National Council of State has pegged the National Minimum wage at N27,000. This amount is for the least paid workers in the states and the private sector.
However, Federal Government workers will take home N30,000 as their minimum wage. The Council arrived at this decision at its meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, has just confirmed the development to State House Correspondents in Abuja.

The Non-Academic Staff Union of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, on Tuesday embarked on a peaceful protest over unpaid salary arrears. The protest disrupted both academic and administrative activities on the institution’s campus as the entrance gates were locked.
A NAN correspondent, who monitored the development, also reports that there was traffic snarl in front of the institution on the Sango – Eleyele road as workers, students and visitors were locked out by the striking union.
The Chairman of the union, Ibrahim Akande, said NASU had embarked on indefinite industrial action since Jan. 14 and had yet to receive the attention of the school’s management and the government.
“We are agitating for eight months salary arrears owed us by the government since 2017. “We have held series of meeting with the management and Oyo State Government all to no avail.
“So we are agitating for our right; we have shut down the institution because there is nothing we can do than to go on strike. “We are staging a peaceful protest and there will be a press conference at the NLC secretariat today(Tuesday),” Akande said.
President Muhammadu Buhari today met behind closed doors with members of the National Council of State at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting comprises of past presidents and heads of state, Chief Justices of Nigeria (CJN), leadership of the National Assembly, state governors among others.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the removal of the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund,Tetfund,Dr Abdullahi Bichi Baffa.
The president, in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Education, released to the media through the Deputy Director, Information, Mr Bem Goong, said Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro, was reappointed to take over the TETFund as the Executive Secretary.
The terse statement which was captioned: “Bogoro reinstated as Executive Secretary of TETfund”, read:
”The Federal Government has approved the re-instatement of Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro as the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).”
A statement from the Office of the Honourable Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said, the re-instatement of Prof. Bogoro is with immediate effect, with the same terms and conditions as it were in his previous appointment and as stipulated in the TETFUND staff conditions of service.
“Prof. Suleiman Bogoro was the Executive Secretary of TETFUND between April 2014 and February 2016.” No explanation was given for the action.

That's freaking massive! The growing concentration of the world’s wealth has been highlighted by a report showing that the 26 richest billionaires own as many assets as the 3.8 billion people who make up the poorest half of the planet’s population.
In an annual wealth check released to mark the start of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the development charity Oxfam said 2018 had been a year in which the rich had grown richer and the poor poorer.
It said the widening gap was hindering the fight against poverty, adding that a wealth tax on the 1% would raise an estimated $418bn (£325bn) a year – enough to educate every child not in school and provide healthcare that would prevent 3 million deaths.
Oxfam said the wealth of more than 2,200 billionaires across the globe had increased by $900bn in 2018 – or $2.5bn a day. The 12% increase in the wealth of the very richest contrasted with a fall of 11% in the wealth of the poorest half of the world’s population.
As a result, the report concluded, the number of billionaires owning as much wealth as half the world’s population fell from 43 in 2017 to 26 last year. In 2016 the number was 61.
The son of ex-music mogul and convicted felon Suge Knight has claimed, yet again, that Tupac Shakur is still alive.
Suge J Knight even boasted that he was working on new music with the legendary rapper and actor in the studio - despite accounts of Tupac's death following a drive-by shooting in September of 1996.

A woman with terminal brain cancer has told of her devastation after her fiancé dumped her just a week before their wedding.
Emily Nicholson, 24, from York, saw her weight soar by five dress sizes within six weeks after she began taking steroids as part of her treatment.
The aspiring model moved to Australia in 2012 where she worked as a bar manager and club promoter before being diagnosed with astrocytoma brain cancer in February 2016.
In spite of the disease, Emily and her then-boyfriend Jamie Smith, 24, had already began making plans to get married when she was given the devastating news in January 2017 that she had just a year left to live.
The once slender size 6 claims Jamie called off their engagement just one week before they were set to get married using Facebook Messenger - a claim he denies.
Emily, who gained 5 stone as a result of treatment for her tumour, initially planned to wed Jamie in August 2016 but the couple had to postpone their wedding until March 2017 because she needed surgery.
The pair also discussed freezing Emily's eggs so she could one day have IVF if she recovered.
Speaking about the moment she received the message from New Zealander Jamie, saying he wanted to 'call it a day', Emily says: 'Jamie messaged me and said he didn't want to be with me and he hadn't loved me for a long time.
'It was horrendous. He made it very clear that he didn't love me. I felt it was because of the way I looked and what had happened.
'Now I don't feel anything about him, he hurt me but there's no point getting upset over it. I've just had to be strong about it all.'
'He told me he didn't love me anymore. For months he'd been going out with his friends but obviously I couldn't do that.
'We were looking to build our lives together in the time we had left.'
Jamie, who works as a cable layer, has denied the allegations stating he broke up with Emily just before they were due to marry.
He says: 'It was the other way around, she actually left me, I never left her. And, secondly, I never left her for anything to do with her weight gain.
'If that was the case I would have left her months before we split up, because she started putting weight on before that. It had nothing to do with that at all.'
Emily's family moved back to the UK in July 2017 after Emily was given her diagnosis and set up a GoFundMe page in the hopes of fundraising enough money for her to have access to the pioneering immunotherapy vaccine which will cost £30,000.
