Aisha Buhari Speaks: Choose Between Poverty & Wealth

The wife of the president Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has asked Nigerians as they go to the polls on Saturday, to decide whether the want the poor to remain poorer and the rich richer or a society where the gap begins to be reduced - which means a more prosperous society.

She stated this on Thursday while presenting empowerment packs to 1,250 women and youths from the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

A statement by her media adviser Adebisi, Olumide Ajayi, quoted Mrs. Buhari, as saying that poverty is one of the indices that encourage people to embrace vices like terrorism, kidnapping, and begging.

Court Orders Jay Jay Okocha's Arrest Over Tax Fraud

A court in Lagos has ordered the arrest of former Super Eagles star, Austin Okocha, over tax evasion charges. This was ordered by the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere.

Jay Jay Okocha has repeatedly failed to appear before the court to answer why he allegedly failed to pay his income taxes.

Adedayo Akintoye, the judge, issued the warrant for the arrest of the former Eagles captain on January 29 and thereafter adjourned until February 19, PT reports.

However, on February 19, the prosecution had not effected the arrest forcing the judge to, again, adjourn till April 15 and ordered that the warrant is executed by then.

The football star is facing a three-count charge instituted by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice bordering on failure to furnish his income returns and nonpayment of tax.

The state filed the charges through its prosecutor, Jide Martins, in June 2017 and the suit began four months later.

The defendant, however, had failed to appear in court.

After several adjournments without Mr Okocha appearing despite having been served the court papers, Mr Martins prayed the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

According to the prosecutor, Mr Okocha had failed to furnish his income returns for tax purposes to the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service. He said the offences contravened the Law.

Dear Nigerians,

1.Finally, we have reached the eve of the rescheduled first round of this year’s general elections.

2. Tomorrow, the polls open. Tomorrow, we affirm that Nigeria stands as a democracy and that no worldly hand can deter us from this wise and fitting path we have chosen for ourselves.

3. While democracy is the most beneficial way to select a nation’s leaders, it is far from the easiest thing to achieve and maintain.

4. It requires a combination of patience, tolerance, compassion, diligence, wisdom and hope. These traits exist in us the Nigerian people. Because of who we are, democracy has the chance to flourish in this land.

5. Thus, I commend all of you for your patience and peaceful conduct so far during this electoral season and especially during this intervening week following the postponement of the February 16 elections.

6. Many were worried and thought the worst might happen. You proved them wrong by showing that you are a great people with an abiding love for peace, democracy and the unity of our country.

7. According to the daily INEC public briefings given this week, the Electoral Commission says it is
ready and fully prepared to conduct the election in a free, fair and transparent manner.

8. I believe INEC realises the profound and weighty duty that rests upon it.

9. We must cast aside doubt and have faith that INEC will rise to the occasion. We must believe and encourage INEC to fulfill and honour this responsibility it owes to our country.

10. As your President, I hereby ask all Nigerians with voting cards to participate in defining the future of our nation by exercising your democratic rights tomorrow. I urge you to go out and vote.

11. I say this because elections are the cornerstone of representative governance. And voting constitutes the highest and best expression of the sovereign will of the people to choose the
government that best represents them.

12. It is only upon the freely expressed will of the people that government truly dedicated to the welfare, rights and interests of the people can be founded.

13. Do not allow anyone to discourage you from the exercise of your rights as citizens and voters tomorrow.

14. To vote means that you believe in Nigeria and the excellent things the future holds for this nation and its people.

15. No matter our political leanings, we all believe in Nigeria, in the noble principles for which it stands and in the values we strive for our beloved nation to uphold.

16. All who are able, must vote so that we may better perfect this democracy and continue to build the greater nation we seek.

17. Do not be afraid of rumours of violence and unrest. Our security agencies have worked diligently to ensure that adequate security measures are in place.

18. You will be able to vote in an atmosphere of openness and peace, devoid of fear from threat or intimidation.

19. International and domestic monitors and observers are assured of their safety and freedom of movement needed to perform their important functions.

20. As we thank domestic monitors and observers for their contributions to our democracy, we also thank the international groups for the friendship and concern they have demonstrated to our nation.

21. We appreciate their efforts in encouraging us to further entrench and strengthen our democracy.

22. Tomorrow is an encounter with history in which you, the people, shall affirm your collective belief in our national greatness and in our future.

23. I ask that you embrace and hold on to the importance of the moment soon to be upon us.

24. Honour your civic duty as voters by going to the polls tomorrow to vote for the government of your choice, for the government that will lead Nigeria toward its finest destiny.

25. As citizens there is no greater duty than this and no greater honour. Tomorrow, I know you will once again make Nigeria proud of its people.

May God bless our democracy and forever bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Kendra Wilkinson's Divorce From Hank Finalized

Kendra Wilkinson is officially back on the market because the former playmate just finalized her divorce with ex-NFL star Hank Baskett.

