I Sell Women’s Underwear To Ritualists For N80,000, Teenager Confesses

The Police in Anambra, on Thursday said they had arrested a teenager for allegedly stealing a woman’s underwear for ritual purposes.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, a Superintendent of Police, said in Awka that the suspect, 19, was apprehended on January 11 in Onitsha.

“On January 11, 2019, at about 6.48 a.m., Police detectives attached to Central Police Station, Onitsha, arrested the suspect of Ogbaku in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo.

“The suspect allegedly stole a female panties washed and spread on a rope at 21, Umuna Street, Odoakpu, Onitsha in Anambra State,” Mohammed said.


He said that the suspect planned to sell the underwear to a yet-to-be-identified persons at N80,000 for alleged ritual purposes.

He said that the underwear was recovered from the suspect as exhibit, adding that efforts were being intensified to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in the incident.

The Police spokesperson implored the public to be vigilant and report to the nearest Police station any suspicious person or persons in their vicinity for prompt action.

According to him, the advice is important to avert this new trend of crime in the society.

Lady Gaga's R Kelly Collaboration Is Still Being Sold On Google Play

Lady Gaga's collaboration with controversial rapper R Kelly was still being sold on the Google Play service as of Wednesday.

This despite assurances from the songstress last Wednesday that she would 'remove' the song from streaming services.

'I intend to remove this song off of iTunes and other streaming platforms,' wrote the Golden Globe nominated actress.

Universal music 'are working on taking this down now,' according to TMZ.


The Million Reasons hitmaker made the pledge during a lengthy Twitter apology for having collaborated with the rapper on her 2013 track Do What U Want (With My Body).

'What I am hearing about the allegations against R Kelly is absolutely horrifying and indefensible,' Gaga wrote in a statement last Wednesday.

'As a victim of s-xual assault myself, I made both the song and the video at a dark time in my life, my intention was to create something extremely defiant and provocative because I was angry and still hadn't processed the trauma that had occurred in my own life,' she continued.

Gaga said that she stands behind the women who spoke out in the docuseries Surviving R Kelly, and feels 'strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously.'

The couple plan to have their second wedding during the weekend of March 1, which also happens to be when Justin Bieber will turn 25.

They also added that the wedding ceremony will be held in Los Angeles instead of Canada, where Justin’s family live, due to the unpredictable weather.

JOHESU: Strike Looms In Nigeria’s Health Sector

Health workers have threatened to resume their suspended strike. The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), on Wednesday, threatened to resume the industrial action it suspended last May, if the issues in dispute are not resolved in two weeks from today.

According to Vanguard Newspaper, JOHESU, through its chairman, Biobelemoye Josiah, issued the strike notice in a letter addressed to the minister of labour and employment, Chris Nigige.

“In view of the apparent indifference of government to permanently resolve these lingering issues, some of which have persisted for over five years now, the Joint Health Sector Unions by this letter notifies the Federal Government of her resolve to resume the suspended industrial action by Thursday, 31st January, 2019. Having waited for this long it is surprising that the following matters have not been resolved,” Mr Josiah noted.

Agony Of Corps Member Held By Police Over Hacked Account

A corps member identified as Ayodeji Felix Olaniyi has been held by the police over a hacked account. This was made known by one Olowoleye Olayinka, who gave an insight into what led to Olaniyi’s arrest. Olowoleye wrote:


 “Olaniyi was arrested on the 14th of January 2019 (Monday).  He is into selling of bitcoin. He sold bitcoin to a client who resides in Delta State. The client hacked a woman’s UBA account in the same Delta State to pay him through mobile transfer to his GTB.

  He noticed the name of the client who bought the bitcoin is different from the account name that paid him. He quickly went to police station (A) Division Uyo, on the 12th January 2019 to lay a complain to DPO about the transaction.


    The DPO was not on seat so he met with IPO and wrote down a statement. On 14th January 2019 (Monday), he went back to the police station (A) Division Uyo, to ensure the DPO was aware of the statement he wrote.

    However, the DPO advised him to go to his bank and confirm the transaction and to also give him feedback of what happened. But on getting to the bank, he discovered his account was frozen.

    The bank then held him and police from (C) Division at Aka Etina Road, later arrested him and nothing has been done about it. The owner of the hacked account who raised the alarm that led to his arrest, is nowhere to be found till date.”

Louisville Renames Airport After Hometown Hero Muhammad Ali

Louisville International Airport is about to be renamed after hometown great Muhammad Ali.

After Wednesday's vote on a recommendation by a working group that studied renaming for more than a year, the city announced the airport will become the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, instead of Louisville International Airport.

Heavyweight champion boxer Ali labeled himself "The Greatest of All Time," and was among the most famous and beloved athletes on the planet. Ali was known not only for his athletic prowess but also for his social activism. He died in 2016 after decades with Parkinson's disease.

"This tells the world how proud we are to associate 'The Greatest' with not only our great city, but our great airport," Jim Welch, chairman of the Airport Authority Board, said in a statement.

Ali's widow, Lonnie Ali, expressed her support for the name change: "I am happy that visitors from far and wide who travel to Louisville will have another touch-point to Muhammad and be reminded of his open and inclusive nature, which is reflective of our city."

Medic! Doctors Use More Alcohol To Cure Man Of Alcohol Poisoning

Medics have transfused five litres of beer into a man's stomach to prevent him from dying of alcohol poisoning.

The treatment took place at General Hospital in the central Vietnamese province of Quang Tri when doctors administered 15 cans of beer to 48-year-old Nguyen Van Nhat in order to save his life.

Dr. Le Van Lam, head of the hospital's Intensive Care Unit, told local media that the level of methanol in Nhat's blood was 1,119 times higher than the appropriate limit.

To save his life, medics had to immediately transfuse three cans (one litre) of beer to slow down his liver's processing of methanol.


According to Dr. Lam, one can of beer was given to Nhat every hour and after 15 cans were administered the patient was completely conscious.

The doctor explained that a person's stomach and intestines continue to release alcohol into the bloodstream even if they are unconscious or have stopped drinking, and for a period alcohol levels in the body continue to rise.

Dr. Lam explained that alcohol comes in two variants, methanol and ethanol, and the human liver breaks down ethanol first as a priority.

The man became unconscious when the methanol in his system oxidised to formaldehyde which in turn produced formic acid, according to reports.

To prevent oxidising formaldehyde to formic acid, giving beer to the methanol-poisoned patient gave medics enough time to perform dialysis.

Nhat was discharged 3 weeks after the treatment.
