Saraki's Seat: South-South Moves To Take Over

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South have demanded the position of the Senate President. They made the demand in a congratulatory message to President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the February 23 presidential election.

In a statement on Wednesday, the APC Vice-Chairman South-South, Ntufam Etta, said, “Our zone has and will continue to play pivotal roles in order to help our dear country achieve and realise all its potential.

“The leadership of our great party in the zone has done
extreme hard work towards stabilising the polity to ensure that business thrives in the region, and also informing our youths that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.

“We appreciate all the leaders of the zone and we are grateful that our youths have reciprocated the good gesture of Mr President by embracing peace as a panacea for continuous development of our region in particular, and the country in general. Gone are the days when youths restiveness will impede development.”

He added, “We recall that when our son, Senator Joseph Wayas, held sway as Senate President, he did our zone and the country very proud. During his tenure, we saw a harmonious working relationship between the executive, legislature and the judiciary; and the benefit at this was for all Nigerians.

“Therefore, a Senate President from the South-South zone will stabilise the polity, focus on its statutory role of making laws. Furthermore, a Senate President from the region will avoid unnecessary clashes with the executive as has been witnessed in the recent past.”

Okorocha Planning To Rig The Election For His Son-in-law - APC's Uzodinma Cries Out

Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma has alleged Governor Rochas Okorocha has perfected plans to unleash mayhem on APC members.

“While we have been busy campaigning across the nook and cranny of the state, Okorocha... is threatening everybody that he will... chase us away..

“I am proud that I delivered my polling unit, ward and local government to President Buhari. But Rochas’ son in-law, Uche Nwosu, who boasted that himself and his boss will give the President one million votes, lost his unit, ward and local government to PDP."

He spoke when 53 groups, including market women in the 27 councils endorsed him for governor.
“We are begging Okorocha to allow the people of Imo to elect who will be their governor. I urge security agencies to cut the excesses of the governor, else he will throw this state into chaos due to his ambition, because we will not fold our arms and allow Okorocha steal our votes.

“When a governor starts acting like a rascal it is going to create crisis. We are ready to cast our votes and we are not afraid of anybody. We urge security agencies to be on the alert. We are not worried because I am going to win. We are glad that we have Federal Government forces that will provide security... So our people should go out and cast their votes and we will protect the votes,” he said.

Female Doctor Opens Up: I Lost My Senses After My Boyfriend Forced Me To Wear Pants

A 32-year-old physiotherapist at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, Rachael Godwin, on Wednesday narrated how her boyfriend, a suspected Internet fraudster simply identified as Olumide, forced her to wear pants, which he allegedly used for money rituals.

She said Olumide, in connivance with a friend, forced her to wear pants for money rituals.

Rachael said she met Olumide in January 2018 on a Bus Rapid Transit vehicle travelling from Ikorodu to Ikeja. She added that she did not know how she fell in love with him soon after they met to the extent of giving him her savings and paid his hotel bill of N185,000 for four months.

Rachael stated, “I met Olumide in January 2018 on a BRT vehicle that was travelling to Ikeja from Ikorodu. I work at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, as a physiotherapist.

“We started talking and became close friends and lovers. He told me that he had gonorrhoea and I treated him. I guess he must have hypnotised me such that I really didn’t know what I was doing. I gave him my entire savings; he even lodged at a hotel at Kosofe, Ketu, for four months and I paid the bill of N185,000.

“He later took me to his father at Ikosi. They live in a very unhealthy environment, which made me to pity them and I offered to help. I rented a house for myself in November 2018 and he visited me in the house that same month.”

Rachael added that on December 12, 2018, when Olumide visited, he told her that he wanted to buy a Toyota Venza and she asked him how much it would cost.

She said Olumide searched on the Internet and told her that the vehicle would cost N11.8m. She explained that when she asked him how he would raise the money for the car, he requested that they should open a joint account for that purpose.

Rachael said, “I used my land documents to get a loan and even promised to gather all I had in my account. My trouble started on December 14, 2018, when he came to my house and gave me one of my pants to wear.

“I refused to wear the pants because I was not comfortable with the request. He called one of my neighbours, Helen, who helped him to force me to wear the pants. After I was forced to wear the pants, I lost my senses and was taken to my mother’s house.

“I was taken to Ibadan for treatment and I got better. I did not suspect him then. I kept relating with him. On December 31, 2018, I went to a church for thanksgiving. I was given some prayer points to be said at midnight.

