A 2018 Batch A corps member, Godspower Asuquo, who completed his service on Thursday March 14th, went to the market after receiving his NYSC discharge certificate, to celebrate with his mum.

A 63-ear-old businesswoman, Mrs Mabel Alli, on Friday prayed an Igando Customary Court in Lagos, to end her 41-year-old marriage to husband, Richard, alleging that he sleeps with their daughters and has impregnated her sister.
“After impregnating my sister, he took one of our daughters to the hospital to have an abortion. My 13-year-old girl also reported to me that he always sneaks into her room to have it with her.
“I have caught my husband red handed on top of our third daughter.
My friends and domestic staff are not exempted, I have caught him with them too” the wife alleged.
The petitioner said that her husband was fetish and also wanted to use her for money ritual in order to finance his political ambition.
“He has taken me to various herbalists in Badagry, Sango and other places for money ritual; I followed him because he said it was for goodwill. I stopped following him to herbalists when the last herbalist he took me to asked me to come alone the following day but I went with one of our daughters.
“He told me that I should stop following my husband about and should run for my life as he wanted to use me for ritual or make me mad, so he can inherit my properties which include cars and houses.
“My husband collects money from me using charms, spent it on his political ambition but he eventually lose the election."
Mabel alleged that her husband does not take care of the children.
“Everything rests on me, I shoulder all his responsibilities of feeding the family, paying the children school fees among other responsibilities.
"I beg the court to terminate this union. I am no longer interested because my husband wants to kill me.”
The husband, Richard, who denied all the allegations, welcomed the divorce suit, saying he too was no longer interested in the marriage. He claimed that he was the source of his wife’s wealth.
After listening to the submissions of the estranged couple, the President of the Court, Mr Adeniyi Koledoye, adjourned the case until May 2, for judgment.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari may be “poorer” than he was in 2015. He made the statement while disclosing that Buhari’s assets declaration form he saw indicated that the president was poor.
In a statement on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, Osinbajo also thanked Nigerians for voting Buhari for a second term.
The statement reads partly: “Everybody knows that this was not exactly an easy campaign but I believe that God saw, first the heart of Mr President. Here is an honest man, and as I said during the course of the campaign, even his worst enemies agree that he is a man of integrity.
“In any event, there are few Nigerians who would have been Minister of Petroleum, Governor of the whole of the Northeast, Head of State, not once or twice, but thrice, and still have just one home in Kaduna and some very modest place in Daura. Very few people are like that.
“When I looked at his assets declaration form, I was checking it in 2015, I said to him, 'Mr President, I am so much richer than you, it is an embarrassment'. He said, 'I am only a soldier, you are a big lawyer so you should have more money than me'. I can tell you that he is perhaps; even poorer than he was in 2015 when I saw his declaration of assets form.
“We are all grateful to God for this great victory, and the real heroes are you all seated here today, who went out every day to campaign and talk about what you believed about our government, what you thought this government could do for the Nigerian people.
“One thing that is clear to me is that your belief and commitment were not wrongly placed. You are absolutely right that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is the appropriate and right government for Nigeria at this time.”
Nemesis reportedly caught up with a woman and her daughter who tried to outsmart each other in their illicit relationship with the same man as they went into fisticuffs on Wednesday in the lover-boy’s apartment at Nkutaku Layout in Okpoko, a suburb in Ogbaru, Anambra state.
The man, who is said in his early 30s, is a boyfriend to the woman and usually patronize her restaurant at Ochanja market, near Onitsha where her daughter also assist to attend to customers.
According to a neighbor who had been following the dramatic battle for the lover boy, trouble started when the young lady in her early twenties began to succumb to love advances from the friendly customer simply identified as ‘Oga Dubai’.
“She did not know that her mother and Oga Dubai were already dating secretly before he decided to switch to her”, the source who did not want his name mentioned told Orient.
He continued: “The mother kept her calm initially thinking that it was mere friendly play. But, trouble started when on one of the man’s visit to the restaurant, the daughter rushed to him and embraced and kissed him.
Angered by her daughter’s provocative action, the mother warned her to behave herself in a good manner, but the daughter fired back that she was old enough to choose whom to love and that she love Oga Dubai and would like to marry him if he eventually propose to her. After a brief exchange of words, the duo kept their cool and went home as if nothing happened.
Not ready to surrender her lover to her daughter, the woman decided to play the spoiler game on them. Days later when the man invited her daughter to his house, the mother was already tipped off and she trailed her to the rendezvous for a showdown.
“The daughter did not know that her mother was a regular visitor to the house and as such very familiar with co-tenants to the man. So after about three hours after her daughter went to the man’s house, she decided to pay an unscheduled visit to the man. On arrival, she made straight to the man’s apartment without greeting the co-tenants as usual whenever she came calling, ostensibly to get them in action.
“After knocking, she pushed the door open and saw both Unclad, with the daughter’s hand bag hung on the wall. The woman kept her calm and managed to hold herself until the man told her that ‘you are suppose to wait for someone to come and open the door for you before you come in’."
According to the witness, this infuriated the woman who raised her voice, accusing the man of sleeping with mother and daughter, swearing that she has cut their relationship and that the girl will not return to her house again but will remain there in the man’s house.
“As heated argument ensued between the man and the mother, the daughter tried to sneak away but unfortunately for her the mother rushed outside and held her, dragging her back to the man’s house. As the girl was trying to resist her mother, the mother started beating her up and calling her names. As the beating became unbearable, the girl fought back and tore her mother’s clothes into shred, exposing her unclothedness.”

