Florida prosecutors on Monday confirmed they will charge New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft with soliciting prostitution at a local spa, and issue a summons for his arrest.
One of the two incidents that prosecutors are charging Kraft for occurred in Jupiter, Fla., with a woman on the morning of Jan. 20 — hours before the Patriots defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Missouri in the AFC Championship, according to a charging document.
A day before that, police said, Kraft paid two women at the spa for an encounter, for which he has also been charged.
The 77-year-old Kraft, whose football team won a record-tying sixth Super Bowl earlier this month, faces a possible sentence of up to one year in jail if convicted of the two misdemeanor charges.
The billionaire also faces a $5,000 fine, 100 hours of community service and attending a class in the dangers of human trafficking — all of which are mandatory. He is due to be arraigned in Palm Beach County Court on April 24.
Kraft is not in custody, but "his attorney has been provided the summons," said Palm Beach County State's Attorney David Aronberg at a press conference.
Kraft through a spokesman has denied the allegations.
Eighteen persons, including Rafiu Ibrahim, the senator representing Kwara South, were on Monday docked before an Ilorin Chief Magistrates’ Court over the February 19 pre-election violence in Ojoku, Kwara in which one person was killed.
While Mr Ibrahim and eight others facing four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance of public peace and causing grievous hurt were granted bail, nine others facing culpable homicide were remanded in prison.
Those granted bail along with Mr Ibrahim (PDP-Kwara South) were Soliu Abdulazeez, Adigun Taofeeq, Wasiu Toheed, Garuba Mustapha, Kubura Wahab, Magaji Bashiru, Fatai Jamiu and Sherif Adisa all of Ojoku town, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara.
Chief Magistrate Jubril Salihu granted the defendants N500, 000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.
Earlier, Kwara State Prosecutor, Aderemi Ajibola told the court that on February 19, the APC Senatorial candidate, Lola Ashiru and his campaign team, were attacked on their way out of the palace of Olojoku of Ojoku, Oba Abdulrazaq, by some unknown youths.
He said during the attack, several gunshots were fired at the campaign team, resulting into killing of one Samuel Abidemi Adeosun, while several other people sustained injuries.
“Several vehicles in the campaign team were also damaged,” he said.
Mr Ajibola said police investigation led to the arrest of Mr Ibrahim, the PDP senatorial candidate, who is an indigene of the community and suspected to have incited the said attack on his political opponent.
“Further investigation also led to the arrest of one Kubura Wahab, PDP Women leader in Ojoku, who allegedly harboured three of the accused persons, who allegedly participated in the attack
“Another development discreet investigation also led to the arrest of the remaining four accused persons with suspected gunshot injuries believed to have been sustained at the scene of the crime,” he said.
Mr Ajibola said the offences contravened provisions of Sections 97, 114, 327 and 247 of Penal Code, adding that investigation is still ongoing towards arresting other suspects at large.
In his bail application, R. Gold, counsel to Mr Ibrahim and eight other defendants, said there was no concrete evidence that showed that the accused persons were guilty as charged.
Gold said that the first accused, Mr Ibrahim, was not at the scene of the crime and had not been found guilty in any way, while the third to ninth accused persons were arrested in the house of the second accused without any proof.
The case was adjourned until March 28, for mention.

R. Kelly is a free man again -- it was total pandemonium as he walked out of jail and he'll have to pay off a 6-figure child support tab almost immediately if he wants to avoid getting locked up again.
Kelly's $100k bond -- 10% of his $1 million bail was finally posted Monday after he appeared in court and entered a not guilty to plea to all 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse. As he walked out of jail, wearing his blue down coat, Kelly was swarmed by photogs and reporters.
There also seemed to be a number of protesters yelling at Kelly, calling him a pedophile and asking how he'd feel if someone urinated on his daughter.
He however made is way straight to McDonald's for some quick eats.
Although Kelly's out, he's staring down another deadline. TMZ broke the story he has to pay about $160k in back child support to his ex-wife, Drea Kelly, by March 6. If he doesn't, it's right back to County lockup.
The Kelly sources say he plans to make arrangements to pay the child support by next week, so he can focus on his criminal defense and avoid jail.

A young businessman’s £125,000 gold Lamborghini exploded just an hour after picking it up from the garage.
Lak Sira, 22, said he was nearly killed after his "pride and joy" went up in smoke as he drove along the M6 with his girlfriend.
The entrepreneur had been on his way to London when he smelt petrol and was forced to pull over on the hard shoulder near Birmingham.
He then jumped from the gold chrome-plated Gallardo after hearing a loud bang and watched helplessly as the back of luxury vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Shocking pictures show the flaming wreckage as well as the blackened remains of the gutted vehicle after fire crews had extinguished the blaze last Friday.
The self-made businessman said he had paid £10,000 for a service and picked it up from Lamborghini Birmingham when it burst into flames just an hour later.
