newest blockbuster, Disney films have been a huge part of children's lives for generations.

But according to experts some of the older movies many of us grew up with could actually be extremely harmful to our little ones.

Many believe films such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Lion King could promote unhealthy body image, gold diggers and even racism and domestic abuse.

According to Dr Victoria Cann, a Humanities lecturer at the University of East Anglia, Beauty and the Beast is by far the "most dangerous" Disney film.


She claims it's a case of Stockholm Syndrome, telling the Sun : "This is the most dangerous because the Beast always feels on the verge of violence.

"It also gives the unnerving idea that if a woman perseveres long enough, she can change an angry partner.

"At the end, the beast then turns into this blonde-haired white man for another happy ever after, giving the idea that now he's good looking, he can’t possibly be angry or threatening."

Dr Cann also raises issues with Aladdin, claiming the 1992 movie is "racist".

She points out that all the "good" characters, including Aladdin, have pale skin, while the baddies have darker skin.

She says this same approach is used in the Lion King, with evil Scar much darker than the rest of the characters.

Another expert, Dr Laura Coffey-Glover from  Nottingham Trent University, believes Snow White creates unrealistic expectations for young girls.

She says the film portrays women as helpless characters who just have to wait around for a man to come and sweep them off their feet.

They also believe Sleeping Beauty promotes anorexia as her character has an impossibly thin waist.

As with Snow White, they also talk about the issue of consent as both films show the woman being kissed with a man while she is asleep.

Dr Cann says they "normalise men's sense of entitlement over women's bodies".

However the experts praise the more recent films, such as Frozen, which feature much more modern themes including friendship, family loyalty and feminism.

Court Still Unclear Why Man Killed His Family After Starting A Relationshup With A 17-Year Old

A father suspected of gassing his family to death was allegedly having an affair with a 17-year-old girl he met in the Philippines.

Fernando Manrique, 44, is accused of turning his house in a 'gas chamber' by wiring a device from the garden shed into the roof of the family home.

It is claimed Manrique channelled a deadly gas into their Sydney home, killing himself, his wife Maria Lutz and their two young autistic children, Elisa and Martin.

The family were found dead in October 2016, after friends of Maria became worried when she didn't reply to their messages or take the children to school on Monday morning.


Police found Maria dead in bed, alongside her 12-year-old daughter Elisa.
Manrique was found slumped in the hallway while Martin, 11, was found in another bedroom.

The family dog, named Tequila, was also found dead next to Martin.

Judge Truscott said there was no indication Maria was involved in her children’s deaths, saying: "The impression the friends of Maria have given the court is to make it very clear Maria loved her life and had every intention of continuing a loving and productive life with her children.

“There’s no suggestion in any of the evidence the deaths were merciful at all. She didn’t require mercy, she provided her two children with the utmost."

Manrique and Maria were childhood sweethearts who emigrated from Colombia to Australia.

The inquest heard the couple were in financial trouble, with Manrique being made redundant from his job and building up credit card debts of $28,000 (£15,000).

Manrique had set up a new business after losing his job and work often took him to the Phillipines.

He told friends he was struggling in his relationship with his wife and had started "hooking up" with other women during his business trips abroad.

It was also heard how Manrique had been wiring thousands of dollars to a 17-year-old girl called Jamielyn in the Phillipines.

He is said to have met the teenager in a bar in 2016 before going to to start a long-distance relationship with her.

Maria is said to have found out about the relationship, leading to further breakdown in their marriage.

Manrique had moved out of the family home before returning temporarily while he looked for somewhere to live.

However, Detective Sergeant Pooley said Manrique had already formulated a plan to gas the family after opening an account with BOC - a company supling carbon monoxide.

He had also visited DIY store Bunnings to buy, what investigators believe, was equipment to gas the family, such as gas cylinders.

The inquest continues.


Grandmother who gave birth to OWN grandchild because her daughter has no womb says she's prepared to do it Again

A grandmother who gave birth to her own grandchild – because her daughter was born without a womb has said that she would do it again.

Emma Miles, 55, from Wales, appeared on Monday's This Morning with daughter Tracey Smith, 31, and the baby that she gave birth to - Evie Siân Emma Smith on January 16th this year.

Daughter Tracey feared she would never have a child of her own after being diagnosed with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser Syndrome (MRKH).

But her mother stepped in, and despite being 53 at the time of the pregnancy, she agreed to be a surrogate for her daughter and gave birth to a healthy girl - Evie via C-section - who weighed 7lbs 7oz.

On the show host Ruth Langsford asked Emma: ‘Question is - would you do it again?’ Emma replied instantly with: ‘Yes, I would.'

Twitter fans of This Morning loved their story, with many saying how sweet it was of her mother.

Talking on the show this morning Emma, the grandmother, said about Evie: 'I don’t see myself as her mother, I see her as my granddaughter.'

Tracey also revealed at 16 that she couldn’t have children:  'I had to see a lot of doctors and after a laparoscopy they told me I'd been born without a womb.'

