Senator-elect Beaten & Stripped For Alleged Adultery With Top APC Man's Wife (Photos)

Deputy Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly and senator-elect for Nasarawa North Senatorial District, Mr Godiya Akwashiki, was reportedly beaten to a state of coma for having an affair with the wife of a top politician in the state.

The politician, Mr Danladi Envuluanza, who hails from the same senatorial district with Akwashiki, was a governorship aspirant on the platform of the APC in Nasarawa but lost to Abdullahi Sule in the primary election.

Envuluanza allegedly mobilised youths and thugs who met Akwashiki in a hotel
in the outskirts of Abuja where he was publicly beaten and stripped for toasting and attempting to sleep with his wife. Though Envuluanza’s wife was not seen around the hotel, the politician who openly supervised Akwashiki’s beating in the hotel asked the thugs to kill him if they could.

In a video that is trending on the social media, Envuluanza was seen asking him ‘shebi you want to go to Senate’.

Sunday Sun gathered that after thoroughly supervising the physical beating of the deputy speaker, Envuluanza invited the Maitama Police Station branch using his connections to come and arrest him. It was learnt that Akwashiki spent the night at the station.

The state Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, was alleged to have called the Inspector General of Police who is from the state to order his release.

Akwashiki, who equally contested for the governorship of the state before stepping down at the last minute on the governor’s advice to pick the senatorial form, allegedly worked against Envuluanza in the primaries on the directive of the governor in favour of Sule, who eventually emerged.

Envuluanza was alleged to have vowed to make sure that Akwashiki did not win the senatorial election, which didn’t materialise.

Speaking with Sunday Sun on phone shortly after he was released from the police station, Akwashiki said he had never met Envuluanza’s wife in his life and wondered how he would attempt to sleep with someone he had never met before. He said that the incident was a set up by the politician to embarrass him having failed in his bid to stop his election to the Senate.

He maintained that there was no truth about the story, noting that it was Envuluanza himself that called him to meet him at the hotel to mend political fences, stressing that he did not know he had arranged thugs to disgrace him.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, confirmed that the police was investigating the case of a man beaten by some persons for allegedly sleeping with another man’s wife.

It's Cheap Lies, Atiku Made No Demand On Buhari - Party

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed misleading media reports that its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, made some demands on President Muhammadu Buhari.

Describing the reports as fabrication being peddled by the Buhari presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP urged the public to disregard such reports, describing them as absolute falsehood and outright lies.

A statement by the spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said Atiku Abubakar had not, and will never make or accept any condition from President Buhari regarding the February 23 presidential election, which the PDP insisted Atiku won. The statement said, “The Buhari presidency and the APC know that their electoral robbery cannot stand before any noble justices and are now attempting to use all sorts of blackmail and shenanigans to derail the quest by Nigerians to reclaim the stolen mandate at the tribunal.

“However, let it be known to President Buhari and the APC that Atiku Abubakar and the PDP are standing shoulder to shoulder with Nigerians in this collective determination to take back the stolen mandate and we are not ready for any form of negotiation with anybody on this matter. Our party and candidate remain committed to the huge sacrifices made by Nigerians in ensuring our collective victory as delivered at the polling units across the country; we are mindful of the pains that Nigerians are passing through since the subversion of their will at the polls; we are sensitive to the expectations that millions of compatriots place on our shoulders in this struggle and we will never let Nigerians down.

We have all the authentic results from all the polling units as well as forensic evidence of manipulations by the APC and INEC. We will bare them all at the tribunal and the court will give justice to Nigerians. On that note, the PDP states unequivocally that nothing will change its resolve to pursue this despicable electoral fraud, unknown in our political history, to its end. We shall devote every energy necessary to reclaim our mandate and have Atiku Abubakar declared president, in line with the will of the people as delivered at the polling units on February 23, 2019.”

Why Marriage Can Never Work For Me- Jaywon

Jaywon has revealed why marriage can never work for him. According to him, marriage has destroyed a lot of things, but partnership wont.
He disclosed this to Saturday Beats saying;

“One of the things I look for when it comes to having a relationship is happiness and being able to manage each other (me and my partner). I don’t think I need marriage; all I need is a best friend that we can just be together and understand each other for the rest of our lives, have kids and build an empire together.

