ISIS bride Shamima Begum has had her British citizenship revoked, according to reports. The 19-year-old's family was told the news in a letter from the Home Office.
It reportedly reads: "Please find enclosed papers that relate to a decision taken by the Home Secretary, to deprive your daughter, Shamima Begum, of her British citizenship.
"In light of the circumstances of your daughter, the notice of the Home Secretary's decision has been served of file today (19th February), and the order removing her British citizenship has subsequently been made."
The letter reportedly said the family had the right to appeal.
It advised her family to make Ms Begum aware of the situation, according to reports.
Ms Begum's family have said they are "disappointed" that the Home Office have written to them to say they intend to deprive her of her British citizenship, their lawyer Tasnime Akunjee said.
In a statement posted on Twitter, he said: "Family are very disappointed with the Home Office's intention to have an order made depriving Shamima of her citizenship.
"We are considering all legal avenues to challenge this decision."
Rita Ora's mum broke down in tears on today's Loose Women as she spoke about her heartbreaking cancer battle.
Vera Sahatciu, 55, underwent a mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.
The mother-of-three was just 39-years-old when she went through the "tough" journey.
Vera revealed she is now the face of a post-mastectomy swimwear range launched by charity Future Dreams.
She also opened up on leaving her home in Kosovo and successful career as a GP to move to the UK.
Rita was only one-years-old when she moved to the UK with her family.
Speaking about her ordeal, mum Vera said: "I myself had breast cancer at the age of 39 and my children were small. My son was only seven.
"It was really difficult and moving to another country I couldn’t speak English at all. Back home I was a GP and had a wonderful career."
Vera confessed she struggled to learn the language at first and felt "unfulfilled" after losing her profession.
She said: "The journey I had was really tough. At a young age, treatment tends to be more rigours and prolonged.
"When it's diagnosed younger, treatment gets to be more intense and extensive. I had chemotherapy and radiotherapy and a mastectomy."
"Sorry it's still hard to talk about," confessed Vera as she wiped away tears.
Vera, who is now a psychiatrist working for the NHS, is the face of a new lingerie collection for women who are post-mastectomy.
She said: "I thought the only thing I can do at least is try and show women even if you have scarring there is swimwear created now that can fulfil our part to look great and feel confident."

