Four years after first revealing to fans her mom was diagnosed with cancer, Taylor Swift has now shared again that her mom is once again facing the disease.
“I’ve had to learn how to handle serious illness in my family. Both of my parents have had cancer, and my mom is now fighting her battle with it again,” the Grammy winner, 29, wrote.
“It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else,” she continued. “My mom’s cancer is a real problem. I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs. I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now.”
In April of 2015, Swift posted to Tumblr about Andrea’s difficult news.
“Hey Guys,
“I’m writing to you with an update I wish I wasn’t giving you, but it’s important and I’m used to sharing important events in my life with you. Usually when things happen to me, I process them and then write music about how I feel, and you hear it much later. This is something my family and I thought you should know about now.
“For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine. She agreed, and went in to get checked. There were no red flags and she felt perfectly fine, but she did it just to get me and my brother off her case about it.
“The results came in, and I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. I’d like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know.
“She wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything they’ve got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle. Or peace of mind in knowing that they’re healthy and there’s nothing to worry about. She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour. She’s got an important battle to fight.
“Thank you for caring about my family so much that she would want me to share this information with you. I hope and pray that you never get news like this.
President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians to come out en’ masse to vote in the Governorship and States National Assembly polls, urging them to make Saturday’s elections better than that of February 23, 2019. Read the President’s full statement below…
“PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS ON THE FORTHCOMING GUBERNATORIAL ELECTIONS
6th March 2019
The second and final phase of the 2019 general elections comes up on Saturday, March 9, with Nigerians voting for governors and members of Houses of Assembly in the states.
Let me once again extend my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives or sustained injuries as a result of accidents or criminal violence during the elections.
The onus is once again on qualified people to turn out in large numbers to exercise their civic rights.
With the presidential poll behind us, let us not become complacent, and fail to vote in the gubernatorial poll.
The forthcoming elections are as important for good governance as that of the presidency and the National Assembly.
Indeed, governance at the state level is closer to us, and should touch our lives more directly. That is why it is vital for us to participate in the choice of who governs us at the state levels.
I, therefore, urge you to troop out massively on Saturday to elect your governors and state lawmakers.
As a member of the All Progressives Congress, I recommend those standing on the platform of the party to you, as we are guided by progressive ideals, and we will not disappoint you.
Equally, I urge you to comport yourself properly, as you turn out for the election.
Avoid all deviant behaviours like ballot stuffing, ballot snatching, and any other action that does not conform with best electoral practices.
I assure you that the security agencies will be on hand to protect voters, and ensure that the process is not undermined in anyway.
Let’s make the gubernatorial polls much better than the presidential, which Local and International observers have adjudged to be free and fair.
May I repeat my appeal to our young people: do not allow yourselves to be used to cause violence or to break the law or otherwise disturb the peace.
I have pledged a decent and credible electoral system for our country. I stand by that promise.
Let us together do the right thing on Saturday, so that the best hands can emerge at the states, and take us faster to the Next Level.
Lover boy! Chance the Rapper is about to marry the love of his life.
The Chicago rapper will wed his childhood sweetheart, Kirsten Corley, this weekend. Taking to Twitter, he shared their love story, which began when the two met at his mother’s office party in 2003, where Destiny’s Child was billed as the entertainment.
“We were instructed to make way for an exclusive performance by DESTINY’S CHILD!!” said Chance. “From the back stepped out 3 young girls… Who were not Destiny’s Child.”
As the girl group performed “Independent Women,” he made eye contact with his future fiancée, who was among the trio. “Now I’m locking eyes with the prettiest girl I ever seen in my almost-a-decade of life on earth,” he gushed.
“I was just staring at her; as she and her girls were conquering the choreography and mastering the art of lip-syncing in a way even the most professional performers have yet to accomplish.”
At one point, his father encouraged him to join in, but he decided against it. “Not just because it wasn’t my party, not because it was their moment to dance, not even cause I was nervous about dancing in front of folks,” said Chance. “Its cause I knew I was gonna marry that girl. And I aint wanna jump the gun.”
