Ortom Apologises To Nigerians For Supporting Buhari In 2015

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has apologised to Nigerians and the people of the state for supporting the election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

Ortom stated this during his campaign tour of Wanune, in the Tarka Local Government Area of the state.

He called on residents of the area not to vote for his predecessor, Senator George Akume, in the forthcoming National Assembly elections but replace him with the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, who is from a neighbouring local government area.

Speaking during his interactions with leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria,  at the NKST Church in Wannune, Ortom said that he was following the footstep of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who had apologised to Nigerians.


The governor explained that he was doing same because the President Buhari-led administration had not only allegedly failed to live up to expectations but also condoned the atrocities of Fulani herdsmen across the country.

“All complaints for the arrest and prosecution of leaders of Fulani groups that sponsored the killing of our people in the state and destruction of property fell on deaf ears.”

According to him, while Buhari’s kinsmen, the late Presidents Shehu Shagari and Umaru Yar’adua, appointed several Tiv people as ministers in their cabinets,  the President had allegedly appointed none, in spite of the fact that the ethnic group which voted massively for him in 2015 was estimated to be the fourth largest in the country.

The governor further alleged that the Buhari administration had brought more hardship on Nigerians and people of the state in different ways, pointing out that Nigerians could not afford another four years of his leadership that would further plunge them into more crises.

He, therefore, urged the people to support his re-election as Governor and that of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as President, in the forthcoming general elections.

Buhari Emerges Oldest Candidate On INEC’s List

The Independent National Electoral Commission released the list of presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates contesting the 2019 elections.

President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate who turned 76 on December 17, 2018, is the oldest of all the 72 candidates running for the number one office.

The other septuagenarian presidential candidates are Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (72) of the Peoples Democratic Party and Maj.-Gen. John Gbor (70) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

The oldest vice-presidential candidates are the People’s Trust’s Dr Agwuncha Nwankwo (76) and the United Patriots’ Moses Okeke (72).


In the 60-69 age range, there are 12 presidential candidates and seven vice-presidential candidates, including Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo of the APC.

I Received Death Threats Over Racy Nun Pictures I Took –Beverly Osu

Beverly Osu, has often been in the news, especially since she took part in the Big Brother Africa competition in 2013, tagged – The Chase.

Towards the end of 2018, the model turned actress stunned many Nigerians after she released some pictures in which she wore a raunchy nun outfit and was seen smoking a cigarette. Many people, especially Catholics, considered it as distasteful and an insult to their faith, but the entertainer feels otherwise.

Exotic Cars Recovered As 6 Yahoo Boys Are Arrested Including Two Blood Brothers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has recovered a sum of $49,000 (about N17m) and five exotic cars from the mansion of a suspected Internet fraudster (popularly known as Yahoo boy), Tomilola Owootomo.

The vehicles are two Bugatti cars, a Mercedes Benz GLK, a Mercedes Benz car and a Porshe, while the house, a duplex, was valued at N300m.

It was learnt that EFCC operatives had raided the suspect’s house at Gwarimpa, Abuja, on a tip-off.

However, Owootomo, 22, evaded arrest.


The acting spokesperson for the commission, Tony Orilade, in a statement on Friday said fleeing Owootomo was one of the seven suspects whose locations were raided by the operatives on Wednesday.

He said six suspects – Chemezie Ezeife, John Onwochei, Joel Onwochei, Marvin Nwankwo, Prince Ojenike, and Jude Olatekobowale – were arrested.

Items allegedly recovered from Ezeife included a Mercedes Benz C300, a Toyota Camry and a Lexus Jeep, four laptop computers, a passport, several wrist watches, two iPhones, blackberry phones, and a Samsung phone.

Several suspicious emails were also said to have been traced to his account.

Orilade said, “Investigation into the activities of another syndicate traced to the Nova Estate in Apo, led to the arrest of two brothers, Joel and John. John, the younger brother, confessed that he got involved in Internet fraud as a student. He successfully defrauded one Miss Lynese from Zambia, using Facebook, in the guise that he was one Carlos Gomes, a British citizen. Joel confessed that his brother initiated him into love scam.

“Items found in his possession were iPhone 6 and iPhone 7. He also confessed to having a landed property in Benin, Edo State, all of which he acquired with the money he made from Internet fraud.  Two laptop computers, a white Range Rover Sport, white Mercedes Benz E350, and a grey Toyota Camry were recovered from him.

