My Second Term Will Be Tough, Buhari Assures

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his second term in office will be tough.

President Buhari who was reelected as Nigeria’s president in the just concluded presidential and parliamentary election in the country said that Nigerians are very forgetful, especially with the fact that he spoke about his governments cardinal agenda to them during campaigns.

President Buhari made the statement when members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) paid him a congratulatory visit today.

Among those present at the meeting were the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and over 20 ministers.

According to him, “My last lap of four years, I think is going to be tough. People are very forgetful and that’s why during the campaign, I spoke about our cardinal agenda.”

Recall that President Buhari was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Wednesday after he polled 15,191,847 to thrash his major challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 11,262,978 votes.

APC Suspends Governor Amosun, Okorocha

The national working committee, NWC,  of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  has suspended the governors of Ogun and Imo states, Ibikunle Amosun and Rochas Okorocha over anti-party activities.

APC took the decision at its National Working Committee meeting held today in Abuja. The NWC of the party further recommended the expulsion of the duo from the party for brazen anti-party activities.

Both governors are supporting different candidates for the governorship election in their states.

Okorocha, who won a Senate seat as APC candidate, is backing his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu campaigning for Imo governor as candidate of Action Alliance.

Amosun, who also won a Senate seat as APC senator last week, is also supporting a member of the House of Representatives, Abdulkadir Akinlade, as governor as a member of the Allied Peoples Movement.

Group Stage Protest In Lagos Demanding An End To Bola Tinubu’s Reign

Some operatives attached to the Area ‘F’ Police Command, yesterday fired tear gas at some anti-Bola Tinubu protesters in Lagos.

The group, Free Lagos Orange Movement, converged on the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, to launch the ‘O to ge’ movement aimed at ending the political dynasty of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu.

The police officers, who arrived at the venue in six patrol vehicles and one Black Maria van, blocked the entrance to the hotel for two hours and prevented customers from coming in and going out.

Some of the operatives also blocked the gate leading to the Oranmiyan Hall, the venue of the news conference by the group, preventing the conveners of the movement, including a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olisa Agbakoba; the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Mr Yinka Odumakin; and the spokesman for the Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Campaign Council, Mr Segun Sowunmi, among others, from gaining access to the venue.

Participants, who came for the conference, were stranded at the main gate of the hotel, causing traffic congestion on both sides of the Obafemi Awolowo Way.

Hoodlums, who were allegedly acting on the directive of the senator representing Lagos West, Senator Olamilekan Solomon, stormed the venue and asked the members of the movement to leave the entrance to the hotel immediately.

Although the members refused to heed the directive, their decision to remain at the gate of the hotel led to a confrontation with the hoodlums, which degenerated into a free-for-all, forcing the police officers to use tear gas and gunshots to disperse them.

One of the conveners of the group, Mark Adebayo, while addressing the members, decried the violence that characterised the presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of the state, especially in Shomolu Local Government Area and Oshodi-Isolo Local Council Development Area, adding that it was time to free the state from ‘bondage’ and allow the will of the people to prevail.

He said, “I want you to challenge the political hegemony that has maltreated and cornered our resources. Are we so stupid and ignorant in Lagos to allow one man to manipulate and maltreat us this way? The clear answer is a resounding no.

“So, Lagosians, enough is enough; Lagosians arise and shine, liberate yourselves from the iron grip of one man. Stand up and free yourselves and your future from the captivity of a roguish system of power succession that lacks basic respect for the free choice of leadership.”

Also speaking, Agbakoba noted that the movement, which is aimed at dismantling Tinubu’s stranglehold on Lagos, would not be deterred by the actions of the police.

He said, “The Free Lagos Movement is a non-political movement that is aimed at ensuring that we have good governance in Lagos State. We feel that Tinubu has had his time as the emperor of Lagos since 1998, and we are trying to mobilise Lagosians to say no to the continuity of Lagos by Tinubu.

“I’m not surprised that the police would come and break up the gathering, but it won’t deter us as our purpose is to build on the result of the last elections. We hope to keep the momentum and we are backing Jimi Agbaje, because we want something new.”

Odumakin, who described the invasion of the gathering by the police as the “resurrection of the Sanni Abacha regime in Lagos,” urged Lagosians to vote out the APC in the gubernatorial election.

15 Dead, 102 Infected With Lassa Fever In Ondo

No fewer than 15 persons have been confirmed killed by the deadly Lassa fever in Ondo State between January and February 2019.

It was also revealed that the disease had infected 102 persons in the state within the period under review.

The Ondo State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association disclosed this to journalists in Akure, the state capital.

