US Warns Nigerian Govt. Officials Over Illegal Actions

US ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington has warned public officials in the country not to obey illegal directives issued in the name of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking with journalists on Thursday in Makurdi, Benue state capital, after a meeting with Governor Samuel Ortom, the ambassador said any politician whose utterances incite people to violence would be held to account for the crime.

He urged political leaders to ensure free and fair election as the polls draw closer.

“If anybody asks you to do something that is not right and says the boss wants you to do it, or the person at the top wants you to do it, don’t believe him; because the person at the top is honestly saying they want to win a fair election. There is a reason not to believe them,” the ambassador said.

“The citizens are responsible to their God, second to their conscience and third to the laws of Nigeria, fourth to the court of public opinion in Nigeria and finally international law and the rest of us.”

Trump's Doctor Says He Is In 'Very Good Health'

President Trump is “in very good health” and is expected to remain healthy for “the duration of his Presidency, and beyond,” the president’s doctor reported Friday after a physical exam that lasted nearly four hours and included 11 specialists.

The White House did not release details of the exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and did not say whether more details would be released.

Trump was seen by a “panel of 11 different board certified specialists,” Sean P. Conley wrote in a brief memorandum released by the White House.

The memo did not include the disciplines of any of the specialists. Typically, a physical exam includes checks of height, weight, blood pressure and other standard measures. Trump said last year that he takes a statin drug to manage his cholesterol.

My Cousin Taught Me How To Burgle Shops - Suspect

A self-confessed burglar, Daniel Olanrewaju, has ended up in police custody three weeks after he broke into a boutique in Agbado, Ogun State.

It was learnt that the 22-year-old suspect was accosted by some vigilantes in the community while he was roaming about last Tuesday night.

When he was questioned on his mission in the area, he reportedly could not give satisfactory answers. He was arrested and handed over to the police at the Agbado division.

After further interrogation, Punch correspondent gathered that he confessed to have burgled the boutique and stolen trousers, jerseys, among other clothes.

The resident of Somolu, Lagos State, reportedly led the police to arrest one Ibrahim, with whom he kept some of the stolen clothes.

Olanrewaju told City Round during the week that he burgled the boutique on January 28, 2019 at night. He said he entered the attic and broke the ceiling to gain access into the shop.

The furniture maker explained that after the operation, he took his loot to Costain area of Lagos and kept them with a friend.

He said, “I was very broke because I could not get any work from my customers. While I was thinking about the way out, it occurred to me that I could steal. I decided to go to somewhere far from where I live.

“On January 28, at night, I went to a complex at ‘Agbado under bridge’ and burgled a boutique. I broke the ceiling to enter the store. I stole several trousers and jerseys and ran away. I took them to my friend’s shop in Costain area of Lagos. I was thinking of how to sell them.”

He said when he could not find buyers for the items, he took some of them to Ibrahim, a tea seller in Agbado last Tuesday.

Olanrewaju explained that he was strategising on how to market the clothes without running into trouble until it was dark. He said he was stranded and decided to pass the night outside a shop.

He said, “As I wanted to sleep, a vigilante shone the torchlight on me. I ran to hide somewhere. The man alerted other vigilantes and I was caught. They asked me what I was doing outside at night and I told them I was stranded. They were not satisfied with my response and they threatened to kill me if I did not say the truth. That was why I decided to tell them about the crime.

“They beat me up and took me to the police station. I mentioned Ibrahim and the police arrested him. He did not know that I stole the clothes.”

Asked if he had been involved in the crime in the past, Olanrewaju stated that he was exposed to the act by his cousin while he was living in Benin Republic, where his father hailed from.

He said, “I am a secondary school leaver and I learnt how to make furniture. I had once lived in Agbado with my parents before I relocated to Somolu. I was born in Lagos but my father was from Benin Republic. He died in 2016 from sickness. I relocated to Benin Republic with my mum.

“One evening, my uncle’s son asked me to follow him somewhere. We hung around till 12am and he broke into a phone store through the attic. He asked me to keep watch outside. After some minutes, he came out with a lot of phones and we went back home. That was how I learnt how to break into shops. I relocated back to Nigeria in 2017 and I started living in Somolu.”

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect would soon be charged to court.

