PDP Will Be Defeated On Saturday - Tinubu

All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council Co-chairman Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday urged party members in Lagos to intensify the mobilisation for Saturday’s rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections.

Noting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was jittery, he said the ruling party will defeat the opposition party at the poll and put it to shame.

The former Lagos State governor also explained why Igbo in Lagos should vote for the APC, saying that the government in the Centre of Excellence has never discriminated against them and other non-indigenes in the distribution of the dividends of democracy.

Tinubu, who urged women leaders to mobilise traders for the crucial poll, also advised youths to heed President Muhammadu Buhari’s advice by shunning thuggery, ballot snatching and other forms of violence.

He advised party faithful to accommodate defectors from the rival PDP, saying that they had become legitimate members of the fold whose cooperation are required for mobiliasation for victory.

Oh Dear! Oyo Sacks Lamiju Akala For Decamping

The Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Olamijuwon Akala has been sacked!

The decision followed the change of party by the sacked local government chairman from the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) to the Action Democratic Party (ADP), the platform on which his father is contesting the governorship seat.

The Oyo State Government made the announcement through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Bimbo Kolade, at the state secretariat in Ibadan yesterday.

In his place, former Vice Chairman Abas Bello has been sworn in an acting capacity to chair the council. Olamiju was elected on May 12, last year, on the platform of the APC, but alongside some of his councillors, he defected to the ADP to support his father’s ambition, hence is sack.

Five Workers Steal Employer’s N105m Jewellery

Five domestic workers have been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly breaking into their employer’s room and carting away her gold jewellery valued at N105m.

The defendants, Segun Akintola, 49; Tomisin Alade, 28; Felicia Musa, 23; Amaka Irozuru, 38; and Zakara Yau, 38, were arraigned on five counts bordering on conspiracy, housebreaking, stealing and possession of stolen items.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Raphael Donny, the defendants conspired among themselves and entered into the bedroom of their employer, Mrs Oluyemisi Wada, who had travelled out of the county, and stole her gold jewellery worth N105m.

Donny said the defendants committed the offences with others still at large on November 23, 2018, around 9pm on Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.

He said one of the defendants, a housemaid, left the house to an unknown destination for a week before the personal assistant to the complainant got to know about the stolen jewellery.

The prosecutor stated, “The PA to the complainant received a phone call from the complainant from the United Kingdom to retrieve her bedroom keys from one of the defendants, who was a cook, in order to check the room.

“The PA met the complainant’s bedroom door ajar and upon entering, he discovered that her safe containing her gold jewellery valued at N105m had been carted away by an unknown person.

“On the same day, the said housemaid called the PA with a foreign phone number and told him that she did not know how she found herself at the Ghana-Togo border.

“The police saw other defendants from the CCTV footage watching the premises to know if the coast was clear for the housemaid, who is the prime suspect, to come out from the house before exiting the main gate.”

The charges read in part, “That you, Segun Akintola, aka Akarigbo; Tomisin Alade, aka Lotto; Felicia Musa; Amaka Irozuru, aka Amina; Zakara Yau, aka Saka, and others now at large, on November 23, 2018, around 9pm, at No. 18B Banana Island Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, in the Lagos

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene sections 287, 307, 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).

Donny said Section 287 of the law stipulated a seven-year jail term for stealing, while Section 307 provided for three years in prison for housebreaking.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties each in like sum.

Osunsanmi said the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government and have their addresses verified by the court.

A keke driver has been given the shock of his life after a man came down from his car to deal with him for assaulting a woman. The man came down to defend a defenseless lady who was being assaulted by the keke driver.

An argument ensued after the lady dropped from the tricycle...

According to Kehinde Aderibigbe, the tricyclist pushed the lady on her forehead and she also pushed back, hence, the tricyclist started beating the lady.

“What a shame! I wonder why these keke and danfo drivers think it’s okay to do this simply because some have no choice than to ride in their means of transportation. I’m honestly so gutted because this is not the first time I’ve seen stuff like this happen,” she added.

Beautiful Final Year Student Dies In Terrible Accident

This is sad! A young Nigerian undergraduate lady has passed away after being involved in a fatal accident which happened yesterday along Auchi–Abuja expressway.

The beautiful lady identified as Testimony Ayewa, a final year student of Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state, returned from the village two days ago to resume first semester before the accident which killed her.

She boarded a commercial motorcycle with two of her friends (three passengers plus the motorcyclist, making it four people on the bike) on the fateful day...

The motorcycle left Campus 1 and was heading to Jattu junction, where they met a fuel tanker on the highway. In the course of the motorcyclist trying to overtake the tanker with speed, they were hit.

Two of Testimony’s friends survived the crash, as one came out with a broken hand while the other didn’t sustain any injury. The motorcyclist (Okada rider), was unconscious. Testimony, who was removed from the tyre of the trailer, died before she could be rushed to the hospital.