“The residence of the seventh suspect, Tomilola Owootomo, 22, was also raided at the Gwarimpa area, following information about his shady activities. Exhibits recovered from Owootomo, who is currently at large, are two Bugatti cars, a Mercedes Benz GLK, Mercedes Benz car, Porshe, $49,000 and duplex worth N300m.”

The spokesperson said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations.

Photos: Five People Including A Canadian Arraigned In Connection With Kenyan's Terror Attack

Five people, including a Canadian citizen, have appeared in a Kenyan court in connection with the horrific terror attack at a Nairobi hotel complex on Tuesday.

Four gunmen and a suicide bomber embarked on a 20-hour siege of the DusitD2 hotel and office complex, killing  21 people, including British charity executive Luke Potter and 41-year-old U.S. businessman Jason Spindler, and injuring 28 others.

The four men and one woman are among the 11 people accused of helping the terrorists, who all died during the siege, in the lead-up to the attack. 

Canadian citizen Guleid Abdihakim is being probed over suspicious communication, while Gladys Kaari Justus is being investigated over the transfer of money.


Two taxi drivers are accused of ferrying the attackers around before the attack: Joel Ng'ang'a Wainaina and Oliver Kanyango Muthee. The other suspect, Osman Ibrahim, is alleged to have met with one of the attackers on January 8.

A magistrate granted a request from the prosecution to detain the four men and one woman for 30 days while investigations continue.

Two suspects yet to appear in court, Ali Salim Gichunge and Violet Kemunto Omwoyo possessed SIM cards that were in 'constant communication' with numbers in Somalia, court documents revealed.

Kenyan investigators said today that one of the terrorists who attacked the hotel was a son of a Kenyan military officer.

The Daily Nation, a Kenyan newspaper, on Friday identified the attacker as Ali Salim Gichunge and said his father is a sergeant with the Kenya Defence Forces. The newspaper says Gichunge's mother was arrested and taken to Nairobi for questioning.

Woman Stabs Female Neighbour To Death In Lagos

A violent woman has been arrested for stabbing her neighbor to death, following a verbal exchange. The sad incident happened at Oke Ira axis of Ajah, Lagos.

According to other neighbors, the suspect, identified as Uche, is in the habit of verbally assaulting her co-tenants.

Trouble started around 5a.m yesterday, when the victim was 

brushing her teeth and Uche started singing abusive songs directed at her. After getting no response, the suspect then went ahead to splash dirty water at the exact place the lady was brushing, thus triggering a reaction.

In the course of their verbal exchanges, the husband of the deceased cautioned her before he went out to work.

However, minutes later, when the lady was taking her kids to the bathroom, Uche stabbed her in the stomach, eventually leading to her death.

Why Atiku Travelled To US - Peter Obi

The running mate to Abubakar Atiku in next month’s presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, said yesterday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer is not in the USA to prove any point to anyone.

Amaechi Replies Wike For Saying He Plotted CJN's Removal

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi yesterday dismissed as another blatant lie, a statement by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, that he (Amaechi) masterminded alleged plot to pull down the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

The minister, who doubles as the Director General of the Buhari/Osinbajo Reelection Campaign Organisation, said in an online statement that the governor’s allegation was aimed at putting him (Amaechi) on collision course with the judiciary.

“Amaechi is not a judicial officer and he is not part of whatever is happening in the judiciary. We challenge Wike to mention the name of the APC’s chieftain he falsely alleged that Amaechi discussed the ‘destruction of the CJN with,” Amaechi’s media team said in the statement.

The statement said: “In Wike’s usual chicanery, up till today, he has refused to go to court to claim the $43million found in the Ikoyi apartment, which he claimed was Rivers money stolen by his predecessor. Even when a court of law openly asked anyone laying claim to the money to come forward and collect it, Wike ran far away from the court.”

The transportation minister said Wike should remember that the immunity he currently enjoys against prosecution for his many libelous attacks on him would not last forever.

Coninuing, Amaechi’s media office said: “At the appropriate time, he (Wike) will no doubt face the full wrath of the law and ultimately that of the Almighty God.

“Wike should by now know that Nigerians are tired and are no longer interested in his ranting and cock-and-bull stories against Amaechi.

“Wike’s outburst against Amaechi is diversionary. Rivers governor knows too well that he has nothing to show Rivers people for his almost four years in office, in a state obviously with one of the highest allocations, thereby resorting to casting aspersions on Amaechi, instead of telling the people what he has done for Rivers State.”