At the end of his story, he revealed that he and Corley are set to tie the knot this weekend. “16 years later it’s happening This wknd is the time, and the place is my wedding,” he said. “I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”
While he didn’t offer more details, one thing is known: Chance and his bride will be getting down to the “Tootsee Roll.” “YOU KNOW I WILL,” he told a fan.
Chance proposed to Corley during a backyard party on the Fourth of July last year. The couple shares a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Kensli Bennett.
management of Parrot 101.1. FM, Ogbomoso on Wednesday turned down the appearance of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde, billed for a live political interview programme with the station.
Makinde had left Ibadan as early as 8am to honour the programme billed to commence by 11am but the station hurriedly shut doors against him upon arrival.
His convoy had arrived the station at about 10:50am for the scheduled live interview programme but was flagged down and told that ‘the management had put the programme on hold.’
Parrot FM is owned by a former governor of the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, who recently aligned his political structure with the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, after a parley he had with the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The General Manager of the station, Mr Ademola Adeniyi, who conveyed the message to the PDP governorship candidate, said he received the “message from the administration department who invited Makinde and his APC counterpart, Adelabu.”
Adeniyi insisted that he had a mandate that Makinde be recorded, to give room for the interview of Adelabu, who was being expected at the time.
The development angered Makinde’s Director of Media, Mr. Dotun Oyelade who questioned Adeniyi on the sudden change of agreement from a live interview to a recorded programme.
The PDP governorship candidate later issued a statement wherein he decried the last-minute stoppage of a live interview programme, which he claimed he paid for.
The statement from his campaign organisation, signed by Oyelade, claimed that Makinde had booked and paid for the one-hour slot, 48 hours in advance and came to Ogbomoso for the programme only to be turned back at the gate with the excuse that the slot had been allocated to his rival, Mr Bayo Adelabu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
Makinde told journalists and his teeming supporters that apart from being unconstitutional, it was democratically repugnant for anyone to deny the other the right of reply.
He said Akala did not want him to expose him any further to the true reason why he joined the APC, a move that had diminished his political rating significantly.
Makinde promised to bring the attention of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission to the incident.
He told the former governor, “You can bar me from your radio station, but you cannot debar me from the Government House if it is the wish of the Lord and the people.”
He later went to Ajilete FM, also in Ogbomoso where he fielded questions in a live interview programme of the station.

Pirates attacked a ship with 21 Romanian sailors aboard near a port in Togo and kidnapped three of the sailors. Romania’s Free Trade Union of Navigators (SLN) first announced the incident, which took place on Sunday evening.
"MAE, through a press release, confirmed that the pirates kidnaped three Romanian natives, and the rest of the crew managed to arrive on time in the pre-established safe place in case of pirate attack."
The pirates left the area after the attack and the ship was escorted into the safe anchorage area off the port of Lome. The case is now under the responsibility of the designated entities that will take appropriate measures to ensure that seafarers are released safely, according to SLN.
The union warns that pirate incidents have increased in intensity in the Guinea Bay area, to unprecedented levels, which affects seafarers and global shipping.
The attacked ship, Histria Ivory, under Maltese flag, transports petrochemical goods from Togo to Liberia. Its entire crew consists of Romanian sailors.

Tristan appears to be moving on from Khloe Kardashian and Jordyn Woods ... because the NBA star is going back for seconds with his mystery chick in New York City.
Tristan was hanging with the same woman from last week's dinner at Carbone in NYC, and the pair hit up Nobu for more good eats.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are in town again to play the Brooklyn Nets, so Tristan is taking advantage of the NBA schedule to log some more quality time with his mystery boo. And, he's gotta love being far away from the drama he triggered last month, when he was caught making out with Jordyn at a house party in Los Angeles. But women tho... he is into a shit with one… and then you step in… oh okay.. queen, that no man can hurt. Time will tell LOL.
This young woman has lost her life in a most sad manner. Friends and colleagues are mourning the death of Abimbola Sogbesan popularly called Orekelewa, who was crushed to death yesterday along Sagamu Abeokuta express road in Ogun state.
The accident also claimed two other lives. It was learnt the accident occurred by Muhammadu Buhari Estate, at about 1:00p.m. while a rescue operation was going on.