“I feel that when the word marriage comes into the picture, that is when the problem starts. Everybody starts to feel like they have a right and all that. We can just be best friends and be together forever; it is more important than calling it marriage. If it is a partnership, then let it be so, if we can pray, make money and have children together. I don’t need any other thing.

“If I can have all that, I am okay; marriage has destroyed a lot of people. I am not married yet because I have yet to find the right woman.  I feel if there is no love, we cannot progress. Even in a company, if there is no love, the company won’t grow. I have been heartbroken many times in the past; ‘Saro’ my song, is a true life story.

“My son is the most important thing to me right now; everybody knows I travel a lot. Each time I travel out of the country, I get to pay him a visit. The only reason why he has not visited Nigeria is because he needs to grow, he is still growing. I don’t care about what the society thinks, the society has killed a lot of people and messed them up because they put the society before themselves,” he told Saturday Beats.

Man Who Wanted To Marry Me Ran Away When He Saw My 5 Children –Iya Rainbow

Veteran actress, Idowu Phillips, aka Iya Rainbow, has remained unmarried after the death of her husband 35 years ago. In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the actress remarked that she was no longer interested in being joined in matrimony with anyone.

She said, “Over my dead body would I get married again. My husband closed (my heart) with a padlock and he went away with the key. I don’t trust the men of these days. There was one that said he wanted to marry me but he ran away after he saw all my kids. I have forgotten how to want a man. With five kids to cater for, I had no thoughts of that. In those days, I could go to four different locations in a day, to tell you how hard I was working to make money to take care of my children.”

Recalling how her late husband died, she said,
“I can never forget the day my husband died in 1984. I felt the world was going to end on that day. He was my alpha and omega. I used to be a nurse but he was the one that made me to become an actress. As a matter of fact, during his burial, I told people to put all our children with him in the grave that I didn’t want them again. The shock was just too much for me to bear. Imagine one becoming a widow at the age of 42.”

Despite being a nurse, Iya Rainbow expressed frustration that she was unable to save her former husband from the cold hands of death. She said, “I took him to several hospitals such as the General Hospital in Lagos. I was a staff member of the hospital then and immediately I took him there, he was attended to. To be fair, the doctors tried their best but God had the final say. When a person reaches his or her bus stop, he or she has to come down. He eventually died at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.”

The veteran actress also recalled that many people promised to help the family immediately after the demise of her husband but majority of them did not fulfil their promises. “There were a lot of promises but after a short while, many of them didn’t check up on us again. He was buried in Awe, Oyo State, and many people practically turned their backs on us after the ceremony,” she said.

On how she was able to sustain her family after she left the make-believe world for the pulpit, Iya Rainbow said, “I have had a better life since I left active acting. I have done a lot of great things now that I couldn’t do when I was a full-time actress.”

Speaking on how she got to be a part of the trending Airtel commercial, Phillips said, “It was the work of God. I was at home when I was called for the advert. I am sure God considered all that I had been through and He gave me a reason to smile.

“I had a wonderful experience shooting the commercial. The white people on the production team made me laugh the most because whenever they asked me to say anything in English, I often got it wrong. When I was supposed to say ‘selfie time’, I pronounced it in a funny way with a Yoruba accent, but the white man liked it and said we should leave it that way. He then said, ‘Grandma, I like you’. We were lodged in a hotel that felt like paradise.”

5 APC Senators Battling To Emerge New Senate President

The race for the leadership of the 9th session of the National Assembly is on, just a week after the election into the legislative arm. Already in contention are the Senate Presidency and the Speakership of the House of Representatives.

No fewer than five top APC Senators are seeking to head the 9th Senate...

They are the Senate Leader Ahmad Lawan; a former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume; a former Governor of Gombe State and the outgoing Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Danjuma Goje; and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Support Group (PSG), ex-Governor Adamu Abdullahi.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State who is also being touted as a possible candidate does not seem to stand a chance on account of zoning as he is from the same zone - Southwest - and same Ogun state as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He was suspended by the National Working Committee of APC on Friday for alleged anti party activities and recommended for expulsion by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC).