Transportation minister also called on Rivers people and other lovers of democracy to ignore Wike, whom he described as a frivolous fellow.

The Rivers State governor had, on Thursday, accused Amaechi of working against his Southsouth brother (Justice Onnoghen).

Why I Don’t Own A Sar –Mr Eazi

This might come as a shock to many lovers of Mr Eazi and his work as in a recent interview with Saturday Beats, the Leg Over singer revealed that he did not own a car.

In his explanation, he stated that he preferred using Uber. He further said, “If your self-esteem is based on how much you have in your bank account, then you have a serious self-esteem issue. Right from when I sang my very first song, someone offered me N80m record deal but I turned it down and at the time, I did not have N300,000 in my account.

“My first record deal offer from the UK was £356,000, I turned it down but at the time, I had done a tour and the total amount  I earned was £12,500. I used the money to shoot the videos of some of my songs. I was left with £20; they were offering me £365,000, but I turned it down. The reason I did that was because my value was not dependent on what was in my account.


“Till today, I use Uber but I do not care and by the way, I don’t even pay for the ride because I was given Uber credit. But if you see me in the Uber vehicle and feel that Mr Eazi is poor, what is my business (with that)? For instance, everybody around me has cars, and besides, I buy cars for people. If it makes sense for me to use an Uber, why should I drive? Why would I pay about N100m for a car that I would probably drive just five times a year?

“There are better things to do with that money. In the short time I have spent on earth, I have made a lot of money. While I was into mining, I had so much money that I was living at a place that was a stone’s throw away from the airport in Accra and I was paying my rent in dollars.

“I was making a lot of money. That shows you how expensive it was but I went from there to squatting with my friend in a one-room apartment. I was sleeping on the floor in his room. Also, when I was doing the business of selling beverages, we started with a crate and in a short while, we began to import four containers every two weeks. From importing four containers every two weeks, we went back to nothing. In my life, I have had ups and down. If my self-worth was based on material things, I would have killed myself.”

Nigerian Businessman Accused Of Rape Kills Self After Posting Suicide Note On Twitter

The founder of Asiwaju Royal Furniture in Ojo, Lagos, Michael Asiwaju, popularly known as Mike Cash, has taken his own life following several rape allegations against him.

City Round learnt that Asiwaju died at a hotel in Lagos.

He was said to have taken a poisonous substance suspected to be Sniper and was met lifeless in his hotel room around 12am on January 13, 2019.

It was learnt that the father of one had checked into the hotel in the evening of the previous day.


Shortly before he committed suicide, he had expressed his intention via his Twitter handle, Asiwaju_limited, to end his life.

“Goodbye I’ll die soon. (I) am gone,” he tweeted at 7.35pm on Saturday, January 12.

Asiwaju was prominent on the social media platform with about 24,700 followers.

The post was the last of several tweets the deceased broadcast last Saturday, between 5.52pm and 7.35pm, in response to the allegations.

Last week, a Twitter user, @thatgoddess, had called out Asiwaju, noting that she had information about how he raped a woman inside his car. She, however, said facts about the allegation were still sketchy.

Later on, she posted a chat history between her and an unnamed woman, who claimed to have been raped by the young businessman sometime in May 2017.

In the chat history, the woman alleged that Asiwaju lured her into a hotel in Festac and forcefully slept with her.

The woman’s chat read in part, “I don’t want anyone linking me to this. He raped me. His full name is Michael Asiwaju. He owns a furniture company.  He’s also known as Mike Cash. He is mostly in Festac. He tried to lure me with money and gifts. He was asking me out and I refused. I was just fine being friends with him because he was a controlling person.

“He said I’m his girlfriend and I just laughed about it cos (because) I never agreed to be his girlfriend. He always wanted me to come see him but I always refused. Then, he accused me of sleeping around with men. I ignored him and then he apologised. So he called me and said I should come hang out with him and his friends at the beach.

“So I thought it was okay to go see him since it was an open place and his friends were gonna (going) be there.  So when it was time to leave the beach, he was supposed to drop me off at Lekki Phase I; then I’d get Uber to take me to my house. He also had to drop one of his friends at his hotel. So we were all in the car and then his friend dropped midway.

“Mike said we had to go to his friend’s hotel to wait for him. I didn’t even understand what was going on but I didn’t mind cos (because) we were not alone. His cousin was there too.”

The accuser stated that when they arrived at the hotel, she waited at the lobby instead of checking into a room with Asiwaju. She explained that his cousin drove out in Asiwaju’s car and promised to come back soon.