“While I was praying sometime in January, Olumide started shouting, ‘Stop praying, they have wired the money, it is only $2,000 from Alaska in the USA.

Rachael reported her boyfriend to the police and he was subsequently arrested.

Olumide, who is being detained at the state police command headquarters deny the allegations made by Rachael, but reportedly said in his confessional statement that he was shocked to discover that the $2,000 he got from the United States amounted to only N750,000.

He said he gave Helen N300,000 and also gave part of the money to an unnamed man.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Mu’azu, that the case was still being investigated at the command headquarters and that Olumide would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.

Meanwhile, the command has also said that its operatives have arrested eight suspected armed robbers, who have been terrorising residents of Oworonshoki, Bariga and Gbagada areas of the state.

Oti gave the names of the suspects as Seye Yinka, Olasunkanmi Jacob, Yemi Sodiq, Isaac Akinse, Toyin Olokodana, Damilola Ogunderu, Ahmed Saliu and Babatunde Sunday. They were said to have been arrested on Wednesday in their hideout in the Ifako-Ijaye area after the command received an intelligence report on the activities of the gang.

President Buhari's Boys Attack Obasanjo

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has claimed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s statement that he will continue to criticise President Muhammadu Buhari if he refuses to change for the better is a confirmation that his pre-election criticism was fuelled by ego.

The pro-Buhari group said this in reply to Obasanjo who said on Tuesday in Abeokuta that he would continue to criticise the President until “he begins to do the right things.”

The BMO in a statement signed by its Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju, and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, on Wednesday said it was worrisome that Obasanjo had always insinuated that all the past heads of state and Presidents he had criticised did not perform creditably in office.

“It is amusing that the former President gave the impression that his criticism of President Buhari which began in January 2018 is borne out of a need for him to do the right thing.

“Does it then mean that the President had been performing to Obasanjo’s expectations until then? If not, at what point did he realise that President Buhari had not been doing well; or did Obasanjo notice that only in January last year when he went public with the first of his open letters?

“Obasanjo’s comments at the public lecture in commemoration of his 82nd birthday can also be interpreted to mean that no President aside from former President Obasanjo did the right things in office.

“This shows that his criticism of President Buhari and former occupants of that position is largely ego-driven and is certainly not altruistic.”

The pro-Buhari group added that in terms of performance, Obasanjo had a lot of baggage in office, adding that the former President was not known to be tolerant of criticism.

Buhari Has Subverted Supreme Court, Atiku may not get justice – Agbakoba

A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Dr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), has said he is in support of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar’s decision to challenge the result of the February 23 presidential poll in court.

He, however, expressed doubts that Atiku would get justice because “President Muhammadu Buhari has subverted the Supreme Court by the removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Walter Onnoghen, and the appointment of the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.”

Agbakoba, who had earlier urged Atiku not to go to court to challenge the poll result, said his earlier advice was based on his view that the PDP presidential candidate would face “an uphill task, given the circumstances of challenging election results” in the country.

He said from his experience as one of Nigeria’s experienced election petitions lawyers, the burden of proof to succeed in an election petition “is unfairly huge.”

“We first have to prove that there are electoral irregularities and in my view, once you prove this, you should succeed. Unfortunately, even if you prove electoral irregularities you will have to show how that affected the results of the election.

“Remember that the gap between former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, and President Muhammadu Buhari is about four million votes. It is clear to me that the presidential election results were manifestly riddled with electoral irregularities.

“Now that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has approached the court, it is important to emphasise that he is constitutionally entitled to do so. My personal advice has become irrelevant. I fully support and wish former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar every success,” Agbakoba said.

He, however, bemoaned the delay by the National Judicial Council in dealing with the case of the suspended Justice Onnoghen and the acting CJN, Justice Tanko.

He said, “My perception is that we need to resolve the status of the Supreme Court. I wonder what is taking the National Judicial Council so long. I am also worried about the historical precedent, as no petition on presidential election result has ever succeeded.”

Court Affirms Kashamu As Ogun PDP Gov Candidate

The Federal High Court, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, affirmed the Senator representing Ogun East, Buruji Kashamu, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State.

The court dismissed the suit filed by a member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, challenging the nomination of  Kashamu as the party’s candidate.

The presiding judge, Justice Abubakar Shittu, held that the case was statute-barred, having been caught up with the fourth alteration.

The court held that the cause of action arose on the April 12, 2018, whereas the suit was filed in December 2018.