According to him,  Owo, Ose, Akoko North, Akure South and Akure North local government areas are the areas in the state where the cases were recorded.

He said, “As of Thursday February 21, 2019, 102 people have been positive to Lassa fever,  82 people in January and 20 people so far in February. About 15 people have died in January as a result of the fever but no death has been recorded so far in February.

“Most people that died either reported late or were already subjected to alternative treatment and doing self-medication before they eventually came to hospital. Their kidneys and livers had been affected as a result of the delay.”

Oke, who works at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, urged residents of the state to report early to the medical centre if they experienced upsurge of temperature in their bodies.

He, however, noted that the FMC had the highest success rate out of the three centres for Lassa fever treatment in Nigeria.

“We have contact tracing mechanism whereby we can place on surveillance for 21 days those that may have contact with an infected person.

“We continue to monitor their temperature if it is above 37.8 and ask them quick for treatment,” he stated.

Atiku's Men Move To Take Over Lagos From Tinubu

A takeover of Lagos, the nation's commercial center, is said to be a “consolation prize” being contemplated by the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar after his controversial defeat by President Muhammadu Buhari in last Saturday’s presidential election.

Bola Tinubu, APC national leader, on his part is doing everything to hold on to the state against all odds. The police on Thursday disrupted a meeting of groups trying to strategize the Lagos take over plan.  Who takes Lagos, considering Buhari and Atiku's votes were close? We'll know pretty soon.

Igbo Presidency In 2023 Is Now Dicey

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Victor Oye, has said going by the pattern of voting in last Saturday’s presidential poll in the South-East, the possibility of the Igbo producing the President of the country in 2023 is dicey.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Amawbia, near Awka, the Anambra State capital, Oye blamed the Igbo for always putting their “eggs in one basket.”

The South-East geopolitical zone voted overwhelmingly for the PDP in the election.

He said the Igbo should stop playing politics of emotions and face what he called the “reality of the country’s monolithic political structure.”

He said, “For me, I believe the Igbo play more of politics of emotion than politics of pragmatism. They are not realistic; they always pander to emotionalism.

“Everything to them is all about a particular interest. Once they make up their mind to go towards a particular direction, that is where a sizeable number of them will go.

“So, I’m not optimistic about 2023 Igbo presidency going by what has happened now.”

He said the Igbo should come together as a people to discuss their common interest.

He added, “Their common problem is unity. They cannot always come together and they are easily swayed by extraneous things as demonstrated in the last two elections of 2015 and 2019.
“Igbo should realign themselves and re-determine the options before them. From what happened last Saturday, the Igbo people worked as a team; but in the end, they lost. They won the battle and lost the war.

“They asserted themselves, showing they can make things happen. It shows that if they pool their resources together and work under one political party, they will make more foray.

“Ndigbo need to play at the national level and not ethnocentric regional politics, knowing that Nigeria is a monolithic political structure.”

PDP Replies APC Chairman Oshiomhole

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the claim by All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman Adams Oshiomhole that its candidate Atiku Abubakar lost last Saturday’s election because he was not electable.

Its spokesman Kola Ologbodiyan advised Oshiomhole to first address what he called the many problems he has brought upon APC before dabbling into the affairs of Atiku.

Ologbondiyan said: “It is not for the National chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole to tell Nigerians who is electable or not.

“He told the whole world that he will deliver 100 per cent vote for president Muhammad Buhari in his ward. What did that tell you? That is pure rigging because there is nowhere in the whole world that everybody will be in one political party. It showed manifestly how much rigging Oshiomhole is capable of.

“Is it not strange that a sitting national chairman cannot deliver his state for his party, in spite of the fact that he has a sitting governor. Will it not bother him? That is a question that should bother his mind.

“If truly the APC is a political party, that should bother them that they have a national chairman who woefully failed to deliver his state to his party.

“I don’t think anybody takes Adams Oshiomhole serious in this country going by the manner he conducted primaries in his party.

“Here is a party national chairman that cannot even manage internal democracy within his party. He created problems for his candidates and his own party members were pelting him with water sachets and stones at campaign rallies.”

You Ain’t Destined To Rule.. Oshiomhole Tells Atiku

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has said the party is ready to meet the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in court.

Atiku had at a press briefing where he rejected the result of the February 23 presidential election on Wednesday, indicated his intention to challenge it at the election petitions tribunal.

According to him, the election was manipulated in favour of the APC, saying voters in his strongholds were denied voting.

But in a response to the allegations, Oshiomhole at a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja said he was convinced that the election reflected the will of Nigerians despite pockets of violence recorded in some parts of the country.

