Facebook Lite Now Available For iOS Devices

After years of waiting, Facebook Lite is now available for iOS devices after been available for Android back in 2015.

When Facebook Lite for Android was launched, it was rolled out globally, but it seems different for iOS users. Facebook Lite for iOS is rolling out to some countries where unlimited (or even cheap) data plans aren't as prevalent, hence the rollout starting in such countries does make a bit of sense.


As of the time of this publication, users in Turkey were able to install this app. The roll out is not global for iOS yet, possibly it should be at some later point.

Facebook Lite is very fast, consumes less data, space, RAM and resources, unlike the Facebook's normal app.

Facebook Lite for iOS is quite smaller in size than the normal Facebook's app. It's just 5MB on iOS and it also uses less battery and significantly less data.

MTN has just launched Direct to Retail (D2R) app today - the 4th of September 2018. This app was launched across 36 states in Nigeria.

Few weeks ago, I talked about Nigerian banks trying to introduce WhatsApp banking service, and now, Access Bank has just officially launched its first WhatsApp digital banking service.

Good News Google Set To Provide Free Wi-Fi Hotspot For Nigerian's

Good news for Nigerians.

Google has announced that, in its bid to make the internet more easily accessible to Nigerians, it is launching Google Station for Nigeria by end of 2019.

 The program aims to provide high quality, high-speed WiFi hotspots. This announcement was made at the second Google for Nigeria event.

Google Nigeria Country Director Juliet Ehimuan Chiazor said, “Google Station will be rolling out in 200 locations in five cities across Nigeria by the end of 2019, bringing Wi-Fi to millions of people. Sites include markets, transport hubs, shopping malls, universities, and more. Nigeria is the fifth country to get Google Station, after India, Indonesia, Thailand and Mexico.”

Google is also making search more powerful for ordinary Africans. Job search launched in March in South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya, and is now rolling out in 29 new countries. In Nigeria, Google is launching a search experience that allows users to explore health conditions based on symptoms, as well as recipe search for anyone who needs a little food inspiration.

StreetView’s Discover Nigeria gallery has been expanded to include more of Nigeria’s wonders including the National Museum in Lagos, Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Millennium Park in Abuja, and Lekki Conservation Centre.
