Stop Lying Against Us - PDP Warns Osinbajo

The Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday said the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was economical with the truth when he said the PDP never completed any major infrastructural project in 10 years during the 11th Bola Tinubu Colloquium in Abuja.

According to him, the PDP never completed any major infrastructural project before Buhari’s administration despite that Nigeria earned $383bn between 2010 and 2014.

The VP had said, “At the last colloquium, I said that
Nigeria’s main problem is not a lack of ideas, it is not a lack of projects and programmes, it was most of the time with experience in the past, a lack of integrity in leadership and corruption in particular. That was the reason why we were finding it difficult to make any progress and I think that was why we earned $383bn in four years, 2010 – 2014, the highest ever in the history in our country and yet Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was not done and Lagos-Kano Railway was not done. All the things that were supposed to be done were not done.

“You cannot point to a single major infrastructure project that was completed in the 10 years period despite the high revenue, including power. So a government coming after so many years of waste must be a government that emphasises prudent, and integrity in public finance so that they manage the little resources to achieve the maximum that can be achieved. That is what President Buhari is set out to achieving.”

But the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, in an interview with The Punch, said the PDP completed many major infrastructural projects, which he said, Nigerians were enjoying and appreciate the PDP for them.

He said it was sad that Osinbajo, who is a pastor, misinformed Nigerians in a public gathering, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government should address national governance and national needs rather than engaging in incorrect propaganda.

He urged Osinbajo to stop lying against the PDP, adding that he should leave the party alone.

He advised the government to recognise that elections were over and that Nigerians expected government to initiate and execute policies, programmes and projects that would impact favourably on them.
He said, “The Vice President should know that we have stopped campaigning and that the election is over. What we expect them to do is to embark on actions and projects that will address the needs of Nigerians. They should stop talking about the PDP. For the past four years, they have been blaming the PDP for not doing this or not doing that. They said they have won an election, though it is subject to legal test at the tribunal. We expect them to stop talking about the PDP but to concentrate on governance and whatever they want to do except they want to tell the whole world and Nigerians that the only achievement they know how to do is to blame the PDP or talk about the party every time.

“The records of our achievements are there for Nigerians to see. If after four years, all they will still say is that the PDP has not done this or that, that means they are not serious. Blaming the PDP for many years and continuing that after they had been declared winner of the 2019 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Nigerians will know who is telling lies. It is unfortunate that Osinbajo as a pastor will come to a public forum and lie against the PDP. Nigerians are not stupid. If Osinbajo said we have not completed any infrastructural project in 10 years, we leave it for Nigerians to judge.”

Faces of 5 Nigerians Arrested for Robbery in UAE

Five Nigerians, who allegedly stormed a money exchange in Sharjah and fled with Dh2.3 million, have been arrested, the police said on Sunday. According to the police, the men barged into the exchange and smashed the glass barrier between the customers and the staff, stole the money in multiple currencies and fled.

Two employees at the exchange were injured as they resisted the robbers.

One of them managed to notify the police. The Sharjah Police coordinated with forces from Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman to nab the suspects from four emirates within 48 hours after the robbery was committed.

The incident was reported at Al Ansari Exchange in Al Tawoon area. A top police official said the suspects came to the country on visit visas on March 18. For two days, they studied the exchange office before deciding to commit the robbery around midnight - just before the shop was to close. On March 20, four of the suspects stormed into the exchange office, while one waited in a car outside. After the four suspects rushed out with the money, they fled in the car.

Major-General Saif Al Zeri Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, said the whole amount has been recovered.

"The police team reached the site within seven minutes after the robbery was reported. The injured staff members were rushed to the hospital, where they were discharged the next day," the officer said.

The police lifted forensic evidence from the site and formed a team to crack the case. "Arrest warrants for the suspects were circulated at all ports of the country to prevent them from leaving."

The police got the number plate of the car in which the suspects fled. Following this lead, they arrested one of the suspects in Sharjah. This suspect led the police to the others - two in Ajman, one in Abu Dhabi and one in Ras Al Khaimah.

