Buhari All Smiles As He Receives Father Mbaka In Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met behind closed doors with Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, at the State House, Abuja.

Mbaka, who arrived in a BMW car, was accompanied by a lady.

The outcome of the meeting between the president and Mbaka, which lasted about 35 minutes, was unknown at the time of filing this report.

Mbaka was also recently quoted in the social media as calling on Buhari to effect changes in his leadership style to cushion the hardships experienced by citizens.

“So let the will of God be done in Nigeria. It is like what I have been saying Buhari change or you will be changed," he had said while addressing members of his Adoration Ministry.

I Have Not Resigned, Suspended CJN Onnoghen Says

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari last Friday, has debunked the rumour gaining traction online on Monday that he has resigned.

Onnoghen, whom President Muhammadu Buhari replaced with the next most senior Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Tanko Mohammed, as Acting CJN, debunked the rumour in a statement on Monday.

The statement was signed by his media aide, Awassam Bassey, who described the CJN’s rumoured resignation as “fake news circulated by mischief makers.”


“Mischief makers are still circulating this fake news. Once again, no truth in it whatsoever. The Hon CJN, Hon Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON, has not resigned,” Bassey said.

The rumour came less than 24 hours to the emergency meeting summoned by the National Judicial Council to deliberate on Onnoghen’s suspension and Muhammad’s emergence as the Acting CJN.

The Buhari administration has since Friday, come under scathing and widespread criticism locally and from the international community for being ill-timed, coming in the eve of the imminent general elections.

LASUTH Resident Doctors Embark On Warning Strike

Resident doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, on Monday embarked on a three-day warning strike, following the failure of the state government to recruit more house officers and resident doctors.

The President, Association of Resident Doctors, LASUTH, Dr. Balogun Fatai, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Monday that the strike was total, involving both emergency and clinical operations in the hospital.

He said that in spite of the agitations of the association and its meetings with the government and management officials, there were no signs that new resident doctors would be engaged in the hospital.


“Although, some House Officers are reporting for work, they are not enough to call off the strike because the resident doctors that form the hub of the work force of the hospital have yet to resume duty.

“We are made to know that the governor has not yet given the approval as expected; that is what is stalling the recruitment of new doctors in the hospital.

“That is why we are embarking on a three-day warning strike, which is total; no member of the association will attend to patients during the strike,’’ he said.

Balogun, however, noted that consultants were on ground to see their patients, adding that the specialists would do their best to deliver health care to the patients.

He, nonetheless, stressed that the consultants would still need the services of the resident doctors because resident doctors interact with patients directly as the patients’ first point of call.

“If these residents are not on ground, it is obvious that work cannot go on smoothly at the teaching hospital.

“We are expecting 172 doctors, at the minimum, to start work; that will cushion the effect of what is going on now at the hospital.

“Essentially, the strike is to pass the message across to the government, so that it feels our pains and gives the needed approval as soon as possible,’’ he said.

The Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, told NAN that he had done everything that needed to be done to deploy the available resident doctors.

“I am not the one in charge of employing doctors, but have done everything I needed to do to deploy them, “ he said.

Senate President and national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Bukola Saraki, yesterday in Offa, Ilorin Kwara State, said  the Federal Government would have silenced him if he had skeleton in his cupboard.

He spoke at a reception by residents of Offa, where he led members of his party to a campaign rally in the local government.

Saraki said, “I had earlier told my people that they can’t do the Offa campaign in my absence. They may do those of others but not this one. Offa and Ilorin have a long history of relationship. Once the two would agree on anything it is taken. I see myself as a son of Offa. “Our campaign has a definite plan for Kwara State and Nigeria.


Since we joined the PDP the party has honored Kwara State, they gave us DG of Campaign, National Leader of the party and have agreed that if the party wins, Senate President is our slot in Kwara. But what has the other party to offer? If I have skeleton in my cupboard this government would have silenced me and forced me to drop the campaign.

“But for God and the support of the people I would not be standing today. They did not want to honor our agreement. We all laboured and what they could not get in three times they got it and we demanded that they give to Kwara what we deserve. We need to teach our seasonal politicians a lesson on the poll date.”

Bollywood Star Slammed For Calling Alex Iwobi A Gorilla

Arsenal fan and Bollywood star Esha Gupta has been slammed online after sharing racist remarks aimed at Alex Iwobi on Instagram, describing the Nigerian as a 'gorilla'.

The Indian actress is a well-known Arsenal fan and has been spotted at the Emirates Stadium watching games in the past. She was also reported to have previously been dating Hector Bellerin and helped the club launch a kit in 2017.

However, after the Gunners' FA Cup defeat by Manchester United on Friday night, the 33-year-old posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation between herself and another person on Instagram. She has 3.4million followers on Instagram and 412,000 on Twitter. 


