Suspected thugs imported from another state have been apprehended in Akwa Ibom state, ahead of this Saturday’s governorship election. The suspects were rounded up on Thursday morning by agile youths who stormed EverBee Hotel along Idoro road in Uyo, the state capital.
Over 32 of the suspected political tugs were nabbed. According to the youths, the suspects will be handed over to the police as the law demands.
One of the suspects who revealed he’s from Benin city in Edo state, claimed that they were brought to the state to monitor the election as observers of INEC. He also revealed that they were at the hotel to receive the money that will be shared to them.
This is coming after many thugs in buses were arrested by police few days ago in same Akwa Ibom.
In what will come across as a really shocking development, a man has found a dead snake on his door. The man identified only as Humble Joseph, told his story in a Facebook group and asked friends to thank God with him. He came home and saw the dead snake hanging.
Apparently, the dangerous reptile had been trying to gain access into the house but got stuck and died.

According to a Reuters report, Blessing Obuson thought Russia’s soccer World Cup would be an opportunity to find a job and flew into Moscow from Nigeria last June on a fan ID. Instead, she found herself forced to work as a pros-titute.
She said her madam had confiscated her passport and told her she’d only get it back once she’d worked off a fictional debt of $50,000. Blessing told her story to a rare English-speaking client who got anti-slavery activists involved.
Two Nigerians were later arrested and charged with human trafficking after striking a deal to sell Blessing for two million rubles (around $30,000) to a police officer posing as a client, according to her lawyer, statements from prosecutors, and evidence presented at court hearings in the case attended by Reuters journalists. More investigations are ongoing in the case.
Olawale Aderibigbe, a 33-year-old suspect, yesterday confessed to the police in Lagos that what he needed was just the security code of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card to withdraw all the money in a victim’s account.
The suspect was arrested by police detectives at
Surulere area of the metropolis after much surveillance. Aderibigbe, a suspected fraudster cum robber, used to rob people of their ATM cards, which he later used to withdraw money.
It was learnt that the Intelligence Unit of the command had been on the trail of the suspect for a long time before he was arrested on February 18, at his hideout.
The state Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, told journalists at the command headquarters, Ikeja that the suspect belonged to a syndicate which specialised in robbing people of their ATM cards.
He said: “The suspect confessed during interrogation that he and his partners had stolen money from many peoples’ accounts through ATM cards, which they stole from people at gunpoint. We are working assiduously to track down other members of the gang and brought them to book.”
Aderibigbe told journalists that he could withdraw money, using any ATM card as long as the card had security code.
He said: “The security code is what I need. I have software. If I insert the security code, details of the person would come out and the amount the person has in the account. My colleagues and I have made money through this.”
Recalling how he was arrested, Aderibigbe explained that he was at home on that fateful day, when he received a call from a friend. “My friend called me that he had another ATM card. I was going there when police arrested me,” he added.
The police are making concerted efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.

This is the moment a groom slapped his new bride in front of stunned wedding guests after she took away his slice of cake.
The newlyweds were sharing the first pieces of their wedding cake following the ceremony when the groom suddenly snapped.
The footage starts with the bride, dressed in a beautiful white gown and tiara, with her veil over her face.
She is helped to lift her veil back as her groom, dressed in a black suit, holds a slice of cake to her mouth.
It is then the bride's turn to select a piece of the same cake for her new husband.
She can be seen holding the cake, before playfully moving it away as he went to eat it.
But the groom saw red and slapped her hard across the face.
His smack was so violent the stunned bride fell backwards on to a chair as women around her looked shocked.
The groom who was saying something to his new wife, was quickly pulled away by another man.
The woman can be seen holding her face as others rush to see if she is ok.
It is not clear if the wedding day for the unidentified pair continued as planned following the attack.
It is also not known when or where the footage was recorded.
Barely 48 hours to Saturday’s governorship poll, Mallam Abdullahi Garba Faskari, former Deputy Governor of Katsina State during Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration led by Ibrahim Shehu Shema,has formally left the party.
Addressing newsmen in Katsina yesterday, Fasakri goaded the people of the state to be wary of PDP and its governorship candidate, Senator Yakubu Lado, and endeavor to vote for ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer and incumbent governor, Aminu Bello Masari, in Saturday March 9th poll.
According to him, “the APC has a better candidate than PDP and if I am voting, I will vote for that of APC. Up till now, I have not heard that Katsina State Government could not afford to pay salaries.”
A statue of Michael Jackson has been removed from the National Football Museum in Manchester.
Its removal comes as sexual abuse allegations against the singer are detailed in a new documentary film.
The statue was commissioned by Fulham's then chairman Mohammed Al Fayed following Jackson's death in June 2009.
The National Football Museum (NFM) said the statue had been taken off display as part of "ongoing plans" to "better represent" football's stories.
Two men, James Safechuck and Wade Robson, allege in the Channel 4 documentary, Leaving Neverland, that they were sexually abused by the superstar.
There have been reports of radio stations dropping Jackson's music from their playlists, while some fans on social media have said they are boycotting the star.
An NFM spokesperson said: "Plans have been under way for a number of months to remove the Michael Jackson statue from display as part of our ongoing plans to better represent the stories we want to tell about football.
"As a result of this, the statue has now been removed."