It was gathered that while a rescue team was carrying out a rescue operation, an oncoming truck on full speed left the cordoned off road to the road shoulder where it crushed the three persons to death.
The state sector commander of FRSC, Clement Oladele, said that three vehicles were involved in the accident, while six persons – three male adults and three female adults –were involved in the accident. Of the casualties, two female adults and one male adult were killed. How sad.
The Presidency has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari and his government will not allow those they describe as saboteurs occupy the leadership position in the Ninth National Assembly.
According to a senior aide, the President will ensure that only
persons selected by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) will be Senate President and other principal officers of both the Red and Green chambers.
“Even as the President has no preferred candidates for the position of the principal officer of the parliament, he is ready and willing to support the decision of the leadership of the party in line with worked out zoning arrangements”, the aide said.
He told The Nation that the Presidency had never had it smooth with the relationship that existed between it and the leadership of the eight National Assembly and will, therefore, not fold its arms while another set of unfriendly characters take charge in the next dispensation.
He said: “Be rest assured that the President will not micro-manage the process electing the National Assembly leadership but he will not allow the lawlessness that happened in 2015 to repeat itself.
“The President will allow the decision of the party to remain supreme. Once the party zones the positions, he will give maximum support to it.
“It is not like before, now, the decision of the party is supreme. You see what has happened to the two governors. In the past, this won’t have been possible. What I can tell you is that the President doesn’t have any preferred candidates.”
A Thai multi-millionaire farm owner is promising a whooping £240,000 (N114,015,961) – as well as his entire estate – to the man who marries his 26-year-old virgin daughter.
Arnon Rodthong, 58, who owns a prosperous Durian Fruit Ffarm in Chumphon province, southern Thailand, has taken the matter of his daughter Karnsita’s future into his own hands.
In his bizarre ‘offer’, the father highlights that his daughter,
who helps him run the family business, speaks fluent English and Chinese and is a virgin. In some parts of Thailand, custom dictates that a man should pay a dowry for his future wife, but Mr Rodthong says he would waive this ‘fee’.
Instead he’ll give his future son-in-law ten million Thai baht (£240,000), as well as his sprawling durian farm, valued at several million pounds. Mr Rodthong says there are no restrictions on what nationality the successful ‘husband’ should be – as long as they ‘work hard and make Karnsita happy’.
He said: ‘I want someone to take care of my business and make it last. I don’t want a person with a bachelor’s, or master’s or philosopher’s degree. I want a diligent man. I just want someone with a hard-working attitude. That’s all.’
Despite having several other children of his own, including sons who would traditionally inherit the business, he adds: ‘As soon as I have an in-law, I will give up all my assets to him.’
R&B singer R. Kelly has been taken into custody during a hearing in Chicago over unpaid child support.
The 52-year-old told a judge on Wednesday he could not pay $161,000 in back child support he owes his ex-wife and the mother of his three children, Andrea Kelly.
He left the courtroom with his lawyers through a different door than he had entered. His hands weren't cuffed.
Cook County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari says Kelly was taken into custody and will be transferred to the county jail.
She says she doesn't know the reason he was taken into custody, including whether it had to do with unpaid child support he owes.
Kelly attended the child support hearing while out on bail in a criminal case accusing him of sexually abusing four women years ago, including three who were underage at the time.
It comes just hours after the broadcast of an interview on CBS This Morning in which the R&B star cried and ranted about being 'assassinated' by allegations of sexual abuse.
"Shahs of Sunset" star Shervin Roohparvar is suing a woman he claims is trying to extort him for hundreds of thousands of dollars after alleging he tried to slip her a date rape drug.
According to new legal documents, Shervin says he met up with the woman in Vegas last December after the two connected on social media.
Shervin claims they met at his hotel, had a drink and chatted before he told her he had to get ready for a business engagement. He claims the woman, without warning, started shouting obscenities -- accusing him of slipping her a drug and bolted from the room.
The lawsuit alleges the woman also told cops he'd drugged her, but cops took no action against him. About a month after the confrontation, Shervin says he got a letter from her agent threatening to rat him out to production companies about the incidents unless he forked over $350k. Shervin is suing the woman for the alleged extortion.
