Notorious Robber Operating Will Two Guns Busted In Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Olalekan Ogundoju for conniving with a fleeing suspect to snatch a Toyota Corolla car from its owner, Ogadinma Ikeagu.

Ikeagu, who used the car with number plate KJA 69 FE, for a ride-hailing service under Uber, was said to have picked the suspects, who posed as passengers, around 11.50pm in the Afrikan Shrine area of Alausa, Ikeja.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said in a statement on Sunday that operatives of the command, who were on crime prevention patrol, came across Ikeagu crying for help because of his stolen car, adding that a chase in the direction of the fleeing suspects led to the arrest of Ogundoju around the Victoria Island area of the state.

Oti said, “On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, around 11.50pm, the anti-crime patrol team of the Maroko Police Station, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Isah Abdulmajid, while on crime prevention patrol, came across one Ogadinma Ikeagu, who was crying for help. He narrated that his Toyota Corolla saloon car, with number plate KJA 69 FE, had just been snatched by two passengers he picked up at the Afrikan Shrine.

“The DPO took the driver in his patrol vehicle and they drove in the same direction taken by the thieves while escaping with the car. Fortunately for the distressed Uber driver, the police team was able to intercept the car in Victoria Island.

“Although one of the suspected thieves escaped, the team arrested the partner in crime, one Ogundoju Olalekan of No. 14 Shomorin Street, Ifako, Gbagada. He was immediately searched and two wooden prototypes of Berratta pistols were recovered from him.

“On interrogation, he confessed to have committed the crime.”

The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, had directed that the fleeing member of the syndicate must be arrested and made to face the law.

Buhari To Meet APC Senators To Stop Impeachment Move Over Suspension Of CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned members of the All Progressives Congress in the Senate to a meeting at the Presidential Villa on Monday (today) over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

There are fears that some PDP senators will move to impeach Buhari.

Onnoghen was suspended on Friday by President Buhari based on an ex parte order granted by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

He is facing six counts of false assets declaration filed against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

Buhari’s meeting with the APC governors will take place ahead of the Senate emergency resumption on Tuesday (tomorrow) when decisions are expected to be taken on Onnoghen’s suspension by the President.

The APC senators’ meeting with the President, it was gathered, would take a position to counter the expected condemnation of the CJN’s suspension by the members of the opposition in the Senate on Tuesday.

However, the meeting which is going to hold at the Banquet Hall, is being tagged as a dinner. Invitations to the meeting were signed by the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, who is also the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi.

A source close to the organisers of the meeting who spoke with The Punch, said the national leadership of the APC would also attend the meeting.

He said apart from the senators and the APC leaders, some APC governors had also been invited to the meeting.

He said, “You know that the Senate leadership belongs to the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party. The party on its own has taken a position on this matter.

“Also, the President of the Senate, who is also the Director General of the PDP presidential candidate Council, Bukola Saraki, has taken a position on this matter.

“So, we need to talk to our members in the Senate and impress it on them not to allow Saraki to impose his personal opinion on them.”

Finally, INEC Removes Amina Zakari From Collation Of Results

As part of its commitment to transparency during next month’s poll, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has excluded all its National Commissioners, including the controversial Amina Zakari, from the collation of presidential poll results and other strands of elections.

The commission has also decided to throw open
its Situation Room to accredited observers, civil society organisations and the media.

About one million (1m) Nigerians have applied for poll jobs as ad hoc staff. But INEC is still grappling with 639 court cases, arising from party primaries, barely 20 days to the general elections.

It, however, said it is impossible for anyone, no matter how smart, to compromise Card Readers.

According to a source, who spoke in strict confidence, neither the widely-criticised National Commissioner Amina Zakari nor any of the National Commissioners will be involved in the collation of presidential poll results.

The source also said the Resident Electoral Commissioners have no business with collation of results.

The source said: “No National Commissioner is in charge of collation of presidential poll results. It is true that there is what is called Collation Centre but it is separate from the Collation Secretariat, which is responsible for the collation of results.