Big Battle For 2019 Presidency: Atiku, Buhari In Tight Race

Alexander Okere and Tunde Ajaja of The Punch take a look at the antecedent of President Muhammadu Buhari’s support base in the North-West and North-East, and highlight some factors that will test his popularity in the zones during the February 16 presidential election.

In the history of presidential elections in Nigeria, the 2019 election which is exactly seven days away will for many reasons be one of the most keenly contested.
This is according to observers and political analysts.

Even though a total of 73 political parties fielded candidates for the election, according to the information released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, observers have pointed out that the contest will mainly be between the candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari, and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Perhaps, one of the reasons the election will be interesting is that the two main contenders are both Muslims with huge following in the North, which according to INEC, is the region with higher number of voters.

While Buhari is from the North-West, precisely Katsina State, Atiku hails from Adamawa State in the North-East.

No doubt, it’s the second time in the current Fourth Republic that two Northerners will be the topmost contenders at a presidential election; the first time was 2007 when Buhari and late President Umaru Yar’Adua met at the poll.

That said, political analysts and a cross-section of the electorate are of the view that the 2019 presidential election will be a true test of Buhari’s reported popularity in the North-West and North-East geopolitical zones.

For example, in the 2003 presidential election, even though a Southerner, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo of the PDP polled 24,456,140 votes to win the election, Muhammadu Buhari, who was then the All Nigeria Peoples Party’s candidate, came second with 12,710,022 votes, the bulk of which came from the North.

Buhari won six of the seven states in the North-West. Specifically, he polled 6,631,090 votes while the PDP polled 2,764,846 votes.

In Jigawa State, Buhari polled 885,505 votes while Obasanjo got 202,502. In Kano State, he polled 1,627,877 votes while the PDP had 494,751 votes. In Katsina, his home state, Buhari scored 1,259,789, while the PDP scored 380,914. In Kebbi State, he scored 463,153 while PDP scored 228,372. In Sokoto State, he scored 681,153 while the PDP scored 232,258. And in Zamfara State, Buhari scored 843,159, while Obasanjo scored 200,702. In Kaduna State where he lost, he scored 870,454, while the PDP scored 1,025,347.

Also in the North-East, he won four out of the six states. He polled 3,694,367 while the PDP polled 2,941,608.

In Bauchi State, Buhari scored 1,680,542 while Obasanjo scored 617,291. In Borno State, he scored 727,595 while the PDP scored 380,875. In Gombe State, he scored 516,081 while the PDP scored 452,328. In Yobe State, he scored 286,975 while the PDP scored 135,807. Meanwhile in Adamawa, he scored 285,151 while the PDP led with 660,780. And in Taraba State, he scored 198,023 while the PDP led with 694,527.

In 2007, Buhari ran for the office of the President for the second time on the platform of the ANPP, against the candidate of the PDP, late Umaru Yar’Adua, and 16 others.

He came a distant second with 6,605,299 votes, losing to Yar’Adua who polled 24,638,063. Even though INEC did not release the official figures of the votes received by the two candidates in the 36 states and the FCT, analysts believe that most of the votes Buhari won in the election, which was widely criticised for widespread irregularities, must have been from the northern part of the country.

In the 2011 presidential election, Buhari again contested as the candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change and got a total of 12,214,853 votes (31.98 per cent) but lost with a lower margin of 10,280,334 votes to former President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP, who received 22,495,187 votes (58.89 per cent).

However, details of the results from the states showed that the former military head of state defeated the PDP in the North-West and North-East regions. In the North-West, Buhari scored 10,043,188 votes as against Jonathan’s 5,296,167 votes, in spite of the influence of the six of the governors who were of the ruling PDP.

For instance, in Kano, Buhari received 1,624,543 votes as against the 440,666 votes Jonathan got. He polled 1,334,244 votes in Kaduna while Jonathan garnered 1,190,179 votes.

While Buhari won in Jigawa State by securing 663,944 votes, Jonathan got 491,252 votes. The former military leader won in Katsina, his home state, with 1,154,000 votes as against Jonathan’s 424,587 votes. The President got 501,453 votes in Kebbi to defeat his rival, who got 369,198 votes. He also won in Sokoto and Zamfara by polling 540,969 votes and 624,515 votes, respectively, while the PDP candidates received 309,057 and 238,980 votes, respectively.