He said it was sheer arrogance for Atiku to have said Nigeria’s future was tied to his presidency.

“Was he going to rule Nigeria against our wish? Citizens must hold their leaders accountable to their policy choices. Even, when he said if he would die, he would sell the NNPC; many people believed that he has collected deposit.

“It borders on arrogance for Atiku to suggest that our future is tied to his presidency. Atiku is destined never to be president of Nigeria. Leadership is about character. Atiku’s desperation is so obvious, so desperate that in 2003, he challenged his own boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, not to do a second term,” he said.

Oshiomhole said he deliberately refused to say the election was perfect because the APC was rigged, especially in the South-South in connivance with some INEC’s ad hoc staff and backed by some Resident Electoral Commissioners, whom he accused of working against the APC.

He said in one of the APC’s strongholds in his local government, INEC members of staff deliberately mutilated result sheets to the point that it was unacceptable and over 5,000 votes were cancelled in the process.

According to him, the REC rejected a request for a fresh tabulation to accommodate results collated from the polling unit level.

He said the manipulation allegedly aided by compromised INEC workers was responsible for the loss of the senatorial bid of Senator Godswill Akpabio.

He stated that his party had compiled several petitions to INEC on the irregularities.

Oshiomhole said, “Rather than Atiku saying that rigging has come to stay, and why the numbers don’t add up in the absence of massive rigging, I just think that he needs to be reminded the essence of our collective efforts with all those that I can describe as genuine friends of Nigeria, to improve the electoral process.

“We have petitions that we have written to INEC on how we were rigged out in Akwa Ibom State. It is interesting that it is the PDP that is complaining about the outcome of election in Akwa Ibom State.

“How do you explain that INEC cancelled so many units not only in Akwa Ibom State but many other states in order to be able to declare the PDP candidates as winners? That is how Senator Akpabio was rigged out in Akwa Ibom State.”

Father Of 5 Shoots Wife Dead Over S*x

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Mohammed Manu, for allegedly killing his wife, Bulo, in Barusa village, in the New Bussa Local Government Area of the state.

The command confirmed the arrest on Thursday, stating that a team of policemen attached to the New Bussa Police Division apprehended the suspect.

Manu, a father of five, was alleged to have killed Bulo for allegedly refusing him s-x after several moves.

It was learnt that Bulo’s refusal to sleep with her husband resulted in her untimely death.

Punch Metro gathered that the suspect had previously warned his wife of the dangers of starving him of sex almost on a daily basis.

The suspect told our correspondent that he shot his wife with a pistol after she provoked him by constantly denying him s-x.

Manu said, “I had warned my wife to stop denying me sex, which is the fundamental of any marriage; each time I demanded s-x from her, she treated me like a leper, which I considered unacceptable.

“When I pressed further that day, she pushed me and I lost my temper and killed her. She was fond of giving excuses each time I wanted to make love to her.

“How can my wife refuse my s-x advances? It is an abomination where I come from; she did not have the right to do that.”

The police said Manu had been charged to court.

Nigerian Uncle Attempts To Murder Niece After Impregnating Her Twice

The Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a 52-year-old man, Dennis Kiyeve, for turning his niece, a minor, into a s-x machine for over three years.

Kiyeve, who was said to have deflowered and impregnated the girl, was alleged to have conspired to kill her in order to cover his track.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Mr Solomon Iyamu, said in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, that the suspect would be charged to court “to serve as a deterrent to other useless uncles, who are in the act of molesting their family members, and other adults, who molest minors.”

Trouble reportedly began for the girl in 2013 when she had to live with her uncle at Ilupeju village in the Gbonyin Ekiti Local Government Area of the state following her mother’s death in Benue State.

It was alleged that by 2016, when she turned 12, Kiyeve had started having canal knowledge of her.

The girl, who is now 15-year-old, said she could not refuse the s-xual advances of her uncle, who feeds and shelters her, adding, “Any attempt to refuse may result in hunger, punishment and deprivation of school fees.”

The minor, who reportedly aborted her first pregnancy in 2016, and is allegedly pregnant for her uncle again, said, “Medical examination had shown that fibroid tumour is growing along with the baby and is capable of hindering the development of the foetus.”

Consequently, she has appealed to non-governmental organisations and residents of Ekiti State to come to her rescue.

Kiyeve admitted that he had been having canal knowledge of the girl for three years, adding that the act had become normal for the two of them.