"No National Commissioner will be appointed into the Secretariat Committee. So, Hajiya Amina Zakari or any National Commissioner does not have anything to do with the collation of results.”

Regarding preparation for the general elections, the source said: “Our plans are on course, we are happy with the speed..."

APC Headquarters Sacks Okorocha As Head Of Campaign

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has removed the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, as the state coordinator of the party’s campaign council.

The decision followed strong recommendation of the
disciplinary committee set up by the Imo APC over allegations of anti-party activities levelled against the governor and others.

The committee chaired by Mathew Omegara had earlier summoned the governor and six others to appear before it.

The National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, had said the National Working Committee of the party would meet to consider the Imo APC recommendation that Okorocha should be suspended.

“What has happened in Imo shows that the APC means business. Once they have complied with all the rules, no problem. When they bring the recommendation to the NWC, we will look at it,” he had said.

But a member of the Imo State chapter of the APC told The Punch that Okorocha had already been removed by the NWC as the campaign coordinator of the party.

Okorocha had vowed to work for his son-in-law, who is the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, Uche Nwosu, against the APC candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

The member said, “The party has already removed Okorocha as the coordinator and directed Uzodinma to take over the campaign council. During the visit of the wife of the President to the state for campaign, the governor invited his son-in-law to the stage and raised his hands up. This jolted many of us who saw it as an affront to the President’s wife and the party.”

When contacted for verification on Sunday, Issa-Onilu said the removal of Okorocha was instant since his suspension came from his ward.

He said the implication of Okorocha’s suspension was that he could no longer function as the state coordinator.

Issa-Onilu said, “The APC had directed governors to take over the campaign of the party in the state. Where it has no governor, it directed governorship candidate to take over. Since Okorocha has displayed anti-party traits, you can’t expect him to be part of our strategic meetings again.”

CNJ Onnoghen Goes To Court To Challenge Buhari

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, will on Monday (today) challenge his suspension by President Muhammadu Buhari in a competent courtin the Fact, Abuja.

This is just as the National Judicial Council’s 88th meeting in Abuja has been delayed following fears of a possible clash between supporters of Onnoghen and the acting CJN, Justice Tanko Mohammed.

A senior advocate, who is a member of Onnoghen’s legal team, told The Punch that it had become necessary to do so as the suspension of a CJN by a President was unprecedented.

He said, “We will be going to court to challenge the suspension of the CJN. The President relied on a CCT order despite the fact that the Court of Appeal had restrained all parties from removing the chief justice.

“The CJN was not even served with the court processes before he was removed by the President. So, all these will be challenged in court. When the processes have been filed, the documents will be made public.”

When asked why the CJN waited for three days before challenging his removal, the source said, “He was suspended late on Friday and you know courts do not sit on Saturday and Sunday.”

NJC holds emergency meeting Tuesday
Meanwhile, the National Judicial Council has fixed an emergency meeting for Tuesday (tomorrow) in Abuja by 10am.

The meeting, one of our correspondents learnt, was called over the Friday suspension of Onnoghen by President Buhari.

The spokesperson for the NJC, Mr Soji Oye, confirmed the meeting in a statement on Sunday night. He said the notice of the meeting had already been sent by the Secretary of the council, Ahmed Saleh, to members.

“The meeting will hold on Tuesday and notice has been sent to members. I can confirm this to you. It is different from the rumour that was in circulation before that a meeting had been fixed for Monday,” Oye said.

Pregnant Lady Killed By BRT In Lagos Days To Her Wedding

This is quite sad. A lady was on Sunday knocked down by a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Blue Bus belonging to Primero Transport Service while crossing the vehicles’ corridor in Lagos.

The lady was crushed by the bus and, sadly, she died instantly.

The incident occurred around 1pm a short distance from Irawo Bus Stop, Ajegunle along Mile 12/Ikorodu Road.

