Buhari Will Decide Next Senate President For Us - Senator

President Muhammadu Buhari will be a major determinant in who becomes the next head of the Senate and chairman of the National Assembly, a member of the upper legislative chamber, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has disclosed.

"Anybody who is going to be Senate president, in the 9th Senate, must be somebody who is loyal to Mr President, the party and the constitution. The Senate president will be determined by Mr President. Mr President will indicate to us through the party who he want to work with."

Omo-Agege who represents Delta Central senatorial district, said this while speaking with NAN in Warri, Delta state. The senator said Buhari and the ruling APC would avoid the 2015 mistake that led to the emergence of Sen. Bukola Saraki as the president of the Senate.

He claimed he was not aware if the APC had zoned the position of the Senate president to any region of the country. "But what I can tell you is that we are going to have a Senate that will work with Mr President. The era of allowing renegades who rode on the back of Mr President, who rode on the back of the party to go in there and trade the party’s mandate, I think that era is gone.

"I am very hopeful that this time around, Mr President will step in and decide not only the zone that will produce the Senate president and the leadership but also who should be.

"We don’t want to erect another opposition leader in the Senate, as we had in the 8th Assembly. There are a lot of us in the Senate who are returning to the next senate who fits into that position. We are so many but any decision the president makes, we will all fall in line and abide.

"We want President Buhari to succeed and it is all in our place, some of us who are close to him, to tell him certain calls he should not make because we know ourselves in the National Assembly and we do not want a repeat of the Saraki saga as we go back to the ninth Senate," he said.

I Quit My Marriage 3 Months After I Got Pregnant , Yvonne Jegede Opens Up On Marital Crisis

Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede has responded to tales about the perceived crisis in her marriage to Olakunle Abounce Fawole after the pair welcomed their four-month-old son, Xavier

Yvonne Jegede opened up on her troubled marriage to Pulse saying she quit the union three months after she got pregnant with their child.

"We started having issues before the birth of Xavier. I think I was about two to three months pregnant when the issues came. Immediately the issues came, there was never a dull moment, it just kept going up and up and it got worse and it got bad and today here we are," she began.

The actress with a career spanning 16 years said when the issues in her marriage to Abounce, a former rapper and actor, became obvious and irredeemable she moved out of their matrimonial home after a mutual agreement.

"Right now, we are not living together, and we are not living as husband and wife, we are not husband and wife anymore and I would say a mutual agreement to go our separate ways. It didn't work out, it wasn't working out," Jegede said.

The couple had their court and traditional wedding in 2017 and dated for close to 10 years.

The actress also addressed the rumours that her four month old son, Xavier is not for her estranged husband, Abounce.

Yvonne Jegede said Abounce can't deny the fact that Xavier is 100% his son.

"I don't call him. I only reached out to him when I feel the need to because he knows Xavier is his son, he is 100% sure he's his son," Jegede said reacting to the rumour about the paternity of her son.

Continuing, the actress said, "He's been to the house twice after we got back to the country, he's come to see his son twice and he has pictures with his son on his phone which I took so why he's not posting them, maybe his personal reasons, maybe he's not like me who is showing my joy to the world, I don't know but is that enough to give me a name? no, you don't give me a name like that, common, that is not right, people tried to bully me or make dry joke over this, about my life, would you be happy if I were your sister but anyways, I am here, I am strong and will be strong for my son. I have morals to set for him and what the world is about."

Iyabo Ojo Reveals She Once Breastfed Her Nephew

Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Iyabo Ojo has taken to her instagram page to celebrate her nephew on his matriculation and revealed how she breastfed her nephew when his mum's breast refused to produce milk.

Her words;

This handsome dude is my nephew, my brother's son.... but I call him my son because we share a mother & son relationship. I try not to steal the spot from his biological mum but today I just have to let you all know that I don’t have two kids but many.

