Woman Stops To Help Street Beggar, But She Gets R-ped By Him Instead

A woman was raped by a street beggar after stopping to try and help him.

James Campbell, 31, admitted the attack which took place in Glasgow on August 16 last year.

Campbell, who lived with his mother in Paisley, Renfrewshire, was begging in the city when his victim stopped to check on him.

She had noticed he was not wearing a top although it was cold and raining.

The woman, 57, asked him if he was alright and chatted to him for about 10 minutes. Campbell then followed her and refused to go away.

As the woman walked past a lane, Campbell demanded a kiss before restraining and raping her.

Prosecutor Angela Gray said: "He told the woman. 'I love you. I want you to be my girlfriend,' and she replied: 'Don't be daft. I don't even know you.'"

The court heard the woman struggled with Campbell and repeatedly told him: "Please don't," and "There is no need for this."

Miss Gray added: "She repeatedly told him to stop and that he was hurting her. He did not stop and told her to shut up.

"A solicitor working in an office overlooking the lane saw the incident taking place and phoned the police."

Officers arrived to find Campbell raping the woman and dragged him off her.

The woman was visibly shaken and upset.

Campbell told police: "She wanted rough s-x so I gave it to her."

The brutal r-pe was captured on CCTV and was described by Miss Gray as 'graphic'.

She added: "It includes images of the woman and the accused in a state of partial undress."

Judge Lady Stacey placed Campbell, who has been in custody since August, last year, on the s-x offenders' register.

Lady Stacey told Campbell, who has previous convictions: "In light of the seriousness of the crime and your fairly extensive previous convictions I will see if an extended sentence is required."

Sentenced was deferred on Campbell until March 1 to obtain background reports.

Solicitor advocate Alastair Gray will give his plea in mitigation then.

Ugandan DJ Killed For Playing ‘Boring Music’

A disc jockey has been killed by revellers for playing boring music.

Jerry Okirwoth, a part time DJ and student at Parombo Secondary School in Uganda was murdered by the mob for failing to play their favourite songs.

Okirwoth was killed on Wednesday in a disco hall in Nebbi District, Northern Uganda.

Nebbi Resident District Commissioner William Bob Labeja blamed the establishment’s management for failing to protect the budding DJ from the irate crowd.

"As the head of security in the district, I will no longer allow any disco operators to conduct their businesses in the sub-county and anybody who defies the directive will be prosecuted.

“All disco halls in all sub counties must be closed because they are causing insecurity and redundancy among the youth,” he told the press.

However, this is not an isolated case.

In 2014, three Zimbabwean men were charged with murder after assaulting a DJ on Independence Day for playing ‘boring music’.

Elson Samuel Tirivavi, 22, suffered severe head injuries after he was hit with a chair and a bottle in the ensuing fight.

Diamond Earrings Worn By The Meghan Markle In Fiji Is Said To Be Worth £500k

The Duchess of Sussex stunned onlookers with her appearance during a black tie reception hosted by the president of Fiji, Jioji Konrote, last October.

And the dazzling yellow diamond earrings Meghan Markle, 37, wore for the lavish occasion, along with a £1,095 dress by designer designer SAFiYAA, have now been revealed as being by celebrity designer Butani.

An expert told FEMAIL that the generously sized multi-tier earrings, which at the time Kensington Palace confirmed the pregnant duchess had borrowed, could be worth up to £500,000.

An array of celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, Kate Beckinsale, Rihanna, Christina Hendricks even Michelle Obama have also been spotted wearing the Hong Kong-based brand.

Members of the royal family attending official engagements are not usually seen wearing jewellery borrowed from designers.

Speaking about the opulent earrings,  Deborah Papas, gemologist at Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4’s Posh Pawn, said: 'The Duchess of Sussex never ceases to amaze us with the beautiful jewellery she wears.

'In Fiji she chose to wear an absolutely stand-out pair of chandelier style diamond drop earrings in three strands set with white and yellow coloured diamonds.

'Most are round but some are pear shaped to give the stepped drop effect and all set in white gold.

'These drops appear very heavy, almost pulling down the lobe, but sparkle beautifully even with the slightest turn of the head and are truly stunning. They could easily be worth £500,000 or more.'

Man Beats Wife To Death Over Alleged Infidelity

The police in Niger State have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly beating his wife to death with a piece of wood.

The suspect, Jibrin Abu, was apprehended by police operatives attached to the Lapai Division in the Lapai Local Government Area of the state.