She continued, “Mike kept telling me to go chill in the room instead of waiting at the lobby. He kept assuring me that I’d be okay. So I went to the room; (the) biggest mistake of my life. I really trusted that nigga.

“I was alone for a while, then he came in and locked the door. I started to panic. He started touching me and all that. I told him I wasn’t in the mood. So he said I was his girlfriend and he would have sex with me whether I was in the mood or not. I started to fight him and he became aggressive.”

But while replying to the allegations last Saturday on his Twitter page, @Asiwaju_limited, the late businessman said the women accusing him of rape were actually his girlfriends who he met on social media platforms.

He posted pictures of two of the purported girlfriends, claiming that they had fun together sometime in 2017 at a club, where he spent N500,000.

Asiwaju alleged that his former business partner, one Blessing, was behind the blackmail.

He wrote, “I (am) here, I’ll need to say my own side of the story. I know my former business partner sponsored this blackmail to destroy me cos (because) she’s contesting on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

“You all claimed I raped you? We met on the social media, I took you to a club, I spent N500,000 popping Champaign cos (because) of you and we had sex when am (sic) high and you call it rape? In 2017, you didn’t report to the police. In 2018, you didn’t report to the police. In 2019, you decided to blackmail me.

“This two people (sic) and Blessing should be held responsible if anything happens to me. You came to visit me cos (because) you know I have money. We went to a club; I bought drinks worth half a million naira; we had sex inside my car you claimed I raped you just to tarnish my image.

“We discussed sex before you came; all this happened in 2017. None of you reported me to the police. In 2019 cos (because I) am supporting PDP and my bestie is contesting under APC, she sponsored this thread to destroy me.”

Asiwaju stated further that the saga claimed the life of his ailing mother after she read the post online, adding that the blackmail had destroyed his family.

He wrote further, “This story made me lose my mum. Even when I called, I pleaded with these people to take down the post; that my mother just had (a) heart surgery. Imagine if I wanna pay back but I won’t cos I won’t be available.

“My advice for Nigeria girls; when you meet a guy, you like him cos he is rich; you talk sex before meeting him; don’t call it rape when he sleeps with you.

“What will you gain from this blackmail? Imagine if I decided to come after you and your family? But I won’t. Now that you have blackmailed and destroyed me, wetin u gain (What did you gain)? My mother is gone cos of this; I can be gone too cos right now I’m not myself anymore.

“If you all want me to expose you, I still have your fucking nudes on my phone. Did I force you to send me nudes? Do you really wanna (want to) get exposed?”

Enraged Asiwaju subsequently posted a nude picture of one of the girlfriends purportedly sent to him. He also uploaded an 11-second video clip, showing a faceless naked woman caressing him erotically.

He continued, “You sent me this (a picture exposing breast and private parts) and we clubbed together; got high and you called me a rapist just to tarnish my image.

“Someone DM this (another nude picture) to me on Twitter; why do you people want us to expose ourselves? Plenty big gals (girls) on this platform send me nudes that they want me. When I sleep with them and stop talking to them, they blackmail me.

“I don’t care anymore. My mother is dead. I’ll expose all of you. Why will you destroy me when I told you my mother just had (a) heart surgery? Now she’s gone; everyone is crying cos of your stupidity. Are you happy now?

“You claimed I raped you. Bring police report. You feel blackmail will destroy me. Today might be the last time I tweet or breathe. Before you blackmail someone, think about their mental health. Are you happy now for destroying Asiwaju? Are you really happy Blessing?”

Oshiomhole, El-Rufai Attack Atiku Over Trip To America

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomole and Kaduna state Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai have launched verbal attack on the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar over his United State trip which got many excited.

The duo who spoke in Kaduna on Friday, as the presidential campaign train of the APC hit Kaduna, say Atiku should come and explain to Nigerians why he couldn’t go to America for 12 years, rather than celebrating American visa as if it was a great achievement.

The party chairman said, “the fundamental issues of the campaign were the pronouncements by the PDP presidential candidate to sell the NNPC just as they sold out NITEL, NEPA, Nigerian Airways and other government agencies saying that the people should resist that move by not voting for them.

“It was under the watch of Atiku as Vice President that all the textile and other factories in Kaduna closed down. He has even said that, if he is elected, he will sell NNPC refineries.

“That is why he has travelled to where he will negotiate for the sale of our assets. He has gone to assure them that, if he elected as Nigerian President, he will sell all our assets to them. He thinks Nigerians are stupid, but we are not,” he said.