My heart is filled with so much emotions, memories & above all gratitude to God. His mum had him 17 and a half years ago, at first he wouldn’t latch, when he did the mum’s breast refused to produce milk. We bought different types of milk but he kept throwing up.
It became obvious that he’s lost significant weight in two weeks. At this point, I decided to take charge, told the mum my intention and seek consent. He was brought to my house and I started breastfeeding him. (Priscy was six months old and still breastfeeding). Of course aunty Priscilla @its.priscy couldn’t understand why mum was sharing her booby 😂, she would hit, pinch and cry her eyes out each time I breastfed Mathew.

A lot happened after and Mathew continued to stay with me. It’s not been easy solely raising them all but today seeing Matthew and attending his matriculation, I feel blessed and happy that I got the parenting skills right.

Yes, I have failed in different ways but God has been so faithful to me and my household. The tears wouldn’t stop.... oh no, they are that of joy and fulfilment. @matto_xo I have witnessed today, may I witness your graduation and many more, please face your studies & never forget to always put God 1st, I love you & the rest of you..... congratulations son....... Mummy ❤❤❤❤

Demi Lovato & Henry Levy Splits

It's over between Demi Lovato and designer Henry Levy. The 26-year-old entertainer has parted ways with the fashion designer, 27, a source told People, adding that it was a misconception he ever served in the capacity of her sober coach.

The Sorry Not Sorry songstress and Levy, whose label is called Enfants Riches Déprimés, first made headlines last November when they stepped out for dinner in Los Angeles in the wake of her completion of a 90-day treatment program following a drug overdose last July.

An insider described Levy to the publication as 'someone she met years ago' who had 'been helping Demi stay on the right path.

'Demi has known Henry for years and wore his clothes in the past,' a separate source told the publication in November. 'He has a bit of a troubled past as well, but is doing well now. He will be great at supporting Demi’s sobriety.

'He is kind of an eccentric guy, but sweet. Demi won’t be bored with him. He is very creative and passionate about life.'

The Confident artist was seen on multiple outings with Levy as 2018 wound down, as they went to the celeb-packed Malibu restaurant Nobu in early December, and wrapped the year up with a trip to Aspen, Colorado. But unfortunately, it is over between them now.

PRESIDENT BUHARI URGES TRADITIONAL RULERS TO SUPPORT FIGHT AGAINST CRIMINALITY

President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday welcomed traditional rulers in the country to the “Next Level”, urging them to be prepared to play a crucial role in the prevention and detection of criminal activities in their domains.

Speaking while receiving members of the National Council of Traditional Rulers led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at State House, Abuja, the President noted that involving the royal fathers had become necessary in view of the deep knowledge of their localities.

According to him, “You know all the families who harbour criminals and you know those who produce respectable individuals. You know the weaknesses of our society. We need your support to consolidate our achievements.”

President Buhari listed several significant efforts by his administration to enhance national security while emphasising the overall need for stability in the country.

“What we need now is your support. No government can serve creditably without your support. We will always count on your support,” he told the traditional rulers.

The President also welcomed the royal fathers to his “second and final term, at the end of which I will, God willing, go to Daura and settle down.”

The Sultan of Sokoto and Co-Chairman of the Council, told President Buhari that the body “on behalf of all the Traditional Rulers in Nigeria, is here to congratulate you on your re-election as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Urging “all Nigerians to accept the election result as the will of God,” the Sultan assured the President of the traditional rulers’ “continued unflinching support in your laudable projects, particularly your government’s cardinal objectives of fighting corruption, containing insecurity, generally sanitizing the governance machinery, entrenching discipline, hard work and peaceful co-existence amongst the citizenry.”
The Co-Chairman of the Council and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, assured President Buhari that their members would work very closely with his administration to fight criminal activities.
The Ooni urged the re-elected Nigerian leader to be a President for the whole nation and father to all citizens.

Meghan Makes A Surprise Appearance At WE Day Event

The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance at an event celebrating young people today.

Pregnant Meghan, 37, joined Prince Harry, 34, after he delivered an empowering speech to thousands of screaming youngsters at the SSE Arena in Wembley, London.

After calling on young people to engage in social and environmental causes, Prince Harry said: 'I'm now going to drag my wife on stage,' prompting screams of delight from the audience.

He walked over to Meghan's seat and led her by hand into the spotlight, where they hugged and stood with their arms around each other as Harry told the crowd: 'I am with you, and we are with you'.