Reports that the lady pictured above, Orekoya Temitope Adeshewa, was among those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident of the collapsed building housing a school in Lagos has left many shock.
Temtiope was brought out of the rubble around 6:24pm on Wednesday and was still breathing when she was rescued. She was rushed to General hospital, where she gave up the ghost.

The aspiring fashion designer and social media influencer died at her flat in Earl's Court, west London, on Wednesday.
Her death is being treated as unexplained by police.

The Lagos State Government on Friday released the official figures of pupils and adult who died in Wednesday’s collapsed building on Lagos Island.
At a news conference at the Lagos Island General Hospital, Lagos, State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris disclosed that 20 children and adult died in the collapsed building.
The commissioner also disclosed that 43 people were rescued alive and were receiving treatment.

A dead baby was yesterday discovered in a drain at Ladega market in Ikorodu. The discovery of the dead baby attracted a crowd of onlookers and sympathizers to the scene. Residents of the area who trooped out in their numbers rained curses on the mother of the baby who is yet to be identified.
Only few days ago, a baby was also abandoned in a church toilet.
Mr. Ukpong, cousin to Godswill Akpabio, says the people of Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom state have totally rejected the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator.
Ukpong spoke when he alongside some stakeholders marched to the state press centre in Uyo to protest electoral offences “masterminded by the senator (Akpabio) and his cohorts.”
He accused former governor Akpabio of
intimidating and assaulting officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the polls, especially on the day of the governorship and state assembly election.
“Essien Udim people condemn in strong terms the various electoral offenses and irregularities masterminded and perpetrated by Senator Akpabio and his cohorts in which almost all the election processes in the area were marred by unlawful militarisation, rigging and assault on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) electoral officers,” read a communiqué jointly signed by the stakeholders, including Akpabio’s cousin.
“The atrocities include carting away of electoral materials and kidnapping of INEC ad hoc workers, with military help, to the home of Ibanga Akpabio.
“Senator Akpabio and his cohorts, apart from assaulting INEC workers, also beat and machete some PDP faithful to unconsciousness… we as a people have totally rejected him (Akpabio).”
The political leaders in Akpabio’s area alleged that one Idorenyin Akpabio of SARS, in company of other police men, shot at the people indiscriminately.
Speaking on the election, they insisted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in units where elections held, and result sheets intact. They also said any other result is fake and did not represent the people’s votes.
The political leaders rejected the results released so far by the electoral body. They also condemned the cancellation of results in nine wards in the council area.
They advised Akpabio to stop advertising “his declining and dwindling political status through interviews as such will continue to deepen his failing image.”
Mrs. Dominion Anosike, the returning officer for Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, in the gubernatorial election, has written to Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), requesting to appear before the electoral body at its headquarters in Abuja.
She was to appear before a committee set up by INEC to investigate controversies over the cancellation of the results of the governorship election in Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi State.
But Mrs. Anosike has requested to present her case in Abuja over threats to her life.
The letter, dated March 13, 2019, was addressed to the National Chairman of INEC and was received in his office on March 14, 2019.
In the letter, she stated: “I superintended over the above election in Tafawa Balewa LGA as the returning officer and I believe that there will be need for your committee to find out from me what transpired at the collation centre that led to the cancellation of the result by the resident electoral commissioner for Bauchi State.