For now, only the current Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, is the front runner in the race for the Speakership of the Green Chambers, although the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is allegedly hatching a plot to push outgoing Speaker Yakubu Dogara for a return to the seat.

Dogara emerged in controversial circumstances in 2015 to clinch the post and sources said the PDP to which he now belongs may look for an alternative to Dogara in a desperate bid to stop Gbajabiamila, on the strength of his closeness to the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

PDP is banking on a likely split in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House Caucus to return Dogara as Speaker.

But pressure is mounting on President Muhammadu Buhari to take charge to avert a repeat of the political scheming which led to the emergence of the outgoing President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and Speaker Dogara in 2015 against the directive of the APC.

The Nation also gathered that some forces in APC want party leaders to prevail on the President to give members of the National Assembly a free hand to elect their leaders.

Results of the last National Assembly elections released by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), shows that the APC won 65 of the 109 (about 59%) senatorial seats in the country, leaving the PDP with 41 Senatorial seats (37%) and Young Progressives Party’s (YPP) one seat (1%).

The APC has also won 200 of the 360 House of Representatives seats – leaving PDP with well over 100 seats. The final figure for the two major parties is still not clear as there are still unresolved election contests for several House of Representatives seats.

Investigation by our correspondent revealed that although the APC has the majority of the seats in the Senate and House of Representatives, the emergence of the President of the Senate and the Speaker will still require the input of the PDP.

The APC will need two-thirds majority in the Senate (about 73 votes) to be able to pass any bill.

The APC secured 61 seats in the Red Chambers in 2015 before the PDP infiltrated its ranks to secure the office of the Deputy President of the Senate for Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

Following the development, all the candidates aspiring to lead the Senate and the House have started reaching out to elected PDP members.

A top source, who spoke in confidence, told The Nation that: “The horse-trading to lead the Senate and the House of Representatives has begun. It is going to be a tough contest because all the candidates are ranking. For example, Ndume has been in the National Assembly for 16 years with eight years spent in the House and another eight years in the Senate. Lawan has been a Senator since 2007 with Adamu and Goje joining in 2011.

“Some governors and APC stalwarts are gambling with the choice of Governor Ibikunle Amosun to lead the Senate as a bosom friend of the President. They have linked the suspension of the governor to the plot to install him as Senate President.

“This jostling for power is despite of the fact that the APC is yet to define its zoning or power sharing formula. Those aspiring to lead the National Assembly are banking on the 2015 formula of the APC, which ceded the Senate Presidency to the Northeast and the Speaker to the Southwest, before the President of the Senate, Speaker Dogara and some APC lawmakers revolted.

“The lack of zoning formula made ex-Governor Abdullahi Adamu from Nasarawa State in the Northcentral to join the race. As the chairman of the Parliamentary Support Group which resisted the outgoing Senate President to save President Buhari, he believes he should lead the Senate.

Responding to a question, the source said: “All the candidates are already lobbying not only to have the Senate presidency and House Speaker zoned to their areas but to be anointed.

“Unless it is carefully managed, the Senate may witness a repeat of the 2015 crisis which PDP took advantage of.”

Sources said that although Gbajabiamila has a brighter chance to be the next Speaker, the PDP might still resist him.

The Nation reports that the PDP might back Dogara’s return as Speaker by depending on a possible split in the APC caucus. It was also learnt that the PDP might throw mud at Gbajabiamila like it did in 2015 in order to stop the APC candidate.

Another source said: “The PDP is working on another joker to checkmate Gbajabiamila’s ambition again. Some PDP leaders are uncomfortable with Gbajabiamila, who is a political son of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who worked harder to ensure the defeat of PDP at the presidential poll.

“PDP actually wants Dogara back in line with its pre-election plans. The opposition can only succeed if the APC Caucus in the House is disunited.

“The only challenge APC is facing is about likely imposition of the Senate President and the Speaker. Most of the candidates want the race left open equitably.

“This is why some APC leaders are pleading with President Muhammadu Buhari and party leaders to meet and work out an equitable power sharing module.”

The source added: “I think in the next two months, the game will be more interesting. If Dogara’s candidacy does not fly, PDP might sponsor another ranking member from the Southwest to be the Speaker.”

