Buhari's Team Cries Out: PDP, Atiku Planning To Rig The Election

Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) said yesterday that it has unearthed plans by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to infiltrate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by sponsoring its supporters to work within the commission as electoral officers.

BMO also said the opposition was deploying massive resources to rig the election.

The organisation said in a statement issued by its chairman, Niyi Akinsiju and secretary, Cassidy Madueke, that the plans of the opposition “to subvert the will of the people”, is the recent recruitment of a former INEC Chairman known to have presided over the worse election in Nigeria’s recent political history.

The group said the rigging plot also involves spending huge sums of money on police personnel and election officials in many parts of the country. It added that the opposition was also plotting to infiltrate the electoral body with their supporters.

The group asked INEC to be vigilant and ensure that PDP supporters were not recruited as electoral officers for the presidential and other elections.

Woman Cuts Maid With Razor Blade Over Baby Milk

A nursing mother, Folake Ogunrinu, has been arrested by operatives of the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly lacerating her 10-year-old maid with a razor blade in the Sanyo area of Ibadan.

It was gathered that the suspect, who had accused the victim of stealing her baby’s milk, in a bid to discipline her, subjected the girl to torture by allegedly using a razor blade to lacerate her on the back and hand, leaving the girl with severe injuries.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, while condemning the action of the nursing mother, said the maid ran out of the house to get help from neighbours when she could no longer withstand the pain from the torture.

The eyewitness said, “It pains me to see a small girl in such pain; it was a terrible scene. The woman accused the girl of stealing her baby’s milk and subjected her to such a horrible torture. According to the victim, the woman used a razor blade to lacerate her back and when she could no longer cope with the torture, she ran out of the house and the woman still chased after her.

“It was when the girl ran out that we saw what had happened to her and forcefully took her away and rushed her to the hospital for treatment.

“From what we were told, the woman gave birth to a set of twins some months back and I think the girl was brought to her by a church member to assist the woman for a year. As small as the girl is, the woman usually made her to do all the house chores. I wonder why the girl has still not returned to her parents.

“We reported the matter at the Sanyo Police Station; I just hope that from this incident, people will learn to keep their kids under their watch no matter the situation they are experiencing.”

A reliable source, who did not want his name in print, said the victim’s family had refused to press charges against the woman, adding that the family members were willing to settle the case out of court.

The Punch learnt that the news of the torture, which is trending online, was greeted with condemnation of the woman’s action by Nigerians from diverse backgrounds.

Adeogun Oluwakayode, while condemning the torture on his Facebook page said, a government agency and a non-governmental organisation had taken up the case to get justice for the victim.

He said, “Let us be careful of the kind of discipline we administer to our children or anyone in our custody. The aim of discipline should be to encourage the child to stop negative behaviours, make positive choices and ultimately become a better person, and not to inflict pain or cause injury.

“Anyway, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation have taken up the case. The wicked woman has been arrested.”

Musa Maria, who also criticised the suspect said, “What do you think of your own children when you do this to other people’s children?”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the incident to The Punch, said the woman had been arrested and her case file transferred to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Iyaganku, on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude.

“I am aware of the case; the suspect has been arrested and on the directive of the CP, Abiodun Odude, the case has been transferred to the state CIID, Iyaganku, for diligent investigation and prosecution. But I am also aware that the victim is related to the suspect,” Ajisebutu said.

Oshiomhole: Once You Join The APC, Your Sins Are Forgiven

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday urged members of the opposition party to join the APC so that their sins could be forgiven.

He spoke at the APC rally in Benin, the Edo State capital, on Thursday while receiving some members of the Peoples Democratic Party into the APC during the rally.

He said, “We have some PDP defectors. They are, Henry Tenebe, Iluobe….Iluobe means I have done something wrong. Yes, once you join the APC, your sins are forgiven.”

Oshiomhole advised the people to vote for the President and all the APC candidates at the polls.

PDP mocks Buhari over gaffe 
The PDP alleged that President Buhari had voluntarily handed over his presidential candidacy to Ogboru.

It stated that the perceived handover was at the APC presidential campaign rally. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodinyan, said the handover had shown that Buhari had foreseen his defeat and already switched into a handover mode.