“The purpose of this letter to your good offices is to indicate my desire to appear before the team in another location, preferably Abuja – as doing that in Bauchi State would constitute a threat to my life, as I have already been threatened with instant death, should I be found anywhere in or near Bauchi State.”
It would be recalled that the returning officer for Bauchi State governorship election, Prof. Mohammed Kyari, had cancelled the election of Tafawa Balewa LGA on Sunday evening, citing the failure of Mrs. Anosike to use the prescribed form to enter the result of the elections collated across the local government areas.
This was despite the explanation given by her to the commission that the result sheets for the governorship election were carted away by thugs who invaded the collation centre in Zwall, Tafawa Balewa LGA, in the early hours of Sunday.
She had also notified the commission via an explanatory memorandum signed by all stakeholders in the election at the collation centre who unanimously agreed to collate and record the result on another form, and addressed same to the resident electoral commissioner and the state returning officer, which was submitted in Bauchi on Sunday.
However, the state returning officer, Prof. Mohammed Kyari, rejected the explanation and unilaterally declared that there was no result for Tafawa Balewa LGA and cancelled the election of the entire local government area even though there was no incident of cancellation, violence, or electoral malpractice at both the polling unit and ward levels as reported by the returning officer.
The PDP candidate, Sen. Bala Mohammed, was in the lead after results of 19 LGAs were collated, with the incumbent governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of the APC, trailing behind with a margin of over 4000 votes.
In the contentious Tafawa Balewa LGA, the PDP had scored 40,000 votes against the APC’s 29,000, putting the PDP ahead with about 15,000 votes.
It would be recalled that when a similar incident occurred during the presidential election on February 23 in Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State, when the collation officer discovered that the result sheet for the presidential election was missing, all party agents and electoral officers unanimously agreed to record the result on another form which was accepted by the commission and collated as part of the result from Bauchi State.
A promising Nigerian man based abroad has died after his return home a few weeks ago. The deceased identified as Kross Aniwetalu, who hails from Nteje in Anambra state, lived in Mindelo, a city in Sao Vicente, Cape Verde, before his untimely demise.
He arrived Enugu few weeks ago after staying for over 15 years abroad and headed to his village in Anambra to visit his people before he was involved in an accident which led to his death.
According to local reports he was hanging out with friends in the village on Saturday, March 9th, when he stepped aside to answer a phone call. A bus from nowhere hit a tricycle popularly known as Keke Napep which fell on the deceased.
He was rushed to the hospital after he became unconscious and was admitted there before he finally passed away on Thursday (yesterday) at exactly 12.35pm.
It was revealed that the deceased acquired some new cars including Lexus and Range Rover which he planned to take to his new apartment in Enugu before his death.
For 19 years Annah Maluleka, 32 from South Africa said she lived as a drunkard with no direction in life. She moved from one kasi to another and didn’t have a stable relationship.

Her mum Joyce (54) said there was no peace in their home because of Anna.
“Things will change now that my obedient child is back.”

A baby girl has been born in Sokoto with Arabic inscriptions on different parts of her body. She has Arabic inscriptions on her chest, back and thigh as though they were tattooed there.

We did not notice anything at the hospital until we got home when my elder sister wanted to bathe her, she discovered the inscription on her chest, thigh and back. She also has a crescent sign on her ankle.''