The image showed messages exchanged between herself and Varun_Gupta17, with one of the messages reading: 'Solves our winger issues. I can't see that gorilla faced Iwobi running down the flank again. He's so bad ya.'

She replied: 'Hahahahahaha I honestly dunno why they don't bench him more.'

Varun_Gupta17 added: 'It's like evolution stopped for him. Didn't change from Neanderthal to man.'

Gupta quickly deleted the screenshot from her Instagram account but eagle-eyed fans had quickly managed to screenshot before it was taken off the site.

After coming under fire on social media for the post she issued an apology and insisted there was no racial intention behind it.

Gupta wrote: 'Guys I'm sorry you thought it was racist. Was bad on my part, being a sports lover. Wallah never meant it. Sorry guys forgive the stupidity.

'Well it was my fault. So gotta own up to my s***... sorry. It was us discussing our frustration during the game. Sorry as I didn't realise it was directed towards racism.

'Laughed over spur of the moment, which was the games result guys. Been victim of racism myself before. But this is not something I'm proud of. It was a fault, sorry guys.'
Fans were quick to condemn Gupta on social media as she received major backlash for her post.

@Keiron85 tweeted her: 'Your response is embarrassing! You state on one hand you've suffered racism yet on the other have no idea that you've made a racial slur!

'Your ignorance and arrogance of this whole situation is beyond words! Please remove gooner from your profile! Your [sic] not part of our club/family'.

Meanwhile, @FootballDadUK added: 'Do us all a favour and never step foot at Arsenal and take the word gooner out your bio as you definitely ain't [sic] one of us.'

An Arsenal spokesman said: 'This person is not an official club ambassador and we totally condemn racist language of this nature which has no place in our game or society. As a club we work hard to break down barriers and ensure everyone feels part of the Arsenal family.'

I Will Personally Handle Presidential Election Results Collation- Yakubu

As part of it efforts to ensure transparency and build confidence in the February 16 presidential election, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has vowed to solely man the result collation centre, stressing that he will not share his constitutional responsibility as the chairman of the collation secretariat with anybody.

The INEC boss was also said to have raised the alarm over what he described as the increasing violence tendencies by politicians and youths who could be used by politicians to carry out nefarious activities, saying that the elections might be disrupted if the security agencies refuse or fail to carry out their jobs, in line with INEC’s specifications.

This is coming as the electoral body has also decided to allow members of the accredited civil society groups, local/international election observers and the media access to its Situation Room.


The Situation Room is a centre where all results from all states for the presidential election are counted and collated before they are finally announced.

The room is unique to INEC; it is its internal control mechanism and the core activity of the commission, which is not usually open to outsiders.

Thisday also gathered from a senior INEC’s official that Yakubu, has vowed not to share his constitutional responsibility as the chairman of the results collation secretariat with anybody.

“We have decided to open up the Situation Room for members of the civil society groups, party’s members, local/international election observers and the media. But they would have to be accredited. The greatest thing for us is that the process is opened,” the senior INEC officer stated.

Woman Sneezes Out Ring She Lost 12 Years Ago

A beautician has been reunited with the ring she lost 12 years ago after sneezing the item of jewellery out into a tissue.

Abigail Thompson, 20, a beauty therapist from West Yorkshire, discovered the gold ring glistening in her snot after experiencing a sneezing fit.

Ms Thompson lost the ring, which was a present from her mother, in 2007 shortly after her eighth birthday and had long held the belief that it had been stolen by one of her friends. 

She said: 'My mum had bought it for me as a present that year and it was a few months after that I noticed it had gone missing.


'I never ever in a million years would have guessed it had got stuck up my nose.

'I always had a few friends over, we always would sit on my bed and she thought one of them must have just taken it when they were over at my house.

'Mum thought one of them must have stolen it.
'There was no other explanation as to where it could have gone.'

Ms Thompson expressed the shock she felt when the gold ring finally came flying out of her nose during a particularly strong sneezing fit.

She said: 'Well it was just a normal day, I was sat on my sofa and I started sneezing loads and then I looked in the tissue and I was like 'What the hell is that?'

'I felt a sharp feeling but I didn't think of it until I looked in the tissue.

'Then I looked at it and I went: 'Oh My God, that's the ring!'

According to Ms Thompson, she had not felt the ring as it lay inside her nose for all these years.

She joked: 'I never had a clue that it was up there. I never felt it.

'I had no problems with breathing growing up, nothing has changed since it has come out either.

Dr Naveen Cavale, the Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Real Plastic Surgery, explained that incidents like such as Ms Thompson's are quite common.

He said: 'It doesn't surprise me, it is an unusual story, but kids have beads and toys stuck up their nose all the time.

'It is possible that it was just wedged in and as she has grown up, the space in which it was wedged in would have got bigger and it was able to riggle loose and come out.

'It has probably being wedged at the back of the nose between two hard boney bits and they kept it in place.'

'You don't often feel these things stuck at the back as a lot of the parts of the nose to the back, don't have sensation.