Ologbondiyan said, “The whole world watched as President Buhari, apparently overwhelmed by thoughts of his defeat, ended up declaring the APC governorship candidate in Delta State, Great Ogboru, as the presidential candidate.

“President Buhari told his audience, ‘I have this pleasure of handing over this flag of honour to our Presidential candidate’, while giving the flag to Great Ogboru.”

He added, “It is clear that President Buhari, worried by the shunning of his campaign by Nigerians, mistook the Warri Rally for the May 29, 2019 handing over ceremony that is four months ahead.

“Buhari is already in the mood of his May 29, 2019 handover of mantle of leadership to PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, following the national consensus to return the PDP to power in the February 16, 2019 presidential election.”

TRAGIC! Pregnant R*pe Victim Dies In Accident, Court Suspends Judgement On Man Who R*ped Her

Tragedy struck on the Benin-Auchi Expressway in Edo State on Wednesday after a 17-year-old pregnant rape victim, her uncle, an advocacy officer identified as Promise Ezekiel, and their driver, Paul Opashe, were killed in a road crash.

It was learnt that the victims were travelling in a car to

the Evbuoraria Magistrates’ Court, Benin, where judgment was to be delivered in a case involving the teenager’s father when a truck rammed into their vehicle.

The fifth occupant of the car was said to be in a critical condition in the hospital.

The Punch gathered that there was confusion on the court premises when the Investigating Police Officer broke the news of the tragedy.

The magistrate and those who had gathered to witness the ruling, reportedly broke down in tears, as all matters slated for hearing that day were postponed.

It was learnt that the deceased advocacy officer, Ezekiel, and the survivor worked with a non-governmental organisation, the Brave Heart Initiative.

In a reaction to the tragedy, it was gathered that the NGO had shut down indefinitely.

Our correspondent learnt that the teenager was allegedly defiled by her father, identified as Jacob Alonge, aka Ariver, many times in their house in the Akoko Edo area of Edo State.

Alonge, 54, who was reputed to possess diabolical powers, was alleged to have aborted the first pregnancy that resulted from the incest.

The Brave Heart Initiative, in a statement it issued after agreeing to take up the case in December 2018, had said the bubble burst after the girl was impregnated the second time.

“The Brave Heart Initiative’s current case involves a 17-year-old girl, who had been serially abused by her biological father. The father is known to possess diabolical powers and engages in fetish practices.

“The mother has been largely absent in her life, and the victim has a lot of social issues with a complicated mental health history.

“Her father shaved her hair as a threat of death if she disclosed the s*xual abuse, and made her to swear to keep the secret. She, therefore, endured all the abuse in secrecy.

“He impregnated her last year (2017) and aborted the pregnancy via local concoctions. She is pregnant again and was finally able to confide in a relative. The community has risen in her defence. The suspect (her father) was apprehended by the community’s vigilance group and the police arrested him. The case is being prepared for further investigation and prosecution.

“The scan conducted revealed that the girl is 21 weeks’ pregnant. The Brave Heart Initiative will be registering her for antenatal and hopes to secure a better household for her until childbirth.”

The founder of the NGO, Priscilla Usiobaifo, in a series of posts on the case on Facebook, had lamented the mental condition of the 17-year-old, praying for her full recovery.

On January 11, 2019, she announced that the case had been adjourned till January 16 for judgment.

She called on her friends and other NGOs to join in witnessing the judgement.

Around 6am on the D-day, she said she had a foreboding, which she could not explain.

Usiobaifo had stated, “No matter the outcome of this court judgment today, it will have an everlasting effect on this teenage girl.

“It is traumatic to see your biological father in the dock and witness him being sentenced for a criminal act!

“I feel very deeply about the pathetic case of this teenage girl and engage in heartfelt prayers for her full recovery.

“I have supported over 100 s*xual abuse survivors, but I feel very different about this particular case.”

The Punch learnt that the victim, her uncle, the NGO worker, and the man who drove them did not reach the court.

Usiobaifo told the correspondent on the telephone on Thursday that they all died in the crash.

She said, “The court was waiting for them to arrive when the IPO broke the news of the accident. The magistrate and everybody were devastated and they postponed everything. The survivor is still unstable in the hospital.