An eye witness said the lady who was pregnant and lived along Thomas Street, Irawo was attempting to cross the corridor to see her sister who lives on the other side of the express road.

It was gathered that the lady was to be married this weekend.

Eye witnesses said that the lady, without looking at the two sides of the corridor, ran into the bus which was coming from Ikorodu and going towards Lagos.

It was gathered that the bus driver ran to Irawo Police Station and reported the incident. Irate youths in the area however attacked the bus and vandalized the vehicle, shattering its windscreen and windows.

The incident caused confusion and traffic hold-up on the expressway as vehicle owners made frantic efforts to get away from the trouble spot.

Police from Irawo police Station moved in and succeeded in dispersing the crowd and brought the driver of the bus into custody while the bus was driven to their station.

As a result of the incident, other Blue Buses coming from Ikorodu had to discharge their passengers at Ajegunle while those coming from Palm Groove end of the express road discharged theirs at Mile 12 to prevent the vehicles from being vandalized.

Buhari Now Jittery After Warning From US, UK — Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, says President Muhammadu Buhari and the cabal running his government have become jittery following the statements of condemnation issued by the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shuaibu, the former Vice-President urged Buhari to ensure that next month’s elections are free and fair or face the consequences.

He said, “Buhari’s cabal is unhappy with the statements from the US, the British and the EU because they know that these world powers have agreed to re-route their latest and most technologically sophisticated spy satellites, including the NAOL-47 satellite, to provide comprehensive coverage over Nigeria on February 16.

“The photographs these satellites will deliver cannot only show someone reading a newspaper but also which newspaper they are reading.”

Recall that the Federal Government had, in a statement through Garba Shehu, stated that, “The nation’s security forces will confront any attempt to interfere with the process by elements from outside the country.”

Atiku, however, expressed concerns over the “desperation of the APC to rig the forthcoming elections;” and advised INEC, the military and the Police not to allow themselves to be used by “those interested in turning Nigeria’s democracy on its head.”

Aisha Buhari On CJN: I Never Condemned His Suspension

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has denied condemning the recent suspension of former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Onnoghen by her husband.

Mrs Buhari in a statement through her Director, Information, Mr Suleiman Haruna, on Sunday in Abuja, described the news making rounds that she condemned Onnoghen’s removal as fake.

"The attention of wife of the President has been drawn to a post on social media to the effect that she condemned the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

"It is important to inform Nigerians that wife of the President has not made any public statements on the matter and therefore the commentary is untrue and fake.

“This is highly condemnable and we therefore advise the purveyors of such news to recant and desist henceforth,” the statement added.

It would be recalled that the former CJN was suspended by President Buhari following a 'suspect' recommendation of the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Bride Forced Into Marriage Explains How Disabled Groom R*ped Her As His Mum Gave Instructions

A bride forced into an arranged marriage has described how her disabled groom r-ped her - as his mum told him how to from the door.

Brave Sunny Angel says her new husband, who had learning difficulties, looked terrified as he forced himself on her on their wedding night.

With the "mental age of a child", he was allegedly instructed by his mother, who stood by the door to make sure the marriage was 'consummated'.

And afterwards, he asked her: "I've done it now, can I have the chocolate?"

Sunny, then only 20, also claims her groom was shown porn by his mum so he could learn how to have s-x and provide her with a "grandson".

She says the wedding night rape was the first of numerous attacks - with her mother-in-law standing outside "every time we had s-x" afterwards.

But remarkably, she told Mirror Online she doesn't blame her "vulnerable" ex-husband, saying he was exploited "in the name of honour".

"Many disabled people are vulnerable and forced to rape by parents just like my ex-husband was," Sunny claimed.

"All in the name of honour. It's disturbing. It's very wrong."

Now aged 40 and living in Surrey, she says her groom, referred to by the pseudonym Ajay, seemed to be "under orders" to attack her.