Oshiomhole declared that, “with what I have seen here today, the APC has already won the general elections. I am therefore calling on you to ensure that you vote for all of the candidates of the APC from top to down during the general elections.”

On his part, Governor Nasir El-Rufai said, “Your excellency, while you were in Delta State, Atiku Abubakar went to the United State to report to his masters, those that are controlling him. He is in America, after begging for visa for 12 years.

“But it is disturbing that, people in the PDP are celebrating instead of crying. So, all of a sudden, going to America is now an achievement. Mr. President, I first went to America when I was 22 years old. So, it is not an achievement.

“Nigerians will not vote those who will take their money to America. Nigerians will not vote those who will go to America to seek Trump’s blessing before they will come and contest in Nigeria.

“In fact, he should come and explain to Nigerians why he could not go to America in the last 12 years.”

Reacting, Atiku said the APC and the Presidency have entered panic mode and should be ignored as they are running out of ideas and excuses for their failures since 2015. He said Nigerians now have a choice to vote him next month and experience true development in all sectors.

CJN Onnoghen To Be Arrested? FG Asks Court To Sack Him

The Federal Government has filed a motion before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, asking for the removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, be removed as the CJN and the chairman of the National Judicial Council.

According to documents obtained by The Punch, the motion was filed by Musa Ibrahim and Fatima Danjuma Ali on behalf of the Attorney-General of the Federation on Thursday.

The move, according to the government, is aimed at ensuring that Onnoghen is not a judge in his case and that the next in line of seniority, Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, becomes the acting CJN pending the determination of the substantive suit.

The plaintiff asked the court to compel President Muhammadu Buhari to name the next most senior judge as the acting CJN and chairman of the NJC.

The motion on notice was brought in pursuance of Section 6(6) Paragraph 11 (1) of the Fifth Schedule, Part 1 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

The Federal Government prayed the tribunal for an interlocutory order “directing the defendant/respondent to step aside as the Chief Justice of Nigeria and chairman of the National Judicial Council over an allegation of contravening the provision of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act CAP C15 Laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004 pending the determination of the case.

“An interlocutory order of the honourable tribunal directing the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to take all necessary measures to swear in the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court as an acting Chief Justice and chairman of the National Judicial Council in order to prevent a vacuum in the judicial arm of government pending the determination of the case.”

The fresh move against Onnoghen came after the National Industrial Court, Abuja, had on Monday restrained the Chairman of the CCT, Danladi Umar, the AGF, the Code of Conduct Bureau and the police from removing Onnoghe.

Opposition alleges move to arrest Onnoghen on Tuesday 
Meanwhile, the opposition political parties on Friday claimed they had uncovered a plan by the Federal Government to arrest Onnoghen on Tuesday.

The first national spokesperson of the Coalition of United Political Parties, Imo Ugochinyere, made the claim at a press conference in Abuja on Friday.

Ugochinyere said the arrest would be carried out shortly after a bench warrant would have been issued by the CCT against Onnoghen.

He added that arrangements had been concluded to immediately name Justice Justice Ibrahim Muhammad as acting CJN. He said Nigeria’s democracy was currently in danger.

“Members of the cabal in the Presidency have just concluded a meeting last night (Thursday) where they have now set the stage to burn down the institution of democracy and constitutional governance for the purpose of achieving a narrow aim of annexing the judiciary..."

Lagos Businessman Accused Of R*pe Cries Out, Commits Suicide

The founder of Asiwaju Royal Furniture in Ojo, Lagos, Michael Asiwaju, popularly known as Mike Cash, has taken his own life following several r*pe allegations against him.

City Round learnt that Asiwaju died at a hotel in Lagos.

He was said to have taken a poisonous substance suspected to be Sniper and was met lifeless in his hotel room around 12am on January 13, 2019.

It was learnt that the father of one had checked into the hotel in the evening of the previous day.

Shortly before he committed suicide, he had expressed his intention via his Twitter handle, Asiwaju_limited, to end his life.

“Goodbye I’ll die soon. (I) am gone,” he tweeted at 7.35pm on Saturday, January 12.

Asiwaju was prominent on the social media platform with about 24,700 followers.

The post was the last of several tweets the deceased broadcast last Saturday, between 5.52pm and 7.35pm, in response to the allegations.

Last week, a Twitter user, @thatgoddess, had called out Asiwaju, noting that she had information about how he raped a woman inside his car. She, however, said facts about the allegation were still sketchy.

