Rivers Stood By Wike & PDP Even In The Face Of Death - Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has hailed the Rivers people for standing by Governor Nyesom Wike and the PDP during the course of the elections in the state.

Reacting to Wike’s re-election, Fayose described the governor’s victory as sweet and historic.

In a series of tweets made on Wednesday, Fayose argued that to have the people of Rivers State stand by Governor Wike and the PDP even in the face of death is a sign that Nigerians are capable of defeating tyranny.

Fayose noted that the victory is just the beginning of more victories over the forces threatening the survival of democracy in Nigeria.

Trump Mocked On Twitter After Claiming That The Noise From Windmills Causes Cancer

Donald Trump has made the dubious claim that the noise from industrial wind turbines causes cancer.

'Hillary wanted to put up wind, wind,' Trump said in wide-ranging remarks at the National Republican Congressional Committee's spring fundraising dinner in Washington DC on Tuesday.

'If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations your house just went down 75% in value,' Trump continued.

'And they say the noise causes cancer, you tell me,' Trump said, gyrating his arm in the air and imitating a winding noise.

Studies have been mixed when it comes to the impact of wind farms on real estate values, with some finding a negative impact on home prices of up to 40 per cent, and others finding little or no impact.

There are no studies conclusively linking the noise of industrial wind turbines to cancer.

There are, however, scores of claims describing negative health impacts from windmills, particularly from noise.

'Exposure to wind turbines does seem to increase the risk of annoyance and self-reported sleep disturbance,' a 2014 review of the literature for PloS One indicated.

Trump's exaggeration of the health risks from windmills drew opprobrium from his critics online.

'Yeah I hear the windmill blows the Cancer into you...' one Twitter user wrote.

Death Of Imo Students At Hostel: Police Suspect Group S-x As Bodies Are Recovered

The Police Command in Owerri, Imo State, said they have recovered two male corpses, Tramadol tablets and Indian hemp from the scene of what appeared to be a group s-x at a student lodge.

The Command said it also rescued two unconscious persons — a man and a young lady — from the scene.

The two young men described as undergraduate students at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, collapsed and died allegedly while having group s-x with a female student, Police said.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, who confirmed the incident to Punch correspondent on Wednesday, said the students were suspected to have used s*x-enhancing drugs for the exercise.

The Police spokesperson who gave the names of the dead students as Ugochukwu and Uche (other names withheld), said the incident happened at Sunshine Lodge located at Ihiagwa, near FUTO.

According to him, the Police operatives who evacuated the corpses and took two others to hospital also recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp and Tramadol from the scene of the incident.

“The corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, for an autopsy, while Richard and Onyinyechi whose condition is yet to be stabilised, have been referred to the FMC Owerri for further medical attention.

“The families of the deceased have been contacted, while the condition of the surviving persons is still being closely monitored,” the spokesman says.

Ikeokwu said that the state commissioner of Police frowns at drug abuse and other illicit acts by youths whose parents are working hard to ensure that their future is guaranteed.

When contacted, FUTO Public Relations Officer, Uche Nwelue, said that the varsity was aware of the incident but that it was still investigating to confirm if the victims were students at the institution.

Drug Trafficking: 8 Already Executed… 20 More Nigerians On Death Row In Saudi Arabia

The Presidency has said the execution of a Nigerian woman over a drug-related offence in Saudi Arabia was “pathetic and tragic”.

The Nigerian was among four persons executed by Saudi authorities on Monday, according to the Asian country’s Interior Ministry. The others were two Pakistani men and a Yemeni man.

Saudi Arabia has executed 53 people this year alone over drug-related offences

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who expressed the feeling of the Federal Government, recalled that the woman became the eighth Nigerian to die under similar circumstances.

The SSA, who spoke with State House correspondents in Abuja, disclosed that 20 others were still on death row in Saudi Arabia, besides 12 more already sentenced to prison.

She said the Federal Government was saddened by the fact that in some instances, the unfortunate Nigerians were the victims of drug cartels working with some airline workers.

Dabiri-Erewa said in some cases, drugs were stealthily put in the bags of unsuspecting pilgrims by the cartels only for them to be picked up on arrival in Saudi Arabia.