In the North-East, Buhari edged out the former president in four out of the six states in the region. The states and votes polled are Borno (Buhari, 909,763; Jonathan, 207,075), Gombe (Buhari, 459,898; Jonathan 290,347) Bauchi (Buhari 1,300,000; Jonathan 258,000), Yobe (Buhari, 337,547; Jonathan, 117,128). The President, however, got 334,526 votes in Adamawa while Jonathan got 508,314 votes. In Taraba, he polled 257,986 votes while Jonathan got 451,354 votes.

Meanwhile, in the 2015 presidential election; his fourth attempt, Buhari, who was the candidate of the APC, polled 15,424,921 votes, while Jonathan, the candidate of the PDP, came second with 12,853,162 votes.

Specifically, Buhari won in all the states in the North-West while he won in five out of the six states in the North-East.

Looking at the North-West; in Jigawa, he scored 885,988 against PDP’s 142,904. In Kaduna, he scored 1,127,760 against PDP’s 484,085. In Kano, he scored 1,903,999 against PDP’s 215,779. In Katsina, his home state, he scored 1,345,441 against PDP’s 98,937. In Kebbi, he scored 567,883 against PDP’s 100,972. In Sokoto, he scored 671,926 against PDP’s 152,199. And in Zamfara, he scored 612,202 against PDP’s 144,833.

In the North-East, he scored 374,701 in Adamawa against PDP’s 251,664. In Bauchi, he scored 931,598 against PDP’s 86,085. In Borno, he scored 473,543 against PDP’s 25,640. In Gombe, he scored 361,245 against 96,873. In Yobe, he scored 446,265 against PDP’s 25,526. However, he lost Taraba, where he scored 261,326 against PDP’s 310,800.

Meanwhile, in its campaign for the 2019 presidential election, the APC had stated that its candidate, Buhari, would again demonstrate his popularity-cum-victory in the North. The PDP had also maintained that it would not be business as usual for the President, while flaunting Atiku’s popularity in the region.

But analysts who spoke to our correspondents pointed out that the bloc votes the President had always enjoyed in the North would be strongly challenged and put to test, given that Buhari and the other topmost contender, Atiku, are from the same region.

A professor of Political Science at the University of Lagos, Prof. Derin Ologbenla, said even though Buhari had for years endeared himself to many from that part of the country and even beyond with his stance in his days as a military ruler, the opposition candidate would give him a run for his money, considering the fact that they are both from the same ethnic background.

He also said religion, which influenced some voters in the past, would play no role in the 2019 elections as the two candidates are Muslims.

Ologbenla said, “As a military administrator, he engrained discipline in the minds and actions of the people, through the War Against Indiscipline at that time. That endeared him to some people among the old.

“Now, the phenomenon of Buhari among the people was largely due to his being a grass roots man. The Talakawas in the North, the poor and the needy throughout the North as well as South-West admired him for those qualities. Buhari is a man that is seen as incorruptible in the sense that he doesn’t think he needs more than he has; he is not greedy for material wealth and I think even the poor and the rich can actually assess and value these qualities in any human being.

“When it comes to religion, Buhari is also pious. He is very religious; he doesn’t drink and you can see that he is also not obsessed with women. So, I think the man has been socially, religiously and, I will say, economically moderate in all that he does. So, one can give him respect for these and I think they are part of his influence in most parts of the North.

“But this election will be keenly contested. It is not going to be easy for Buhari because I think Atiku will give him a good run for his money. Atiku is also popular among the elite; some of the elite are corrupt and they will never like Buhari no matter his good qualities. Some of them hate him with passion and they don’t want him to continue.

“And religion will not play much role now because the two (Buhari and Atiku) are Muslims and they have Christians as their vice-presidential candidates. In all honesty, the assessment of Buhari’s performance and the promises being made by Atiku will provide choices for Nigerians at the polls.”

Also, Dr Kayode Esuola, a political scientist, said the presidential election in the North would not be a walkover for the President given that the two topmost contenders are from the North.

He said, “If we go on that assumption that elections are won on the basis of patronage, what we are likely to get is that the Buhari’s cult following is gradually melting and it’s not going to be a walkover for him this time round, given that the two of them are from the North.

“Followership can be of two types; it can be that which is huge and based on ideology, and it can also be that which is based on what you want to call dogmatic political affiliation.