The suspects, who confessed to the crime, have been referred to the public prosecution.

So Sad! Mother Kills Her Son & Commits Suicide In Lagos

A middle-aged school teacher and mother of one allegedly killed her three-year-old son before allegedly committing suicide in the Ayobo area of Lagos. The incident happened on Saturday.

Local reports show that the woman whose identity is yet to be revealed, lived a comfortable life with her son at their home on No 1, Adeniran Street, off Ferguson Osagie Road in Ayobo.

Her husband is said to be based abroad...
Residents say she was financially comfortable and had no known trouble that may have led her to kill her son and then take her own life.

Officers from the Ayobo Police Station who were invited after the incident was discovered, say they are not ruling out possible double homicide as the deceased and her son were foaming from the mouth when they were found dead inside their home.

The remains of the deceased mother and child have not been moved as the tradition in Ayobo area is that when sudden and unexplained deaths occur, the Oro cult is always consulted to find out the cause of death and to ward off evil spirits that may have been unleashed of the sudden mysterious death.

Reports say the two corpses are currently lying in the house awaiting the Oro rituals before they are moved.

Speaking at the meeting, INEC National Commissioner in-charge of Bayelsa, Rivers and Edo States, May Agbamuche-Mbu, emphasised that a fresh election would not be conducted in the state.

Also in his remarks, the state commissioner of police, Usman Balel, who assured that the police is committed to providing adequate security for the people, called on stakeholders to embrace peace and accept the outcome of the process.

Final Words Of Pilot Of Crashed Ethiopian AirPlane Revealed

One of Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET302’s pilots told the other “pitch up, pitch-up” moments before the Boeing 737 Max jetliner crashed three weeks ago, a new report has revealed.

According to The Wall Street Journal, that instruction and other information about the plane’s final moments paint a picture of a flight crew that was quickly overwhelmed.

The Ethiopian Airlines jet took off from Addis Ababa on March 10 and ran into trouble almost immediately, the Journal reported.

First Officer Ahmed Nur Mohammed contacted the control tower and in a crackling transmission reported a “flight control problem,” according to the newspaper, which cited people close to the ongoing investigation.

The tower asked for details as Captain Yared Getachew tried to climb and correct the glide path, the paper reported. Two minutes into the flight oscillation became a wild bounce, then a dive. The flight lasted fewer than six minutes.

The pilot who urged the other to pitch up was not identified, all 157 people on board the plane were killed.

The newspaper’s report came as Boeing faces mounting pressure to roll out a software update for its 737 Max, its best-selling jet. A faulty anti-stalling system on the Max is suspected in the disaster, which occurred shortly after takeoff.

The Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) flight-control feature is also suspected in the crash of a Lion Air Boeing 737 Max in Indonesia last October, according to the BBC.

Jealous Wife Pours Hot Water On Female Neighbour For Greeting Her Husband

A 37-year-old woman, Mrs. Josephine, has been arrested in Lagos state for bathing her neighbour, one Mrs. Blessing Christopher, 33, with hot water for reportedly greeting her husband against her wish.

The jealous woman, Josephine had claimed that she was not ready to share her husband with Blessing and she meant it by pouring hot water on her.

Blessing, a worker with Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), incurred Josephine's wrath on Tuesday night at Agbotikuyo, Agege area of Lagos.

According to PM Express, Blessing explained that on Tuesday night, as she was preparing dinner for her family in the kitchen, her neighbour’s husband came into the place and greeted her. Immediately she replied, the man’s enraged wife reportedly jumped out.

Blessing said: “I responded to his greeting by saying, ‘Welcome Sir’.

The wife, who heard us, came out from their apartment and warned me never to greet her husband again. She said that if I tried it again, she would deal with me. I asked her when it has become a crime to respond to greetings and she said I should wait for her. I continued with my cooking.”

“A few minutes later, I saw her with a pot; she was hurriedly moving towards me. Her husband tried to block me but she went behind and poured the hot water on my back.”

