You might own a beard, or you might have strong opinions on how attractive people with beards are, but science has made some recent discoveries that suggest having a beard is good for you in more ways than one.

In 2018 the Journal of Evolutionary Biology asked a group of women to rate men. Each dude was photographed clean shaven, with five days growth, ten days worth of facial hair and then four weeks of beard.

According to the study all the women preferred men with facial hair.


Beards, the study said, may be more attractive to women who are considering long-term relationships. Something about competing socially for resources, the paper suggested.

But then it gets even better for the beard owner, because it turns out that a nice bushy crumb catcher also offers protection from the sun's damaging UV rays. According to recent research a good beard offers an equivalent of UPF 21.

That means it blocks out around 90-95 per cent of UV radiation.

That doesn't mean you can ditch the sunscreen, but having a beard offers some real protection against the sun's harmful rays. Keeping your skin healthy and protected from the sun is one of the largest factors in looking young.

That could mean the bearded man - or those using sunscreen every day - would have fewer wrinkles and blemishes like liver spots.

Apparently the same is true of men with good head hair, offering good scalp protection from potential UV damage, like skin cancers.

So while some will no doubt claim that men with beards are lazy those men will at least be able to pretend it's for health reasons.

Two Men Shot 'Full S*x' Porn Film On Tube Train In Front Of Horrified Passengers

Two men who shot a porn film as they travelled just three stops on the Tube have been let off with a fine.

Porn star George Mason, 35, and escort Nicholas Mullan, 24, romped between Leicester Square and London Waterloo late at night in July 2017 and were filmed by a third unknown man as horrified passengers looked on.

The normal journey would have taken them less than five minutes but the managed to engage in anal and oral s-x and masturbation on the Northern Line trip.


Mason later posted the film on Twitter and boasted: "It is outrageously horny we could not stop ourselves."

Magistrate Lucinda Lubbock was shown stills of the s-x acts and said: "This was a very unpleasant and serious offence on the public underground.
"Although it took place back in July the seriousness of the offence is exacerbated by the fact it went on social media.

Turning to Mason, Ms Lubbock added: "We feel that your role in this incident and the subsequent uploading was more serious and more of a senior role."

Giving the pair community orders she remarked: "This is a lesson to both of you. You have been humiliated in the court of social media."

Comedian Jeremy Hardy Dies Of Cancer At 57

Comedian Jeremy Hardy has died aged 57 after battling cancer. The Blackadder Goes Forth and Mock the Week star died earlier today, his rep Amanda Emery confirmed.

In a statement, Ms Emery said the active socialist and author passed away with his daughter Elizabeth Hardy - who he adopted whilst married to Kit Hollerbach - and his film-maker wife, Katie Barlow, by his side.

"Friends and family of comedian Jeremy Hardy are immensely sad to announce that Jeremy died of cancer, early on Friday 1st February," Emery said.

"He was with his wife and daughter as he died.

Nine-Year-Old Girl Drowns In Jigawa Well

A nine-year-old girl identified as Hassana Aliyu of Kasarau Yamma quarters in Dutse, Jigawa, has lost her life after falling into a well.

Alhaji Ahmed Danyaro, the Director, Jigawa State Fire Directorate, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Friday that the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

 Danyaro said: “Nobody can ascertain how the deceased fell into the well as we just received a distress call that she had fallen into the well in their home.

“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team which rescued her unconscious and later confirmed dead at hospital.” He said that the deceased’s corpse had since been handed over to her parents for burial.


 The director advised parents who have wells in their homes to raise the heights and provide covers for the wells to protect their children and wards. According to him, the agency will continue to sensitise the public on how best to use wells at homes.

Teen Couple Caned As Crowd Cheers After They're Caught CUDDLING In Indonesia [Photos]

Two teenagers were whipped in front of a jeering audience after they were caught cuddling - a crime in parts of Indonesia.

The audience gathered at the public square in Banda Aceh in Indonesia , recording the punishment on their phones.