Kendra and Hank filed documents in January signifying their marriage is not working and this time they got it right.

According to the documents, they will share joint custody of their 2 kids -- 9-year-old Hank IV and 4-year-old Alijah. They're also splitting most of their property right down the middle.

The ex-couple had two previous divorce settlements rejected by the court after making clerical errors in their filings.

Kendra and Hank got hitched back in 2009 at the Playboy Mansion with the late Hugh Hefner and her other 'Girls Next Door' castmates in attendance.

Kendra first filed for divorce back in April, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Right before the divorce filing, Kendra posted an emotional video of herself crying, confirming a split from Hank and saying she was frightened for the next step. That step is finally here!

Jussie's Story Has Me Dumbfounded- Jerry Springer

Jerry Springer says there's a simple solution Jussie Smollett could've pursued if he wanted a bump in salary from "Empire" brass -- get on the grind and lay off the alleged lies.

The famed daytime TV host who's obviously seen plenty of crazy scenarios told TMZ at LAX that Jussie's story truly has him dumbfounded.

He says he doesn't understand why Jussie might've done this, and in such an inflammatory way -- invoking racism, homophobia and politics at a time when the country is at a boiling point.

Chicago PD's superintendent said they believe Jussie orchestrated the staged attack because he was dissatisfied with his salary.

If that's indeed the case ... Jerry says Smollett should've put in some good old-fashioned hard work to get the dough he thinks he deserves.

As it stands, Jussie's career is hanging in the balance. Fox execs say they're "considering our options" when it comes to his continued role on the show.

Michael Jackson Estate Sues HBO For Planning To Air Abuse Of Victims By Late Singer

Michael Jackson's Estate has just sued HBO, claiming the network screwed them over after promising not to take shots at MJ which they did in the upcoming documentary, "Leaving Neverland" ... and the suit claims damages could exceed $100 million.

The Estate alleges HBO signed a contract that included a non-disparagement agreement with Jackson in 1992 when the network aired "Michael Jackson Live in Concert in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour."

In the contract, there was a non-disparagement provision, which includes this ... "HBO shall not make any disparaging remarks concerning Performer or any of his representatives, agents, or business practices or do any act that may harm or disparage or cause to lower in esteem the reputation or public image of performer."

As you know, "Leaving Neverland" showcases 2 accusers -- James Safechuck and Wade Robson -- who say MJ molested them when they were children. The Estate claims the 2 are perjurers with no credibility since they have testified under oath no such molestation occurred.

HBO responded to the lawsuit saying, "Despite the desperate lengths taken to undermine the film, our plans remain unchanged. HBO will move forward with the airing of LEAVING NEVERLAND, the two-part documentary, on March 3rd and 4th."

They continue, "This will allow everyone the opportunity to assess the film and the claims in it for themselves."

So Fast! Kylie Jenner Steps Out With Other Bestie

Kylie Jenner's already moving on from Jordyn Woods, and hanging with a different BFF.

Kylie stepped out yesterday for the first time since news broke Khloe was kicking Tristan to the curb for allegedly cheating... this time with her sister's BFF, Jordyn.

KJ was all bundled up and trying to cover her face next to her pal, Heather Sanders.

It's snowing in parts of L.A. right now, so, Kylie and Heather were definitely dressed for it out in Calabasas -- and they even recorded a video to commemorate the oddly chilly occasion.

As for Jordyn ... she's moving out of Kylie's pad and back into her mom's house for now.

It's unclear where exactly things stand between Kylie.

Don't Be Scared By Buhari's Order - PDP Tells Voters

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged voters not to be scared by what the party described as a shoot-on-sight directive against would-be ballot box snatchers, following a controversial statement by President Muhammadu Buhari had.

Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja yesterday, the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, urged Nigerians to be focused and refuse to be intimidated as they go out to cast their votes.

He described Buhari’s directive as a ploy to manipulate the elections.

Secondus said: “When the President threatened the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the elections were rescheduled, the intention was to frighten and cow them into playing along with the All Progressives Congress (APC) agenda.

“When they harass, arrest and block bank accounts of the opposition stakeholders, what they want is to win at all cost.

“When they drag military institutions into politics, the aim is obviously to destroy that institution the way they are doing to the legislature and the judiciary.

“But I urge you Nigerians to refuse to be intimidated or provoked but remain focused and fix your eyes on the ball, which is victory that is coming on Sunday.

The PDP chairman appealed to stakeholders in the election, particularly the INEC, security agencies and political party agents, to remember that the election is about Nigeria.

“This election is about rescuing this country. It’s about sustaining our democracy.”

Woman Caught Dumping Her Lover's Corpse Inside A Bush

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 45-year-old woman, Aderonke Ayinde, for allegedly dumping the corpse of her lover, Asimiu Abiodun, in the bush.