A source in government said: “President Buhari has really not shown interest now on those who will lead the National Assembly. Maybe he has a mindset but he is yet to discuss with party leaders.”

Deadly Gunmen Invade Hotel In Rivers, Kill Guest

A group of armed robbers on Thursday invaded a hotel in Igwurita, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State and killed a guest of the hotel. It was learnt that the hoodlums had forced their way into the hotel without much hindrance and got those at the reception to take them to some of the rooms the guests were relaxing.

The guests were dragged to a place and ordered to lie on the ground while their belongings, including cash and mobile phones, were taken away from them.

A source close to one of the victims said the deceased had refused to lie on the ground when he was directed to do so by the armed robbers. This was said to have angered one of the hoodlums, who shot him.

“None of the armed robbers has been arrested. They (armed robbers) came; they wanted to collect the money they (guests) had in the hotel. So, they brought them out from their rooms and asked them to lie down.

“The man they shot refused to lie down. The robbers took the money and handsets belonging to the guests of the hotel. It happened on Thursday,” the source said.

The police came in on Friday morning and arrested some workers of the hotel for interrogation.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident to The Punc, but added that he would need to contact the Divisional Police Officer in Igwurita to get details about the robbery incident.

Omoni, however, added that investigation had since begun with a view to apprehending those behind the robbery and the killing.

It was learnt that some of the workers, who also lost their phones to the hoodlums, were still at the police station in Igwurita as of Saturday evening.

24 EFCC Operatives Arrest Atiku’s Son-in-law

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the just concluded presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has raised the alarm over how 24 operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested his son-in-law, Alhaji Babalele Abdullahi.

He said Abdullahi, who is also finance director of Atiku Group of Companies, was arrested after the EFCC officials in two vehicles, an 18-seater Toyota bus and a Hilux van, had invaded the Maitama residence of his son-in-law at about 8.30am.

A statement by Atiku’s media adviser, Mr Paul Ibe, said the EFCC officials were, however, not given access into the house until Abdullahi’s lawyers arrived.

He said, “In a desperate move to have Atiku Abubakar concede and congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari, officials of the EFCC at about 8.30am today (Saturday) invaded the Maitama residence of Babalele. They were, however, not given access into the house until his lawyers arrived.

“The EFCC agents numbering about two dozens came in two regular vehicles, an 18-seater Toyota bus (with registration Abuja CS 522 RSH) and a Hilux van. They came with a search warrant to search the house and the office of Babalele and found nothing incriminating.

“They then proceeded to his office at Oakland Centre in Maitama and found nothing incriminating there. However, they took away some documents of landed property. Not done, the EFCC officials stormed his Wuse residence where they again found nothing incriminating after the search.

“Afterwards, Babalele was taken away to the EFCC office in Wuse to make a statement alongside Mr Lawan Ayuba. It was gathered that the petition relied upon to invade the residence and the office of Babalele was authored by a brother of the wife of President Buhari.”

Ibe stated that as a law-abiding citizen, Atiku recognised the constitutional role of the EFCC and indeed any other agency of the government to carry out investigations, but would not be cowed by any attempt to blackmail him into mortgaging his mandate.

The statement reported Atiku as assuring Nigerians that under no circumstance would he mortgage what he called the mandate of Nigerians, which he claimed was freely expressed on February 23.

We Will Force Buhari To Pay Attention To Nollywood, Foluke Daramola Boasts

Actress, Foluke Daramola-Salako, has said since President Muhammadu Buhari has been re-elected for a second term in office, the movie industry will force him to pay attention to the sector.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, she said, “We will force him to pay attention to the movie industry because that is why we voted for him. We want him to create a ministry of entertainment. There are a lot of issues that need to be treated, and we cannot continue to be under the ministry of tourism.

“We also want him to build cinemas under a public-private partnership programme. That way, we can have our own cinemas, specially for indigenous movies. We need stringent laws to deal with cinema owners so that their charges can be reduced. Right now, the cinemas get 70 per cent of earnings while the movie producer takes 30 per cent. At the end of the day, we end up making next to nothing. So, the tariff has to be reduced.

