A young Nigerian man who was married to an elderly Oyinbo woman, has reportedly died of massive heart attack at a nightclub, as police authorities launch probe into his death.
32-year-old Gabriel Segun Ajayi, who was married to a 50-year-old Russian woman, died at a nightclub on Friday night in the city of Cherepovets in Moscow.
According to Sputnik News, Russian investigators have launched a preliminary probe into reports of Ajayi's death, saying that the cause of death would be determined after a forensic examination.
Ajayi and his wife, Natalia Vedenina, had earlier captured the attention of Russian daytime talk shows with their romance, due both to the 18 year age difference between them and the unusual story of a reported Nigerian prince agreeing to move to rural Russia to be with his wife.
The young man had met Natalia on the internet in 2012, with neither speaking the other's language; they communicated through an online translator.
Natalia's 22-year-old eldest son was apprehensive at first, concerned that the romance may have been some sort of scam. However, Gabriel turned out to be real, and in 2016, Natalia flew to Nigeria, where Ajayi proposed. After marrying, the couple moved to Russia, and in 2017, Natalia gave birth to twin boys.
After coming to Russia, Ajayi began learning the language and started working as a tractor driver and local IT specialist.
"I would spend days on the internet, and wasn't phased by the color of his skin or his age, nor the fact that he was from a completely different culture," Natalyia said in a talk show."
"The more I got to know him, the more I realized that this was my man, who could feel and understand me, how I feel, even without words."
Natalyia who was devastated by the news of her husband's death, said; "Gabriel had a massive heart attack, he collapsed and died. He wasn't on any medications. My husband didn't have any complaints about his heart.
"I was informed two hours after it happened… Our children are just babies – they are just a year old, they don't understand anything yet," she said.
Ajayi will be buried in the city of Cherepovets to be closer to his widow and his children. His mother lives with the rest of the family in a nearby village, and is assisting in nursing the children.
The rest of Ajayi's family aren't likely to attend the funeral due to the distance and difficulties in obtaining a visa on such a short notice.

PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the killing of International Committee Of Red Cross aid worker, Hauwa Liman who was killed by Boko Haram.

Men of the Oyo Police Command have arrested five suspected kidnappers for allegedly abducting and killing a poultry farm owner, Tomilade Sunday Aladeniyi after collecting ransom from his family.
It was gathered that the mastermind of the act was a man sacked by the deceased after he discovered that he had been stealing eggs from the company.
Aladeniyi’s lifeless body was later recovered in the
forest along Ijebu-Ode road where the kidnappers dumped it.
Abiodun Odude, the Oyo state Police Commissioner, described the suspected kidnappers as sons of Lucifer. The suspects who the police said would soon be charged to court for prosecution are Abdullahi Musa, 37, Isah Tambaya , 20, Yuguda Yusuf ,35, Aminu Ahmadu ,24, and Ojo John , 34.
Speaking with journalists in an interview, one of the suspected kidnappers, Abdullahi Musa, revealed that one of the staff of the victim had invited other members of the gang, mainly Fulani herders, to kidnap their boss and were given N20,000 each out of the money collected from the family as ransom.
According to him, they had no plans to kill Aladeniyi until one of them raised the alarm that if allowed to go, he (Aladeniyi) would reveal their identify.

A pan-Yoruba group, Yoruba Youth Forum, has commended former President Olusegun Obasanjo for forgiving ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of his past mistakes.
The group also lauded Obasanjo for endorsing Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the PDP, for the 2019 general elections.
The YYF said by forgiving Atiku, Obasanjo had shown himself as a genuine leader, adding that it believed that the former President’s move was in the country’s interest because “the majority of Nigerians are already tired of the APC-led government which has failed to deliver despite the massive supports by Nigerians.”
It said this in a statement by its Chairman, Olusegun Bolarinwa.
The YYF said, “We want to specifically thank former President Olusegun Obasanjo for finally accepting the apology of his former deputy in the interest of Nigerians.
“Many Nigerian voted for the APC because they thought the party would be able to improve their lives but today the party has made a mess of every sector of our national life.
“The economy today is in a total mess. During the electioneering period, President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, APC, made promises which many of us believed.
“Some of us believed in those promises not because we were fools but because those promises came from Buhari, a man we once vouched for his integrity.
“But today, Mr President, none of those promises has been fulfilled. Nigeria has fared badly under President Buhari.”
The Yoruba group said that under Buhari, the nation’s economy had become “a ravaging bull running amok and has defied any solution from the government.”