Abu, who hails from Dabogi village in Lapai, was said to have killed his wife, Victoria Aliyu, over allegation of infidelity.

It was learnt that the suspect used a heavy wood to send his wife to her early grave after several warnings.

Northern City News gathered that the suspect had earlier warned his late wife to stop taking calls from her male friends, but she reportedly ignored his warning.

Abu, who narrated to Punch correspondent what led to the killing of Victoria, said on Tuesday, “I used a wood to kill her after several warnings for her to desist from taking calls from men in my house.

“I have been suspecting that my wife was sleeping around with other men in my village but in the heat of argument, I killed her.”

The suspect also described his late wife as “a disgrace to womanhood,” noting that she had dragged his name in the mud.

“My late wife brought men into our matrimonial home and my culture abhors such an act; that was why I killed her to save the family from the shame,” he added.

The Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident, noting that the suspect had confessed to the crime.

Abubakar said Abu, after killing his wife, attempted to commit suicide by drinking Sniper insecticide,  but he was rushed to the Lapai General Hospital by police operatives and was treated.

He added that the suspect would be charged to court soon.

Naomi Campbell & Liam Payne Seen On 'Secret Date' At Davido's Concert After Insta Flirting [ Video]

Naomi Campbell and Liam Payne have fuelled speculation they are dating after they were spotted attending a concert together on Sunday.

The supermodel, 48, and pop star, 25, were caught on video leaving the VIP area at London's O2 Arena following a concert by Nigerian singer Davido.

The Streatham-born beauty looked casual in double denim and a large jacket as she walked ahead with the One Direction singer, wearing a checked jacket, following close behind.

A source told the Daily Star Online : "Liam and Naomi were keen to keep a low profile. They entered and exited the arena via the back door and were quickly whisked up to a VIP suite on Level 3.

"Naomi was more than happy to pose for official pictures inside the venue but didn't have a single one with Liam.

"After the show they left together in the back of a blacked-out green Range Rover and Liam was seen putting his arm around Naomi's waist."

Their apparent date comes after the pair have been flirting on their respective Instagram accounts in recent weeks.

After father-of-one Liam shared a sultry shirtless photo on his page on January 15, Naomi commented: "Beautiful soul," to which Liam responded: "Takes one to know one."

The singer couldn't resist commenting on Naomi's selfie before the Louis Vuitton show in Paris on January 18, writing: "Perfection in a person… don’t give me those eyes."

Liam and Naomi spent New Year's Eve together in Ghanian capital Accra along with her mother Valerie, Vogue Editor Edward Enninful and Sir David Adjaye. In recent weeks, fans have been wondering if Liam and Naomi will becoming the next big celebrity couple, despite having a 23 year age gap.

Family Cries Out As Police Release Suspects Who Allegedly Killed A Single Mother

The family of Ehianu Ugbom of the Umu-Osi Quarters, Ekwuoma in the Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, has petitioned the state police command over the release of the suspects, who allegedly strangled the mother of a six-month-old baby, Helen Ehianu.

The father of the deceased, Mr Augustine Ehianu, has urged the police to re-arrest the suspects and make them face prosecution.

Twenty-eight-year-old Helen was reportedly strangled and
her corpse dumped in a pit in the Obior community, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state, after she had been declared missing on March 22, 2018.

The corpse was found in the pit on March 24, 2018, by police operatives.

The elder brother of the deceased, Samuel Ehianu, alleged that the victim’s friend, Precious Mmaduneme, had a hand in her death.

The deceased and Mmaduneme had allegedly left her family compound in Ekwuoma for Ogwashi-Uku on March 22, 2018, for the treatment of her epilepsy before she met her untimely death.

Mmaduneme was alleged to have connived with Precious Nwali and Chikodi Emuka to commit the crime.

Helen’s suspected killers, who were alleged to be child traffickers, reportedly absconded with her six-month-old baby, who was later recovered after the suspects were arrested by operatives of the state police command.

But the family, in the petition signed by P. E. Okwuokei-Ajabor of P. E. Ajabor & Co (Legal and Property Consultants), appealed to the police to urgently re-arrest the suspects in the interest of justice.

The petition stated, “Our client’s daughter, Helen, was killed and her corpse concealed and recovered from a covered septic tank in a residential house at Obior, where one of the suspects, Precious Nwali, resides.

“To our client’s bewilderment, the suspects were brought to a magistrates’ court and charged with child stealing, while the heinous crime is the murder of our client’s daughter, which the suspects are not charged for.