Lak, who earns £200,000 a year running an online trading company, has blamed the garage's negligence and said he is looking at taking legal action against the dealership.
He said: "We had only gone one junction when my girlfriend smelt petrol in the car, so I called the garage's mechanic.
"He said 'the car has just been for a service and it is usual to smell a bit of fuel', so there wasn't a problem.
"So we carried on a bit further and my girlfriend asked me to open the windows, because the smell of fuel had got that strong.
"I stopped on the hard shoulder to remove the roof but then the next thing was we heard a loud bang, it was like a firework going off, and the back of my car caught fire.
"I just had to watch helplessly as the car which I had worked so hard to buy went up in smoke.
"We nearly died, if I didn't pull over when I did I dread to think what happened. It was very frightening and my girlfriend is scared to get in any car with me now.
"I am meeting with my solicitor to see whether to take legal action as I can't believe it’s a coincidence that I'd only just had the car back from the garage.
Lak, from Birmingham, added: "I'm absolutely devastated. I only had the car for a year and a half and I loved it.
“I paid £12,000 to get it gold plated and £10,000 on the service - and then this happens.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected results of the presidential elections being announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Uche Secondus, PDP national chairman, said the results being announced at the national collation center are incorrect.
He said so far, the party discovered “irregularities” in the
results announced from Nasarawa state and the federal capital territory (FCT). He alleged that the current administration colluded with INEC and security agencies to manipulate results from polling units across the country.
“Our collation centres have the original results from all the polling units in the country. That is from where we are going to reclaim our results,” he said.
“The results are incorrect and unacceptable to our party. Officials of the APC working with INEC have decided to alter results to affect our people. This must now be resisted by every well-meaning Nigerian.
“INEC must live up to its responsibility. They are under pressure. We have the facts and when the time comes, we begin to release them.”
Secondus added the PDP would update Nigerians “as time goes on” regarding their decisions in other states yet to be announced. He alleged that the APC colluded with INEC through “aggressive steps mostly through inducements, manipulations and using state power including the security agencies to silence the voices of our long-suffering people.”
“The ruling party and Buhari dispatched high ranking officials to influence outcomes of the exercise to meet with INEC resident electoral commissions,” he said.
“They tampered with results from some polling units across the country. The minister of interior was deployed to north-west while the secretary to the government of the federation was sent to south-east and south-south.”
The PDP national chairman said the party is “on course to victory at the presidency”, adding: “We appeal to INEC chairman to remain impartial because the world is watching and history will indeed pass judgement.”

Former senate minority leader Godswill Akpabio has joined the league of top politicians who have lost their bid to go or return to the senate. Akpabio, the APC candidate in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, secured just 67,487 as against 136,373 votes pulled by Chris Ekpenyong of the PDP.

A former Deputy Governor during OBJ era
In 2005, Chris Ekpenyong made history in Nigeria: he was impeached as the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom state but was hurriedly returned to that position in less than seven days. The members of the state house of assembly reversed the impeachment after the intervention of then-President Olusegun Obasanjo, although Ekpenyong was forced to resign afterwards.
Fourteen years later, he has bounced back to secure a place at the senate, defeating Godswill Akpabio, an “uncommon senator”, in Akwa Ibom north-west senatorial district. Akpabio’s defeat was shocking to say the least: Apart from being being an incumbent senator, he was a two-time governor who practically had Akwa Ibom as his chessboard.
And – you wouldn’t believe – Ekpenyong defeated him with more than double his votes, after securing 136,373 votes as against Akpabio’s 67,487. Political surprises in the 2019 general elections.
This woman has left many people in a state of utter shock. A mother allegedly faked a doctors report and presented at her daughters' school so they could get a day off, then she drove them into the woods and killed them before turning the gun on herself outside her boyfriend’s house.
Abrianne Moore, 28, allegedly killed Alaina Rau, 2, Cassidy Rodery, 6, and Kyrie Rodery, 8, with a hunting rifle. She lured them out of the car one by one in woods behind their great-grandparents’ home in Kent County, Michigan, then shot them.
After shooting them, their bodies were put into the back of her car and she drove to the home of her baby daddy - Kyrie’s father – where she killed herself in a suspected murder-suicide.
He returned nearly two hours later and found the bodies last Monday.
Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young said:
"We don’t know what was going through her head, she didn’t leave a suicide note or anything like that. Mom appears to have been struggling with pretty substantial mental health issues.
"She had some postings on Facebook and things like that that lead to believe she was paranoid and thought that the kids were in jeopardy somehow. We suspect that led to the events this day."
A social worker said Moore had previously kept her children off school because she believed the TV was giving her messages that their bus would be involved in an accident. She was hospitalised for 10 days last September.
LaJoye-Young added: "This is one of the hardest cases I’ve ever heard about. This is a very difficult case. Our investigators are feeling it. It’s heartbreaking that something like this happened in our community.