“Majority of Nigerians have become hopeless in the face of the economic hardship that has plagued the nation since Buhari took over the mantle of leadership of this great nation.
“The vicious cycle of poverty now engulfs the masses to a level of suffocation,” the group added.
Two Lagos businessmen, Pius Ebere and Peter Attah, have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stealing spare parts in the state.
The police said on Monday that Ebere who was arrested on Friday, had allegedly abandoned his car with number plate, FST 616 DV, after a police patrol team stopped him for a routine check on Oke Afa Bridge.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, said
after a search was conducted on the abandoned car, some auto parts and a number plate, AAA 472 CP, which belonged to one Suleiman Waheed, were recovered.
Oti said, “The police patrol team, led by the Area Commander, Area D Command, Mushin, ACP Akinbayo Olasoji, stopped the Honda Accord, owned and driven by Pius Ebere, an auto parts dealer in Ladipo market, for a routine check; but instead of allowing the police do their job, the man escaped into the night. The vehicle was towed away to the station and the runaway suspect was eventually arrested.
“The following items, engraved with number plate, AAA 472 CP, believed to have been stolen from a vehicle, were recovered from the suspect: two headlamps, car stereo, four side door automatic control panels, brain box, side mirrors and four rear seats. Investigation revealed that the items were stolen from a Lexus GX 472 SUV, belonging to one Suleiman Waheed. He has been contacted and he affirmed that the recovered items were parts of his car vandalised in the Ekoro area of the state.
“Other items recovered from the suspect’s car include: five brain boxes of Toyota and Lexus vehicles, four car stereos, a pair of Toyota Corolla 2011 rear lights, a pair of Toyota Corolla 2011 headlamps, three pairs of side mirrors and one front grill cover of Infinity Jeep. All recovered items are engraved with plate numbers by their various owners who had been contacted by the police to report with proof of ownership.”
The PPRO said investigation conducted into the case led to the arrest of the suspect’s accomplice, Attah – also an auto parts dealer in the Ladipo market.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, had adviced Lagosians to engrave their number plates on their vehicle parts to expose burglars.
Oti said, “When Attah’s shop in Ladipo auto spare parts market was searched, various types of suspected stolen car parts were recovered.
“It is the advice of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Imohimi Edgal, that vehicle owners should engrave their registration numbers on their vehicle parts to discourage vandals and predispose them to arrest by the police.
“Recall that exactly two months before the latest incident, on Sunday, August 12, 2018, another auto parts dealer from the same Ladipo market, Daniel Ekwerekwu, was confronted by a police patrol team from Anthony Police Division as he was vandalising cars parked on the streets of Mende-Maryland. His attempt to evade police arrest ended fatally, as his effort to scale a high wall led to his death.”
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the Presidency has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to detain indefinitely, the outgoing governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose.
In a statement issued Monday by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said information at its disposal and in the social media, indicated that the Presidency has put the EFCC on the alert to arrest the governor at midnight today and detain him indefinitely.
The party said the alleged directive by the Presidency was not unconnected with alleged plot to use the EFCC and other security agencies to incarcerate the governor for his persistent criticism of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government.
The statement said, “This uncompromising stand of the outgoing governor against the present administration was the reason Ekiti State was invaded and taken by force during the last governorship election.
“By 12 midnight, the governor’s residence is expected to be surrounded by armed men of the EFCC under the pretense that they had information of his plot to escape. This is to achieve their plan to humiliate the governor and portray him in bad light to the public by dramatising his arrest.
“Nigerians can recall that it was the governor who offered to submit himself to the EFCC despite the commission’s clear display of bias and partisanship as demonstrated in its various actions, especially its tweets and putting the governor on security watch-list.
“The EFCC even unprofessionally showed its bias in deriding the governor, making light of a very serious matter by mocking him and asking him to come before his tenure elapsed, which the governor declined in line with his constitutional immunity.
“It is now beyond dispute that Governor Fayose is not a scoundrel running away from justice. Whatever the EFCC, APC, and the Presidency’s spin-doctors may say, it is also clear to everyone that Fayose is not a coward; neither is he afraid of the EFCC”
The PDP said Fayose is prepared and ready to defend himself in the court of law, adding that neither the Presidency nor EFCC is a court of law.
The party said having claimed to have dusted up Fayose’s files; the EFCC should be ready to take him to court once he presents himself at the agency’s office on Tuesday.
