Big Defeat In Oyo: ‘After APC Primary, Adelabu Started Carrying Himself Like Governor-In-Waiting’

Adebayo Adelabu, the defeated candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State governorship election, has been accused of “carrying himself like a governor-in-waiting” from the moment he won the governorship primary of the party last year.

On Monday, SR had reported how Adelabu had been abusing leaders of the party, blaming them for his loss in the election, and how he was involved in fisticuffs with Dayo Iyaniwura, one of his main allies who is also a Personal Assistant to outgoing Governor Abiola Ajimobi at the Governor’s Oluyole residence on Sunday.

Responding to the story, a group, the Ibadan Progressive Mandate (IPM), advised Adelabu to "situate his loss to aloofness and arrogant conduct of his ill-fated campaign rather than blaming anyone”.

In a statement released on Tuesday by its General Secretary, Ladele Jinadu, IPM advised Adelabu to place his failed ambition in the right perspective, saying "the real reason for his thrashing is his aloofness to the party, it's leaders, former contestants, and his arrogance".

“Why should Chief Adebayo Adelabu blame anyone for his defeat, not even Chief Joseph Tegbe who willingly withdrew from the race for him? That is unfair,” read the statement.

“Only the blind would deny that despite not being consulted, Tegbe mobilised his resources and team to work for the party and all APC candidates from the governorship to members of the House of Assembly always describing his support to the interest of the party his love for the APC.

“Adelabu had the opportunity to win if he had built a very inclusive campaign. However, immediately after succeeding at the primary, he started carrying himself like the governor in-waiting against repeated counsel to build consensus to reach out to the electorate.”

The group counselled Adelabu to call his men to order, knowing that he would he held responsible should anything sinister happen to Tegbe or anyone among his team leaders.

“Elections are not do or die affair and the people of Oyo State have spoken,” it said. “If Chief Adelabu believes he still stands a chance to offer service to the state in the future, all hopes are not lost. All he needs to do is shed himself off arrogance and connect genuinely with the people, not this blame game.”

However, Adelabu has denied fighting with the party. A statement by his spokesperson, Dr. Bayo Busari, said “the allusion that he engaged a personal assistant to the governor of Oyo State, Dayo Iyaniwura in fisticuffs is far from the truth”.

"How can I fight with the Governor's PA who was dedicated to my aspiration from beginning to the end and I knew everyone worked for me and the party during the campaigns?" Adelabu queried. "Dayo is my brother and I don't have issue with him nor with the leadership of the party.”

Video: Rain Of Money As Abia State Governor, Ikpeazu Celebrates Re-Election

I Can Never Blame Party Leaders For APC's Loss, Adelabu Speaks Again

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Saturday, March 9, 2019 election in Oyo State has expressed his deep appreciation to all leaders and members of the party who worked tirelessly for his electioneering campaign.

Adelabu expressed this while responding to an online news medium, SaharaReporters which alleged that he blamed the party's leadership for his failure.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Dr. Bayo Busari, the allusion that he engaged a personal assistant to the governor of Oyo State, Dayo Iyaniwura in a fistcuff was far from the truth. "How can I fight with the governor's PA who was dedicated to my aspiration from beginning to the end and I knew everyone worked for me and the party during the campaigns?" Adelabu queried. "Dayo is my brother and I don't have issue with him nor with the leadership of the party," he reiterated.

He expressed his appreciation to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, the chairman of APC in Oyo State, Chief Akin Oke and the entire party leadership, saying without them he couldn't have recorded the feat he achieved in the election.

He also commended all the aspirants who stepped down for him during the party's primary and for standing by the party to ensure that the party remained united during the elections.

What I Will Do To Amosun – Ogun Gov-elect Dapo Abiodun

The governor-elect in Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has ruled out resentment against Governor Ibikunle Amosun over the governor’s stiff resistance to his governorship ambition.

Amosun, who had won Ogun Central Senate seat on the platform of APC during the parliamentary poll, openly mobilised and worked for APM Akinlade’s candidacy.

Amosun and Abiodun were longtime allies before the governorship ambition tore them apart, in build up to 2019 elections. How will the governor-elect handle their issues?

While addressing newsmen in his house at Iperu-Remo, Ikenne area of the state, Abiodun said the contest for governorship seat was not “a personal thing” rather, he believed he had something to offer the state in term of service.