"I’m heartbroken for the family and for everybody involved and the community at large, because this is not something that’s easy for us to not wonder what could have been done differently, what could we have done to help."
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday started the announcement of the results of Saturday’s presidential election.
As of the time of filing this report, INEC had announced the result in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The states are Ondo, Ekiti, Gombe, Kwara, Kogi, Yobe, Abia, Osun, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Enugu and the Federal Capital Territory.
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari, won in Ekiti, Nasarawa, Yobe, Kwara, Kogi and Gombe, while his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, won in Ondo, Abia, Ebonyi and the FCT.
Senate president Bukola Saraki, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, has dissociated the Saraki camp from a message being shared on WhatsApp which states that the PDP and Saraki have congratulated the APC and its candidates in Kwara.
Saraki lost to Dr Yahaya Oloriegbe of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Saturday’s Senatorial election. Oloriegbe polled a total of 123,808 votes to defeat the Senate President who scored 68,994 votes in the four local governments of Kwara Central Senatorial District.
In the statement released on Monday, Olaniyonu further stated that the position of the Saraki camp will be communicated to the public later.
“The public should disregard any fictitious statements being issued and shared on WhatsApp by the APC in Kwara. Our position on the election will be communicated later today.
“In the interim, the APC should stop issuing statements congratulating itself and ascribing it to our camp.”
A teenager throttled and raped a 10-year-old girl on his way home from school before leaving her for dead in a stream, a court heard.
The boy, then 16, pounced on the girl when she was just 300 yards from her home, jurors were told.
The victim's worried mum texted her "where are you?" when she was late home from school.
But minutes later she got a knock at the door from a passer-by who had found the girl wet, muddy and barely conscious, lying in the stream with her underwear pulled down.
The teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has already pleaded guilty to choking and sexually assaulting the little girl but he denies rape and attempted murder.
He also denies he intended to choke her unconscious so he could rape her.
Bristol Crown Court heard the boy, now 17, left school on his bike and pounced on the girl on his way home in Exmouth, Devon, on October 4, 2018.
Anna Vigars QC, prosecuting, said: "He took hold of her from behind - around her throat - wrapping his arm around her neck and squeezing hard."
He then dragged her down the bank and raped her, the court heard.
The jury was shown a police interview with the victim in which she described how she pretended to be dead during the attack.
She said: "I got my phone out to call and say I'll be home in a minute and that's when someone ran up to me and grabbed me.
"I was worried that I didn't have enough oxygen and I might die.
"He was doing it tighter and tighter. I couldn't speak because my mouth was really swollen.
"At first I tried pretending like I died or something - I flopped down and I had my eyes shut - I though at that point he might have just left - but then I really did fade away."
She described coming to and calling out for one of her teachers to help her.
A passing member of public heard her cries and came to her rescue, while another asked her where she lived and alerted her mum.
The boy got home late and his family noticed he was "sweating profusely", Ms Vigars said.
"He said something about having fallen off his bike and went upstairs to change out of his muddy clothes," she continued.
The court heard his family noticed his "unusual behaviour" over dinner and after hearing about the incident the following day they examined his muddy clothes before calling the police.
Forensic examinations found the boy's DNA on the victims genitalia and underwear as well as her DNA on him.
She also had injuries to her privates.
The boy maintains he did not rape the child or intentionally cause her to lose consciousness but he does admit strangling her and then sexually assaulting her while she was unconscious.
He pleaded not guilty to one charge of attempted murder, one charge of choking the girl with the intent to commit rape and one charge of rape of a child under 13.
He admits two counts; that he did take hold of her in an attempt to choke her but the intent was sexual rather than, and not rape, which he also denies.
An interim report into the tragic Emiliano Sala plane crash has suggested that David Ibbotson might 'not have been qualified' to have piloted the flight - and the Piper Malibu aircraft may not have had the correct permissions to make the journey.
Striker Sala died while flying between Nantes, France, and Cardiff following his £15million move to the Premier League club.
The plane crashed into the English Channel on January 21, sparking an operation to find the wreckage and the remains of the two people on board - with Sala's body identified while Ibbotson is still missing.
A report released by the air accident investigation branch on Monday suggested that Ibbotson might not have had the appropriate licence to fly the plane.
The report also suggested that the single-engine Piper Malibu plane, made in 1984 and had flown 6,636 hours, did not have permission to make the journey.
The report also gave further details of the last moments of Sala and Ibbotson.
It said that the aircraft took off and initially climbed to 5,500 ft. Later, the pilot requested a descent to remain in 'Visual Meteorological Conditions'.
It reads: "The last radio contact with the aircraft was with Jersey Radar at 2012 hrs, when the pilot asked for a further descent.
"The aircraft’s last recorded secondary radar point was at 2016:34 hrs... The wreckage of N264DB was subsequently found on the seabed about 30 metres from the position of the last secondary radar point recorded by the radar at Guernsey."