“Governor Fayose has offered to walk to the EFCC office by himself and nothing must happen to him. The PDP condemns this resort to fascism by the APC government. The whole world should be at alert to see another demonstration of crude disrespect for the rule of law and rights of Nigerians”.
Meanwhile, Fayose has reiterated his readiness to honour the EFCC’s invitation today, adding that he would “stay and fight this battle”.
Fayose, who spoke in Abuja Monday night at a send-forth ceremony organised in his honour by the PDP Governors Forum, said, "They took me to Court 13 years ago, I won after 8 years.
“They harassed my family and I got judgment three times against them. This time will not be an exception. Those who wait for me will wait in vain. EFCC is no court”.
The Governor of Sokoto State, who was a presidential aspirant on the platform of the PDP, Aminu Tambuwal, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari is not in charge of the country. Rather, he said the President ran the country by proxy.
He said it would be suicidal in 2019 for Buhari to continue.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives spoke in Abuja on Monday when the Peace and Reconciliation Committee of the PDP paid him a visit in his Maitama (Abuja) residence.
Tambuwal said he was not angry about his loss of the party’s presidential ticket in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to a former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar.
He promised to work with the national leadership of the PDP towards ensuring that the party emerges victorious in the 2019 presidential election.
Tambuwal added, “The maladministration and the way the country is being run through proxies is unacceptable.
“President Buhari is not in charge. It will be suicidal for him to return to power for another four years. So, we don’t want a situation whereby that will continue anytime after May 29, 2019.
“We want a government in which the President of Nigeria will be right on top of issues. One that will respect the rule of law.
“So, I have given my commitment and I mean it, I am out for it. By the grace of God, we shall support Atiku Abubakar and the PDP to win elections throughout Nigeria.”
The body of a newlywed man was found last Saturday after he was swept away by flash flooding in Costa Rica before his wife's eyes.

Aspirants who contested the various positions in the recently concluded APC primaries have warned that the party will find it difficult getting the required number of votes for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election if the party go ahead and field unpopular candidates in the states.
One of the aspirants for the House of Representatives seat for Ekiti Central Constituency 1 comprising Ado, Irepodun and Ifelodun local government areas, Olayinka Olafemi Daniels described as a conspiracy against the President, attempt by some party leaders to foist unpopular candidates on the people.
Daniels said in an interview in Abuja that any attempt by the party leaders at the National, level to succumb to the manipulations at the state level will force the people; it may force the people to vote for the opposition party, thereby causing the president the required votes.
He said “If they pick the wrong candidate, that person will definitely lose the general election and it will no doubt affect the chances of the President. The programmes of the president are laudable, but should not be truncated by these desperate acts of some of our leaders.
“I am not a desperate politician because I have my profession and a source of livelihood. But we are passionate about this party and want the President to succeed.
“We should not undertake the opposition and I must tell you that the emergence of Atiku as the Presidential candidate of the PDP is a major challenge in the south west. So, I want the leadership of the party to declare me the candidate of the party because i am the most popular among the aspirants”.
Also, speaking in the same vain, One of the Senatorial aspirants of the party in Delta North, Ambassador Gabriel Chukwuma Oyibode said the party will find difficult to get votes for President Buhari in 2019 general election if he is excluded from the exercise which he described as a kangaroo exercise.
Chukwuma, who said he was one of those who obtained nomination form, screened and cleared to contest Delta North senatorial primary alongside, Doris Uboh and Dr. Mariam Ali claimed that he excluded from the ballot paper during the primary at the party’s state secretraiat.
He alleged that Dr. Mariam Ali who was reportedly declared winner of the primary was sponsored by the major opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ambassador Chukwuma told newsmen apart from the fact that his name was omitted from the ballot, the primary election did not hold in the state wondering how the winner emerged.
He said: “Three aspirants, Mariam Ali, Doris Uboh and myself were screened by the party’s screening committee after obtaining the nomination and indication of interest to contest the senatorial seat for the Delta North Senatorial District, but unfortunately, the primary election never held on the stipulated date as we waited at the venue and both the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) officials were not there till about 3.30 pm.”
According to the aspirant, after waiting all day, the primary was said to be postponed to the next day where it was held in a different venue outside the official designated venue, the Technical College of Education Asaba which he claimed he reported to the party election committee chairman, Gen. Lawrence Onoja (Rtd).
“I was disfranchised along with my delegates who are the largest in number against a Kangaro election held without my name found on the ballot paper and two boxes provided instead of three”, wondering how three candidates will be screened for an election and two will be made to contest.