The SSA added, “We have had cases where truly they didn’t commit the offence. We have appealed to Saudi authorities to make the trials fair, open and ensure that justice is done. Even if you are going to die, you will know that you will die for an offence you committed.

“So, while we appeal to Nigerians going to Saudi Arabia, we know it is tough, obey the laws of the land. Even kolanut is treated as a drug. So, we will continue to appeal to Saudi authorities to treat some of the cases with some form of leniency.

“We have 20 of them (on death row) in Saudi; this is the eighth to be executed and we are hopeful that maybe we will be able to save the others. So, it is pathetic, it is tragic but we will continue to appeal to Nigerians to obey the laws of the land where you are.

“However, we expect the trial to be fair, open and ensure that justice truly is done because somebody is sentenced to death.”

On the five Nigerians arrested in the United Arab Emirates for robbing a bureau de change, she described their conduct as disgraceful and an embarrassment to the country and their families.

See Yahoo Boys Nabbed Over Attempts To Use Runs Girl For Money Ritual

A lady who sleeps with men for money jumped from a two-storey building in Ibadan, Oyo State to escape from suspected ‘Yahoo Plus Boys’ who wanted to use her for ritual.

The Oyo State’s special security outfit, Operation Burst, arrested the two suspected internet fraudsters and took them to the Ibadan zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after the woman escaped being used for their 'ritual sacrifice'.

The suspects, Sanusi Azeez Toba and Osho Olalekun Micheal, were arrested on April 3, 2019 at Kolapo Ishola, Akobo area of Ibadan after one of their victims escaped by jumping down the two-storey building where she and others were taken hostage.

According to the lady, “We met at the club last night and we all went back to their apartment to sleep over. At some point, I noticed some funny movement and I saw them with a calabash (a native pot).
“That was when I knew they were ritualists with the intention to use me for rituals. So, I jumped off the two-storey building, and off the fence. I then reported the case to the ‘Operation Burst’."

Preliminary investigations have also revealed that the suspects have various incriminating documents.

Prison Officers Plotting Prisoners' Escaped Nabbed

Some warders of the Nigerian Prisons Service, attached to the Ibara Prison in Abeokuta, Ogun State, are currently being interrogated for allegedly plotting with some convicted inmates to perpetrate different crimes, including defrauding members of the public and escaping from the correctional facility.

It was gathered that some condemned robbery inmates had, in connivance with the warders, allegedly contributed about N15m for the planned jailbreak. Seriously?

It was learnt that the plot was on when the police uncovered it. Sources told The Punch that two senior prison officers had been arrested in connection with the incident. The officers, were said to be undergoing interrogation.

It was further learnt that about N600,000 and some documents had been recovered from the suspects.

A source said the suspects were taken away by officers of the Zonal Intervention Squad, Obada Oko, Abeokuta.

He said, “The whole thing started after the police got a series of complaints of fraud from some members of the public. The calls were traced to the prison. In the course of investigation, some prohibited items were discovered in the cells, including phones.

“The police went further in their investigation and discovered that there was actually a syndicate in the prison and some warders were involved. This was what led to the discovery of the planned jailbreak by the condemned inmates.”

Another source identified some of the inmates allegedly involved in the plot as Olatunji Adeleke and Oladele Ilesanmi.

The source said, “The police discovered that the officers connived with the inmates to plan the jailbreak by securing phones and laptops for them. “They also discovered that about N15m was earmarked for the jailbreak and they started planning it in October 2018.

“As I speak to you, about N600,000 has been recovered from the suspects, including some vital documents. From interrogation, it appeared that some women were also involved in the scheme.”

Our correspondent was told that the process of defrauding people from the prison yard was called ‘money in the air.’

“Three of their female victims are Eniola Afolayan, who lives in Igbogbo, Ikorodu; one Omolola and one Adunni, who also live in Lagos,” a police source added.

However, a warder said the officers were arrested by the ZIS after the wife of a convicted inmate complained of extortion.

He noted that the officers were then handed over to the police for interrogation.

Further investigation by The Punch revealed that the inmates and the warders at the prison usually go out together to collect money from banks under a sharing formula.

A few inmates were alleged to have used the opportunity to escape without a trace.

