Revealed:102 Nigerians Serving Jail Terms In Chad

The Embassy of Nigeria in Chad on Friday said no fewer than 102 Nigerians were in the country’s prisons, serving varying jail terms.

Charge d’Affaires in the embassy Mr Nasiru Waje disclosed this in N’djamena to some Nigerian journalists on a working visit to Chad.

He said that the inmates, some of whom had not been convicted, were in various prisons across the country.

Waje, however, stated that 39 of the prisoners had regained freedom following the intervention of the embassy. He said that the Nigerians were held for various offences, including smuggling and attempting to use routes in Chad to enter Europe.

2019: Wole Soyinka Endorses Moghalu For President

Citizen Forum, a group convened by Nobel Leaureate Wole Soyinka, has endorsed Kingsley Moghalu, presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), for President.

The group made the announcement in a statement personally signed by Soyinka.

According to Soyinka, the decision to endorse Moghalu was reached after "months of studying the careers, experiences and track records of most of the presidential aspirants, and most intensely those actually short-listed by the opposition parties themselves".

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said he is in government not to enrich himself, saying, he was already a billionaire before he became a governor.

Ortom, who spoke with journalists, was reacting to his estranged godfather, Senator George Akume’s allegation at the Buhari’s presidential campaign rally held at Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi on Wednesday.

Senator Akume had accused Ortom of using his office to enrich himself.

Akume had said, “Today, there is one governor in the North-Central Nigeria, (a veiled reference to Ortom) who is richer than Buhari and has more money than Buhari in just three-and-a-half years of being a governor.

Man Who Spent The Night With 12-Year-Old Girl Who Pretended To Be 19 Is Jailed

An office worker who lost his job and home after he spent the night with a 12-year-old schoolgirl who pretended to be 19 has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Carl Hodgson, 27, brought the girl to his Manchester quayside apartment after he met her on a dating app - not realising she used a fake profile which claimed she was 'experienced'.

He admitted to carrying out a s-x act on the girl and took an explicit image of her in a body stocking, writing: 'Mine was decent, nailed that bird, unreal bod.'

He was arrested a month later after the girl's mother found her daughter had logged onto his home WiFi and told police.


He said he did not know the girl's real age and that it was her who suggested they go back to his apartment.

The girl, who is known to regularly go missing from home, admitted posing as a 19-year-old and said Hogdson did not know her real age.

Hodgson admitted engaging in s-xual activity with a child, making and distributing indecent images and was ordered to sign the S-x Offenders Register for life.

He was banned from contacting girls under 16 without permission of their parents for seven years, and disqualified from living and sleeping in same household as child under 16. His not guilty plea for r-pe was accepted.

President Muhammadu Buhari and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenger Atiku Abubakar yesterday got more support from politicians and individuals interested in the 2019 presidential election.

President Buhari was adopted by the Social Democratic (SDP) and the Oby Ezekwesili-led civil society group, the Red Card Movement (RCM) pledged allegiance to Atiku.

The SDP adoption of Buhari took place in Abuja after the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting where a communique was issued and adopted by council members who were at the meeting.

The party’s NEC explained why it took the decision. But its National Chairman Chief Olu Falae was absent.

At a public declaration in Abuja yesterday, RCM’s co-Chairman, Dr. Tony Akabuno, said the decision to endorse Atiku was informed by the failure of the APC to fulfill its campaign promises to Nigerians.

“We have come today to tell the world and our members, that the state champions, the co-chair (Dr.Tony Akabuno) and other co-conveners have dissociated from Oby Ezekwesili and today declare support for the Atiku/ Obi ticket,” he said.

DSS Arrests INEC Staff Who're Stealing & Selling PVCs

Two employees of the Independent National Electoral Commission were, on Thursday, arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court by the Department of State Services for allegedly stealing over 3,097 Permanent Voter Cards belonging to eligible votes in Rivers State.

The suspects identified as Beesor Sorle, 39, and Monday Ifesimama, 52, were arraigned in Port Harcourt alongside one Darlington Ogolo, 42.

The three suspects were charged with conspiracy, stealing and selling of PVCs, bribery and attempt to register intending voters by proxy.

However, when the charges were read to them, the suspects pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, S.D. Andrew-Jaja, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each with sureties, who must be civil servants of not less than Level 12 in the Civil Service.

The sureties, according to the chief magistrate, should make available photocopies of their appointment letters. Andrew-Jaja later adjourned the matter till February 20, 2019.

Also arraigned by the DSS was one Philemon Lawrence (25), who allegedly paraded himself as an INEC official and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public after promising to give them jobs as ad hoc workers of the commission.

She writes: 'I must admire my son's temerity to want to take his parents to court knowing both of us are lawyers.

'If Raphael could come up with a rational explanation as to how we could have sought his consent to be born, I will accept my fault.

World's Richest Man Reveals 'Blackmail' Emails From Enquirer Threatening To Publish His N-ked Selfies To Lover

Jeff Bezos has published a shocking letter that was sent to him by a National Enquirer editor threatening to publish n-de photos of the Amazon billionaire if he did not back off claims that the decision to out the billionaire's affair with Lauren Sanchez was politically motivated.

In the email, American Media's Chief Content Officer Dylan Howard comments that 'with The Washington Post poised to publish unsubstantiated rumors of The National Enquirer’s initial report, I wanted to describe to you the photos obtained during our newsgathering.'

He then goes on to claim that the Enquirer has a 'd*** pic' sent by Bezos and a photo that shows Sanchez's 'nether region.'


After listing the images, Howard writes: 'It would give no editor pleasure to send this email. I hope common sense can prevail - and quickly.'

