Ed Sheeran & Cherry Seaborn Are Reportedly Married

Ed Sheeran has 'married his fiancée Cherry Seaborn in a low-key Suffolk ceremony'.

The Shape Of You hitmaker, 28, tied the knot with his childhood friend, 26, just before Christmas, in a ceremony which saw just 40 close friends and family in attendance, according to The Sun but the news is only just reaching us.

This comes just a year after Ed had denied that he and Cherry had tied the knot, after he was questioned about a new ring that had appeared on his wedding finger.

A source said: 'Ed got married a few days before Christmas. It was very quiet – just Ed's oldest school pals, limited family and the priest.

'There were only 40 people – so no Taylor Swift, record company executives or any royals or pop star pals. He wanted no fuss and he wanted it to be something entirely for them – just a tiny winter wedding.

'Neither of them were that fussed about making a big deal about it. Cherry just wanted to get it out of the way without any problems or intrusions,' the source added.

The incumbent Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, also emerged as the senator-elect for the Imo West amidst controversies.

Zamfara Governorship Candidate EJECTS IDPs For Voting Buhari

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Zamfara State, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi, on Wednesday confirmed that he has ejected all displaced persons taking shelter in his houses in Shinkafi for voting for the All Progressives Congress in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Shinkafi confirmed in Gusau at a news conference organized by a coalition of some political parties in the state protesting against the elections.

“I have asked all the IDPs residing in my Shinkafi houses to immediately pack out because they are not serious in life.

“These are people who had to leave their villages due to insecurity caused by a government that could not provide such basic necessity to them, yet they went and sold their votes at the last elections trying to bring back the same gang,” he claimed.

According to him, in spite of earlier advice to the displaced persons “to vote out those who failed them in the past years”, they still did.

He claimed that the Internally Displaced Persons allowed themselves to be bought over during the election by “the people who failed them.”

Shinkafi said the coalition would not support the Resident Electoral Commissioner and all security chiefs in the state to handle the March 9, governorship and state assembly elections.

“This is because we have no confidence in them and their ability to be fair and just to us,” the APGA governorship candidate added.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the coalition is comprised of the PDP, APGA, ACCORD, NRM, APP, ADC, NPP, DPP and YPP.

Christian Pilgrims Board Boss Arraigned For Stealing

The Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Jinga Mayo, has been arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for embezzling funds meant for the committee members of the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Board.

A statement by the spokesperson for the ICPC, Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, said Mayo was arraigned before Justice Nathan Musa of the High Court 1 in Yola on three counts bordering on stealing.

He was charged for making a false claim on the sum of N69.2m he received to pay the committee members for the 2016 pilgrimage to Israel.

The ICPC said while Mayo did not pay the money to the committee members, he allegedly returned duly signed payment vouchers and acknowledgement receipts supposedly by each member of the committee.

The commission said the action was contrary to and punishable under Section 16 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

The court adjourned the case till March 5 and 6, 2019, for the commencement of trial.

Lobatan! Tinubu Reaches Out To Akala To Win Oyo

An All Progressives Congress stalwart, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and a former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, have met over possible partnership ahead of the governorship election in Oyo State on March 9, The Punch reports.

Alao-Akala, who is running for governor on the platform of the Action Democratic Party, confirmed this to Punch correspondents on Wednesday.

He, however, asked The Punch to give him 24 hours to make a formal statement.

“It is true. Both of us have been meeting and we will continue to meet. I will call you in 24 hours to let you know the state of things,” he said.

Top sources close to the two politicians told Punch correspondents that Tinubu initiated the meeting after the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, won the presidential election in the state.

A PDP candidate, Dr Kola Balogun defeated Governor Abiola Ajimobi who contested the Oyo-South senatorial election.

A source close to Tinubu said Ajimobi’s defeat showed that the people of Oyo State could vote against the APC candidate, Adebayo Adelabu.

The source said, “Tinubu and Alao-Akala met on Tuesday. Tinubu asked Alao-Akala, who has many supporters in Ogbomoso, to collapse his structure into that of Adelabu. We know that if Alao-Akala was in our camp, there was no way Atiku would have had such a good outing in Oyo State, especially Ogbomoso.

“The PDP governorship candidate, Seyi Makinde, is popular and he is also an Ibadan guy like Adelabu, which means that they will both split the votes in Ibadan. The APC will need to forge an alliance with elements in Ogbomoso to get an advantage.”

When asked why the APC did not forge an alliance with Alao-Akala before now, the source said they would have done so but Governor Ajimobi told them that there was no need to worry.

Oshiomhole Talks Tough: It's Over For Saraki Politically

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole on Wednesday mocked Senate president Bukola Saraki for losing his re-election bid in Kwara State.

He said though the ruling party had been planning to impeach the Senate President, it was better his constituents retired him politically from the Red Chamber.

Apparently referring to Saraki, Oshiomhole said:
“People who came to the senate with less than a 100,000 votes and began to hold the country to ransom, their own people have recalled them home.