Later on, she posted a chat history between her and an unnamed woman, who claimed to have been raped by the young businessman sometime in May 2017.

In the chat history, the woman alleged that Asiwaju lured her into a hotel in Festac and forcefully slept with her.

The woman’s chat read in part, “I don’t want anyone linking me to this. He raped me. His full name is Michael Asiwaju. He owns a furniture company. He’s also known as Mike Cash. He is mostly in Festac. He tried to lure me with money and gifts. He was asking me out and I refused. I was just fine being friends with him because he was a controlling person.

“He said I’m his girlfriend and I just laughed about it cos (because) I never agreed to be his girlfriend. He always wanted me to come see him but I always refused. Then, he accused me of sleeping around with men. I ignored him and then he apologised. So he called me and said I should come hang out with him and his friends at the beach.

“So I thought it was okay to go see him since it was an open place and his friends were gonna (going) be there. So when it was time to leave the beach, he was supposed to drop me off at Lekki Phase I; then I’d get Uber to take me to my house. He also had to drop one of his friends at his hotel. So we were all in the car and then his friend dropped midway.

“Mike said we had to go to his friend’s hotel to wait for him. I didn’t even understand what was going on but I didn’t mind cos (because) we were not alone. His cousin was there too.”

The accuser stated that when they arrived at the hotel, she waited at the lobby instead of checking into a room with Asiwaju. She explained that his cousin drove out in Asiwaju’s car and promised to come back soon.

She continued, “Mike kept telling me to go chill in the room instead of waiting at the lobby. He kept assuring me that I’d be okay. So I went to the room; (the) biggest mistake of my life. I really trusted that nigga.

“I was alone for a while, then he came in and locked the door. I started to panic. He started touching me and all that. I told him I wasn’t in the mood. So he said I was his girlfriend and he would have s*x with me whether I was in the mood or not. I started to fight him and he became aggressive.”

But while replying to the allegations last Saturday on his Twitter page, @Asiwaju_limited, the late businessman said the women accusing him of rape were actually his girlfriends who he met on social media platforms.

He posted pictures of two of the purported girlfriends, claiming that they had fun together sometime in 2017 at a club, where he spent N500,000.

Asiwaju alleged that his former business partner, one Blessing, was behind the blackmail.

He wrote, “I (am) here, I’ll need to say my own side of the story. I know my former business partner sponsored this blackmail to destroy me cos (because) she’s contesting on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

“You all claimed I raped you? We met on the social media, I took you to a club, I spent N500,000 popping Champaign cos (because) of you and we had s*x when am (sic) high and you call it rape? In 2017, you didn’t report to the police. In 2018, you didn’t report to the police. In 2019, you decided to blackmail me.

“This two people (sic) and Blessing should be held responsible if anything happens to me. You came to visit me cos (because) you know I have money. We went to a club; I bought drinks worth half a million naira; we had s*x inside my car you claimed I raped you just to tarnish my image.

“We discussed s*x before you came; all this happened in 2017. None of you reported me to the police. In 2019 cos (because I) am supporting PDP and my bestie is contesting under APC, she sponsored this thread to destroy me.”

Asiwaju stated further that the saga claimed the life of his ailing mother after she read the post online, adding that the blackmail had destroyed his family.

He wrote further, “This story made me lose my mum. Even when I called, I pleaded with these people to take down the post; that my mother just had (a) heart surgery. Imagine if I wanna pay back but I won’t cos I won’t be available.

“My advice for Nigeria girls; when you meet a guy, you like him cos he is rich; you talk s*x before meeting him; don’t call it r*pe when he sleeps with you.

“What will you gain from this blackmail? Imagine if I decided to come after you and your family? But I won’t. Now that you have blackmailed and destroyed me, wetin u gain (What did you gain)? My mother is gone cos of this; I can be gone too cos right now I’m not myself anymore.

“If you all want me to expose you, I still have your f*cking n*des on my phone. Did I force you to send me nudes? Do you really wanna (want to) get exposed?”

Enraged Asiwaju subsequently posted a n*de picture of one of the girlfriends purportedly sent to him. He also uploaded an 11-second video clip, showing a faceless n*ked woman caressing him erotically.

He continued, “You sent me this (a picture exposing bre*st and private parts) and we clubbed together; got high and you called me a r*pist just to tarnish my image.