“Sir, the murderers of our client’s daughter are left on the streets free as air and only God knows how many people have died in their hands. Our client will be very grateful to you sir if the murderers of his daughter are brought to justice, and this must not only be done, but should be seen to have been done.”

Speaking with The Punch, Helen’s father, Augustine, lamented that the suspected killers of his daughter were walking free without diligent prosecution by the state police command.

The septuagenarian lamented that he had made several efforts to ensure that the police revisited the case but to no avail.

He stated, “The police took the case to court without telling me even though I used to visit the station from time to time. From the court, the suspects were released, while my daughter’s corpse is still in the mortuary. The suspects are now moving about freely. These include all who were involved in child trafficking, that is, those who they sold the baby to.

“When I wrote to let the CP know the situation of things, he did not acknowledge it. After some time, on January 18, 2019, I went with my lawyer to remind the police, but they failed to acknowledge our presence. A murder case was charged to a customary court, and from the customary court, the suspected murderers were released; is that proper? I am appealing for justice in this case.”

He also called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene in the gruesome murder of his daughter in order to deter other persons involved in such nefarious activities in the state.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, pleaded for time to enable him investigate why the suspects were released.

Buhari Can't Dump Okorocha For Oshiomhole? Tells Imo People To "Vote Your Choice"

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday openly urged the people of Imo State to vote for candidates of their choice in the coming election in the state.

He countered the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who had earlier asked the APC members to vote for the party’s governorship candidate, Hope Uzodinma.

Buhari said, “You can vote for whosoever you want. Do not allow intra or inter-party affairs stop you from voting for the candidates of your choice."

Buhari spoke at the All Progressives Congress’ presidential campaign rally held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, the state capital.

Oshiomhole had earlier boasted that the APC did not need the support of the Action Alliance (AA) to deliver votes for Buhari in the state.

“Let me make it clear that the APC is not in alliance with any party. We have the power to deliver the President.

“You should vote for Uzodinma as our governorship candidate. Don’t be deceived by anybody. The APC will win in Imo State,” he said.

At another rally held in Aba, Abia State, earlier in the day, Buhari said he had tried his best to fulfill his promise to revamp the nation’s economy with the resources available to his government despite the sharp drop in oil price.

He urged his critics to judge his government based on current economic realities.

He insisted that his administration had been able to deliver on its three core campaign promises which included improving the economy, tackling insecurity and fighting corruption.

He said, “We have tried our best to justify our promise to improve our economy with the resources available to us despite the fluctuations in the price of crude oil within the time we held sway.

“We are fixing road infrastructure, the railway and the power sector and I assure you that if we can get the infrastructure correct -the roads, railway and power-our economy would stabilise.”

Shock As Electrician Kill Customer In Lagos, Hide Corpse Under Bed

A police sergeant, Yusuf Olatunji, on Monday, explained to a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja how a 26-year-old electrician, Lawrence Ikonne, allegedly murdered his customer, Isa Yaya, and hid the corpse under his bed.

Olatunji, who investigated the crime, told the court that
Ikonne murdered the deceased by hitting him on the head with a plank, tied his body with a generator cable, covered it with a piece of nylon and ran away.

According to Olatunji, the suspect committed the offence on October 10, 2014, at his residence, No. 16 Afro Close, Afromedia Estate, Okokomiako, Lagos.

Ikonne is facing one count of manslaughter.

At Monday’s proceedings, Olatunji while being led in evidence by the state prosecutor, Monisola Osibogun, told the court that the reason behind the murder was unknown, adding that Ikonne claimed that he killed the deceased when they engaged each other in a fight.

He said, “A complainant, Efeze Omenaka, reported a case of murder around 7pm on October 10, 2014. Omenaka, who is also a caretaker, told us that he returned from the Alaba Market on that day and noticed a reddish liquid substance dripping from the defendant’s room.

“He immediately alerted other neighbours and they all went in search of the defendant but couldn’t find him. The caretaker thereafter called the suspect’s brother, Clement, who was living with him, but was at work at the time.

“When Clement opened the door, the corpse of the deceased was found under the bed, tied up and covered with a piece of nylon.

“I was sent to visit the crime scene, two wings of duplexes demarcated by a fence. The complainant and the suspect were living in the same building but in different apartments.

“Photographs of the deceased were also taken and the corpse was later moved to the mortuary and the suspect’s brother was taken to the station, where he volunteered a statement. But being a murder case, the matter was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti.

“However, the suspect was apprehended a week after the incident at a hotel, where he was hiding.”