The oil magnate pointed out that he neither exhibit or say anything negative about Amosun during the electioneering. He also played down question raised on whether he intends to probe Amosun’s government or not, upon assuming office.

He promised to run “a government for all” by rendering “focused, qualitative and open governance.”

Abiodun said “I don’t think anyone would have observed that we started our campaign or during our campaign that I exhibited any form of anger against Governor Ibikunle Amosun, neither have I, at any point in time, say anything negative about him during our campaign.

“So, it is important to note that this is not a personal thing. It is about believing that one has something to give in terms of service to Ogun State.

“What we did during our campaign was to focus on the issues. I think we did that successfully by endearing ourselves to the heart of the electorate. I believe the electorate have spoken and they have spoken well. So, anger does not have a place.”

Akpabio Warns Akwa Ibom Governor: Don't Celebrate Yet

APC chieftain who lost his senate re-election bid, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday described Governor Udom Emmanuel’s victory in Saturday’s polls as a “purchased victory which must be reclaimed.”

Governor Emmanuel was, on Sunday, declared winner with a total of 519,712 votes to defeat his APC counterpart, Nsima Ekere who came behind with 171,978 votes.

But speaking with on the outcome of the elections in Uyo, Akapbio said
it was too early for Governor Emmanuel to celebrate his victory, adding that the APC would exploit appropriate legal means to retrieve it.

He claimed that the results collated from the fields were different from the ones declared by the returning officers of the various local governments areas of the state, adding that APC won the elections at the polling units but lost at the INEC offices.

“I was shocked when I saw the figures being brandished on the television. I wondered if it they were the same results we got on the field that they were announcing on the television channels. This shows that Nigeria is in trouble.

“I want to state categorically that those claiming victory, or those regarded as victors in the last election in Akwa Ibom State on the 9th of March should regard it as purchased victory. It was money at work. The people’s hopes were dashed.

“So, I want to tell Udom Emmanuel and his Peoples Democratic Party that it is too early to celebrate now. We will use appropriate legal means to reclaim that mandate,” Akpabio said.

Akpabio alleged that his local government, which reportedly gave the APC governorship candidate 74,000 votes at the local government collation centres, was reduced to only 60,000 in INEC office.

He accused INEC of “employing PDP members as collation officers,” stressing that 99% of the collation officers, especially, those sent to his local government area, were card-carrying PDP members.

INEC Dismisses Akpabio's Claims
In reaction, Akwa Ibom Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini, described the election as “free, fair and credible.”

He said, “When we returned to Akwa Ibom one year, six months and 10 days ago, we promised that we were going to deliver integrity-driven electoral process and that all old things must past away

“That is what we promised; that is what we delivered. We provided leadership; the people, the staff of the Commission and the entire electorate of this state. That is what we have done.”

Woman Who Bears A VERY Striking Resemblance To Rihanna Admits She's Struggling To Find Love

A Rihanna doppelganger has claimed she struggles to find a man as most are just 'fantasizing' about the star, and even her own mother confuses her with the singer.

Yna Sertalf, 23, who originates from Martinique in the West Indies, but lives in France,  realised she looked like the Barbadian singer after her uncle pointed out her likeness to the beauty when she was just a teenager.

The resemblance is so striking her mum once mistook a photo of Rihanna, 31, on a magazine cover for her daughter.

Although the French lookalike is quick to correct fans when she is 'noticed', she has insisted looking like one of the world's most beautiful women has its drawbacks.

Yna has been single for more than a year after being put off men who refuse to look beyond her looks, and she fears many just date her as she looks like Riri.

Yna has been single for more than a year after being put off men who refuse to look beyond her looks, and she fears many just date her as she looks like Riri.

Luckily she finds the comparisons funny, and even jokes she is the 'fatter' Rihanna.

Yna said: 'I've been single for about a year, but I would never put myself in a relationship with someone who sees me as 'Rihanna' and not 'Yna'.

Although Yna has never directly compared herself to Rihanna on her social media, Yna's 23,000 followers constantly leave comments comparing her and tagging the Work singer in nearly every photo.

One social media user, wrote: 'U look just like Rihanna omg.'

Another gushed: 'She looks like Rihanna more than Rihanna looks like herself.'

While a third simply said: 'Drop the album.'

US Town Elects Goat As 'Mayor'

In a divided America where politics seems increasingly to get people's goat, a small town in Vermont has taken the concept to heart -- this week electing one as mayor.