Her now husband Adam and her started to look into surrogacy a few years ago: 'I thought it was never going to happen and my husband suggested looking into surrogacy, but it costs thousands.

'When we had a consultation, they suggested using a family member – so I asked mum,' Tracy admitted.

'You'd anything for your child,' Tracey's Mum Emma said.

 Because Tracey's ovaries still worked normally, she used IVF with her husband, Adam, 40, to create an embryo which was then implanted into her mother. And as they say, the rest is history.

Magic Johnson quit as Los Angeles Lakers’ president of basketball operations last night, citing his desire to return to the simpler life he enjoyed as a wealthy businessman and beloved former player before taking charge of this tempestuous franchise just over two years ago.

Johnson didn’t tell owner Jeanie Buss or general manager Rob Pelinka about his shocking decision before he announced it in front of reporters about 90 minutes before the final game of the Lakers’ sixth consecutive losing season.

Nigerian Lady Into 'Runs' Killed By Italian Man Over S*x

Faces Of SARS Officers Nabbed For Extorting Lagos Pastor

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday re-arraigned four dismissed officers attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the state Police Command before the state High Court.

The ex-SARS officers - Sergeants Adeoye Adekunle, Adeniran Adebowale, Agbi Lucky and Odighe Hehosa - were arraigned on three counts bordering on conspiracy and abuse of office.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The suspects, who were dismissed based on the outcome of an investigation into a petition written against them by one Mr Chukwudi Odionye, popularly referred to as Bishop, on May 2, 2018, were arraigned before a magistrates’ court on charges bordering on armed robbery, kidnapping, unlawful detention, intimidation as well as threatening violence.

Odionye, in his petition to the police, had stated that on June 4, 2017, he was in his house in the Alagbado area of the state when four armed men stormed his apartment to effect his arrest on the allegation of him performing fake miracles.

He stated that after his arrest, he was taken to one hotel in Agege, where he was detained and threatened with death if he failed to cooperate, adding that on June 5, 2017, he was taken to the bank, where he was made to transfer N7m to the account of one of the operatives.

At Tuesday’s proceedings, the counsel for the ex-officers, A. O. Aguegebobo, informed the court of a bail application he had filed on behalf of his clients. He added that the defendants had been in prison custody since July 18, 2018.

The prosecuting counsel, Adeola Odumabo, did not oppose the bail application.

Ruling on the application, the presiding judge, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

He added that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of each of the suspects, while the other must be a police officer not less than an Inspector.

Oshodi ordered that the defendants should be remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of their bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till October 15, 2019, for commencement of trial.

Buhari Team Asks Security Agencies To Investigate Atiku

The Buhari Media Organisation on Tuesday asked security agencies to investigate what it described as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar’s “unholy romance with foreign bodies especially the United States of America, in pursuit of a mandate he never had.”

The group made the call in a statement by its Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju; and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke.

The organisation accused Atiku of seeking to destabilise the country in a bid to realise his ambition.

It claimed that the former vice president had been lobbying the US authorities to recognise him as Nigeria’s President despite his electoral defeat in the February 23 election. The BMO said Atiku’s action was treasonable with dire consequences.

The statement read, “We had in the past drawn attention to the desperation of the failed PDP presidential candidate to rule Nigeria at all cost, and it is becoming more obvious with his latest gambit.

“Not satisfied with pushing out cooked-up figures which he and his party claimed they got from the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission and are using as the basis of their legal challenge at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, Alhaji Abubakar is now using lobbyists in order to con the United States to his side.

“We at BMO are not surprised because we had raised the alarm even before the election that the PDP elements had been preparing ground for what they called a ‘Venezuelan option’ by instigating the international community against the President Buhari-led administration, and by raising all sorts of false alarms.

“Now that news has filtered out that Atiku has hired some prominent American lawyers to lobby the US Congress and the Executive to recognise him as President, it is shocking that a man who rose to the position of vice president can be engaging in acts that amount to treasonable felony, especially as the legally authorised body in election matters, INEC, declared that he lost the presidential election.”

The group further claimed that increasing insecurity in parts of the country was planned to make President Muhammadu Buhari appear helpless.

It added, “We have seen how banditry has suddenly threatened to spiral out of control in Zamfara State and some other parts of North-Western Nigeria almost immediately after the election.

“These are places that were relatively peaceful before and during the election and which also had a reasonable turn out of voters.

“It should not be a surprise that this spectre of violence is deliberately orchestrated and coordinated as part of a game plan to make the incumbent President look helpless and win US support for the failed PDP presidential candidate who is not even known to be popular in that part of the country.”

The pro-Buhari group urged the US authorities to guard against being used by those it described as unpatriotic Nigerians to work against an election that their representatives in the country had hailed as largely free and fair.

It added that main local election observer groups validated Buhari’s victory as declared by INEC.