The sweethearts were found guilty of a "moral crime" - which usually results in up to 29 lashes, say reports.

Public cuddling is a crime under the extreme conservative laws in Aceh, based on a strict regional interpretation of sharia.

The girl, 18, who was dressed in a white hijab, closed her eyes as she waited for the bamboo cane to strike.

Her boyfriend was then brought up to the stage by police , also dressed in white, to receive his whipping.

She kept her head down throughout the entire ordeal and was allowed to kneel as the masked man hit her repeatidly.

He was seen raising the stick high and smacking her with it, in the same motion a golf player would his club.
The girl could be seen weeping under her hooded hijab - the pain becoming too much.

He was seen wincing in pain as the cane slapped his skin

As well as cuddling in public, Sharia courts also consider lesbian, gay and bisexual relationships a crime.

Anybody caught having consensual gay sex is punished with 100 lashes, 100 months in jail or a fine of 1,000 grams of gold.

Non-married couples are banned from sitting together at the same table in restaurants, cafes or coffee shops in the religious crackdown.

FG, INEC Plotting To Shut Internet During Elections

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said the Federal Government, through the Office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, had directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to work with internet service providers to shutdown internet access during the elections.

Wike said shutting down internet access by NSA and INEC was aimed at facilitating rigging. He spoke, yesterday, during a courtesy visit by Savannah Centre Council on Peaceful and Violence Free in Nigeria at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

He said: “NSA has met with INEC to ensure that internet service provider’s shutdown the internet, so that foreign bodies won’t see what’s happening in the country during the elections.


“They will jam all the frequencies and internet services to stop real time communication during the elections. This plot to rig the forthcoming election is a recipe for violence.

They will not succeed in whatever they are planning. The world will be informed about their criminal activities.” The governor said the negative actions of the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration indicate that they will not accept defeat when they lose the forthcoming election.

Herdsmen Ambush Police Rescue Team, Kill ASP

Suspected herdsmen, have shot dead, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, at Umuachi-Afor community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State.

It was learned that the police officer, who, until his death, was attached to the Ashaka police divisional headquarters, had led a team of police officers in search of the herdsmen who had been terrorizing the area with kidnapping activities when he met with his untimely death on Thursday.

Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, while confirming the incident, said: “We had a situation where someone was abducted and that took our men into the bush in search of the hoodlums.


“On their way, they were ambushed by the armed herdsmen who, in fact, opened fire on the police rescue team. In the process, the ASP was hit by bullets. Aniamaka, however, refused to disclose the identity of the deceased police officer, saying “His family is not yet aware of the development.” He said the officer died in the hospital where he was rushed to for treatment.

World's 'Oldest' Woman Dies At 129

A woman believed to be the oldest person to have ever lived has died aged 129. Koku Istambulova, a survivor of Stalin’s repressions, would have turned 130 in June, according to accepted pension records in Russia.

She was older than a woman listed in the Russian Book of Records who died last month supposedly aged 128, officials believed.

Koku made headlines last year by saying she had never lived a single happy day in her long life.


Her grandson Iliyas Abubakarov said she had supper as usual on Sunday, January 27 at her village home in Chechnya.
“She was joking, she was talking,” he said.

“Then she suddenly felt unwell, she complained of a chest pain.

“We called the doctor, we were told that her blood pressure had dropped, and injections were made.

“But they failed to save her.

"She died in a quiet way, fully conscious, praying.”

She has been buried in her home village Bratskoe, survived by five grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Tell Lagosians Why Ambode Should Go, Agbaje Challenges Lawmakers

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos  State, Jimi Agbaje, has urged the Lagos State House of Assembly to reveal the motivation behind attempt to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

In a statement issued by Agbaje’s Directorate of Media and Publicity on Thursday, he alleged that the Lagos lawmakers were using the issue of delayed presentation of the 2019 budget as an excuse to carry out an ulterior motive.