"I could see in his eyes he didn't want to rape me or hit me," she told The Sun of the first rape, which allegedly happened in the late 1990s.

Speaking of her groom's mum, she added: "She'd say, 'I want a grandson, you have to do this', then stand outside the door every time we had sex telling him what to do, it felt like he was under orders to do it.

"He didn't even want me to see him naked. He seemed really scared."

Sunny, who was raised as a Hindu, had been matched with Ajay by her parents, who had started planning for her wedding when she was 19.

Back then, forced marriage wasn't illegal like it is today.

She says the then-25-year-old vowed to treat her "like a princess" and sent her love letters - which had actually been penned by his mother.

In reality, Ajay, who also lived in the UK, couldn't read or write.

Describing her ordeal last year, Sunny said: "When he would call me on the phone, it was actually someone else pretending to be him.

"The cards he sent me were written by his mum."

According to the Daily Mail, she added: "During the wedding was the first time we spoke face to face and he asked me if I was going to be his wife...

"All he said was that his mum told him he had to consummate the marriage."

It was after the couple's 1999 wedding at a Hindu temple - which felt more "like a funeral" - that Sunny learned about her groom's disabilities.

Seven Months After XXXTentacion's Death, Girlfriend Welcomes Their Son

Seven months after XXXTentacion was shot dead, the rapper’s son has been born. Jenesis Sanchez, XXXTentacion’s girlfriend, gave birth on Saturday to baby boy Gekyume Onfroy. The birth was announced on Saturday evening by XXXTentacion’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard.

Gekyume’s name is derived from a word the rapper created before his death. His family defined it as meaning “a different state” or “next universe of thought”.

The 20-year-old rising star, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was fatally shot in June in Florida in what authorities said was a robbery attempt. Four men were indicted by a grand jury on suspicion of first-degree murder and armed robbery.

XXXTentacion’s sophomore album debuted at No1 on the Billboard charts last March. In December, a posthumous album also reached No1.

25-Year Old Kenyan Man Chops Off His Manhood After Getting Drunk

A man chopped off his manhood after a drinking session, but efforts to reattach it were hampered as panicking neighbours left the organ behind.

Sam Maina, 25, alerted residents about the gruesome act with chilling screams from his Kenya home in the early hours of the morning.

Neighbours raced him to hospital for life-saving surgery in Kericho but the operation was delayed because his p-nis was left behind on his bed.

Police then had to rush to the victim’s house to retrieve the blood-drenched organ.

He is now recovering after the bizarre drama as officials wait for him to reveal why he mutilated himself.

A neighbour claimed Maina had been boozing and may not have been “fully aware of what he was doing.” Seriois village issues? Lol

Roman Catholic Cathedral In Philippines BOMBED, 20 Killed, 81 Injured

Two bombs minutes apart tore through a Roman Catholic cathedral on a southern Philippine island where Muslim militants are active, killing at least 20 people and wounding 81 others during a Sunday Mass.

The first bomb went off in or near the Jolo cathedral in the provincial capital, followed by a second blast outside the compound as government forces were responding to the attack, security officials said. The blasts blew away the entrance to the cathedral and ripped through the main hall, shredding to pieces the pews and toppling other doors.

Police said at least 20 people died and 81 were wounded. The fatalities included 15 civilians and five troops. Among the wounded were 14 troops, two police and 65 civilians.

Photos showed debris and bodies lying on a busy street outside the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which has been hit by bombs in the past. Troops in armored carriers sealed off the main road leading to the church while vehicles transported the dead and wounded to the hospital. Some casualties were evacuated by air to nearby Zamboanga city.

"I have directed our troops to heighten their alert level, secure all places of worships and public places at once, and initiate pro-active security measures to thwart hostile plans," said Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana in a statement.

"We will pursue to the ends of the earth the ruthless perpetrators behind this dastardly crime until every killer is brought to justice and put behind bars. The law will give them no mercy," the office of President Rodrigo Duterte said in Manila.