“When the act resulted in pregnancy in 2016, it was kept secret with the help of a quack midwife, who assisted us to terminate the pregnancy. The responsibility for the pregnancy was between me and one Kunle, who happened to be her schoolmate in the village,” he said,

According to him, when she got pregnant again, he became ashamed and attempted to terminate the pregnancy in a nearby bush around the village, but the girl was rescued by a good Samaritan, who reported the incident to the village head.

The village head, Chief Adebisi Olaoye, who promised to support the NSCDC in its investigation to unravel the mystery, said the villagers arrested the suspect while allegedly attempting to kill the girl.

Olaoye said the suspect’s movements had become suspicious after the affair blew open to the villagers, hence the residents had been keeping a close watch on him.

R. Kelly's Manager Defends Him! There Is A S-x Tape, But Nothing Against The Law

R. Kelly is at the center of a massive investigation following the discovery of multiple incriminating s-x tapes.

For years, R. Kelly’s fans have been divided on whether or not he was really the person who appeared on the last infamous s-x tape due to the grainy quality of it. However, this time around, attorney Michael Avenatti and Cook County prosecutors claim there is no denying the fact that R. Kelly is the man in the latest video.

To make matters worse, he’s reportedly filmed with an underage girl. But despite the incriminating tape and the charges R. Kelly is facing, the Grammy-Award-winning singer maintains his innocence.

In the past, those close to R. Kelly remained silent about the tapes, but now, his manager Don Russell is sounding off.

News One caught up with Russell following R. Kelly’s release from Cook County Jail in Chicago, Illinois. When asked about the current s-x tapes in question, Russell offered a surprising response.

According to News One, not only did Russell admit R. Kelly recorded the tapes, but he also offered a bizarre reason why he did so.

During a seemingly awkward exchange with the press, Russell revealed that R. Kelly allegedly filmed the s-x tapes to “prove consent” for the “sake of his career.”

Russell who is also the singer’s advisor and longtime friend also explained why R. Kelly made so many frequent trips to his old high school. Despite the claims detailed in Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly, Russell claims the singer had a legitimate purpose for his visits.

“He wasn’t going to that school because he was targeting somebody … he had a teacher who actually taught him how to play the piano and taught him about music and a lot of things,” Russell said with a straight face. “So he wasn’t going there targeting anybody, he was going there to learn more about his craft.”

Admitting that R. Kelly did, indeed, film his s-x acts, Russell went on to compare R. Kelly’s s-x tapes to Mike Tyson. “The videos exist, but you have to think about this,” said Russell, “Mike Tyson went to jail for what? He couldn’t prove what happened in that room, right? He’s not taping videos because he gets something off from it.”

However, Russell did attempt to defend R. Kelly when he was asked one specific question: did R. Kelly have s-x with a 14-year-old girl? According to Russell, “absolutely not.” At this point, the age of the female in the s-x tape has yet to be confirmed.

But, according to Michael Avenatti, R. Kelly makes the female’s age very clear as he reportedly says it multiple times in the video.

Avenatti also claims he can positively identify the young lady. Although Russell is defending R. Kelly, many fans believe he may not be able to slip through the cracks of the justice system this time around. R. Kelly is currently facing 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault.

INEC has so far declared results of 101 senatorial elections that were conducted across the country on Saturday. The Senate has 109 members and for a party to have the two-thirds majority in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, it must produce 73 senators.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party has won 35 seats in the Senate, while the Young Progressive Party clinched a seat in Anambra State.

PDP produces three Reps, APC, two in Bayelsa
In Bayelsa State, besides winning a senatorial seat, the APC, in the results announced by INEC, clinched two House of Representatives seats in the Southern Ijaw and Nembe/Brass.

Nembe and Brass constituencies are also part of Goodluck Jonathan’s senatorial district.

Married Man Allegedly R*pes His Sister-in-law

A 35-year-old man, Abubakar Garba, of Dorayi village in the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, has been accused of r*ping his sister-in-law. The husband of the victim, Lawal Usman, reported the incident at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Musawa, with opertatives arresting and charging Garba to court.

It was learnt that about eight months ago, Usman, who is Garba’s elder brother, took ill and was away in Katsina for medical examination and treatment...

Usman told the police that he discovered that whenever he travelled, Garba usually lured his wife into his room and had s*xual inter-course with her “on different occasions.”

The police consequently charged Garba with r*pe under Section 183 of the Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told a Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court that investigation into the case was still in progress.

Garba has been remanded in prison custody by Senior Magistrate Fadila Dikko, who fixed April 2, 2019, for the trial.

Lagos Police Use Tear Gas On Anti-Tinubu Protesters

Some operatives attached to the Area ‘F’ Police Command, on Thursday, fired tear gas at some anti-Bola Tinubu protesters in Lagos.