“Someone DM this (another n*de picture) to me on Twitter; why do you people want us to expose ourselves? Plenty big gals (girls) on this platform send me n*des that they want me. When I sleep with them and stop talking to them, they blackmail me.

“I don’t care anymore. My mother is dead. I’ll expose all of you. Why will you destroy me when I told you my mother just had (a) heart surgery? Now she’s gone; everyone is crying cos of your stupidity. Are you happy now?

“You claimed I r*ped you. Bring police report. You feel blackmail will destroy me. Today might be the last time I tweet or breathe. Before you blackmail someone, think about their mental health. Are you happy now for destroying Asiwaju? Are you really happy Blessing?”

Further showing signs of being suicidal, Asiwaju, a single father, said his son would not live a regrettable life as he had made enough money for him to live on when he (Asiwaju) was no longer alive.

“My mother is gone. What am I doing here? Let’s get dirty on social media; stop calling me again to stop posting. Asiwaju r*ped you; tell Nigerians what led us to s*x. Don’t sugarcoat things to spoil my image.

“I met her on Twitter. She sucked my ass; she called me the richest guy she had ever met in her life and she’s among the people blackmailing me on Twitter. Imagine if I post her real face online. Goodbye I’ll die soon. (I) am gone,” he ended the tweets at 7.35pm.

Four days after the controversy played out, a police source told City Round that Asiwaju had actually killed himself at a hotel in Festac.

Although the time he arrived at the hotel could not be ascertained, it was gathered that his corpse was found in the room around 12am last Sunday.

The source said, “He checked into the hotel with another name entirely. He wrote his name as Prince Moses. For now, no one knew why he used another name. It was later discovered that his face was the same as that of a young businessman prominent on Twitter. The suicide might not be unconnected with rape allegations against him in the social media.”

Buhari Govt Goes After Atiku, To Now Quiz Him For Corruption... Atiku calls it "Cock & Bull" Story

The Federal Government said on Friday it was in possession of fresh evidence allegedly linking the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to the collapse of Bank PHB.

It said Atiku had questions to answer in connection with

an alleged N156m slush fund that he took from the bank through Claremont Management Services Account on 13th January, 2009.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, made the allegation in Abuja while speaking with State House correspondents on whether the government was disturbed that the former VP got a United States visa and travelled to the US on Thursday.

Mohammed claimed the government was not bothered about the trip but added that he must clear his name of corruption allegations, especially his alleged role in the collapse of Bank PHB.

The minister said, “I have come to make few remarks about the recent visit of the presidential candidate of the PDP to the US. You can recall that a few weeks ago, I did issue a statement advising the US Government not to issue a visa to Atiku.

“Remember also that in that same press conference, I also stated that it remained the prerogative of the US government to issue visa to anyone it deemed fit.

“Let me say right away that we are not perturbed one bit that Alhaji Atiku Abukakar was able to secure a visa to the US. As a matter of fact, he can go ahead and get the US Green Card; that will not save him from imminent defeat in the forthcoming election.

He added, “I want to remind Abubakar that the elections will be right here in Nigeria and not in the US. In any event, any time Abubakar returns home, he has questions to answer following the fresh evidence that we have that he benefited from slush funds that led to the collapse of former Bank PHB.

“The document we have shows he benefited to the tune of N156m from that slush fund.

“The paper which we have here started from an internal memo on January 13, 2009, which reads, ‘Please refer for discussion, your requested overdraft in favour of Atiku Abubakar for N156m and deliver same to me.

“Please note that it must be delivered today (January 13) on the same date'."

The minister stated that there was a second memo, which confirmed the receipt of the money requested.

He quoted from the second memo, which reads, “Please confirm that the amount stated below be issued from Claremont Management Services account.”

He said, “And we have evidence here of the account mandate, the name of Atiku Abubakar; we also have a copy of the cheque in which the sum of N156m was issued to Atiku Abubakar, dated January 13, 2009.

“And of course, we also have a statement of account within that period that confirms that this sum was actually paid into his account.

“These are fresh evidence as to his involvement in the collapse of Bank PHB. So, we want him to stay as long as he wants in the US, but as soon as he comes back, he has to explain to the electorate and to Nigerians what his role was in the collapse of the former Bank PHB.”

Lai Mohammed, however, claimed that the visa the US gave to Atiku was an indirect endorsement of the PDP presidential candidate for the February 16 polls by the US government.

In his reaction, Atiku mocked the Federal Government for failing to stop the United States government from granting him visa, saying with or without a trip to the US, the PDP would dislodge the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress at next month’s election.