Sack Of CJN: Nigeria Warns U.S., U.K Against Meddling In Country’s Internal Affairs

The Nigerian government has reacted to the position of both the United States of America and her United Kingdom counterpart on the suspension of the country’s Chief Justice, Walter Onnoghen.

A statement by Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant on media and publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, said as much as Nigeria welcomes interests and partnerships for a successful 2019 general elections, the government would not condone unfair interference in the country’s internal affairs.

Following the controversies generated by the suspension of Mr. Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday and the appointment of a successor in acting capacity, the United States, the United Kingdom and other foreign institutions issued statements advising the government to retrace its steps.
But the Federal Government on Saturday night strongly condemned the comments of the foreign countries on the suspension of the CJN, insisting that as a sovereign country, Nigeria deserves respect and honour.

The government statement came shortly after an Islamic socio-political group, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), attacked both the U.S. and the U.K. over their positions on the suspension of the CJN.

MURIC accused the two western countries of being too quick to make statements on the suspension without raising their voices against what it described as the weighty allegations against the CJN.
The statement by Mr. Shehu reads in part; “Nigeria reserves the right to be insulated from suggestions and or interference with respect to wholly internal affairs and commends international laws, customs and norms that mandate and require nations and the comity to respect this prerogative to all.

“Nigeria is confident of its electoral processes and her preparation for the imminent elections and the federal government has supported the independent electoral umpire in both its independence and resources needed to accomplish our desire and insistence on free and fair elections.

“In addition, the Federal government has ensured the independence of all organs, institutions and arms of government to perform their functions in a manner that is transparent and is not lacking in integrity whether institutionally or by persons within such institutions or organs and will continue to do this.

“Although the question of foreign interference, whether state-sponsored, promoted or otherwise has dominated recent elections and outcomes globally, the federal government assures citizens and the global community that it will fiercely and assiduously promote the will and the right of Nigerians to choose and elect their leaders without pressure or assistance from persons or entities that are not constitutionally empowered to participate in the process.”

Copyright Infringement: Tiwa Ignored Me When I Reached Out, Says Danny Young

Singer, Ajibola Olumuyiwa Danladi, aka Danny Young, is presently at war with Tiwa Savage over copyright infringement.

Recall that Tiwa had released a single titled, One, late last year. Shortly after, Danny Young alleged on his Instagram page that she took a line off his 2009 single, Oju ti Won. But Tiwa Savage refused to comment and went ahead to release the visuals of the song.

However, it seems that Danny Young has taken the case to YouTube. Presently, Tiwa Savage’s video has been taking off the video sharing platform.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Danny Young said he had left everything in the hands of his lawyers. He said, “I wasn’t the one who contacted YouTube. My lawyers handled the process; I didn’t know how they went about it. You know YouTube knows the right thing to do.”

Young insisted that before it got to this stage, his camp reached out to Tiwa Savage but she ignored them. He said, “She felt we couldn’t do anything. I am sure she and her team know that we have a valid point. We didn’t even ask them for money, but we felt intellectual theft should be taken seriously in this part of the world. This is just the beginning; I plan to see this to the end if she doesn’t reach us for a compromise.”

According to Danny Young, people, who are supporting Tiwa Savage on social media, are ignorant. He added, “When I first raised the issue, I was slammed. They said I was saying rubbish. As a professional, I believe in more action, less talk. For people who understand music, plagiarism and copyright infringement, they will understand my point. I don’t have any business with people on social media as I feel they are ignorant.

“People said she only used the same proverb and that I was not the originator of the proverb. They are not looking at the technicality and professionalism of it all. Is it the same rhythm, coordination and tone? All these are music terms that people don’t understand. If you copy someone’s work, they look at all these.”

While admitting that he loves her music, Danny Young said he has never met Tiwa Savage. “I am a fan just like she might be my fan too. I love her music; she does well and I am in support of anyone doing good music. I also like the music of Yemi Alade and Simi,” he stated.