“Given the fact that the people of the North are becoming increasingly educated, more civilised, politically savvy and liberal beyond what it used to be some years ago and are becoming exposed in all the instrumentality of communication, including the social media, the cult following for any candidate would gradually dissolve and move from dogmatic political affiliation to ideology-based.

“That is why it won’t be the same with what you have between Buhari and Yar’Adua in 2007.”

Esuola explained further that the way the major actors were already accusing each other had given a suspicion that rigging would be part of the exercise.

“You don’t need the wisdom of Solomon to know that and the political party that wins under this kind of situation is the one that can outsmart the other, in terms of rigging,” he added.

Also, in his assessment, a lawyer and former member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Ehiogie-West Idahosa, explained that Buhari enjoyed the goodwill of the poor, who made up a large chunk of the population in the North, due to his charisma.

Idahosa, however, noted that the President’s charisma might not play a major role in the election owing to the dissatisfaction expressed by some Nigerians about the high level of hardship and unemployment in the country.

Seriously? Lagos Primary School Pupils Initiated Into A Cult

Here is a picture of the primary school pupils who were rescued last week by the Lagos State Police command over cult related activities.

It was gathered that about 12 Primary School pupils between the ages of 6 and 16, were reportedly recruited and initiated into the dreaded cult group known as Awawa in the city of Lagos.

According to police report, the pupils were recruited by a 16-year-old girl identified as Salami Rasheedat who attends Egan Senior Grammar in Igando, Lagos and were undergoing training in order to become hardened members in the future before it got exposed.

The arrest which happened was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, at the State Police Command. The police boss revealed that two men were also arrested for initiating the Primary School pupils into the cult gang.

The police said it was a Guardian and Counseling teacher at the Egan Community School in Lagos who uncovered the cultists’ initiation ceremony plan. The school comprised of both primary and secondary levels.

The teacher was said to have noticed a particular incision on the lower jaws of some of the students and decided to ask questions about it, to which one of the children confessed that any school pupil or student seen with the mark was a member of the Awawa cult group.

The teacher raised an alarm and the school authorities reported the matter to the police.

Mikel Obi Escapes Plane Crash With New Teammates

Nigeria international footballer, John Mikel Obi and his Middlesbrough teammates will be thanking their stars that their flight back to base after their FA Cup match against Newport on Tuesday night had to be called off.

The squad and backroom staff were due to fly back to Teesside but engine failure in their aircraft stopped them leaving the ground.

They had to call back the club coach which was already heading North. They eventually got back to Rockliffe at 7am on Wednesday. Before arriving Newport for the match, the club’s flight was delayed for two hours due to bad weather.

The players were however given Wednesday off to recover and gather their thoughts ahead of their league match against Leeds United in the English Championship.

Club manager, Tony Pulis now wants his players to put the Newport debacle behind them and build on the hugely impressive 3-2 victory at West Brom last time out in the Championship.

Mikel who was not listed for the FA Cup tie against Newport which they lost is expected back in Boro’s starting line-up against Leeds on Saturday, in a potentially explosive game that could have a big bearing on their promotion.

Donald Duke Dismisses Buhari's Endorsement By SDP: Says "I'm Still In The Race"

A former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke, has said he is still the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) despite Thursday’s endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari by the party’s National Executive Committee.

Duke made his position known in a statement he signed personally.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I, Donald Duke, remain on the ballot and the candidate of the SDP as recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission.”

The former governor described the decision of the party’s NEC to adopt Buhari as unfortunate.

“I need not say more; suffice that I remain on the ballot and thereby still present myself as a candidate for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.

Meanwhile, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the SDP, Professor Iyorwuese Hagher, on Friday declared for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Hagher, who addressed journalists in Makurdi, distanced himself from the decision of the party’s National Working Committee which endorsed the APC presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari.

The decision by the National Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Party to endorse Buhari, according to the party, was informed by the protracted legal squabbles within the party which had made the party unable to commence campaign.

Hagher, a former minister said, “The action negates the spirit and the motto of the SDP to support the APC in the forthcoming presidential election.”

The former ambassador to Mexico described the decision as “extremely unpopular, largely motivated by nothing more than selfishness, greed and arrogance of the SDP leadership.”