CCT Adjourns Trial Of Suspended CJN Indefinitely

The Code of Court Tribunal on Monday adjourned the trial of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, indefinitely, pending the determination of suit challenging the trial at the Court of Appeal.

The CCT chairman, Danladi Umar, made the announcement after both parties agreed to adjourn the matter.

“In view of the Court of Appeal (order) to stay proceeding, I hereby adjourn the matter sine die pending the termination of the Court of Appeal,” he said.

Mr Onnoghen is accused of not fully declaring his asset after becoming the chief justice.

88 Doctors Quit Kogi Civil Service – NMA

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has called on Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi to reverse the ‘current internal drift’ of doctors and other healthcare workers in the state.

The association made the appeal in a statement issued to reporters in Lokoja on Monday by the state NMA Chairman, Kabiru Zubair.

This followed the exit of 88 medical doctors from the state public service.

The association however felicitated with the governor on the celebration of his third year anniversary in office and for making healthcare one of his five thematic areas.


According to Mr Zubair, “Under this administration, a total of 88 doctors have left the Kogi Civil Service; previously, 79 doctors left plus another nine who had succeeded in securing new employment recently.

“Doctors and other healthcare workers remain the drivers of healthcare delivery anywhere in the world.

“Steps such as the payment of outstanding salary arrears of doctors and other healthcare workers, implementation of the corrected CONMESS, promotion and annual step increment, among others, are needed to reverse this unfortunate trend.

“As you commence your fourth year in office, the NMA as the custodian of the health of the people is ready and willing to partner with state government to improve the health sector in Kogi.’’

Police Seal Off Onnoghen’s Office

The police have sealed off the office of Walter Onnoghen, suspended chief justice of Nigeria (CJN). The police stormed the office located at the supreme court premises this morning.

On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari swore in Tanko Mohammed as the new CJN, pending the determination of the case against Onnoghen at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Onnoghen was suspended on the eve of swearing in members of the 2019 national assembly, governorship and state assembly election petition tribunals which Mohammed did on Saturday.

Exam Failure: My Story... JUST FOR LAFFS

Lol, God bear me witness this is just for laffs. I read Reno's post and mehn i have been laughing so hard. This story i remember so well and well.. it's still happening. So i remember in my university days, well i got into media in my second year in school before i started blogging in my final year. So yea, i wasn't the book type. I love to dress up, come to class, listen, but don't stress me with your vocabularies, theories... no, i get tired.

But when i got to my 3rd year, i knew i wasn't going to need my degree (LOL)... I just knew it. But i said i will push on, incase I might want to get into a public office in future.

I was tired of seeing people in class frowning and reading and reading.  Who died now? Then, there's this set of us, who will immediately leave class once the lecturer is out, and ask someone in class to ring us when another one comes in. We would hang out at a restaurant, gist and talk about life (yea it takes the stress off us, lol). Most times, we might not even return to class, because no lecturer will come again.


Anyway, we became the 'bad set', the unserious students, LOL. But we still didn't care. Our mates will look at us, eye us and say, you guys don't know why you are here. Duh! Who still cares, lol!

Again, fashion meant alot to us. It's 'baffing' up before book. Anyway, long story short, we always managed to pass our exams, we always do.

Now in my finaly year, i knew i had to be serious, so i was. And there's this girl who is the MOST BRILLIANT. Everyone knows, one way or the other, she became my friend. I would buy her food (LOL)  still buy drinks and bring to class for her. So during exams, we mostly sit together.

Note; everyone wants to sit with this girl, so it was always war. Sometimes i will tell her, i have this new slippers i can give her o, LOL, She gets excited and says Dunni, don't worry, you will be the one to seat next to me, lol.

Then exam comes. AFter answering the ones i can, i am like Girrrrrrrrrrllll i'm done, let me see, LOL and she would let me. But then, sometimes, she would just  change and tell all of us, see i won't teach anyone this particular course today because i want to have a unique score, i don't want anyone close to my score. LOL. So she will cover her answer sheet all through. LOL. This sometimes make me angry, and sometimes i just tell her waka... Make we finish exam o, i wan go blog LOL... That one is my own exam LOL.
So, sometimes, she is good, sometimes she is not. Alas, today, the story is not the same. Sadly, she has never been gainfully employed. It's dropping her CV from one organisation to another till she got fed up. This happened to most people in her 'group' (the efficos) and today she is managing one shop somewhere.

The last time we spoke, she told me how life has been hard and when i asked about her other group members, it's one sorry story or the other.

Indeed, if a child is not brilliant in school, leave her o He/she might have interest in other things, let them explore! It;s the way I will be raising my children, you will read o, but have any other interest? Let's go there, lol. Thank you Uncle Reno jare, you made some of us feel good today. I know 90percent of you are like me, dont even dare pretend LOOOOOOOOOL.