“Some of us took part in the electoral process because we have to take charge of our destinies. If we are not part of them, we wouldn’t be able to make input when critical decisions that have to do with us are taken.”

On how they intend to ‘force’ the president, Daramola-Salako said, “Firstly, we would be consistent. A lot of times, many of us are not united and persistent with what we do; so, we don’t get results. If we continue to make the right noise, I am sure the president would pay attention because he has a listening ear. A lot of us just do things individually without coming together to put up a united front. We need to have a one-on-one relationship with the government so that we can appropriately table our grievances.”

Reacting to the views expressed by some, including actress Georgina Onuoha, that celebrities should be non-partisan, Foluke said, “I am first a Nigerian before being an actress, and we are all entitled to our ideologies. It is very stupid and myopic for anybody to say that I supported President Buhari because I collected money. Meanwhile, a candidate can decide to pay me for endorsement or advert but the most important thing is the ideology. Before I support any candidate, I have to believe in him.

“I have never hidden the fact that I have been a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress since the party was formed. You cannot tell me that because I am an actor, I cannot express myself; that is absolutely preposterous. Desmond Elliot is an actor and a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly. If he wasn’t a part of politics, how would he have got into the House? I actually intend to go for a position later and if I don’t belong to any party, I wouldn’t be able to do that.”

Tinubu Panics Over PDP's Strong Results In South West

Sequel to last week’s presidential and National Assembly elections, in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) narrowly won in the South-West, there had been palpable fears among the party’s leadership on the expectation towards the governorship elections billed for next Saturday.

To this end, the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is said to be worried about the development, has set machinery in motion to pacify aggrieved members.

Some close aides of the APC leader disclosed to New Telegraph that Tinubu was not pleased with the result and he is poised to change next week’s outcome to a better result.

One of the aides, who had been with Tinubu for many years, explained that, aside the ruling party’s poor showing in the entire zone, the former governor of Lagos State was particularly angered by the outcome of Lagos results, as such, he would be meeting with major opinion leaders, students, youth leaders and political associates as well as others that could make things happen within the South- West.

“Oga was not happy, that is a fact, and that is why he is moving powerfully after the election, to rejig things, in order to ensure that the South West remains in the APC fold. You can imagine us losing Ondo and Oyo states. It was a big blow.

“The entire result was a shame indeed. In Lagos, we won by just 130,000 votes, imagine that, in our stronghold. How could that have happened? It means many people are not happy with the leadership,” the aide revealed.

Another aide of the former governor explained that the APC leader is already in talks with some power brokers in the South-West and about to reach out to those, who are proving to be tough within the APC and other parties. He said that in no distant time, many people, including big names within the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would be seen defecting to the APC.

“That is why Oga is meeting all groups and notable individuals. That will happen soon, probably immediately after the election, in order to ensure that we retain our hold on the region.

“Though there is 90 percent assurance that we are winning the governorship elections in the region, it is still not out of place to reach out to those that are aggrieved. You will soon see them moving into the APC family, the talks have begun and it will take full blast after the governorship elections. The South West remains our zone, there is no way we will let it go”, the aide said.

Atiku Begins Action, Says: "Stolen Mandate Must Be Retrieved"

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has inaugurated a legal team to challenge the outcome of the February 23 presidential poll in court. Paul Ibe, his media adviser, revealed this in a statement on Saturday.

The legal team is headed by Livy Uzoukwu, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to results declared by INEC, defeated Abubakar with over three million votes.

Atiku had described the election as the worst in Nigeria’s history while vowing to seek redress in court.

“I have just inaugurated my legal team and charged them with the responsibility of ensuring that our stolen mandate is retrieved”, Ibe quoted Atiku to have said.

“I am encouraged by the presence of fearless men and women of the Bench. The judiciary which had in the past discharged itself ably is once again being called upon to deliver judgement on this matter that will be untainted by lucre and uncowed by the threat of immoral power.”

For Real? EFCC Stopped from Probing Plane Loaded with Cash

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been barred from investigating a private jet loaded with money on February 15, 2019, the eve of the aborted presidential and National Assembly elections.

