Three Nabbed For Planning To Kidnap Lagos Businessman For N60m Ransom

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Sunday Nwankwo and two employees of an oil and gas merchant, Aguizu Chukwu, 19, and Tunde Olaewo, 21, for allegedly planning to kidnap their boss, one Solomon Otungo, in the Ejigbo area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Mu’azu, said at a press briefing, on Thursday, that the command mobilised operatives to arrest the suspects at their meeting point, after it received credible intelligence about the alleged plan to kidnap the oil and gas merchant.

He added that the suspects confessed to the crime and said they would have demanded a ransom of N60m from Otungo if their plan had succeeded.


Mu’azu said, “The police received credible intelligence report that some newly-employed workers of one Solomon Otungo, an oil and gas merchant in the Bucknor area of Ejigbo, Lagos, were holding nocturnal meetings on how they would kidnap and keep their employer incommunicado until a ransom of N60m was paid.

“Based on the information, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ejigbo Police Station, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, mobilised police detectives and stormed the venue of the meeting, where Aguizu Chukwu, 19, and Tunde Olaewo, 21, were rounded up and brought to the station.

“The confessional statements of the suspects led to the arrest of one Sunday Nwankwo in the Isolo area of the state. The suspects have confessed to the crime and added that had their plan succeeded, they would have demanded N60m ransom from the businessman’s family.”

The CP added that the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.

Woman Caught Dumping Lover’s Corpse In Ogun Bush... She's Pictured

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 45-year-old woman, Aderonke Ayinde, for allegedly dumping the corpse of her lover, Asimiu Abiodun, in the bush.

The suspect was reportedly caught by a neighbour, Makinde Ishola, while trying to dump the corpse of her lover, who had passed the night in her rented apartment, in the bush.

Abiodun was said to have died in the middle of the night at the suspect’s No. 1 Asalu Compound, Abeokuta, residence.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to Punch Metro.


The PPRO said, “The arrest of the suspect followed a report lodged in the Oke-Itoku Police Station by one Makinde Ishola, who reported that he received information that a middle-aged man, whose name was later known as Asimiu Abiodun, came to visit the suspect at her No. 1 Asalu Compound, Abeokuta, residence.

“The said man died in the middle of the night in questionable circumstances.

“He (Ishola) stated further that the suspect took the dead body to a nearby bush that night and dumped it there, unknown to her that somebody nearby was observing the whole thing.”

Oyeyemi added, “On the strength of the report, the DPO, Oke-Itoku Division, SP Olatoye Kotonu, led detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested and the corpse evacuated to the mortuary for autopsy.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed that the deceased was her long time lover, who used to pass the night in her place, but on that fateful day, he came as usual, but suddenly developed a strange illness in the night and before she could call for help, the man died.

“She further stated that she decided to dispose of the body out of fear.”

Tearful Jussie Smollett Apologizes To Empire Cast But Insists He Never Did It

A tearful Jussie Smollett apologized to fellow cast and crew members before filming continued Thursday on the set of “Empire” in Chicago.

Citing “sources on the ‘Empire’ set,” celebrity-news site TMZ said that the crew was kept waiting 30 minutes for Mr. Smollett to return from his arrest and processing on charges of faking a hate-crime and blaming President Trump’s supporters.

He gave a short address to everyone on set in which he also maintained his innocence.


“I’m sorry I’ve put you all through this and not answered any calls. I wanted to say I’m sorry and, you know me, I would never do this to any of you, you are my family. I swear to God, I did not do this,” Mr. Smollett said, according to TMZ.

He then left the set and, TMZ reported, “it was obvious Jussie had been crying a lot,” which further delayed filming.

Producers had to ask him to come back later, and he was able to do so, TMZ said.

The woman claims her new husband kept it a secret until they were on their honeymoon by saying he didn't agree with sex before marriage.

She felt he had lied and tricked her, so decided to share the story on Reddit to get some advice.

But her husband found the post and is now terrified somebody will work out it's about him, so is threatening to divorce and sue her.


She posted an update on the website, explaining that he saw the post after it went viral and somebody shared it on Facebook .

She writes: "My husband saw my post and says he wants to leave me and sue me? Says he wants an annulment and is considering suing me for defamation of character.

"He says it's only a matter of time before someone leaks his name.


"He saw the post through an old friend of his who knew he had a micropenis and saw on his FB that he had just gotten married.

"He doesn't know who else the guy has told to link him to it. I feel like I am the a******. He is crushed that I posted about him."

She also reveals that she finally confronted him about the micropenis, asking why he didn't tell her earlier.

She wrote: "I confronted him last week about intentionally keeping this from me and he said he was sure I would leave him if I knew about the size prior to the wedding.

"And that he wanted to talk before the wedding but feared it being called off because of his micropenis and said if both families found out/gossiped about it he would be crushed.

"Which is basically what I did with the entire world via reddit, but he didn't know this until last night because I never told him that I posted on reddit when we talked."

The woman's second post had mixed reactions from other users.

Many still had no sympathy for the man, claiming it was his fault for not being open about it in the first place.

One commented: "I usually would feel bad for the person in this situation, in fact I do understand his want to not become two families laughing stalk, but he still tricked this woman into marrying him while withhold information he knew would effect her decision."

Another added: "Now that you know he intentionally hid it from you, the best thing for you to do would be to leave him. He tried to trap you into marriage without telling you something that is honestly very important. There’s no limit to what else he will hide from you to manipulate you. Seek the annulment yourself and talk to a lawyer, even though I don’t think he has any grounds for a defamation lawsuit."

But others felt sorry for him, and many pointed out he would probably see her second message as well.

