Court Upholds Dapo Abiodun As Ogun APC Governorship Candidate

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on Thursday upheld the candidacy of Mr Adedapo Abiodun as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi dismissed the suit brought by an APC member, AbdulRafiu Baruwa, ahead of Saturday’s governorship and house of assembly elections in the state.

In the suit, Baruwa had prayed the court to disqualify the APC candidate on the ground that he provided false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in his Form CF 001.

He also sought that Abiodun be disqualified from the governorship race for alleged concealment and deliberate refusal to supply details of his educational qualifications to INEC as require by law, so as to escape punishment for infringement on the law.

Specifically, the plaintiff claimed that the APC candidate claimed in the 2015 senatorial election form for Ogun East to have graduated from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, but in the 2019 governorship form, the candidate was said to have claimed to possess only secondary school education.

He asserted that Abiodun deliberately concealed his university education because of his alleged non-participation in the mandatory National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) for Nigerians who are 30 years and below as at the time of graduation.

Baruwa insisted that wilful concealment or refusal to disclose detail of educational background amounted to false information and applied for an order of the court to disqualify the APC candidate.

He also sought another order of the court to replace Abiodun with one Jimi Lawal who was said to have come second in the primary election conducted by the party for the nomination of governorship candidate in Ogun State.

In his judgment, Justice Adeniyi, however, held that Section 177 of the 1999 Constitution cannot be invoked to disqualify the APC candidate because participation in the NYSC scheme was not a condition for qualification for governorship election.

He also held that the failure to include university education in the Form CF 001 submitted to INEC by Abiodun cannot be used to nullify his nomination.

APC Protests At INEC Office, Wants Election Postponed

Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu state, on Thursday, protested at the office of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, asking for postponement of the governorship and state Assembly elections scheduled.

In a protest at the INEC office in Enugu, Chairman of the party in the state, Dr Ben Nwoye accused the Resident commissioner, Dr Emeka Ononamadu of compromise prior to the election. Nwoye Speaking on behalf of his large followers at the INEC office accused the electoral commissioner of giving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, officials unfettered access to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in Enugu, where the sensitive materials were allegedly distributed on Wednesday.

Nwoye also alleged that the commission had indeed given the result sheets and other sensitive materials to the PDP stalwarts and demanded for postponement of the election to remedy the situation.

He also said that because of the earlier removal of the candidate of the party from INEC manifest, the party supports were dissuaded, but that now the mandate has been restored to Eze, the party needed extended time to re-prepare for the election.

PDP's Gbenga Daniel Directs Supporters To Vote For APC's Dapo Abiodun

Gbenga Daniel, a former Governor of Ogun State and Director General of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign organisation, has directed the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Remo, Ogun State, to vote for Dapo Abiodun, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.

Daniel made this known in a statement he issued on Thursday.

The PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State is Buruji Kashamu.

However, Kashamu's candidature, which was affirmed by a court ruling in January, did not sit well with the national leadership of the party, which presented Ladi Adebutu as its preferred candidate in the state. A court ruling on Wednesday then reaffirmed Kashamu's candidature.

Making reference to Wednesday's ruling, Daniel said: "You would have noticed my studied silence in our local politics in recent times. I have busied myself with national politics, having served the state for eight years.

"I have also been very busy supporting the ambition of the son of our great philanthropist in Remoland to become the next Governor of our dear state. You, however, would have become aware of the court decision yesterday which did not favour him.

"Going forward, I have directed all our Structures statewide to cast all their votes on Saturday for Prince Dapo Abiodun, another bona fide Remo son despite current party differences. I therefore, enjoin all to please go and cast your vote on Saturday for Dapo Abiodun in the overall interest of our people."

Chinese Actress BANNED From Leaving The Country

A well-known actress and former international beauty queen has been banned from travelling out of China after being deemed 'untrustworthy' by the country's social credit system.

China-born, U.S.-raised Michelle Ye Xuan, 39, only found out about the travel restriction against her when she was about to board a plane in Beijing last month.

Ms Ye, who won the Miss Chinese International competition at the age of 20, had failed to follow a court order from last year after being found guilty of defaming her then boyfriend's ex-girlfriend on social media.

Ms Ye, who grew up in Hangzhou and New York, is the first high-profile figure to be punished by Beijing's controversial social credit system, which rates citizens based on their daily behaviour and punishes 'untrustworthy' people in as many ways as possible.