“This act is tantamount to electoral fraud and I want the world to know what the party (APC) has done in the state regarding the primary election."
The lawmaker representing the Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari alleging that the Nigeria Police are threatening his life.
Melaye, in the petition dated October 13, 2018, and addressed to the President, chronicled his battles with the men of the Nigeria Police both in Abuja and Kogi.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Amnesty International, European Union, United States Embassy, British High Commission, United Nations, Canadian Embassy, German Embassy, Economic Community of West African States and the African Union were copied.
The senator also accused Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State of being behind a plot to kill him.
He urged Buhari to order the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to restore his police details withdrawn since April, in order to guarantee his security especially as electioneering had begun ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The petition partly read, “Your Excellency Sir, may I, therefore, most humbly and respectfully urge you to caution the Nigeria Police. It is very clear, given the chronology of events as encapsulated in this petition, that the Kogi State Governor is using the Nigeria police, in his bid to stop my political ascendancy, to assassinate my person.
“I have made several reports to local and international organisations, to alert them to the looming plot to kill me, by Governor Yahaya Bello, using the Nigeria Police Force, especially the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State. I firmly believe that the security of lives and property of every Nigerian citizen should be of paramount concern to the government.
“I respectfully demand that you direct the Nigeria Police, under the Inspector-General of Police, to restore my security details, especially during this campaign period.”
The Federal Government has charged PDP candidate in the contentious Osun governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke (Osun West) and four others before the Federal High Court, Abuja with alleged examination malpractices.
Adeleke and others were accused, in a four-count charge filed in the name of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of fraudulently registering as students of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro, Osun State to enable them sit for the National Examination Council (NECO) examination of June/July 2017.
Named with Adeleke, in the charge are: Sikiru Adeleke, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau (the principal of the school), Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo (school Registrar) and Dare Samuel Olutope (the teacher).
Adeleke was absent when the case was called yesterday.
His lawyer, Alex Izinyon (SAN), told the court that his client took ill on Friday and had been stooling.
Izinyon said a copy of a medical report was available to that effect. He said Adeleke suddenly took ill at the weekend, but was getting better.
He sought a postponement of the arraignment.
Prosecution lawyer, Simon Lough, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), said he was in receipt of the medical report on the health condition of the 1st defendant (Adeleke).
He said he was not averse to a short adjournment as sought by Izinyon. He said the defendants were released on the administrative bail granted them by the police.
Lawyers to the other defendants also agreed to a short adjournment, following which Justice I. E. Ekwo adjourned till October 31 for arraignment.
Justice Ekwo said: “The prosecution is ordered to ensure the defendants are in court at the next date, to take their plea.”
Izinyon has represented the IGP in some major cases. He represented the IGP in the cases against his invitation by the Senate over Senator Dino Melaye’s trial and the Offa robbery case in Abuja.
In the first count preferred against the defendants, the prosecution alleged that the five defendants “conspired to commit felony, to wit: examination malpractices, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 10 of the Examination Malpractices Act Cap E15 LFN 2004”.
In count 2, the prosecution alleged that the three members of staff of the school acted in concert by aiding and abetting “the commission of examination malpractice by personation” when they allegedly “registered Senator Ademola Adeleke and Sikiru Adeleke” while knowing or having “reasons to believe that they are not students of the school”.
The alleged offence is said to be contrary to Section 9(1) of the Examination Malpractices Act Cap E15 LFN 2004.
In count three, the two Adelekes were accused of acting in concert, and “personated as students of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School when you fraudulently registered as students of the school in the June/July, 2017 NECO”.
The offence is said to be contrary to Section 3(2) of the Examination Malpractices Act Cap E15 LFN 2004.
The fourth count accused the three members of staff of the school of “acting in concert” and while “saddled with the responsibilities of registering students of your school in the June/July 2017 NECO examination, breached that duty by registering Senator Ademola Adeleke and Sikiru Adeleke as students of your school in the June/July 2017 NECO examination when you know or had reasons to believe that they are not students of the school”.
The fourth count was said to be contrary to Section 10(a) and punishable under Section 3(2) of the Examination Malpractices Act Cap E15 LFN 2004.
A man, Chinindu Innocent, has been nabbed by the police for allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend’s mother in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
Innocent and three other members of his gang – Ekendu Chidiebere, Tochukwu Samuel and Ikechukwu Nwankwo – were rounded up by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, a few days after they collected a ransom of N300,000 and released the victim.
It was learnt that 24-year-old Innocent had been kidnapped along with the victim in her apartment on Aparazu Ogwu Community in Abia State.