Man Trekked To Abuja To Celebrate Buhari's Victory, Returns With APC Casket On His Head (Photos)

The Buhari presidency appears to have lost a number of supporters who influenced his victory in the 2015 general elections about three years ago. The man who trekked from Lagos to Abuja to celebrate Buhari's victory has been seen trekking to Abuja again with APC casket.

The angry Nigerian man says he's trekking to Abuja to bury the casket inside Aso Rock Mortuary, because the youth of the country are very disappointed in the President Buhari-led government.

President Buhari said he has done well, yet there is mass poverty in the land with high cost of living; goods and services in all time high.

Presidency In Panic; Puts Embassies, Diplomats Under Watch

The Federal Government may have put embassies and diplomats under surveillance over its suspicion that they are interfering in election matters in the country. Daily Independent learnt that the government’s action would be in reaction to the suspicion that these diplomats may have brought in some sophisticated equipment meant for election monitoring and installed them in their embassies.

According to the source, the Buhari Government believes that
the equipment would be used for the forthcoming election. The government’s response, according to highly placed sources, may define the country’s relationship with the international community if President Buhari wins the presidential election on Saturday.

The Federal Government and its security agencies believe that diplomats and their embassies are meddling in the electoral exercise – an action forbidden in diplomatic circles.

“Diplomatic rules forbid diplomats from making comments on Nigeria’s internal matters. We are aware that key politicians and media also encourage this trend,” explained a top security source.

According to the source, all members of the Nigerian intelligence community who frown at this trend have since put some of the diplomats under watch.

“We have no problem with anybody who brings equipment explicitly for polls monitoring, but we frown at the use of such device to compromise our national security,” the source said.

The source further stated that there would be sanctions from the Nigerian government in the event of any diplomatic infractions by embassies and diplomats.

Regardless, international polls observers, including embassies with strong ties to the nation, insist that the February/March elections were very critical not only for the survival of the country, but also for the West African sub-region. They, therefore, insist that the standard of the polls should not fall short of that of 2015.

But there are other versions to the allegations made by government and the threats of sanction on diplomatic missions in Nigeria.

Some sources, however, said what security agencies might be alluding to as “surveillance equipment” could just be the Parallel Voting Tabulation (PVT) system, which is being introduced by opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PVT, a vote integrity monitoring application, is principally a replica of electronic vote transfer app but with improvements in taking audio, visual tabulation of results, starting from basic polling units.

It was also learnt that its margin of error is single digit, less than 5 percent.

According to PDP's Osita Chidoka, the PVT device was a scientific tool that prevents rigging and assures the credibility of the election result.

“The PVT is a tool that will assure that PDP partisans accept the result of the elections, and that the country remains peaceful and respectful of its differences. We are aware that other PVTs will be conducted by civil societies.
“Hard copies of the signed voter tally provided to all party agents by the NEC officers will be transported to the central command centre should future disputes need to be reconciled.

“We have built a national network of fully equipped situation rooms and call centres. PDP has established a reporting system for the PVT through the wards, to the district headquarters, to the states, to the national tally centre.

“The system has redundancies built at all levels – in the event of an internet or communications shutdown or failure or any other eventualities.”

According to him, the PDP would deploy an unprecedented number of trained party agents to each of the 176,000 polling units across the country to monitor the election.

Bread Seller Turned Model, Olajumoke, Faces Hard Times?

The fairy tale rise-to- fame of Olajumoke Orisaguna in 2016 inspired millions of Nigerians, captured the interest of international media and served as a prayer point for many who desired such overnight transformation.

Olajumoke became the modern-day Nigerian Cinderella when she accidentally strayed into a photo shoot by TY Bello, a Nigerian singer/photographer, while hawking bread on Olonode Street, Yaba, Lagos.

Following her accidental encounter with the photo shoot,
TY Bello and Azuka Ogujiuba, a former senior reporter with ThisDay Style, collaborated to make a model and celebrity out of Olajumoke.

Subsequently, companies rolled over themselves to favour the 30-year-old. At the end of the media blitz which included features on CNN and BBC, the bread seller got a five-year rent of a fully furnished apartment bankrolled by Sujimoto, a luxury apartment construction company. She also secured modelling contracts with e-commerce company, Payporte, and Zenith Bakery.

The interventions and series of accompanying developments saw the fortune of the bread seller take a leap – but three years down the line, things are not as rosy as expected in the life of the mother of two.

eelive can reveal that she is struggling economically and her relationship with Sunday Orisaguna, the lover for whom she has her two children, is on its way south as well.

At the moment, Olajumoke cannot boast of any concrete means of livelihood. At home, things are not easy. Sunday said life has been incredibly tough, and that help is farther from him because many people assume that Olajumoke has made it big, and that consequently, he’s also rich.

He lamented that Olajumoke and her family have refused to agree to the formalization of their relationship despite having two children together.