It was gathered that the plane which was billed to fly to Ilorin, Kwara State, from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos failed to take off due to the weight of the money on board.

Multiple sources said the EFCC operatives thereafter stormed the plane after a tip-off from some people about the cargo. They demanded the source of the money, its owner and destination.

The crew was said to have informed the operatives that the money was meant for election expenses in Kwara State, but the detectives reportedly insisted on taking away the cash haul.

The Punch sources said, “The EFCC operatives interrogated the crew and they claimed they were part of the government. They also gave a code which they assumed the operatives would understand, but the detectives insisted on taking away the money.

“However, a phone call came from the Presidential Villa ordering them to hands off the matter and clear off from the scene. Shortly after, armed soldiers took over the scene and the money was transferred into another plane which took off by 10pm that night.”

The Public Relations Officer, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, could not be reached for comments on the aircraft involved in the cash movement as she did not respond to calls to her phone. She had yet to respond to a text message as of the time of filing this report.

In his reaction, the acting EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, simply explained that he saw the alleged picture of the said aircraft being shared on the social media, noting that it could have been ‘created and recreated.’

He said, “On the plane-load of cash you asked about, I saw the pictures and we know that these pictures are things that can be manipulated to achieve the purposes by their producers. All the reports from the field are being reviewed and we shall come out with our position once it is ready.”

Meanwhile, findings have indicated that the EFCC may not investigate the movement of huge cash in two bullion vans by a leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on the eve of the elections.

Although Tinubu admitted in an interview with journalists in Lagos that he transported the bulk money into his Ikoyi residence which is a violation of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, it was gathered that the anti-graft agency had no plan to probe the incident.

When asked about the money, the former governor said, “What is your issue with bullion vans in my house? I have not done any government business in the last five years. So I didn’t steal government money.
“And the bullion van was not said to contain election materials, so what offence have I committed? I decide where to keep it (money) and how to keep it.”

But when confronted about the matter, the EFCC spokesman said the anti-graft commission had successfully curbed vote-buying in the elections and prevented a repeat of the incidents in Ekiti and Osun governorship elections.

“You will agree with me that to a large extent, we were able to curtail vote-buying with our men conspicuously positioned at polling booths across the country in the course of the elections,” he said.

IBB Congratulates Buhari... Tells Atiku What To Do

Former Military President Ibrahim Babangida has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the polls, appealing to Atiku Abubakar to work with him for the development of the country.

In a congratulatory message to Buhari on Saturday, IBB asked Buhari and Atiku to “close ranks and move the country forward”.

“I call on the former Vice–President Atiku Abubakar to close ranks and work with the winner of the election in an objective and constructive manner so that democracy will continue to thrive in our country at this crucial period of renaissance,” he said.

“I urge him also to endeavour and prevail on his admirers to eschew bitterness and violence. They must be prevailed upon to understand that politics is a game in which there must be only one winner.”

The former military president charged Buhari to “heal the wounds of the heated campaign exchanges by embracing those who contested alongside with him.

“The President must resist the temptation to see them as enemies; not even opponents, but fellow compatriots who merely disagreed with him on how best to move our country forward,” he said.

“Now that the President has won his reelection bid, he should confront with renewed vigour the most urgent problem confronting Nigeria.

“The Boko Haram insurgency remains a threat to many Nigerians particularly in the North East sub region, while the twin evils of kidnapping and armed robbery/armed banditry also remains a major national menace. The president must pay priority attention to these security issues.”

Babangida congratulated Nigerians for their peaceful conduct during the election and asked that same should be replicated in state elections next Saturday.

Unemployment, Poverty Forcing Nigerians To Turn To Oil Theft

When a country with mass population of unemployed men and women running into tens of millions can't develop a proper social security to support the vulnerable, the result is always predictable, unless for those who live in pretense.

A short documentary of young Nigerians indulging themselves into oil theft because of poverty and unemployment was shared on twitter by Aljazeera. It was indeed an eye opener...

Aljazeera wrote: “Unemployment and poverty are forcing many young Nigerians to turn to oil theft - though they say it's rightfully theirs.”