Bezos did respond quickly, by posting that letter and two others online.

The first email was sent on February 5, a proposed agreement was sent on February 6 and a third email was sent at an unknown date in response to a February 4 note sent by Bezos' lawyer Marty Singer to Howard.

These emails were sent just a few months after American Media agreed to fully cooperate with a Department of Justice investigation involving President Trump under penalty of law.

'Well, that got my attention. But not in the way they likely hoped. Any personal embarrassment AMI could cause me takes a back seat because there’s a much more important matter involved here,' explained Bezos in a post on Medium.

A 40-year-old woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sleeping with her employer’s 12-year-old son on two separate occasions despite knowing she has HIV. The former housemaid identified as Memory Makore who is a mother of five pleaded guilty to 2 counts of aggravated indecent assault for raping the minor on two separate occasions in Harare, Zimbabwe. .

According to New Zimbabwe, Memory told the Magistrate, I plead guilty…I admit that what I did was wrong. I don’t know what got into me. I had s-x with the boy twice, but I don’t think I infected him.

Although Makore is living with HIV, the medical affidavit produced in court showed that the minor is HIV negative.

Magistrate Kufa sentenced Memory to 30 years in prison. She then suspended five years on condition that Memory does not commit a similar crime in the next five years, meaning that the effective sentence is 25 years.

Imo SARS Arrests Dismissed Soldier For kidnapping

Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a dismissed soldier, Sampson David, for an alleged involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery.

Parading the suspect alongside others, on Wednesday, the state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, said that one English pump-action gun and two pairs of military uniform were recovered as exhibits from David.

The CP said, “On December 5, 2018, SARS operatives arrested one Amarachi Ihejirika of Umugama, Owu-Amakohia in the Ikeduru Local Government Area, Imo State, in connection with unlawful possession of firearm and impersonation.


“She confessed that the gun and military uniform belonged to her fiancée, who claimed to be a soldier.

“The said Sampson David, who has been terrorising Owerri and its environs through kidnapping and armed robbery, was arrested by our gallant officers.”

Galadanchi added that upon interrogation, the dismissed soldier confessed that he stole the gun from the Nigerian Legion’s office in Abia State.

According to the CP, the command will arraign the suspect in court at the conclusion of investigation.

While commending the SARS Commander, Victor Geoffrey, and his team, Galadanchi said the command was ready to deal with issues of violence as the general elections approach.

Guys Who Disgraced & Stripped A Lady Over Phone Nabbed

The man who allegedly mobilized thugs to molest, torture and insert pepper in a lady's private parts over alleged phone theft in a trending video, has been arrested.

According to Barrister Jefferson Uwoghiren, the man was arrested along with the manager of a hotel he lodged briefly in Benin City, Edo state.

The suspect was temporarily and amorously linked with the lady

and subsequently complained of a missing phone. He forced the victim to a native “doctor”, around Ugbiyokho area of Ekehuan Road, Benin City, to determine the culpability of the victim.

The victim was instantaneously pronounced guilty and asked to produce the missing phone. Her denial and protest fell on deaf ears.

The suspect, native “doctor” and apprentice native “doctors” pounced on the victim, beat her up, stripped her, and poured grounded chilly pepper, popularly called “Akpoko” in local language and inserted it into the victim’s private part, all dramatically caught on video.

According to reports, a massive manhunt is on for the native “doctor” and his apprentices.

The League of Patriotic Lawyers had earlier given Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusegun Odumosu, 24 hours to unravel those behind the torture of the lady.

We Are Worried Over Latest Security Deployment - Civil Society

Clement Nwankwo, convener of the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, has expressed concern over the recent redeployment of security operatives across the 36 states.

“If there’s some perception that security officials may be partisan, then I think responsible authorities should ensure that they are not included in election arrangement,” he said.

“So, the worry we have is why this deployment or changes are being made seven days to an election, and I think that’s the beat of the worry.”

He said this at a pre-election training organised by the Situation Room and TheCable on Thursday in Abuja.

Ahead of the election starting February 16, the Police Service Commission (PSC) redeployed police commissioners across the country.

In January, the United States had raised concern over the handling of security in the elections.

He also wondered the involvement of the military in the election, raising skepticism over the development.

5 Persons Killed, Atiku's Billboards Destroyed During Buhari's Campaign

At least five persons were on Thursday feared killed and many injured in Taraba during President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign in the northeastern state. Two were said to be in critical state.

Governor Ishaku’s convoy was also attacked on its way out of the

Danbaba Suntai Airport where he, his deputy Haruna Manu and other officials of the government went to see off the president at the end of his rally.

All of the governor’s posters and billboards and those of Atiku Abubakar in the State capital, Jalingo, were mutilated.

Bala Dan Abu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Governor Darius Ishaku, who confirmed the incident, condemned the “unfortunate bloodletting” and faulted security agents for negligence of duty.

Abu, who briefed reporters in Government House said: “The deputy governor’s car and several other cars in the convoy, including that of the commissioner of police and a Special Adviser to the governor, were damaged.

“The thugs, most of whom were imported from neighbouring states to create the false impression that APC enjoys a large following in the state, came heavily armed.

“They carried guns, cutlasses and sticks, which they displayed openly and in the full glare of security agents who merely looked the other way,” Abu said.

The governor’s media chief also accused the “APC thugs” of going round Jalingo metropolis and destroying PDP posters and billboards.

“They were given cover by the security agencies who fired gunshots to scare away those who may dare to confront them... The Taraba State government will no longer fold its arms while innocent people are being killed and maimed,” Abu said.