He said, “Of course, the way Lagos politics has been structured over the last two decades, government actions are often dictated by open and covert objectives.

That the legislators are hinging their action on the purported delay of the budget is simply a smokescreen for a very shameful undertone that the honourable assembly members will not want to make open.
“They are yet to tell us their actual motivation for this superfluous move to shame the Governor.”

Agbaje also expressed reservations about the timing of the impeachment move.

He said, “I received the news of the impending impeachment of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode with a lot of reservation, especially with its timing and motive. This is just 19 or so days to the Federal elections and the governorship, a fortnight thereafter. So the natural questions to ask are: Why this haste? And what is the motive?”

He stated that although the legislature reserved the right to perform oversight functions, “such a responsibility should not be abused. It should be carried out in a manner that places the citizens’ interest above any pecuniary benefit to a vested interest.”

The PDP candidate added, “Governance has ground to a halt owing to the schism between the two arms of government, both of which are dominated by All Progressives Congress. From all indications and from the findings that I have conducted, the action of the lawmakers is nothing but self-serving as dictated to them by the cabal ruling the state.”

Glamorous Nutritionist, 27, Takes Her Own Life After Posting Heartbreaking Suicide Note

A successful young nutritionist committed suicide inside her Manhattan apartment after posting a devastating note on her personal website recounting her emotional struggles.

Tara Condell, 27, an NYU-educated dietitian at Top Balance Nutrition in Midtown Manhattan, was found dead at 4.30pm on Wednesday.

Police officers found her hanging from a strap in the bedroom of her West 10th Street apartment after colleagues requested a welfare check.

The co-workers became concerned for Condell's safety after she failed to show up for work, and then discovered a suicide note posted on her website.


A search of Condell's apartment yielded a second suicide note in the living room, the contents of which have not been disclosed by police, New York Post reported

In the letter posted to her site and titled 'I Hate The Word "Bye", But See You Later Maybe?' Condell attempted to explain her decision to end her life, listed some of the things she'll miss the most and begged forgiveness of her mother.

The achingly moving letter opens with a heart-breaking revelation that Condell had been contemplating suicide from the time she was a teenager.

'I have written this note several times in my head for over a decade, and this one finally feels right,' she wrote.

Jeopardy. Saying I love you. Late night junk food binges. Shooting the shit. And especially the no-destination-in-sight long walks.

No GoFundMes, no funeral, no tributes, no doing-too-much please. All I ask now is for you to have one delicious (I mean a really really great) meal in my honor and let me go, no exceptions.

It's selfishly time for me to be happy and I know you can get down with that.

Ronaldo's Girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez Loses Dad

The convicted drug trafficker father of Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend has reportedly died in his native Argentina after a long battle against illness.

The football star's partner Georgina Rodriguez posted a birthday photo on her Instagram earlier this week from Buenos Aires and wrote: 'Coincidences of life. I land in the country I was born in at the same time and the day of my birth 25 years ago.'

She gave no hint of the reason for her trip, thought to be her first to Argentina since her dad was kicked out of Spain in 2013 and banned from returning after doing ten years jail for two drugs trafficking offences.


Celeb Spanish magazine Hola reported on its website on Friday that the pretty brunette had flown to Buenos Aires following the death of Jorge Eduardo Rodriguez Gorjon at the age of 70.

He is said to have suffered from complications related to a stroke he had two-and-a-half years ago.

U.S. Imposes visa Restrictions On Ghana

The United States said on Thursday it was imposing visa restrictions on Ghana, accusing the African country of not cooperating in accepting its citizens ordered removed from the United States.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo “has ordered consular officers in Ghana to implement visa restrictions on certain categories of visa applicants,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement.

“Without an appropriate response from Ghana, the scope of these sanctions may be expanded to a wider population,” the statement said.


“Ghana has failed to live up to its obligations under international law to accept the return of its nationals ordered removed from the United States,” said DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said.

“We hope the Ghanaian government will work with us to reconcile these deficiencies quickly,” she said.