A source said the victim, after she was released, said Innocent was always urging her to persuade her family to pay the ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
The IRT reportedly invited the suspect for questioning after a petition had been written to the Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, by a relative of the victim, Agnes Simion.
Upon interrogation, Innocent allegedly confessed to the crime of masterminding the kidnap of his girlfriend’s widowed mother, adding that the move was to punish her for allowing his girlfriend to date another man.
The Abia State Indigene said, “I reside at Aparazu Ogwu community with my cousin. The woman we kidnapped was my girlfriend’s mother. They have a telecom mast in their compound and I used to go to their house to charge my phone. I made friends with them and the woman’s second daughter became my girlfriend.
“A few months into our relationship, I discovered that my girlfriend was seeing someone else. I confronted her about it and she threatened to end the relationship. I told her mother about it but she did nothing.
“My cousin in whose house I reside in Aparazu Ogwu community approached me and sold the idea of kidnapping to me. He told me that one of his friends, known as Onyemywa, who has made money from kidnapping told him that people in the community could pay us huge money when we kidnap them. I suggested that we kidnap my girlfriend’s mother.
"The woman has been nice to me, but the misunderstanding between her daughter and I made me restless and I needed to punish her. I asked my brother to bring in his friends to kidnap the woman and we agreed that I would be on ground when she will be kidnapped.
“I did what they wanted and on the day she was kidnapped, I was at her house and we were both abducted and taken to a forest in Omuma village. My gang members demanded N1.5m from her brothers, but they ended up paying us N300, 000.”
Chinindu, however, stated that he and his brother did not get any money from the proceeds of the operation.
“The gang members who took the money refused to give my brother and me our share because they thought that the woman’s relative would pay more than they did.
“While we were still trying to get our share of the money, the police arrested my brother and me.”
A source close to the IRT said the suspects were currently being detained at the force headquarters, Abuja.
Former governor Ayodele Fayose, whose tenure expired midnight on Monday, said earlier in the day that he would visit the EFCC on Tuesday (today) with his bedclothes and pillowcase.
He said he can't run from anyone, saying "I'm coming".
Fayose’s immunity ends along with his tenure and he has been invited to the headquarters of the EFCC where he will answer to allegations that he received about N1.3bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser through the then Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.
Fayose said, “I will be there on Tuesday. I am not begging for any bail. It is up to them. If they want me, they should just give me a bed. I have done by bed bedclothes, I have done my pillowcase, I have my English and Yoruba bibles. I am prepared for them. Nobody should worry about me. Only cowards die many times before their deaths.”
Fayose spoke even as a source close to him has said that some governors and lawmakers who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party are expected to accompany him to the EFCC.
Sources told The Punch that Fayose, who is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, would be accompanied by a team of PDP stalwarts.
The source said, “Fayose will be going to the EFCC with governors and lawmakers. It will be the same way Senate President Bukola Saraki was accompanied by his colleagues when he went to the Code of Conduct Tribunal. We will be there to give him all the encouragement he needs.
Also speaking at a farewell dinner hosted in honour of Fayose, a former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said he and others would escort Fayose to the EFCC.
He said when he was also in the custody of the commission in 2016, the governor visited him and gave him encouragement.
Fani-Kayode added, “When I was in the EFCC detention for 60 days and then another 30 days, he came to see me. They were shaking that a sitting governor could come to the EFCC and they came to bring me to see him from one of the underground cells and all he was saying was, ‘Know that God is with you, God is alive.’
“As you stood by us when we went through challenges, so shall we stand by you from October 16 when we go to the EFCC to go and see them. Nothing can overcome you because God is with you.”
While delivering his farewell speech, Fayose said he would be at the EFCC by 1pm, adding that he would be going with his pillowcase, bedclothes and other effects.
He added, “I will be there on Tuesday. I am not begging for any bail. It is up to them. If they want me, they should just give me a bed. I have my English and Yoruba bibles. I am prepared for them. Nobody should worry about me. Only cowards die many times before their deaths.”
The governor said his persecution would be short-lived, adding that the PDP would return to power in the next presidential election.
Fayose said it was not the first time the anti-graft agency would be prosecuting him, adding that he would emerge victorious as he had in the past.
He said, “Tell them at the Villa. My name is Ayo Fayose. My name is Peter the rock. Let me say to you that by the grace of God, I will be at the EFCC by 1pm on Tuesday. I am not a coward, never. Let it be said to them that today is their own and tomorrow is our own. I am coming.”