Six 'Ingredients' For A Successful Marriage & It's Not All About Love

When it comes to relationships, each one is very different. Despite this, there are several steps we can all take to try and make our romantic relationships healthier and ensure they last longer.

One couple recently revealed they've taken some of these steps and created a concise set of rules that have allowed them to experience marital success.

And now they're sharing their relationship recipe with the people of the internet, in the hopes of helping other men and women improve their marriages.

Ryan Stephens, the creator of Dialed In Men, posted his and his wife Alaina's six rules for being a "good teammate" to each other in their marriage.

His posts quickly went viral on Twitter garnering thousands of likes and retweets and hundreds of comments.

He wrote: "My wife and I have found that focusing more on being teammates and less on being soulmates is a solid recipe for marital success.

People on Twitter were incredibly moved by the couple's rules and were quick to tell them so.

One person wrote: "Well said!"
Another commented: "I love all the pointers, so true I can attest to this in my marriage. It's so important to over communicate to avoid hidden assumptions which kills a lot of relationships."

Taylor Swift’s Intruder Is Arrested For Breaking Into Her Apartment AGAIN

New York City police have arrested Taylor Swift's accused stalker for breaking into her home again.
Roger Alvarado was taken into custody early Thursday morning after he allegedly broke into the singer's apartment building in Tribeca.

Authorities said Alvarado broke into the second-floor patio door of Swift's home, according to PageSix.

When officers arrived to the scene, the door was open and Alvarado had allegedly 'ransacked the place'. Swift was not home at the time.

According to Page Six, Alvarado used a ladder to climb the back of the building and smashed a glass door with a concrete block. He also left a computer tower near the door.

Alvarado has been charged with stalking, burglary and criminal mischief.

Since Swift has an order of protection against Alvarado, he was also charged with criminal contempt for violating that order of protection.

Last month, Alvarado, 22, of Homestead, Florida, pleaded guilty to criminal contempt and attempted burglary.

He was sentenced to six months in jail for breaking into the pop star's home in April 2018 when officers found him taking a nap.

Loyalty Can't Be Controlled , AY Makun Says

Comedian Ayo Makun has revealed on his instagram page that he learnt from a friend's experience that loyalty can't be controlled. According to him, being good to people does not mean they will treat you the same.

His words;

A friend's experience just taught me that you can’t control someone’s loyalty. No matter how good you are to them, doesn’t mean that they will treat you the same. No matter how much they mean to you, doesn’t mean that they’ll value you the same. Sometimes the people you love the most, turn out to be the people you can trust the least. Anyways, do you like my picture?

FG, APC Plot To Arrest PDP Members In Benue , Ortom Alleges

The Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom, has raised the alarm over alleged plot by the federal government and the All Progressives Congress to arrest prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state who are perceived to be close to him.

The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, which was made available to our correspondent on Thursday, said no fewer than six prominent members of the PDP had been earmarked for elimination or arrest few days to the governorship and House of Assembly elections over a false charge of gun-running.

He listed some of the targeted PDP members to include, Mr. Abraham Kwaghngu; Mr. Anthony Shawon;  Mr. David Tsevende;  Dr. Cletus Tyokyaa;  Avine Agbom; Matthew Mnyam;  Mr. Raymond Asema; David Iorhemba and John Enger.

He said, “We have received information about a secret plot hatched by the APC, in collaboration with some officials of the Federal Government to arrest and throw into detention, key members of the PDP.

“No convincing reason has been given for the planned arrest and those to be apprehended are not likely to be arraigned in court.”

He said the plot is part of the alleged plan to persecute him since he defected from APC to PDP.

According to him, with the governorship and state Assembly elections just few days ahead, the plan of APC is to allegedly intimidate him and his teeming supporters and allegedly pave way for flagrant rigging of the polls.

Ortom said, “APC has seen their defeat coming and the only way it feels it can avert losing the elections on Saturday is to manipulate the electoral process and harass PDP members by indiscriminately arresting them.

“The plot began on the day of the presidential and National Assembly elections when the Chief State Collation agent of PDP, Dr Cletus Tyokyaa, was arrested and taken away only to be released days later without any charge brought against him.”

The governor urged the Federal Government to shelve the alleged planned arrest and any idea aimed at throwing Benue State into political crisis.

He stated that the people of the state had suffered enough attacks and do not deserve another round of oppression.