“While we were saying that we will impeach them, their people said they would rather bury them politically. Now, they are out. It shows the power of democracy, it’s a leveler, an equalizer. You cannot be bigger than the people. Our people say that a politician is likened to an Okro tree. It should never grow taller than the person who planted it.

“And those who plant the political okro tree are the Nigerian people. I think, a couple of lessons have been learnt. This game is for those who are humble, those who believe in the people. There are no dynasties, the people are the sovereign.

“When they borrow you the power, remember, it is only lend to you, and it will expire, and it will require renewal. If you don’t behave, thy will remove you.”

Oshiomhole who lost his state to PDP, spoke with State House correspondents at the Villa, Abuja, after congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari who was declared winner by INEC.

WOW! See The Smallest Baby Boy Ever To Be Born... weighing just 0.4kg (Photos)

The world's smallest surviving baby ever has finally been allowed to return home after spending six months in hospital. The teeny newborn - who hasn't yet been named - was born last August weighing 0.59lbs - less than a block of butter.

The cute boy was born via emergency c-section at the
Keio University Hospital in Tokyo after doctors noticed that he wasn't growing during a 24-week scan. They decided to operate for fear that his life might be in danger.

The baby, who could fit into his doctors' hands, was treated at a neonatal intensive care unit where medics got his weight up to 7.14lbs (3.2kg).

The Sun UK reports that last Wednesday, he finally left hospital - two months after his actual due date. The little boy was kept in hospital where his weight and breathing could be monitored, and where he eventually got the strength up to start breastfeeding.
The paediatricians who treated the baby are hoping that his incredible success story will give hope to parents whose children are born very prematurely or too small to go home immediately.

"I want people to know that babies can return home vigorous even if they are born small," Dr Takeshi Arimitsu told Kyodo News.

This little baby takes the crown for the smallest baby in the world from the previous record-holders in Germany.

DAILY INSPIRATION FOR POSITIVE LIVING

Saraki Reveals How He Was Defeated

Senate president Bukola Saraki has revealed how he lost his third term re-election bid to the chamber. He said inadequacies, including Card Readers not used in over 70 percent of his polling units, multiple voting, over-voting and other discrepancies, aided his defeat.

He stated that in spite of the reported inadequacies that attended the presidential and National Assembly elections in Kwara State, he wishes the candidates who emerged from the election the best of luck.

Saraki, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, stated that while the election was generally peaceful, he still had issues with the outcome.

He added that the state chapter of his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), will take a position on the right response to these inadequacies.

“However, whatever the final outcome of the election, I wish the candidates that have emerged all the best in their attempts to serve our people. It is my prayers that the good people of Kwara state will always have the best from any government both at state and federal levels.

“As a product of a family and a political structure that is, from its foundation, devoted to the service and development of our state and its people, it is my wish that our people will always have a good deal at all times. The new development will even provide the people the opportunity to compare and contrast. After all, the people who have emerged from last Saturday’s election are not my enemies. They are fellow Kwarans.

“As we prepare for the March 9, governorship and House of Assembly elections, let me reiterate my position that the candidates of the PDP in the election represent the best materials for our dear state, Kwara.

“Therefore, I enjoin our people to come out en mass on election day and vote for them. I am going to work with our party leaders to further sell the PDP candidates to the public.

“I thank all Nigerians for their goodwill and to enjoin all of us that as we patiently await the outcome of the Presidential election, we pray for peace, unity and genuine development in our country. It is also our prayers that, at all times, the wish of the people would always prevail in the choice of the leadership and the electorate will always enjoy the benefit of good governance,” Saraki stated.

Married Woman Kills Her Neigbour... You Won't Believe Why

A 27-year-old woman, Glory Uchenna, has found herself in serious trouble. She has been remanded in prison custody by a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for allegedly stabbing her neighbour to death.

It was gathered that Uchenna, a housewife and mother of one, allegedly stabbed Imoh Cletus, her neighbour, in the back with a kitchen knife. She killed her for "trespass".

The document reads: “The only problem we had was that anytime she wanted to bath, she must look into our room. I have warned her several times, but she continued doing so.”

She allegedly committed the offence on February 7, about 3:30pm, at Elikpokwudu, Rukpokwu in Obio/Akpor Local Government. The one-count charge of murder was not read to her; hence she did not take any plea. She was not represented by any lawyer.

Magistrate Gomba Osaro ordered that she be remanded in prison custody.

She also ordered that her case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice. Osaro adjourned till March 28 for DPP’s advice.

Presidential Election 2019: Follow Due Process In Seeking Redress, NGO Urges Politicians

An Enugu-based non-governmental Organisation, Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement Network, has admonished those dissatisfied with the outcome of the presidential election, to follow due process in seeking redress.

The Organisation made the call through its President, Mr Olu Omotayo, while reacting to the announcement of Buhari as the winner of the election.

Omotayo told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Enugu that there were constitutional means of reacting to ‘unfavourable’ election outcomes.

It appealed to those dissatisfied with the outcome of the election, especially the main opposition party,  not to resort to self-help, thereby, adding to the tension in the country.