Armed Robbers Operating With Police Uniform Nabbed

The Niger State Police Command said that it has apprehended two robbery suspects in police uniform, while operating in Ungwan Liman Madalla in the Suleja Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, Shuaibu Pawa, 27; and Masaudu Haruna, 25, were arrested by a team attached to the ‘C’ Division, Madalla, following a tip-off.

It was learnt that the suspects had earlier broken into the house of one Abdullahi Abubakar, a police officer, and made away with his service uniform and other valuables.

Northern City News gathered that on Tuesday that the suspects had been operating in the area for some time before their arrest.

One of the suspects, Haruna, explained their mode of operation thus, “We can initiate a robbery at any given time without minding what security agencies can do. We rob innocent people at will and make money to take care of ourselves.

“Sometimes, we plant spikes on the road to puncture vehicle tyres in order to rob the motorists and passengers.”

He confessed that they used toy guns and other dangerous weapons to attack their victims.

The Niger state Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, explained that the suspects had admitted to the crime. He said the operatives recovered two toy guns, two knives and a pair of police uniform from the suspects, adding that they would be arraigned in court soon.

Civil Defence Man 'Kills' Fellow Officer In Lagos

An official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Innocent Osemi, on Monday night allegedly killed his colleague, identified as Senior Inspector Mamman Wuyah.

He injured another person. The incident allegedly occurred at the Lagos Deepshore, Offshore Logistics (LADOL) in Apapa area of Lagos. What happened?

The Nation learnt that a bullet had discharged accidentally from the gun of Osemi, said to be from Kogi command, but on beat assignment at LADOL, killing the senior inspector and leaving another injured.

Although it was initially alleged that both officers had a disagreement over money, sources at the NSCDC dismissed the allegation.

According to them, LADOL usually took care of officials posted to secure their facilities, hence, it was very unlikely the issue was about money.

“What we heard was that it was accidental discharge. It had nothing to do with money. Officers who are posted to LADOL are deployed from commands. In this case, the officer who died was from Kaduna command, while the other one was from Kogi.

“LADOL pays their allowances directly to their accounts, provides them good accommodation, so, they do not even have need to touch their salaries. This is why I can tell you it wasn’t about money,” said a source.

A statement by the corps’ spokesman, Emmanuel Okeh, said the suspect had been detained. Conveying the message of the Commandant-General, Abdullahi Mohammadu, to the bereaved family, Okeh said a committee had been set up to look into the incident. He said the injured person was responding to treatment.

Twitter Limits Daily Follows To Combat Spammers

In an apparent attempt to combat spam and bot accounts that populate its platform, Twitter announced today that it is changing its rules to allow users to follow up to 400 accounts per day. The change marks a considerable drop from the previous cap, which allowed up to 1,000 follows in a single day, though still allows for more following than the average human user is likely to do in a 24 hour period.

"As a part of our commitment to building a healthy service, we remain focused on stopping spam and abuse on Twitter," a spokesperson for Twitter told Engadget.

Follower churn, according to Twitter's help center, is the process of following and unfollowing accounts. The process is done to get the attention of users and try to get people to follow back to inflate one's follower count.

Gunmen Kill Businessman During Robbery In Lagos

Some unidentified gunmen have shot dead a businessman, Musibau Abudu, at his residence on Itelorun Close, Haco bus stop, Adeniyi Jones area of Ikeja, Lagos State.

Punch Metro gathered from Abudu’s neighbours that the gunmen invaded the area around 2am last week Thursday in a bid to steal some inverter batteries and rob the residents of their valuables.

It was learnt that while the robbers were operating inside the compound, Abudu stepped out of his apartment and was reportedly shot in the head.

The deceased’s neighbour, who identified himself simply as Afeez, said Abudu was rushed to the emergency unit of the Lagoon Hospital on Adeniyi Jones Avenue, where he gave up the ghost.


Afeez said, “On Thursday, I received a call from my neighbour, Folayemi, who saw some unfamiliar people using their phones’ flash light around the canal at the back of our house, some of them were already inside our compound and while we were thinking of what to do, I suddenly heard three gunshots. I could not come outside until around 6am when we started hearing familiar voices of neighbours, who were trying to rescue Abudu.

“Immediately I came out, I saw people gathered around someone, who was lying on the floor. I thought it was one of the robbers, but when I moved closer, I discovered that it was Abudu. He was trying to speak and so people rushed him to the emergency unit of the Lagoon Hospital, where he died. It was later that we discovered that the armed robbers came to steal inverter batteries.”

When contacted, Folayemi said the noise of someone jumping into the compound woke her up, adding that she alerted her neighbours when she sensed danger.

She stated, “I heard the noise of someone jumping into the compound and that woke me up. After I woke up, I peeped through my window and I saw a man on the fence, who held a torchlight and was trying to call the others. So, I started calling my neighbours on the telephone, Afeez and the man who was shot dead, to alert them that robbers were around. Few minutes after, I heard the gunshots that killed the man.”

When contacted, the deceased’s sister, Keji Adeluola, said Abudu’s death came as a shock to the family, adding that the remains of the father of two had been deposited in the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital’s mortuary.