Photo: Man Caught With Human Skull In Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command, on Wednesday in Ibadan, paraded a 30-year-old suspected Fulani man, Musa Ahmed, who was allegedly caught with a human skull in Ogbomoso.

Ahmed and another man, who is currently at large, were reportedly intercepted in a commercial vehicle by operatives of the Igbeti Area Command, led by ASP Tajudeen Toys, during a stop and search, and a human skull was found in a bag suspected to belong to the suspect.

Ahmed, however, told Punch correspondent that he was innocent of the crime and was only implicated because he is from the Fulani tribe.

He said, “I went to the motor park to board a car travelling to Ogbomoso from Ilesa Baruba in Kwara State. That was not my first time of travelling through that route. I put my bag in the booth of the vehicle like every other passenger.

“When the police stopped us to check our luggage, my bag was near that of another passenger, who took to his heels as soon as the bags were being checked. Three policemen ran after him but couldn’t catch him.

“So they said I knew about the skull they found in his bag. I was accused because I was the only Fulani man in the vehicle.”

Ahmed, who claimed to be a farmer and a herder, is set to be charged to court by the police after a detailed investigation by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Iyaganku Ibadan.

Khloe Kardashian Shares Poems On Breakup As She’s Unable To Sleep

Khloe Kardashian has plenty on her mind in recent days. And the newly single reality star seemed to be brooding on things, as she battled insomnia in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after a night spent posting reflective poems to Instagram Stories.

Posting to the social media site, on which she has an incredible 88.5million followers, Khloe wrote:

'My talent: Not sleeping at night.' She used the time stamp 4:01am on her post.

The post followed a series of other updates from the 34-year-old, with Khloe sharing poems that seemed to give an insight into her feelings following last week's public betrayal by her baby daddy, Tristan Thompson.

Always a fan of the inspirational quote, she posted The Truth About Your Heart by Nikita Gill, which begins: 'Your heart will fix itself. It's your mind you need to worry about.

'Your mind where you locked the memories, your mind where you have kept pieces of the ones that hurt you, that still cut you like shards of glass.

'Your mind will keep you up at night, make you cry, destroy you over and over again. You need to convince your mind that it has to let go…because your heart already knows how to heal.'
Gill was an inspiration to the wronged mom-of-one, with Khloe also sharing another of her works.

'The saddest word in the whole wide world is the world is almost. He was almost in love. She was almost too good for him. He almost stopped her. She almost waited. He almost lived. '

Khloe's musings come amid reports that he little sister Kylie Jenner has fallen out with her former BFF Jordyn Woods, who was caught making out with Tristan at a house party last week.

Rich Kidnapper Evans Goes 'Broke', No Cash For Lawyer

The inability of alleged kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, to pay for his legal representation has stalled two trials which are before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of an Ikeja Special Offences Court.

Mr Chinoye Obiagwu (SAN), the counsel to Evans and
Chiemeka Arinze his co-defendant in one of the kidnap cases, had written to the court to request for adjournment in both cases. Portions of the letter dated March 4 and signed by Mr Noel Brown on behalf of Obiagwu was read in court by Mr Abiodun Alagbe, the state prosecutor.

Excerpts of the letter read: “Now that he (Obiagwu) is on hand to lead the defence, he finds that the families of the defendants are yet to provide some necessary yet critical obligations, which to prevent any embarrassment, and for the safety and well being of the defendants, who are still being held in custody, he (Obiagwu) would not want disclosed to the open court.”
After he had read portions of the letter, Alagbe noted that Evans’ defence team were also absent in court during the on Feb. 6.

Reacting to the letter, Justice Taiwo registered her displeasure at the request for an adjournment.

“It is ridiculous that we should wait for the first defendant (Evans) and his counsel to negotiate for a case that is already in court,” she said.

The Judge, however, acceded to the request and granted different adjournment dates for the two suits.

Man Who Drank Gutter Water After Buhari’s Victory Is Very Much Alive

Haruna Bala, the man who had said if President Buhari wins the just concluded Presidential election, that he will swim and drink gutter water is ALIVE. In our earlier report, multiple online sources had said, Bala lost his life after swimming and drinking gutter water.

But a new confirmation from Daily Trust proves Bala is still very much alive, and not just alive, but active too.

Though he kept to his promise of swimming and drinking the gutter water, Daily Trust quotes Bala as saying;

“It is true, I made the promise before the elections and I fulfilled it and I have no regrets. As I am talking to you now, I am on my way back to Bauchi after we finished a painting work somewhere outside Bauchi." Lobatan!