He said, “I, Professor Ambassador Iyorwuese Hagher, and my team, the Revolution of Hope, have received with shock, disbelief and horror, the decision of the party leaders of the SDP to support the APC in the forthcoming presidential elections!

“This action totally negates the spirit and the motto of the SDP which is “Peace, Unity and Progress.” The action amounts to one political step forward, two lock steps backwards.

“It is no longer the SDP of Moshood Abiola. They have systematically destroyed democracy in the SDP and put up the party for sale.
“As a major stakeholder of the party, I hereby denounce the decision to sell the SDP to the APC. I will never succumb to the pressure to return the country that I loved dearly and wanted to be its president to brutal dictatorship and fascism.”

He added, “I therefore call on all SDP supporters nationwide to reject being sold to slavery, incipient dictatorship, oppression and recurrent insecurity.

“This unpopular arbitrary decision of a few insensitive and wantonly parasitic party leaders is a grave betrayal of loyal SDP members nationwide who have endured senseless arbitrariness, terrible greed and the painful process of building the party.”

I Stopped Acting Love Roles From Day I Met My Husband –Mercy Johnson

Unlike some of her contemporaries, multi-talented actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie and her husband have maintained a marriage without scandals.

In this exclusive interview she granted at a film location recently, the screen idol speaks on the ups and downs of marriage and the sacrifices she had to make to sustain a happy home. Enjoy it.

How do you spice up your own marriage, as we see more of you and your husband on Instagram?

I don’t want to talk about my husband. Everybody knows that my husband is very cute. So, don’t let him take the shine off the interview (laughs).

How do you cope as a mother and actress?

I have kids, they always see me like the role model they have. So, everyday I try to do better to cover up the mistakes I made in the past. I try to make better diaries for them to avoid embarrassment, the Internet never forgets. I wouldn’t want them to grow up to see any embarrassing thing about me on the Internet. One day, I asked my daughter what she wants to become when she grows up, she looked me in the eyes and said: ‘Mummy, I want to be exactly like you’.
What kind of role you won’t play at this stage?

I think it’s nudity, any form of nudity.

What if your husband allows you?

He will never give me that consent. My husband is an Ishan man. Yes, he wouldn’t like that kind of thing. But I have to be very careful with everything I do now, because I have kids. I have to live right for them; and do everything within my comfort zone to maintain a clean slate. I have stopped doing romance roles; I now do more of comedy. I think I have enough of romance movies.

Is it because your husband gets jealous watching you kiss in movies?

From the minutes we started dating, I stopped taking body contact or body touching roles. I had to move to the next level.

APC Reacts To Supreme Court Judgement On Rivers

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it was studying the Friday judgement of the Supreme Court as it concerned its participation in the 2019 Rivers governorship election.

The party also said Senator Ayogu Eze remain its governorship candidate in Enugu state as the man the court ask INEC to recognise was not known to the party and never participated in the primaries conducted by the party.

This was made known in a statement on Friday by the
National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, that the only option left for the party was to review the judgement and see what other legal means is left.

He said, “Our legal department is looking into the judgement of the Supreme Court. It is not the kind of judgement we looked forward to base on the facts that we are aware of. The only option before us now is to review this judgement and see what other means that is legal.

“We think we deserve to field candidates in Rivers state. We know we did the right thing. We had our primaries even though there are issues around it. I don’t know why it appears the APC is the only party that is being subjected to this kind of scrutiny from the electoral body”.

“It is the same APC that PDP has continued to raise flags as being the party that wants to rig election and is supposed to be working in cahoots with INEC. If this is the way to work in cahoots with INEC, we need to ask further questions. We know what we did in Rivers compared to what PDP did in many of the thirty-six states”.

“PDP shouldn’t field candidates in many states if the same parameters applied by the electoral body are applied to the PDP. Our legal department will review the outcome of this as unpalatable as it is and we will be able to say categorically the next step we might be taking and come out with it in due course”.

On the judgement disqualifying Senator Ayogu Eze as the party candidate in Enugu state, Onilu said the party stand by Senator Ayogu Eze, stating that he remains the governorship candidate in Enugu state.

He said “We would say that we have acknowledged the judgement of the court but we do know the party followed the procedure and the processes that led to the emergence of Senator Ayogu Eze is what this party believes in. We believe that the Appeal Court will do the right thing and upturning it”.