Absence of defence counsel Mathias Emeribe yesterday stalled the continuation of hearing of the Offa robbery suspects at the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin.
The case had been adjourned till February 19 and 20 for continuation of examination of witnesses by the prosecution. The accused, Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salaudeen Azeez and Niyi Ogundiran were in court yesterday.
Prosecution counsel Prof Wahab Egbewole told the court that
Mr. Emeribe called and sent text message to him on what he described as “life threatening experience on the road” and suggested adjournment, which the court reluctantly agreed with.
Justice Halima Saleeman expressed disappointment about the absence of the defence counsel.
She said the prosecution counsel should have asked for details of the “life threatening experience” of the defence counsel.
“Does it mean that he won’t step out of his room till after the national elections? I can’t fathom this excuse and explanation, for someone to sit in the comfort of his house and be sending text messages. This court is only interested in timely dispensation of the matter and any delay can put the court in jeopardy,” the judge said.
She, thereafter, adjourned hearing till March 14 and 15.
Addressing reporters after the sitting, Prof. Egbewole said the defence counsel called him on Sunday and also sent a text message to him on Tuesday that he could not be in court, suggesting a date after the elections.
He said: “This is just to show on the part of the prosecution that we’ve arranged our witnesses because we have them here from Plateau and Zamfara states, to ensure that the matter proceeds. But here we are.”
PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday asked Nigerians not to be afraid, saying they had fought leaders, who he described as more ruthless and more dictatorial than President Buhari, in the past.
Atiku was reacting to Buhari's order that ballot box snatchers should be shot.
He spoke at the opening of the emergency National Executive Committee meeting of the PDP in Abuja. He also cautioned soldiers and other security agents against obeying unlawful orders from President Buhari.
He said the military and other security agencies were not bound to obey unlawful orders.
Atiku said, “When you people are talking about democracy, I have always said that General Muhammadu Buhari is not a democrat. He has never been a democrat. We started the fight to drive the military away from governance, he was never there. He never participated.
“I am sure that you have followed with interest, utterances from the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, and General Muhammadu Buhari in particular which are a painful reminder of the era of dictatorship and military rule. General Buhari has consistently violated the constitution; he failed to uphold the rule of law.
“Only yesterday (Monday), General Buhari said and I quote, “The military and police should be ruthless. Anybody who disturbs the voting system will do so at his own risk,” that is General Buhari.
“It is shocking for any head of state to utter such words in a democracy and we shall not accept it from General Buhari in this country. We have fought more ruthless dictators than him.”
The Nigeria Customs Service has said that four members of the patrol team involved in the killing of their civilian ‘friend’, Godwin Onoja, have been detained.
It also stated that a panel set up to investigate the killing could not conclude its investigation because the officer, who accidentally shot Onoja, Destiny Onebamho, was receiving medical attention after he was attacked by motorists following the killing.
Onoja was shot by a member of the five-man Customs patrol team while they were trying to allegedly extort N5,000 bribe from a group of travellers coming from Europe at the Sagamu end of the Lagos-Ore-Benin Expressway.
It was gathered that the victim was shot during an altercation between the officers of the Federal Operations Unit of the NCS, Ikeja, Lagos, and the travellers, who boarded an Iyare Motors’ passenger bus travelling to Benin City from Lagos.
A statement from the NCS Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah, on Tuesday, said Onebamho would be questioned by the panel once fit to enable it conclude its investigation and recommend appropriate actions to be taken against the operatives.
According to the statement, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (retd.) has directed a thorough investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the incident with a view to ensuring that justice is served.
Attah stated, “Following the unfortunate incident of Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the Sagamu interchange involving operatives of the Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’, which led to the death of a fellow citizen, Mr Godwin Onoja, the Nigeria Customs Service has continued to maintain close contact with the bereaved family.
“We are pained by this sad development and share the grief of losing a fellow compatriot in a seemingly avoidable circumstance. We will continue to take every necessary step to cushion the pain associated with losing a dear one.
“In line with this directive, the investigation panel headed by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘A’, ACG Kaycee Ekekezie, has interrogated and detained four members of the patrol team.
“The panel could not immediately conclude the investigation because the actual officer, ASCI Destiny Onebamho, whose rifle accidentally discharged and killed Onoja, is presently receiving medical attention following the attack on him owing to the unfortunate incident. He will face the panel as soon as he is fit to do so to enable the panel conclude investigation and recommend appropriate actions.”
Attah added that the ongoing investigation would be holistic and would involve looking at the weapon handling skills of the operatives and actions that must be taken by the service to prevent future occurrences.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie, a lawyer for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Giwa-Osagie was picked up by the EFCC operatives on Monday night for allegedly laundering $2m. He was reportedly implicated by a bureau de change operator who identified him as the owner of the money.
Giwa-Osagie, it was gathered, had been undergoing interrogation in the custody of the anti-graft commission.
An EFCC source said, “We believe the money was earmarked for either campaign financing, vote-buying or to compromise electoral officials but investigations would show what the money was meant for, the sources and why it was routed outside regular banking channels.”
Acting spokesman for the EFCC, Tony Orilade, failed to comment on the detention of the lawyer after he had earlier promised to find out about the arrest from the relevant department in the commission.
A former deputy spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, described the arrest as a witch-hunt by the APC, noting that the anti-graft agency had left nobody in doubt that it was doing the bidding of the Buhari presidency.
In a statement on Tuesday, Frank said the arrest of Giwa-Osagie a few weeks after Tunde Ayeni, a former chairman of Skye Bank Plc (now Polaris Bank), was picked up and detained, showed that the APC was desperate to “starve the opposition of critical funding for its campaign.”
He called on the international community to sanction the acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, for allegedly detaining opposition figures illegally in order to dampen their chances in the forthcoming elections.
Frank said, “Magu cannot claim to be fighting corruption when the only people he finds to be allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities are key members of the opposition. This is a witch-hunt and highly selective.
“Today, the EFCC is clearly an arm of the APC; no thanks to Magu who has officially pledged his support to Buhari by wearing his re-election campaign brooch on his suit lapel.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disagreed with President Muhammadu Buhari over his order to security agents to kill ballot box snatchers during the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, that the commission stands by the Electoral Act which “states that persons who snatch election materials are liable to a prison term of two years or maximum fine of N500,000.”
Buhari had said, “I am going to warn anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his locality to lead a body of thugs, snatch ballot boxes or to disturb the voting system, he will do it at the expense of his own life.”
Responding to Buhari’s comment, the INEC chairman said, “The position of the commission is that all violators of the Electoral Act should be punished according to the provisions of the Electoral Act.”

Yakubu also said INEC had achieved 95 per cent configuration of the Smart Card Readers to be deployed for the elections.
He said, “I want to report that as of last night, we have achieved 95 per cent configuration of the 180,000 card readers and this process is going to be completed on Wednesday morning (today), one day ahead of schedule.”
Yakubu also disclosed that as at 4p.m. on Monday, all issues related to delivery of materials were identified and virtually addressed, saying ballot papers, result sheets and non-sensitive materials were now in locations across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

Sanders, 77, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, announced his candidacy in an email to supporters, pledging to build a vast grassroots movement to confront the special interests that he said dominate government and politics.
In his campaign, Sanders said he would push for many of the same issues that powered his 2016 bid and resonated with younger voters, including universal healthcare, raising the minimum wage, and free public college tuition.