He also dismissed as cock and bull story, the allegation that he had a case to answer.

Okorocha's Suspension By APC: Angry Reactions

The factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, Chief Dan Nwafor, has described the suspension of the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, from the party as illegal.

Nwafor, who addressed journalists at the state APC secretariat on Friday, insisted that the suspension was null and void.

According to him, he (Nwafor) had already suspended the chairman of the State Caretaker Committee, Prince Marcellinius Nlemigbo, even before he (Nlemigbo) announced Okorocha’s suspension on Thursday night.

He declared that Nlemigbo lacked the authority to suspend the governor.

“I was duly authorised and inaugurated by the National Working Committee of the party headed by the party’s National Chairman, Adam’s Oshiomhole.

“The photographs and video clips to that effect are in the public domain. What authority does Nlemigbo have to suspend our amiable governor? As far as Imo APC is concerned, that suspension is null and void,” Nwafor said.

He noted that there was a subsisting court case in the Federal High Court, Owerri, in which he sued Independent National Electoral Commission, Oshiomhole, Nlemigbo and others, adding that until the matter was decided, Nlemigbo does not have the right to parade himself as the party chairman in the state.

He also declared that Okorocha remains the APC Senatorial candidate for Imo West.

He further described the Mathew Omegara-led disciplinary committee constituted by Nlemigbo as a ‘Kangaroo committee’, alleging that those appointed into the committee were not party members.

Nwafor also attacked Oshiomhole, saying that he lacked what it takes to be the national chairman of a ruling party like the APC.

“Oshiomhole is a square peg in a round hole, he does not mean well for the APC,” he said.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that despite the suspension, Okorocha has commenced campaigns for the senatorial election.

Family Of LASTMA Officer Who Was Murdered On Duty Get N10m Compensation

The family of late Adeyemo Rotimi Oke, a traffic officer with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who was killed by a policeman while on duty,  has received the ten million Naira compensation, promised by the Lagos State Government.

In a statement signed by LASTMA’s Head, Public Affairs, Mamud Hassan, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Taiwo Salam, presented the cheque on Friday to the family of the deceased at their Ipaja residence.

Adeyemo Rotimi Oke was murdered by a policeman, Olukunle Olonade in December 2018 at Iyana Ipaja while he was controlling traffic.

While presenting the cheque, Salam paid tribute to the late Adeyemo. The Punch reports that he described him as a dedicated, loyal and committed traffic officer and employee of the state government that would not be forgotten for a very long time.

Salam said Adeyemo’s death on duty showed his commitment to restoring law and order to Lagos roads and in the process, paid the supreme price.

While praying for the repose of his soul, the Permanent Secretary enjoined his family to put his children’s education and future on the front burner, when making decisions.

In his comments, the General Manager of the agency, Mr. Olawale Musa described Adeyemo as a hero and someone who lost his life in the service of God and humanity.

Musa said the agency in appreciation of his contribution to reducing lawlessness, chaos and impunity on Lagos roads has instituted a merit award to reward hard-working staff.

“The award tagged Bakare-Adeyemo Merit Award was instituted two weeks ago to keep his memory alive and that of Late Siraj Bakare who was killed in similar circumstances green in the hearts of colleagues.”

He assured that these gallant officers have not died in vain as their good work will continue to be valued by the agency forever.

The head of the family thanked the state government and Governor Akinwumi Ambode for living up to his word and that the family will not forget his swift response and compensation in their time of needs and that the money will be invested to the benefit and future of his family.

Fayose Reacts To Atiku's Trip To America, Hits Buhari

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to ensure he attends the presidential debate slated for this Saturday.

Presidential debate for candidates of political parties is billed to hold on January 19.

Mr Fayose, head of the South West campaign organisation of Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the call on Friday.

Messrs Buhari and Abubakar are major contestants in the presidential election scheduled for February 16. They are expected to participate in the debate.

There are insinuations in some quarters that the president who seeks a second term in office will dodge the debate. As at press time, it could not verify if Buhari would be present at the parley.

“They challenged @atiku to travel to US, he is there now. We are challenging President Buhari to come and debate tomorrow, no excuse!” Fayose tweeted.

Young Soldiers On Their Way To Maiduguri To Fight Boko Haram

In the service of motherland. A young Nigerian soldier identified as Oluwatosin from Ibadan, Oyo state, has shared photos showing soldiers preparing to travel to Maiduguri, Borno state capital to fight Boko Haram insurgents.