Okorocha versus Oshiomhole: Imo APC Leadership Reacts

The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has called on the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, to tender his resignation letter for suspending the governors of Imo and Ogun states.

At a press conference in Owerri, the state APC chairman, Daniel Nwafor, said that the suspension of Governors Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun was null and void.

Nwafor said that since Oshiomhole emerged the national chairman of the ruling party, he had been disregarding the constitution of the ruling party.

Saying that the state chapter of the APC would not honour the “purported suspension” of Okorocha from APC, Nwafor said that the former governor of Edo state had outlived his usefulness in APC.

Describing Oshiomhole as a man who had no respect for the rule of law, Nwafor said that the APC national chairman was known for not obeying court orders and judgments.

According to Nwafor, the suspension of Okorocha did not follow due process.

He said that according to the APC constitution, the suspension of any member starts from the ward level and not from the National working committee.

Nwafor said “I am here with the APC chairman from Ogboko ward where the governor hails from. There was no letter from the NWC to him to query the governor for any offence. The truth is that Oshiomhole is a man who has no respect for rule of law. He has a penchant for disobeying valid court judgments and orders.

“We demand his immediate resignation from APC. Adams Oshiomhole has outlived his usefulness in APC. As a party, we will not honour that purported suspension. It is null and void and of no effect. Governor Rochas Okorocha remains the leader of APC in Imo state.”

The state chairman said that APC in the state had no governorship candidate, even as he maintained that the APC governorship candidate in the state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, was not known by the party.

He said that available records by the party showed that Uzodinma was not a registered member of APC in his ward in Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

Thai King Sacks Staff For Committing Adultery

Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn has sacked a member of his staff for adultery. According to a royal gazette announcement published, on Saturday, a male staff member of the royal chamberlain committed “an extremely evil act’’ by having an affair with a married woman when he himself is married.

“His action has caused family conflicts and bad reputation for his unit. His behaviour is unfit for his rank and position,’’ the statement read.

Although the king’s dismissals of his staff and military personnel over “extremely evil acts’’ for a variety of wrongdoings is not unheard of, it is the first time the dismissal is solely based on an extra-marital affair.

Since ascending the throne in late 2016 following his late father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s death, the 66-year-old king has made several moves to consolidate control over the palace and in politics.

A three-time divorcee with seven children, the King ascended the throne unmarried.

His much-delayed coronation will take place on May 4, just one day ahead of the anniversary of Bhumibol’s coronation, nearly 70 years ago.

Atiku Made No Demands From Buhari - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday said it is untrue that its presidential candidate in the February 23 election, Atiku Abubakar, had made demands from President Muhammadu Buhari.

It said it was an absolute falsehood as well as a fabrication allegedly being peddled by the Presidency and the All Progressives Congress that Atiku had made some demands from Buhari.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan in a statement also stated categorically that Atiku had not, and will never make or accept any condition from Buhari regarding the February 23 presidential election, he alleged, was rigged.

According to him, Atiku rather clearly won the election.

He also raised the alarm that security men on Friday night besieged the residence of the Senate President, Dr.Bukola Saraki, who also is the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation.

According to him, there have been resumed harassments and fresh attacks on the PDP leaders by security men.

He said, “The Buhari Presidency and the APC know that their electoral robbery cannot stand before any noble justice and are now attempting to use all sorts of blackmail and shenanigans to derail the quest by Nigerians to reclaim the stolen mandate at the tribunal.

“However, let it be known to President Buhari and the APC that Atiku Abubakar and the PDP are standing shoulder to shoulder with Nigerians in this collective determination to take back the stolen mandate and we are not ready for any form of negotiation with anybody on this matter.

“Our party and candidate remain committed to the huge sacrifices made by Nigerians in ensuring our collective victory as delivered at the polling units across the country; we are mindful of the pains that Nigerians are passing through since the subversion of their will at the polls; we are sensitive to the expectations that millions of compatriots place on our shoulders in this struggle and we will never let Nigerians down.”

Ologbondiyan, who is also the Director, Media, and Publicity, PDP Presidential Campaign Organization said they had all the authentic results from all the polling units as well as forensic evidence of manipulations by the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He said they would present them all at the tribunal, adding that the court would give justice to Nigerians.