“The election has been conducted and INEC has declared the winner; those who are not satisfied with the outcome should follow constitutional means to vent their frustrations.

“It will not be in the interest of the country for anyone to foment trouble in Nigeria,” it advised.

The NGO also appealed to Buhari to put urgent machineries in place to calm frayed nerves across the country.

“The president should foster unity in the country by not allowing his party members to see this victory as their own; it is a victory for all Nigerians,” it added.

The Network congratulated Nigerians for their steadfastness and belief in the electoral process, adding that the country would be better in the coming days.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had, in the early hours of Wednesday declared incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the February 23rd election.

Candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, placed second.

Disquiet In PDP As Jonathan Loses Senatorial District To Sylva, APC

There was loud silence in the Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the inability of former President Goodluck Jonathan to deliver his community and senatorial district to the party in the just-concluded elections.

Results of the elections showed poor performance of the PDP in Jonathan’s Otuoke community in Ogbia Local Government Area and his entire East Senatorial District comprising Ogbia, Nembe and Brass local government areas.

The senatorial district fell to a former Governor of the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, who worked assiduously to deliver the senatorial candidate of the APC, Mr. Degi Eremienyo Wagara and the candidate for Nembe-Brass Federal Constituency, Isreal Sunny-Igoli.

Results from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that Wagara scored 43,303 to defeat the candidate of the PDP, Ipigansi Izagara, who polled 32,363 votes and the ADC candidate, Senator Nimi Amange with 16,936.

Also in the Brass-Nembe Federal Constituency, the former President was said to have done nothing to deliver the PDP candidate, Marie Ebikake, who scored 19,279 against 41,150 polled by the APC candidate.

It was gathered that Jonathan would have lost his entire Ogbia to the APC but for the efforts of Governor Seriake Dickson’s appointees, who went extra miles to rescue the PDP.

Party sources said it took the efforts of the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, to avert the defeat of the PDP candidate for the Ogbia Federal Constituency, Fred Obua, by the APC.

Iworiso-Markson was said to have worked with the newly appointed Special Adviser on Grassroot Mobilisation, Captain Ozu; the Senior Special Assistant on Youths, Osaanya B. Osaanya to deliver Obua, who scored 12,048 votes to win the APC candidate, Samuel Ogbuku, who got 7,995 votes.

The PDP leadership in the state was said to have bemoaned the former President’s attitude saying it justified an allegation  by a group, Ogbia Renaissance, that Jonathan, his wife, Patience and A.J. Turner were working against the candidates of the PDP.

A top member of the PDP, who spoke in confidence, said what transpired on the election day was brazen anti-party by Jonathan’s loyalists in the PDP and some disloyal appointees of the governor.

“The Ogbia Renaissance raised the alarm days before the election accusing the former President and his loyalists in the PDP of working against the candidates of the party in Ogbia and the Eastern Senatorial District.

“Despite denying the allegations and pouring invectives on the group, the anti-party played out in the election as these individuals openly backed and sponsored the APC and the ADC House of Representatives candidates.

“There associates, who are PDP appointees in Dickson’s government also worked against the PDP candidate. It took special efforts and commitment of some loyal appointees of the governor such as Daniel Iworiso-Markson to avert the defeat of our House of Representative candidate in Ogbia Local Government Area.

“We are watching them and we have noted the roles each of them played. The PDP in the state had already established a disciplinary committee and the names of these people have been penciled down.

“They will be invited after the election to face the committee. It is shameful that under the watch of former President Jonathan, PDP lost a senatorial district to the APC in an area that is supposed to be a stronghold of our party. This is what anti-party can cause”.

UK Congratulates Buhari On Securing Second Term

The United Kingdom on Wednesday joined other world leaders to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the just concluded presidential election.

The Minister of State for Africa Harriett Baldwin, in a congratulatory message contained in a statement released to journalists, said the outcome of the election has demonstrated the resilience and a commitment of the Nigerian people to democracy.

“I offer my congratulations to President Buhari on securing a second term as the Nigerian President”, Baldwin said, describing the UK as a long-standing friend and partner of Nigeria and the Nigerian people.

While noting that a stable and prosperous Nigeria would benefit Africa and the world, he said: “The Nigerian people have demonstrated resilience and a commitment to democracy. The result declared by the Nigerian election commission is consistent with the result obtained through the civil society Parallel Vote Tabulation process.

“Along with our international partners, the UK believes the Nigerian people can have confidence in the result.”

The minister however said that the UK was not unmindful of the independent Nigerian voices that have expressed concerns about the conduct of the electoral process, in particular logistics and results collation, and reports of intimidation of election officials.

To this end, the statement appealed to any party or individual who wishes to challenge the process to do so peacefully and through the appropriate legal channel.

The statement on the other hand encouraged the federal government to examine all allegations of wrongdoing carefully, and take the necessary action against individuals found responsible.

“My thoughts are also with the families and friends of those who lost their lives in election-related violence. No one should die in the exercise of their democratic rights. We will continue to support Nigeria and its civil society in drawing lessons from these elections and strengthening its democracy,” the statement added.