“They were all in a car when a truck rammed them. The accident happened between 7.30am and 8am at Ewu on the Auchi-Benin Road. There were four casualties in all: the victim, her uncle, my advocacy officer and the driver.”

The founder of Project Alert on Violence against Women and Girls, another NGO, Mrs Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, lamented the hazards that organisations rendering humanitarian services were exposed to without commensurate benefits.

She said Usiobaifo, who is in her early 30s, had been plunged into emotional and financial crises while attempting to help a victim of abuse.

Buhari A Big Joke, Unfit To Be Administrator of Whatsapp Group - Atiku

PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a “parody of the 21st century” following his performance at Wednesday night’s town hall meeting in Abuja.

In a statement on Thursday, Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shuaibu, said the town hall meeting had exposed Buhari as a man unprepared to lead a modern nation.

According to him, the meeting made it obvious that the President possessed minimal capacity to hold the office of Head-of-State and also lacked knowledge of the goings on in his administration as well as the policy direction of his government.

The statement reads, “The town hall meeting neither added value nor content to public discuss.

“Clearly, it exposed the fact that the incumbent is neither prepared to rule for another four years, nor does he have a reason to seek a second term.

“The President’s responses to questions border more on classic dementia than reason. It was practically a display of wretched illiteracy.

“It is a shame that this is the best that a supposed ruling party can produce in the 21st century: a man lacking in vision, elementary knowledge and depth. Buhari is a joke, a parody of the 21st century.

“This man (Buhari) has shown that he is unfit to be an administrator of a WhatsApp group, let alone being President of Nigeria. He is not fit, neither should he be allowed to lead the over 200 million Nigerians in the 21st century.

“Of a truth, President Buhari is a man to be pitied because it is apparent he cannot help himself. It is now left for Nigerians who are desirous of charting a new course for their country to salvage it by voting Atiku Abubakar on February 16, 2019.”

Amaechi Behind Secret Plot To Remove CJN Onnoghen?

According to Mr. Nyesome Wike, Rivers State Governor, his former boss, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, was behind plots to remove Walter Onnoghen, embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria.

What is the connection between the CJN, Wike and Amaechi?

Mr Wike made the claim on Thursday at the campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Eleme Area of the State.

Onnoghen is accused for allegedly omitting to declare his assets and illegally operating five domiciliary accounts in various foreign currencies.

The charges were filed by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on the orders of Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF). Onnoghen is to be arraigned at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

As the matter was called up at the CCT on Monday, the top jurist was absent, challenging the jurisdiction to try him. He was represented by over 40 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) and some lawyers.

Later a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja halted the arraignment of the jurist.

Naming the minister as the arrow head of the plot, Governor Wike said the meeting where the plot was hatch was held in Abuja.

“At that meeting in Abuja last Monday, Amaechi confessed that he is the person behind the illegal crisis facing the CJN,” Wike said in a statement signed by Simeon Nwakaudu.

“He (Amaechi) bragged that he will destroy the CJN the way he brought Former President Goodluck Jonathan down,” he added.

The governor said the plot by Amaechi to destroy the nation’s judiciary will finally consume the minister. There is no reaction from Amaechi at the time of this report.

Aso Rock Clinic Job: How Man Was Defrauded Of Millions

Two individuals have allegedly fraudulently obtained N12m from one Oniye Wunmi on the pretext that they wanted to help him secure employment in State House Clinic, Abuja.

Consequently, the Police on Thursday arraigned one

Ogugua Christian in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, over the allegation. The defendant, who lives on Arab Road, Abuja, is being tried on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, misappropriation, cheating and impersonation.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Oniye Wunmi, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on December 8.

He alleged that the defendant and one Anthony Esther (now at large), fraudulently obtained N12m from the complainant under the pretext that they would secure job for him at the State House Clinic, Abuja.

He told the court that rather than fulfill their promise, the defendant misappropriated and converted the money to his personal use.

The prosecutor alleged that Esther, the defendant’s accomplice, who had posed as a doctor, was now at large.

The judge, Ibrahim Balarabe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2m, with two sureties, one of whom must be a senior civil servant.

Balarabe said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the matter until February 25 for hearing.