Ikonne had stated in his statement to the police that he killed the deceased, when he (Ikonne) invited him to his house to buy an air conditioner and a fight broke out between them.

He had stated, “The deceased came to my house to buy an air conditioner. He helped me to carry the air conditioner from my room to the open in order to inspect it. After inspecting it, we agreed on N5,000 as the sale price. But he later changed his mind and said he wasn’t buying anymore. I felt angry and he also demanded that I should pay him for his services.

“We started arguing and a fight broke out. I then hit him on the head with a plank and he fainted. Out of anxiety, I tied his legs with a cable when I noticed that blood was oozing from his nose. I then found nylon to cover his body and hid his corpse inside my room.”

The presiding judge, Justice Adenike Coker, adjourned the matter till March 19, 2019, for the continuation of trial.

What NJC Will Do To Justices Onnoghen and Tanko

As we reported earlier, the National Judicial Council has given the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, and the acting CJN, Tanko Muhammad, seven working days to respond to petitions against them.

What is the way out for both Onnoghen and Tanko?

The council gave the ultimatum at its emergency meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday. The two men did not attend the meeting.

A former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Umar Abdullahi, presided over the meeting as the interim chairman.

President Muhammadu Buhari had suspended Onnoghen on Friday based on an ex parte order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, which ordered him to step aside.

The President swore in Tanko in his place in an acting capacity.

The NJC also referred a petition against the CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar, to the Federal Judicial Service Commission.

According to a press release by the NJC’s Director (Information), Soji Oye, the council took the decisions after considering four petitions filed at its secretariat.

The statement explained that the petition against Onnoghen was by Zikhrillahi Ibrahim of the Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civil Education while two petitions against Tanko came from Centre for Justice and Peace Initiative, and Olisa Agbakoba (SAN).

It added that the petition against Umar was authored by the Centre for Justice and Peace Initiative.

The statement added, “Council referred the petition against Honurable Danladi Yakubu Umar to the Federal Judicial Service Commission, which is the appropriate constitutional body empowered to deal with it.

“In line with its procedure, council also forwarded the petitions against Honourable Justices W.S.N. Onnoghen, (GCON) and I. T. Muhammad (CFR), to them for their responses.

“In view of the gravity of the matters involved, council abridged the usual response period from fourteen (14) to seven (7) working days for the honurable Justices to respond.”

Sources say the NJC will be taking a strong decision on both men in the next two weeks, as they allowed themselves to play into the hands of politicians in the executive.

Lady Mistakenly Kills Her Baby After Getting Drunk... Her Husband Insists She Should Be Jailed

Serious matter. A lady allegedly killed her daughter by mistake after getting drunk.

Looks like she has been acting irresponsibly for a while now. Her husband said he will file for divorce and insist she should be jailed for killing their only child because of her recklessness and unacceptable behaviour.

The woman identified as Mrs. Mirriam Kalonda of Lusaka in Olympia, Zambia – mistakenly killed their only daughter believed to be just three weeks old.

According to The Zambian Observer, Mirriam had a lot of drinks on a Saturday night with her friends who came to visit her home. It is believed she slept over her daughter as she was very drunk and woke up in the morning with a dead baby girl’s body.

The husband came back from work in the morning as he was working night shift, only to be greeted with the sad news.

Mr Richard Kalonda further said he stopped her from taking alcohol but she couldn’t listen and this is the disappointment she could offer to him and the family-at-large.

Meanwhile, Mirriam is said to be currently under observation as she also attempted to kill herself after what had happened.

CJN Onnoghen Takes First Major Action After His Suspension

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, has dragged the Federal Government headed by President Buhari before the Court of Appeal, challenging his suspension.

The appeal was filed on Monday by his lawyers: Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), Kanu Agabi (SAN) and James Onoja.

Onnoghen, who was suspended by President Buhari following an ex parte order issued by the Code of Conduct Tribunal last week, questioned the powers of the CCT to do so.

The suspended CJN based his appeal on four grounds, adding that he was not given a fair hearing by the CCT before the order to swear-in Justice Tanko Muhammad was given.

The appeal read in part, “The chairman and a member of the Code of Conduct Tribunal erred in law and violated the right of the appellant (Onnoghen) to a fair hearing when they made the order ex parte that he (Onnoghen) shall step aside as CJN and Chairman of the National Judicial Council over allegations of contravening provisions of the Code of Conduct and Tribunal Act Cap C15 Laws of the Federation 2004 pending the determination of the motion on notice dated January 10, 2019.”