He may be a political novice but the goat's name, Lincoln, brings with it a storied pedigree.

And the leading human official in Fair Haven -- population about 2,500 -- hopes the long-eared, three-year-old animal's election can serve as a bit of a lesson in democracy.

In Tuesday's poll, Lincoln was victorious over 15 other candidates including Crystal the gerbil and many dogs and cats.

Fair Haven has no official mayor but the Town Manager, Joseph Gunter, holds similar functions.

When Gunter read in a newspaper that the village of Omena, Michigan, had made Sweet Tart the cat its "top" official, he got the idea to organize a similar election to raise funds for building a playground.

Lincoln's 13 votes were enough for him to squeak past Sammie the dog.
The goat, which belongs to a school math teacher, will get an education in the town's major festivals which it will represent during its one-year mandate: "Memorial Day parade, the Apple Fest and the events we organize every Friday in the summer," Gunter says.

Court Restrains EFCC, DSS From Arresting Fani-Kayode, Odumakin Without Due Process

The Federal High Court Abuja, on Tuesday, ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) not to arrest Femi Fani-Kayode and Yinka Odumakin without following appropriate due process of the law.

Ruling on a fundamental rights suit filed by the duo, Justice John Tsoho, maintained that such arrest by the EFCC, Department of State Services (DSS) or the Police, must be subject to processes being in accordance with provisions of the law.

Justice Tsoho also ordered that the EFCC’s public declaration to arrest Fani-Kayode and Odumakin on the basis of spreading false rumours was an infringement on their rights and a breach of their fundamental rights enshrined in Section 34(a) 35(1) (4) and (5) of the 1999 Constitution.

The judge further made an order enforcing Fani-Kayode and Odumakin’s fundamental rights and ordered the EFCC, the DSS and the Nigeria Police to stop issuing threats of unlawful arrest.

The court, however, declined to grant the prayer compelling the EFCC, DSS and Police from tendering an unreserved apology to the duo for infringing on their rights.

He also declined the prayer asking the security agencies to pay the sum of N20 million as damages for infringing on their rights.

Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation and Odumakin, the Spokesperson of Afenifere had sued the EFCC over an alleged plan to arrest them.

Pretty Woman Faces Death After Her Friend Gave Her Cocaine To Deliver As 'Shampoo'

It is a sad reality for a hardworking female entrepreneur who is facing execution in China after being accused of smuggling cocaine into the country in shampoo bottles.

27-year-old Nazrawit Abera who is an engineering graduate was arrested on drug trafficking charges and could face death if found guilty, even thought it doesn't belong to her.

According to local media, a childhood friend asked the Ethiopian lady to deliver the bottles of shampoo which she did not know contained the Class A drug.

It was also reported that the childhood friend was arrested and held in custody by Ethiopian police but has now gone on the run and her whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Abera's family and friends say she is innocent and was deceived into transporting the contraband as it was disguised as beauty products. One friend, who wished to remain anonymous, told local media: 'We are fearful, angry and do not know where to go and cry.

'We have not heard from her and we have little information of her status and her parents cry and spend sleepless nights hoping their daughter will come back.'

The Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing is helping her pay for legal expenses while she awaits sentencing.

INEC Robbed Me Of Victory- Okorocha's Son-In Law

Governor Rochas Okorocha's son-in law and the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA)  in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Imo state, Uche Nwosu, has said that the declaration of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Emeka Ihedioha, as the governor-elect, did not meet the constitutional requirement and therefore unacceptable.

He vowed to challenge the results of the election in the Court, stating that the declaration by the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike was a clear violation of the provisions of the Constitution.

Nwosu alleged that he was robbed of victory by the INEC and vowed to reclaim his mandate.

He noted that the electoral body did not comply with the guidelines when it announced the PDP candidate as winner of the election.

He said that the declared winner didn’t meet the constitutional requirement of 25 percent spread in at least two-third of the number of Local Government areas of the state where the election was held.

According to him, “the law is clear on the requirements for declaring somebody as a winner in an election. The law required that to be declared a winner; you have the mandatory spread of 25 per cent win in at least two-thirds majority. In this case, two-thirds of the 27 local government areas of the state is 18 and Ihedioha has 25 per cent spread in only 12 local government areas whereas I have in15. So it’s clear that INEC has compromised.”