Mother-to-be Meghan, who is due in the coming weeks, beamed with pride during the brief appearance, gazing lovingly at her husband and standing back to allow him to revel in the applause.

The star-studded event, attended by celebrities including Naomi Campbell and Nicole Scherzinger, was held to mark WE Day UK, part of a global initiative to encourage young people to take part in positive social change.

Prince Harry's empowering speech in full

Hello We Day!
It’s a great privilege to be back in this exciting, buzzing space, this time as President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust; a platform we created for YOU where your ideas and creativity will be taken seriously – because it’s YOU that are making the most impact in your communities.
I am proud to stand before you and see you just as enthusiastic as I remembered.
With all of that activism, some might think you’d be exhausted – but look at you, (and listen to you) - you know the secret!
That in giving back, in fighting the good fight, it doesn’t exhaust you, it energizes you.
To be amongst all of you progressive, motivated, open minded, change-makers, is what gives me hope for the future.
Your optimism is inspiring - you see opportunities where other people see challenges; you seek solutions when others just focus on problems.
You are the most engaged generation in history. You care about values, doing the right thing, and championing the causes that will shape your future.
You don’t judge someone based on how they look, where they’re from, or how they identify.
In this room, you see the world for what it is - vibrant, colourful, mixed and full of promise.
That is who you are, and that is what makes me feel proud to stand in your presence as you tackle the world’s greatest issues. And you guys know as well as I do, we’ve still got so much to do.
As far as I see it, there are two absolutely crucial issues that we need to focus on, and my hope is that a 1000 more issues will be cured in the process.
First, let’s take OUR mental health; which you’ve embraced whole heartedly, breaking the generational stigma and helping to normalise the conversation.
After all, mental illness is about recovery, mental health is about consciousness, mental fitness is about well-being.
To be happy is to be mindful, mindful of your feelings, mindful of your surroundings, and mindful of the 7.7 billion other humans that inhabit this planet.
And while we’re on the topic of health, let’s talk about the health of our planet too.
Climate change, is a humanitarian issue not a political one, and one where we’ve been far too slow in waking up to the issues and acting on the damaging impact our ways of living are having on the world.
We now have the facts, the science, the technology and the ability to save not just our planet, but ourselves.
I know you don’t sit back and wait for solutions, you take action and create them.
Our world’s greatest assets are threatened every day and it is SO important that we support local communities to safeguard every element of this incredible world.
Every forest, every river, every ocean, every coastline, every insect, every wild animal. Every blade of grass, every ray of sun and every rain drop is crucial to our survival.
It is all connected, we are all inter-connected. You in this room understand that and are already making this a safer, healthier and more resilient home for all of us and for generations to come.
And for that I applaud you.
If we look at the world we’re living in, I know it can feel challenging sometimes, but your role is to shine the light.
Every day you are inundated with an overexposure of advertising and mainstream media, social media and endless comparisons, distorting the truth, and trying to manipulate the power of positive thinking. But you don’t let them sway you.
Because you don’t need to hide behind your device to share your voice. You confidently voice your opinions because you can embrace them proudly.
As my wife often reminds me with one of her favourite quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. - 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.'
You aren’t always going to agree, you may find yourselves frustrated with the older generation when it seems like they don’t care.
But try to remove that judgment.
Try to remember that not everyone sees the world the way you do, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care.
It means you have the incredible opportunity to help reshape mindsets, to empower those around you to think outside the box, and to work with you, not against you, to find solutions.
You know that if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.
So let that be your true north, let that be your call to action - to inspire those who stand for nothing, to stand for something -and to stand WITH you.
So what’s next, what’s on your to-do list starting now...
Be braver
Be stronger
Be kind to each other
Be kind to yourselves
Have less screen time, and more face to face time
Exceed expectations
Eliminate plastics
Conserve water
Protect wildlife and their unique habitat
Keep empathy alive
Ask your friends how they are doing and listen to the answer
Be honest
Take risks
Change your thoughts and change the world
Dare to be the greatest generation of all time
I am with you, we are with you!