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on March 6, 2019, arraigned Tunde Ayeni, a former Chairman, Board of Directors, Skye Bank Plc, before Justice Valentine Ashi of a Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, Apo on a four-count charge, bordering on criminal breach of trust to the tune of N4,597,500,000.
Mr Ayeni was arraigned along with Timothy Oguntayo, for allegedly conspiring at different times to fraudulently divert depositors’ funds domiciled at Skye Bank Plc to personal use.
One of the counts reads: “That you, Tunde Ayeni, whilst being the Chairman, Board of Directors of the defunct Skye Bank Plc and Timothy Ajani Oguntayo, while being the Managing Director, MD of the defunct Skye Bank Plc on or about October 16, 2014 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, whilst being bankers entrusted with property, to wit: depositors’ funds in the defunct Skye Bank Plc’s Suspense Account, committed criminal breach of trust in respect of the sum of N1,000,000,000 (One Billion Naira) and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 315 of the Penal Code.”
They pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.
The counsel to the first defendant, Dele Adesina, who held brief for the lead counsel, Wole Olanipekun, informed the court of their pending bail application, which was served on the prosecution on December 13, 2018.
The trial judge, thereafter, admitted them to bail in the sum of N500 million with two sureties each in like sum, who must be resident in Abuja, and must own a landed property “of sufficient value”, within Abuja metropolis.
The matter was, thereafter, adjourned to May 14, 2019, for “commencement of trial.”

Let me once again extend my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives or sustained injuries as a result of accidents or criminal violence during the elections.
The onus is once again on qualified people to turn out in large numbers to exercise their civic rights.
With the presidential poll behind us, let us not become complacent, and fail to vote in the gubernatorial poll.
The forthcoming elections are as important for good governance as that of the presidency and the National Assembly.
Indeed, governance at the state level is closer to us, and should touch our lives more directly. That is why it is vital for us to participate in the choice of who governs us at the state levels.
I, therefore, urge you to troop out massively on Saturday to elect your governors and state lawmakers.
As a member of the All Progressives Congress, I recommend those standing on the platform of the party to you, as we are guided by progressive ideals, and we will not disappoint you.
Equally, I urge you to comport yourself properly, as you turn out for the election.
Avoid all deviant behaviours like ballot stuffing, ballot snatching, and any other action that does not conform with best electoral practices.
I assure you that the security agencies will be on hand to protect voters, and ensure that the process is not undermined in anyway.
Let’s make the gubernatorial polls much better than the presidential, which Local and International observers have adjudged to be free and fair.

The Chicago rapper will wed his childhood sweetheart, Kirsten Corley, this weekend. Taking to Twitter, he shared their love story, which began when the two met at his mother’s office party in 2003, where Destiny’s Child was billed as the entertainment.
“We were instructed to make way for an exclusive performance by DESTINY’S CHILD!!” said Chance. “From the back stepped out 3 young girls… Who were not Destiny’s Child.”
As the girl group performed “Independent Women,” he made eye contact with his future fiancée, who was among the trio. “Now I’m locking eyes with the prettiest girl I ever seen in my almost-a-decade of life on earth,” he gushed.
“I was just staring at her; as she and her girls were conquering the choreography and mastering the art of lip-syncing in a way even the most professional performers have yet to accomplish.”
At one point, his father encouraged him to join in, but he decided against it. “Not just because it wasn’t my party, not because it was their moment to dance, not even cause I was nervous about dancing in front of folks,” said Chance. “Its cause I knew I was gonna marry that girl. And I aint wanna jump the gun.”