Although Olajumoke and her erstwhile manager, Azuka Ogujiuba, would not discuss the details of their parting of ways, both maintained that they remain friendly and accessible to one another.

Sources close to both parties, however, insist that the severance of their relationship has left the former bread seller at sea.

This suspicion was confirmed by Sunday who told eelive that “I think she was better when she was with Azuka because Azuka and TY Bello have great connections that paid Olajumoke more”.

Sunday also complained that he is often kept out of the loop of Olajumoke’s activities.
He said: “I just know her manager calls her, they go out and return late. Sometimes she returns as late as past 12am and without explanations. She doesn’t even tell me where they go and what happens.”

The former bread seller herself confirmed that things are not as promising as they were three years ago.

Although she has no job and savings, Olajumoke spoke of her desire to have a home of her own before the existing rent expires in two years and to establish a haircare business before the end of 2019.

Woman Wants To Use Skin From Her Amputated Leg To Make A Handbag

A woman in the UK is about to have her leg amputated and she intends to use her own skin to make a handbag.

Joan, from Manchester, is getting ready to have her lower left leg surgically removed due to peripheral arterial disease  a circulatory condition in which narrowed blood vessels reduce blood flow to the limbs.

But the 55-year-old isn't letting her upcoming loss get her down -- quite the opposite. She has big plans for her leg  or more specifically the skin attached to it.

Joan wants to wear her skin where everyone can see it on her arm in the form of a handbag.

On her search for a designer willing to turn her dream into a reality, Joan approached to Sewport.com -- an online marketplace connecting brands and manufacturers -- who have taken her ~unusual~ request in their stride.

In an effort to connect her with designers willing to work with -- deep breaths -- HUMAN SKIN, Sewport have mocked up potential designs of the quirky accessory.

According to her written request, Joan has a budget of about $5,500 -- or £3,000 -- and is hoping for a medium-sized bag with a short strap.

"I know it is a bit odd and gross, and some might think I'm crazy, but it's my leg and I can’t bare [sic] the thought of it being left to rot somewhere. It's part of me and I want to keep it."
And the people at Sewport are totally chill about it all, writing on their website, "Before you say 'ew gross!', we've spoken with the woman and her reasoning behind it is actually understandable and very personal."

According to them, Joan was inspired after seeing a similar request from a woman who wanted a dress made from her mother’s hair. Plus, as Joan herself pointed out, parents often keep their baby's umbilical cords as a memento, and dead relative's ashes are stored on mantle pieces around the world.

Alabama Woman Who Joined ISIS Is Begging To Come Back Home, Hoda Muthana

At the age of 19, a young woman from Hoover, Alabama traveled to Syria to join ISIS -- the so-called "Islamic State."

Five years and three husbands later, she says she regrets what she did and is begging to return to the US.

In a recent handwritten note obtained by CNN from a family representative, Hoda Muthana writes, "When I left to Syria I was a naive, angry, and arrogant young woman. I thought that I understood my religious beliefs."

But after witnessing the devastation of war, including the death of two husbands, Muthana said she became disillusioned.

"During my years in Syria I would see and experience a way of life and the terrible effects of war which changed me. Seeing bloodshed up close changed me. Motherhood changed me. Seeing friends, children, and the men I married dying changed me," the now 24-year-old wrote.

"Seeing how different a society could be compared to the beloved America I was born and raised into changed me. Being where I was and seeing the (people) around me scared me because I realized I didn't want to be a part of this. My beliefs weren't the same as theirs."

Once described as shy and reserved by a high school classmate, Muthana was fiercely outspoken in her support for jihad after joining ISIS. During the height of the self-declared caliphate, Muthana posted tweets calling for violence, according to the Program on Extremism at the George Washington University.

"Hoda was right in the mix for English language propagandists," said terror researcher Seamus Hughes. "We followed her for a number of years. She was a key node."

She demanded more Americans come to the self-proclaimed Caliphate and join the fight with ISIS.

"Soooo many Aussies and Brits here, but where are the Americans, wake up u cowards," she posted in January 2015.

And under the name Umm Jihad, she encouraged attacks in the US, tweeting this exhortation in March 2015: "Go on drive-bys and spill all of their blood, or rent a big truck and drive all over them."

According to Mia Bloom, who tracks female jihadis at Georgia State University, "She was one advocating for extreme violence, especially against American military and servicemen."

JAMB Postpones 2019 UTME Exams

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has postponed the mock examination of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination slated to start from Saturday, February 23, because of the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The board also said, on Wednesday, that it may reschedule the 2019 UTME if the country’s elections drag until the earlier fixed dates of Saturday, March 16, to Saturday, March 23.

According to the new timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections slated for March 2 have been rescheduled to March 9, which fuels fears that the UTME slated for March 16 may be affected.

The JAMB Head of Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in an interview on Wednesday, said the board could announce new dates for the UTME if the elections did not conclude by March 9.

Benjamin added that a new date for the mock examination would be announced by the management shortly.