10 Things You Need To Know About The Presidential Election

Millions of Nigerians will be going to the polls for the presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday, to elect leaders of their choice for President, Senate and House of Reps.

Here are basic things to know regarding the elections:

VOTING TIME:
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), polling stations will open for accreditation and voting from 8am to 2pm. However, voters in the queue before the close of poll at 2pm will be accredited and allowed to vote.

Unlike in the past when voting is usually delayed, in some cases till 12pm, each voter will vote immediately he or she is accredited.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE VOTING PROCESS?
Any prospective voter must be a Nigerian citizen, be 18 years and above, possess a permanent voter card (PVC) and be in the voter register where he/she is assigned to vote

WHERE TO VOTE:
INEC says no one will be allowed to vote at a polling unit other than the one where he/she registered and got accredited.

THE ACCREDITATION PROCEDURE:
The accreditation process shall comprise reading of the permanent voter’s card (PVC) and authentication of the voter’s fingerprint using the SCR; checking of the Register of Voters and inking of the cuticle of the specified finger of the voter.

THE VOTING PROCEDURE:
Upon being accredited, an INEC official will confirm if your PVC is genuine using the card reader and that you are listed in the voters register. Your name will be ticked and your finger will be inked; the presiding officer will stamp, sign and endorse your ballot paper after which you stain your finger with the ink given and mark the box for your preferred candidate/party. You will then roll the ballot paper and leave the voting cubicle to drop the ballot paper in the ballot box.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTERWARDS?
You can choose to leave the polling unit or decide to stay back, but peacefully, to watch the whole process up till the collation of results.

ON THE USE OF PHONES:
INEC banned the use of phones at the voting cubicles. So while you have your phone within the polling unit, you must put it away when you get to the voting booth. This is to curb vote buying.

ON THE USE OF SMART CARD READERS:
INEC is insisting on the use of card readers to vote. The commission had said in the case where a smart card reader malfunctions, voting will be suspended till a new card reader arrives, or postponed till the next day if a replacement is not available by 2pm.

ANY CHANCE THEY COULD BE MANIPULATED?
INEC said the card readers are configured to specific polling units and only open for use at 8am on election day and automatically shut down by 10 pm “in order to forestall any illegal use before the appointed time of elections.”

WHEN A REGISTERED VOTER CANNOT VOTE:
In its election guidelines, INEC listed some cases where a voter is not eligible to vote in a particular polling unit, even though they may be in possession of a PVC.

The Cable reports that, according to the guidelines, “where a voter’s PVC is read but the name of the voter is not on the Register of Voters, APO II shall refer the voter to the PO or APO (VP) who shall politely request the voter to leave the Polling Unit.

“(d) In the event that the PVC fails to be read by the Smart Card Reader, the APO I shall refer the voter to the PO or APO (VP) who shall politely request the voter to leave the Polling Unit.

“Any person who presents the PVC of another person with an intention to use it to vote, shall not be allowed to vote and may be liable to arrest and prosecution.”

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday received members of the Forum of Presidential Candidates & Political Parties for Good Governance, who decided to subordinate their ambitions for the All Progressives Congress candidate.

Atiku Gets Big Boost; Parties Declare Him The Best Option

Opposition political parties on Thursday said the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, remained the only option available to Nigerians in tomorrow's very important election.

They have therefore called on all Nigerians to vote for Atiku.

The call was contained in an end of campaign message made available to journalists by the national spokesman for the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Ikenga Ugochinyere.

Jussie Smollett Is Given $100k Bail & Ordered To Surrender His Passport

Jussie Smollett's bail has been set at $100,000 and he was ordered to surrender his passport at a bond hearing where he was supported by his family and prosecutors shared more details of his relationship with the two Nigerian brothers he allegedly paid to stage a hoax attack.

Three of the actor's five famous siblings, Jurnee, Jocqui and Jake, were pictured arriving at the Cook County Criminal Court before his bond hearing wearing sunglasses. They were later joined by their brother Jojo but their other sister Jurnee and mother Janet were not seen.

A judge set the actor's bail at $100,000 - the amount he gets paid for one episode of Empire - and told him to surrender his passport. It is unclear how much he will be required to pay of it but defendants are ordinarily required to pay at least 10 percent of their total bail amount. Smollett will return to court on March 14.


After the hearing, prosecutors gave a detailed description of how he put the hoax together.

Police say he knew Abel Osundairo, the older brother, because he bought 'designer drugs' from him. In text messages, he asked Abel for 'Molly' - the street name for ecstasy.

On January 25, he convinced Abel and his brother Ola to 'simulate' an attack on him, giving them specific instructions about which words to use and how to rough him up but not hurt him too severely.

He knew they were going to Nigeria days later and asked them if he could trust them, saying in his initial text message to Abel: 'Might need your help on the low. You around to meet up and talk face to face?'

Smollett took them to the location where he wanted the attack to happen outside his apartment, according to prosecutors, and even pointed to a surveillance camera he believed would capture it.

The claims came after a blistering press conference during which furious police bosses alleged that he mailed himself a threatening letter then staged a hoax attack because he was unhappy with his $1.8million Empire salary.

Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson abhorred him as a 'troubled young man' who has 'taken advantage of the pain and anger of racism to further his career' by allegedly lying that he was attacked by racist and homophobic assailants on January 29.

Jussie Smollett turned himself in and was booked by Chicago PD early Thursday morning under a felony charge for filing a false police report; following claims he made about being attacked by racist, homophobic, MAGA supporters.

The response to his indictment, following weeks of media attention on what was first believed to be a hate crime, took over social media with many celebrities -- and POTUS -- weighing in on the situation.