“Senator Ayogu Eze remains in the eyes of the party, the governorship candidate for Enugu state. The person that has been so declared by a court is unknown to this party because he did not even participate in the primaries that we organised. So there is no way he could have emerged as our candidate.

“Again, as I speak to you we have appealed the judgement and secured a stay of execution. So even legally as at today, Senator Ayogu Eze is the candidate of APC in Enugu state. We are very confident he is going to deliver.”

Fraud In NBC: Parties Call For Lai Mohammed's Arrest

Opposition political parties on the platform of the Coalition of United Political Parties on Friday called for the arrest and prosecution of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, over alleged N2.5bn Digital Switch Over fraud rocking the National Broadcasting Commission.

The coalition’s spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere, in a statement said the commission’s Director-General, Kawu Modibbo, who is currently being prosecuted on the matter was being used as a scapegoat to save Lai Mohammed.

Ugochinyere said it was surprising that a government that claimed to be fighting corruption could retain a minister whose ministry oversees the commission enmeshed in fraud as its spokesman.

He said, “Opposition political parties have expressed concern over the pressure being mounted by the Presidency on the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to discontinue the investigation of a N2.5bn Digital Switch Over fraud rocking the National Broadcasting Commission because the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, whose ministry supervises the commission is linked to the fraud.

“It is surprising that President Muhammadu Buhari will keep boasting of fighting corruption while in the real sense of it, his government is corruption personified.

“The Federal Government is currently prosecuting the Director-General of the NBC, Kawu Modibbo, on the matter while Lai Mohammed is left alone despite that he was linked to the fraud.”

He added, “What we have seen so far is that Alhaji Mohammed has continued to make inflammatory comments in order to continue to appease the Presidency for shielding him from prosecution.

“We therefore demand the arrest and prosecution of Alhaji Lai Mohammed over this monumental fraud to prove that this administration is indeed committed to fighting corruption.”

Presidential Election: Atiku Warns Military Officers

The presidential candidate of the leading opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, yesterday warned the military not to meddle into politics by taking sides to favour any of the parties.

“The military is not supposed to be involved in politics but see it as a duty to protect the territorial integrity of the nation,”
Atiku said at the U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar. Addressing a packed stadium, he also urged the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain neutral in the entire electoral process.

He said if he wins the elections, one of the policy thrust of his administration would be to invest in education so as to lift the youths.

“I will invest in education so that youths in the state can advance themselves,” he said. Atiku promised to partner Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State to industrialize the state and create job opportunities.

Why My Father Almost Disowned Me - Actor Femi Branch

Young Femi Branch gained admission to the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, to study Religious Studies. However, what his father had in mind was for his son to become a lawyer.

In fact, his father loved the law profession that he went back to school to bag a diploma degree in the course. So he was so disappointed when his son suddenly decided to become an actor; a profession that was not popular at the time.

While talking with Saturday Beats, the actor said that his father almost disowned him because of his career choice. “It was a serious matter for me at home when I decided to study theatre arts because my father always wanted a lawyer. It was so bad that he had to go back to the University of Ibadan to take a diploma course in law; he really wanted one of his children to become a lawyer but I could not have been bothered.

“For him, it was a disappointment and he almost did not contact me for about two years. Our fight was settled when I did a commercial for MTN. I was not in Lagos and we had not spoken for a long time before that and out of the blue, I got a call from my dad; he was asking me how I was doing. He said that he saw the advertisement and congratulated me on it.

“I called my mother later and she was the one that told me that one of my father’s friends had seen the billboard and called his attention to it. He went there to check. It was not easy but I am thankful for the fact that they were later glad that I took the decision that I did,” he said.

A quick search of the actor’s name on google will bring up articles that the actor is worth about $6m.

However, the actor told Saturday Beats that his net worth was not up to that amount, even though he added that he aspired to be worth such an amount.

He said, “The interesting thing about the work we do is that it is showbiz; it is driven largely by perception. People just look at us, they see the glitz and glamour and believe that we are worth a certain amount of money; let us not even talk about the musicians that exaggerate their net worth. In our profession, because of the nature of our vocation, there is the tendency for people to ascribe more to you than you are worth; I pray to be worth $6m.”