The suspect was reportedly caught by a neighbour, Makinde Ishola, while trying to dump the corpse of her lover, who had passed the night in her rented apartment, in the bush.

Abiodun was said to have died in the middle of the night at the suspect’s No. 1 Asalu Compound, Abeokuta, residence. The Police PRO in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

The PPRO said, “The arrest of the suspect followed a report lodged in the Oke-Itoku Police Station by one Makinde Ishola, who reported that he received information that a middle-aged man, whose name was later known as Asimiu Abiodun, came to visit the suspect at her No. 1 Asalu Compound, Abeokuta, residence.

“The said man died in the middle of the night in questionable circumstances.

“He (Ishola) stated further that the suspect took the dead body to a nearby bush that night and dumped it there, unknown to her that somebody nearby was observing the whole thing.”

Oyeyemi added, “On the strength of the report, the DPO, Oke-Itoku Division, SP Olatoye Kotonu, led detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested and the corpse evacuated to the mortuary for autopsy.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed that the deceased was her long time lover, who used to pass the night in her place, but on that fateful day, he came as usual, but suddenly developed a strange illness in the night and before she could call for help, the man died.“She further stated that she decided to dispose of the body out of fear.”

The family of the deceased, according to Oyeyemi, has been contacted by the police for proper identification.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had directed the homicide section of the State CIID to take over the case for proper investigation and possible prosecution of the woman.

Atiku To Nigerians: Vote Out Incumbent President Like In 2015

The presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar has urged Nigerians to come out on Saturday and vote out President Muhammadu Buhari the same way they voted against an incumbent on March 28, 2015.

Buhari in 2015 defeated Goodluck Jonathan, who was the incumbent President.

Atiku made the call in a video broadcast which was posted on his official Twitter handle.

The former vice-president described election day as a day when all Nigerians are equal, saying all votes carry the same impact.

He, therefore, asked Nigerians to choose if they wanted their lives to remain the same way it had been in the last four years or they wanted something better.

The former Vice-President urged Nigerians to come and vote even if they would not be voting for his party, the PDP, adding that the worst thing a citizen could do was to ignore such an important civic obligation.

Atiku said, “Dear citizens of Nigeria, as you know, this Saturday, we are having the presidential and National Assembly elections. The reason we have elections every four years is to allow us to have our voices heard on how we have been governed in the last four years and who will govern us for the next four years.

“On March 28, 2015, we the people of Nigeria went to our polling units and only with our PVCs and yet we were able to remove an incumbent President from office. That made me very proud to be a Nigerian and very proud to be a democrat.

“This Saturday, we will have the opportunity of doing so again. My message to you is simple: please come out and vote as this election is about your future and the future of our great nation. On election day, we are all equal as no single vote is more important than the other.

“But if you do not vote, you will be accepting that the next four years will be like the last. The power to get Nigeria working again is in your permanent voter cards.

“I will be voting with mine on Saturday and I call on you to please join me, irrespective of who you wish to vote for.”

We Don't Know Where El-Rufai Got Death Figures, We Don't Have Figures Yet - Commissioner of Police

48 hours after Governor Nasir El-Rufai put the figure at 130, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdulrahman has distanced himself from the governor's action, saying that the casualty figures of Kajuru killings is yet to be ascertained.

The police commissioner while briefing newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday, however, warned nobody would stampede investigations on the killings, adding that, “figures in a crisis of this magnitude should be left until all investigations have been concluded."

According to him, “You cannot come up to quote a figure and you will say again later you will have to come and say it again. As far as the police is concerned, we are investigating, the investigation is still in embrayoic stage.

“So you can see that there is no reason for anyone to say this one said this figure and that one said another figure.

“That was why the number of casualty during the Kasuwan Magani varies between SEMA and police. Police said 55 bodies were recovered and SEMA said seventy something.

“My friends in media asked about the variation and I said the variation must be there because we the police are quenching the fire and making arrest of suspects and so. What we saw is what we will now say.”

Tearful Jussie Smollett Apologizes To Empire Cast But Insists He Never Did It

A tearful Jussie Smollett apologized to fellow cast and crew members before filming continued Thursday on the set of “Empire” in Chicago.

Citing “sources on the ‘Empire’ set,” celebrity-news site TMZ said that the crew was kept waiting 30 minutes for Mr. Smollett to return from his arrest and processing on charges of faking a hate-crime and blaming President Trump’s supporters.

He gave a short address to everyone on set in which he also maintained his innocence.

“I’m sorry I’ve put you all through this and not answered any calls. I wanted to say I’m sorry and, you know me, I would never do this to any of you, you are my family. I swear to God, I did not do this,” Mr. Smollett said, according to TMZ.

He then left the set and, TMZ reported, “it was obvious Jussie had been crying a lot,” which further delayed filming.

Producers had to ask him to come back later, and he was able to do so, TMZ said.