Blessing, who was writhing in pain, was in bed when our correspondent went to speak with her. She said: “Since she poured the hot water on me, I have been in pains.

The worst situation is that my husband and I don’t have enough money to pay for my medical treatment. I don’t know what I did to that woman. We didn’t even have any issue. We are just four months old in the compound. We later heard that most tenants that had moved out of the compound left because of the woman’s troublesome nature.”

Blessing said since the incidence happened that she had not been able to take care of her twins; the twins are just two years old. Her husband was forced to stop going to work in order to mind the kids.

In January, Josephine was alleged to have broken a neighbour’s head during a squabble. The State Police PRO, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the story. He said that the suspect had been arrested.

Story Of Akara Seller's Son Who Defeated Millionaire To Win House of Assembly Election

Many people were shocked following the result of the Nnewi North Constituency of Anambra state in the just concluded State House of Assembly election held on March 9, 2019, as the son of akara (bean cake) vendor, Nonso Okafor, fondly called Smart who contested under the platform of APGA, trounced Obinna Ngonadi, son of Chief Humphrey Ngonadi, a multi-millionaire industrialist to emerge winner of the election.

According to Daily Sun, thirty eight year-old Nonso defeated Obinna, candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the industrial community; with a remarkable margin as he will now represent the four quarters of Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim and Nnewichi that make up Nnewi North Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly.

Recall that the people of the area had on February 23, voted massively for one of their own, oil and gas mogul, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah on the platform of YPP, to become senator of Anambra South.

Curiously, all the money and influence of other big shots in the area who rallied round the Ngonadis, could not save them from the giant killer called Nonso, who could barely fund his campaign.

Mother of the winner, Mrs Monica Okafor, a widow and an akara seller since 1999 when she lost her husband and began to fend for herself and their four children; two males and two females, said she was short of words to express what God had done for the family.

Radiating with smiles in the course of this interview, she said her heart was full of joy when she heard that her son won the election. Of course, before Nonso went in for the contest she said she called him to tell him that the battle would not be a child’s play. But he left her with the assurance that he would win the election; just like the case of David and Goliath in the Bible.

“I thank God who made this possible; that God who lifts up the poor from a refuse dump, I thank Him. God knows all we have suffered in this life and has decided to wipe our tears, I thank Him,” she said.

Mrs Okafor explained that her choice to go into akara business was circumstantial in the sense that when her husband died in 1999, she closed her own trading business at Nkwo Nnewi market and decided to do a home-based one to enable her properly take care of the home front, monitor when her children return from school and all that. And she has no regret over her choice because “with my akara business; I was able to take care of my children, feed them well, pay their school fees, clothe them properly and they never lagged behind in anything.”

Although the last born of the family, Nonso’s mother said that he showed very early in life that he would go places. According to her, his character disposition as he was growing up gave her an indication that he would be something else as he talked and reasoned like adults even as a small boy.

“I saw in him rare qualities and he has a different character disposition. Sometimes when he talks, I become shocked because he would exhibit wisdom that could not come from many adults. When my mother-in-law was still alive, I called her one day to tell her that this boy might be Ogbanje (one of the gods in Igbo ancient his- tory believed to have the capability to influence human actions).

But she said it was not true, and only told me that the boy is a special creature who would in due course show what he is created for. And I did not stop there. I consulted one Rev Father Odunukwe at Nnobi where I went for prayers, he told me that I should not panic, that God brought Nonso into the family to be a great man,” she narrated.

She noted that Nonso’s lifestyle, indeed all his siblings, is characterized by fear of God de- void of moral bankruptcy from their childhood to their present age unlike some youths of these days who have questionable rectitude. She said Nonso never engaged in any immoral or irresponsible behaviour that could dent the family record and had been a champion to anything that could bring succour to the youths; “I think that is what has endeared him to many.”

Mrs Okafor said the significance of Nonso’s victory in the State Assembly poll was to show that it is only God that crowns whoever He chooses and that money is deemphasised when it comes to God’s intervention.