When The Punch contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, he noted that movement did not notify the command about its mission, hence, the police action.

He stated, “In view of the incident that happened yesterday (Wednesday) wherein some group of persons, without clearance from the police, decided to embark on a procession, and today again, we got information that a group of people would be gathering at another location.

“Since we were not notified of what they wanted to do, which would have enabled us to make adequate preparation and guide them appropriately or work along with them to make the event a success, we decided to disperse everybody to prevent any incident from occurring.

“Two sets of people gathered and at a point, they turned it into a riotous event and we had no option but to use a public order instrument to disperse them without any collateral damage.”

Abdulsalam Meets Atiku, Obi Over Presidential Poll Result

A former military Head of State, Gen. Abdusalami Aboubakar (retd.); the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, and other members of the Peace Committee met with the Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja on Thursday night.

Others notable Nigerians at the meeting included
Cardinal John Onaiyekan and Rev. Fr Atta Barkindo of the NPC Secretariat. Atiku’s running mate, Mr Peter Obi; President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; House of Reps speaker, Yakubu Dogara, and other PDP leaders also attended the meeting.

The meeting, it was learnt, was convened following Atiku’s decision to go to court to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory.

The meeting, which, started around 6pm, lasted for about one and half hours.

A source, who was at the meeting, told The Punch that the committee asked for the grievances of Atiku and his team over the outcome of the election, which was won by Buhari of the All Progressives Congress.

The Atiku group was said to have narrated alleged intimidation of its supporters in some states and alleged inflation of votes in favour of President Buhari in some states.

The PDP was also said to have told the Abdusalami panel that the party was in possession of documentary evidence to show that the election was characterised with irregularities that were too weighty to ignore.

The source said, “The committee came to meet with us and asked us how we felt about the outcome of the election. We explained our disappointment to the committee and they agreed with us on some of the issues we raised.

“The committee members pleaded with us to accept the outcome and probably forget the issue of going to court and all that.

“But we let them know the danger of ignoring such calamity as it would send dangerous signal to both the international community and future generations in the country.

“We have to lay a good example that we cannot build on nothing. It will be dangerous to forget the massive rigging and dangerous things that happened in many parts of the country.”

The leadership of the PDP is expected to address a press conference on the meeting on Friday (today).

The PDP team and Atiku, it was learnt, demanded that the military should not be deployed in subsequent elections, while INEC should open back-end servers to all participating parties.

They also called for the release of all politicians allegedly detained illegally by the Federal Government and the unfreezing of accounts of those whose accounts were blocked as part of the government’s clampdown on the opposition.

They also demanded that accreditation must come before voting in the March 9 elections.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the Abdusalami panel was on its way to meet with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo as of the time of filing this report last night.

The meeting, it was learnt, was aimed at encouraging politicians to tone down the war of words between the APC and the PDP following the announcement of the result of the Presidential election.

While Atiku has rejected the result describing it as a sham, the APC, most especially its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, has been lambasting Atiku, describing him as a sore loser.

The peace committee, it was learnt, was asking both parties to abide by the spirit and the letter of the peace pact they signed before the elections.

Has Alao Akala a former governor of Oyoi State and presently the Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP in Oyo State dumped his party few days to ELECTION?

Well, according to Oyoinsight.com, Akala has dumped his party despite he is the party’s Governorship candidate in the March 9th election. The website reports that, Akala made a u-turn yesterday after visiting Tinubu a second time, with his wife and son – Lamiju Akala who was stripped off his Local Government chairman postion when he decamped last month. Hopefully, he will get the position back now if his father has truly decamped.

Recall, APC Chieftain, Bola Tinubu is trying all his best to get Oyo State first seat for APC after Atiku shockingly won the Presidential election in the state. Fingers crossed!

Are Ariana Grande And Big Sean Back On?

They are both currently single, having ended their respective relationships late last year.

And Ariana Grande was spotted cosying up to her former love Big Sean as they left as recording studio together on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

The two were seen in the front seat of Sean's car, with Ariana turning her head away from the camera and holding her dog to her face.

Despite her obvious hope not to be seen, it appeared both she and her ex were smiling as they dodged the cameras in the images published by TMZ.

Ariana and Big Sean dated for a year, splitting in April 2015. At the time of their split she was said to be 'humiliated' by his track Stay Down from his album, Dark Sky Paradise.

In it he rapped about having a 'million-dollar chick with a billion-dollar p***y', and Ariana's beloved grandmother was said to have asked her to explain the lyrics.

Sean was most recently linked to Jhené Aiko, who was so devoted she had his face inked on her arm. Their three-year relationship ended in November.
