It is a sad reality for a hardworking female entrepreneur who is facing execution in China after being accused of smuggling cocaine into the country in shampoo bottles.
27-year-old Nazrawit Abera who is an engineering graduate was arrested on drug trafficking charges and could face death if found guilty, even thought it doesn't belong to her.
According to local media, a childhood friend asked the Ethiopian lady to deliver the bottles of shampoo which she did not know contained the Class A drug.
It was also reported that the childhood friend was arrested and held in custody by Ethiopian police but has now gone on the run and her whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Abera's family and friends say she is innocent and was deceived into transporting the contraband as it was disguised as beauty products. One friend, who wished to remain anonymous, told local media: 'We are fearful, angry and do not know where to go and cry.
'We have not heard from her and we have little information of her status and her parents cry and spend sleepless nights hoping their daughter will come back.'
The Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing is helping her pay for legal expenses while she awaits sentencing.
Governor Rochas Okorocha's son-in law and the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Imo state, Uche Nwosu, has said that the declaration of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Emeka Ihedioha, as the governor-elect, did not meet the constitutional requirement and therefore unacceptable.
He vowed to challenge the results of the election in the Court, stating that the declaration by the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike was a clear violation of the provisions of the Constitution.
Nwosu alleged that he was robbed of victory by the INEC and vowed to reclaim his mandate.
He noted that the electoral body did not comply with the guidelines when it announced the PDP candidate as winner of the election.
He said that the declared winner didn’t meet the constitutional requirement of 25 percent spread in at least two-third of the number of Local Government areas of the state where the election was held.
According to him, “the law is clear on the requirements for declaring somebody as a winner in an election. The law required that to be declared a winner; you have the mandatory spread of 25 per cent win in at least two-thirds majority. In this case, two-thirds of the 27 local government areas of the state is 18 and Ihedioha has 25 per cent spread in only 12 local government areas whereas I have in15. So it’s clear that INEC has compromised.”

They also stated that aside the suspect linked with Sugar’s case, about 18 persons, six guns, nine live cartridges, axe, knives and other miscellaneous items were recovered, while the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) had been carrying out investigations.
The AIG and the police commissioner, however, said thatSugar’s death was in no way connected with the elections that took place on the day he was killed.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 11, Leye Oyebade and Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Shina Olukolu, on Monday revealed that the police have succeeded in arresting one person in connection with the killing of Honourable Temitope Olatoye, a.k.a Sugar.
The AIG and the police commissioner, however, said that Sugar’s death was in no way connected with the elections that took place on the day he was killed.
They also stated that aside the suspect linked with Sugar’s case, about 18 persons, six guns, nine live cartridges, axe, knives and other miscellaneous items were recovered, while the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) had been carrying out investigations.
Speaking with Nigerian Tribune on Monday, at the police headquarters in Ibadan, AIG Oyebade said that the police got enough facts and evidences that led to the arrest.
“We have got a suspect but we can’t reveal all the details. I was at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan with the Oyo State Commissioner of Police on Saturday. The Chief Medical Director of the UCH was also with us.
“From that point, we picked up the investigation. I want to assure members of the public that the IGP’s mandate is that no stone should be left unturned in unravelling the cause of the incident.
“But the incident is not directly connected with the elections, going by the venue of the incident and the information we gathered of what happened prior to the incident,” the AIG said.
On his part, the Oyo police commissioner told the Tribune Online that he got the information about the attack on Sugar by unknown assailants from the Divisional Police Officer at Iyana Offa, while he was monitoring the governorship and state House of Assembly elections on Saturday.
Olukolu said: I learnt that Sugar was ambushed and, in the process, sustained gunshot injuries in the head. He was immediately evacuated to the UCH for medical attention, but, unfortunately, he died at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital while receiving treatment.”
He added that the area where the incident occurred was cordoned, while he directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) to personally lead the team of investigators.
Confirming the arrest of a suspect, Olukolu said others were being sought for, expressing assurance that there would be other developments.
The AIG and the police commissioner emphasized that though there were pockets of violence, the elections in the state could be classified as peaceful. “Though there were deaths, they were not related to the electoral process,” he stated.
Speaking on two other deaths that occurred, in addition to Sugar’s death, Olukolu said that the one that occurred at Akanran was not related to the election.
“The two suspects arrested in connection with the incident claimed they had a previous issue with the deceased, before fighting broke out again on the day of election, during which deceased collapsed and died. The vehicle they brought to the scene was also recovered.
“The third person that died was when a distress call indicated that about 15 hoodlums, who were armed, stormed a polling unit, approaching the venue with the mind of causing mayhem, snatching ballot boxes and inflicting injuries on members of the public.
“A team of patrol men were deployed and there was a response. A shot hit one of the hoodlums and he died. A shotgun was recovered, indicating that these people did not mean well for the entire society. We are working on it; whatever the circumstances are, all these cases are being investigated by the police to determine what happened exactly and appropriate actions would be taken,” the police commissioner said.

A woman suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction to penicillin after performing oral sex on her partner.
Doctors in Spain who treated the 31-year-old have now urged anyone with drug allergies to 'be aware' of the potential risk from oral s-x.
The unidentified woman swallowed her lover's semen and afterwards began to vomit, struggle to breathe and break out in hives.
The patient, from Alicante in Spain, went to hospital with suspected anaphylactic shock. It is unclear how long after her s-xual encounter she sought help.
She revealed she had an allergy to penicillin but denied having taken the drug, or any unusual foods, before performing fellatio.
Doctors ruled out a rare semen allergy when the woman admitted she had never suffered any symptoms in her previous sexual encounters.
Medics then discovered her 32-year-old partner had taken amoxicillin-clavulanic acid – a form of penicillin – to treat an ear infection.
As a result, the doctors at Hospital General Universitari d'Alacant suspected her anaphylaxis was caused by 'seminal transfer of amoxicillin'.
The case, believed to be the first of its kind ever recorded, was published in the British Medical Journal Case Reports.

An unidentified passenger onboard Delta Air Lines flight to Lagos from Atlanta, United States, died three hours to landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
A source close to the airline who craved anonymity told Thisday that the deceased had a terminal disease and wanted to come back to Nigeria, his country to spend the rest of his life, but could not make it as he died about eight hours into the flight.
The informed source said, “The deceased had a certificate from a hospital in the United States of a serious terminal disease, indicating that he may soon pass on. So, the deceased decided to come back to his homeland to spend the rest of his life, knowing the complexities and costs it will take bringing back his corpse, in case he doesn’t survive the illness.”
The source further explained that the airline did the man a favour by bringing him back, adding that it was just to help him.

UFC star Conor McGregor has been arrested in Miami for allegedly smashing a fan's phone as they tried to take pictures.
The Irish fighter is being charged with strong-armed robbery and misdemeanour criminal mischief, police said.
The alleged incident took place as the 30-year-old left the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel at 05:20 local time.
A police report says he knocked the phone out of the fan's hand, stamped on it then picked it up and left with it.
"The victim attempted to take a picture of the defendant with his cell phone. The defendant slapped the victim's phone out of his hand, causing it to fall to the floor," a police report said.
"The defendant then stomped on the victim's phone several times, damaging it. The defendant then picked up the victim's phone and walked away with it, depriving him of it. The defendant was located and arrested."
It added the alleged victim's phone was valued at $1,000.
In a post on social media following his release, McGregor said: "Patience in this world is a virtue I continue to work on. I love my fans dearly. Thank you all."