Popular Ghanaian Journalist Who Exposed Massive Corruption Shot Dead (Photos)

A Ghanaian undercover journalist who helped expose corruption in African football has been shot dead in the capital Accra, police said Thursday.

A police spokesperson told AFP the journalist was shot in the neck and the chest by unknown gunmen on his way home on Wednesday night.

Ahmed Husein was part of a team led by award-winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, whose probe led to the resignation of the head of the Ghana Football Association.

Dozens of football referees and officials were also banned.

Confirming the incident, Anas tweeted: “Sad news, but we shall not be silenced. Rest in peace, Ahmed.”

Prior to his death, Husein had made a complaint to police after his pictures were published on national television.

Ghana’s national media regulator condemned the killing and called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation.

“It will be in the national interest to arrest the perpetrators of this crime,” the commission’s chairman Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo said in a statement.

Ghanaian journalists condemned the killing of the 34-year-old reporter, who was instrumental in the international football corruption investigation which broke last year.

Football’s world governing body FIFA last October banned former Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi for life and fined him nearly $500,000 after he was seen on camera accepting bribes.

Nyantakyi was accused of requesting $11 million (9.3 million euros) to secure government contracts.

Eight referees and assistant referees were banned for life while 53 officials were subject to 10-year bans. Fourteen officials were exonerated.

The revelations rocked Ghana, where football is the national sport and which prides itself as being a stable democracy in an often turbulent region.

Expert Back Atiku Over Plans To Privatise NNPC

Momoh Aliyu, a financial expert and Managing Director of Cyber1 Systems Network International, has backed decision by PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to privatise the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Aliyu made his position known while reacting to statement credited to Atiku on his proposed plan to privatise the NNPC if elected president.

NAN reports that the PDP’s flag bearer on Wednesday said that he would privatise the NNPC if elected, describing the state-owned oil firm as a “mafia organisation’’.

Atiku, who spoke at an interactive session with the business community in Lagos, said that he would take the step even if doing so would cost him his life.

He explained that he sold the idea to former President Olusegun Obasanjo whom he worked with as a deputy between 1999 and 2007.

According to him, the former president did not approve of it but he is convinced that NNPC will run better if not managed by the government.

The expert said that the privatisation of NNPC was long overdue but, however, doubted the integrity of Atiku in spearheading such process.

According to him, a country with population projected to double by 2050, and presently has many Nigerians that are unemployed should only focus on productivity.

Nigeria’s population is presently estimated at 180 million.

Aliyu said the only panacea to productivity and job creation was to privatise and diversify the nation’s economy.

He said that the government would find it difficult to diversify conveniently because of its policies on public service which were critical to key sectors of the economy.

Aliyu suggested that NNPC should be a regulatory body and not a commercial body.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, says the proposed new National Minimum Wage will be presented to the National Council of State on January 22.

Ngige disclosed this while speaking with State House correspondents after the National Economic Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.

The minister said work was still ongoing on the figure, 

frequency of review, those to be exempted and everything else about the bill before it would be ready for transmission to the National Assembly.

“The information minister told you the other day after the Federal Executive Council meeting that we are taking our deliberations to the National Economic Council and then we close up on the January 22nd at the National Council of State.

“After that, we will be able to say where we are going. It is not a question of governors saying they cannot pay N30,000, discussions are still ongoing and will terminate on 22nd when we meet with the National Council of State.

“Governors are part of Nigeria and they are part of the government’s side of the public sector; so do not disengage them or dis-articulate them from the Federal Government.

“The public is the Federal Government and the state government, and even the local government,’’ Ngige said.

The minister, however, said that the plan was to transmit the National Minimum Wage Bill to the National Assembly on or before January 23 in consonance with the agreement with labour.

Woman Caught Hiding 5 Expensive Rolex Watches In Her Privates

In what will come across as a shocking development, a woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing five Rolex watches - four of which she hid inside her v*gina.

Delajurea Brookens, 29, is accused of stealing the timepieces, worth a total of $108,000, after meeting 46-year-old Ramon Diaz at a club in Miami.

Police say she went back to Diaz's hotel room...

before swiping the watches, which were being kept in a velour bag, and making a break for it.

Diaz chased after Brookens and caught up with her as she was trying to hail a cab outside, arrest documents say.

When he confronted her she began hitting him around the head as hotel staff called the police.

But when officers showed up and searched the velour bag, they were only able to find one of the watches - a $22,000 Hublot.

The other jewelry did not show up until a strip search in jail, when jailers say they found them stashed inside Brookens.

The precious haul included a platinum Daytona model which can cost upwards of $60,000, and another with a diamond bezel.

Brookens was charged with grand theft, cocaine possession, and introducing contraband into a correctional facility, Daily Mail UK reports.

Cops said she has previous convictions for resisting and officer and prosti-tution, and has the word 'whore' tattooed on her arm. She is on bail, waiting her trial.

Ekiti State House of Assembly on Thursday removed the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Segun Adewumi, for alleged gross misconduct.

Adewumi, (Ekiti West Constituency I) in the assembly was elected on June 6, 2015 as the number two man in the Assembly.

He was removed in 2018 by pro-Ayodele Fayose lawmakers for alleged disloyalty. The PDP lawmaker was reinstated as deputy speaker last year few days before Dr. Kayode Fayemi was inaugurated as governor.

Father-Of-Five, 33, Says 11-Year-Old Girl Got Pregnant With His Baby By Using Is Clothing

A 33-year-old man claims he never had s-x with the 11-year-old girl who gave birth to his child. 

Robert Cronin says the young girl, who was known to him, became pregnant with his child after she came in contact with an article of clothing he had used to masturbate.

Cronin, who lives in upstate New York with his fiancee and five children, has been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and felony predatory s-xual assault against a child younger than 13.

Though he is not denying the DNA evidence that proves he is the father of the child, Cronin claims he never physically abused the girl.


Police say the 11-year-old is known to Cronin, but did not disclose their relationship.

A 33-year-old man claims he never had sex with the 11-year-old girl who gave birth to his child. 

Robert Cronin says the young girl, who was known to him, became pregnant with his child after she came in contact with an article of clothing he had used to masturbate.

Cronin, who lives in upstate New York with his fiancee and five children, has been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and felony predatory s-xual assault against a child younger than 13.

Though he is not denying the DNA evidence that proves he is the father of the child, Cronin claims he never physically abused the girl.

Police say the 11-year-old is known to Cronin, but did not disclose their relationship.

Cronin said he understands that people will find it difficult to grasp his reasoning for the girl's pregnancy.

He also said that the Niskayuna Police who arrested him are lacking scientific knowledge.

Authorities say Cronin has no prior criminal history.

January And February Babies Most Likely To Be Rich & Famous, Study Says

Having your birthday in January or February isn't necessarily the ideal time as the weather tends to be a bit cold and miserable.

But according to one study, people with the star sign Aquarius are most likely to become rich and famous.

The  Journal of Social Sciences found that a large proportion of Hollywood stars were born between January 20 and February 18.

Researchers randomly selected from people of different walks of life, including politicians, scientists, authors, sports icons, singers, actors, and celebrities from history and from the current time.


Starting with a sample size of 100 and increasing to 200 and then 300, researchers found Aquarius to be the zodiac when most of the celebrities are born.

The study concludes: "The highest number of celebrities is born in the zodiac sign Aquarius."

Typical traits of an Aquarius include being energetic, imaginative and independent according to horoscope.com, so it makes sense some might go on to high-flying creative careers - if you're someone who believes in astrology that is.

Famous celebrities with that star sign include Jennifer Aniston, Oprah Winfrey and Cristiano Ronaldo.

This isn't the only study that indicates that January and February babies often end up in highly-desirable careers.

Other studies have suggested that people born in winter months are more likely to perform better in tests at school.

Meanwhile researchers within the UK Office of National Statistics analysed 19 different professions from a census to find out how career and birth months correlate.

They determined that people born in January most often went on to be doctors which is pretty amazing, although becoming a debt collector was also an increased likelihoood.

The same ONS study found that people born in February were more likely than any other month to be artists.

Babies born in January were also found to be more likely to grow up to be CEOs.

A study of S&P 500 companies from 1992 to 2009, found that 10 percent of CEOs were born in January, ranking them among the top five CEO-producing months.

It's worth noting that although these studies show a correlation between birth month and future career, it doesn't mean people born at other times of year aren't set for a fabulous future.