In October 2016, an inmate in the prison, identified as Teslim Babalola, was reported to have escaped after being taken to a bank by two warders.

A source said no one in the prison was punished for the incident, which was covered up with the connivance of the principal officers at the Nigerian Prisons Service headquarters in Abuja.

The spokesperson for the NPS, Ogun State, Victor Oyeleke, denied the report of extortion and the planned jailbreak.

He said, “I have gone round and asked questions. Based on my findings, there is nothing like that happening in the yard. Like I told you, you were the one who informed me about it. “From my findings, nobody is helping any inmate to escape. And it cannot happen in our prisons.

“All our officers are well trained and nobody can aid anyone to escape. The two officers you mentioned their names are senior officers and they know the repercussion of such a thing. So, there is no way they will do it.”

After insisting that no officer of the prison was arrested by the police, the spokesperson called back to say the two officers honoured a police invitation for “intelligence sharing.”

Oyeleke, who confirmed the 2016 escape, said the suspect was later re-arrested and was being held in another prison facility.

The Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Prisons Service, Francis Enobore, said he had yet to be briefed about the incident. He asked the correspondent to rely on Oyeleke’s response.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2, CSP Dolapo Badmos, said she had a report that two prison officers were being interrogated.

“There is a report that we are investigating. Two prisons officers are being interrogated over it. We will get back at the end of investigation,” she said in a text message.

Man Defrauds People Impersonating Adeboye, TB Joshua

The end may have come for one Yusuf Atanda, who allegedly impersonated the general overseers of some Pentecostal churches to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

It was learnt that Atanda created fake Facebook accounts for the general overseers of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye; Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Daniel Olukoya; and the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Temitope Joshua, to dupe many.

It was gathered that the 27-year-old businessman, who posed as the general overseers of the churches, sent messages asking members of the public to deposit N1,000 and N2,000 into a given bank account and receive N3,000 and N5,000 in four days.

According to The Punch, Atanda usually blocked his victims’ account after they had made the payment so that they would not be able to reach him.

He was, however, arrested after a petition was written to the police by one of the complainants’ counsel and he was subsequently arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Atanda was arraigned on charges bordering on cybercrime before Magistrate M. O. Tanimola.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges. The police prosecutor, Aondohemba Koti, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences in October 2018. He added that the defendant used the names of the three general overseers on the Internet without their consent.

Koti said, “Atanda created fake Facebook accounts for Pastor E. A. Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God; Dr D. K. Olukoya of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries; and Pastor T. B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations.

“Upon the receipt of a written petition from one of the complainant s’ counsel, the police swung into action and the defendant was tracked down and arrested.

“The amount of money the defendant got from over 100 members of the public has yet to be ascertained.”

Tanimola admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government. The case was adjourned till April 17 for mention.

Runs Girl Narrowly Escaped Being Used For Money Ritual

A middle-aged lady, said to be a s*x worker, on Wednesday narrated how she managed to escape being used for money rituals by suspected internet fraudsters (Yahoo plus).

The lady whose name and identity was preferred to be made anonymous for security reasons narrated her ordeals while been kept in custody by security operatives in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

In a statement during the handing over of two suspected internet fraudsters to the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal Office, the middle-aged woman said she had joined the boys alongside some other friends from a club to pass the night with the boys unaware of their antics and intentions.

The suspects, Sanusi Azeez Toba and Osho Olalekun Micheal, arrested at Kolapo Ishola, Akobo area of Ibadan were handed over to the Oyo State’s special anti-crime patrol outfit codenamed, “Operation Burst”, after the escaped victims reported the matter to them.

She added that she had to jump down from a two storey building where she and others were taken hostage and later scale a fence when she noticed the boys were acting funny in the middle of the night.

She said “We met at the club last night and we all went back to their apartment to sleep over. At some point I noticed some funny movement and saw them with a calabash (a native pot).

“That was when I knew they were ritualists with the intention to use me for rituals. So I jumped off the two-storey building, and off the fence. I then reported the case to the ‘Operation Burst’."

Preliminary investigations have also revealed that the suspects have various incriminating documents stored in the laptops and phones recovered from them at the point of arrest.

The development is coming even as operatives from the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Commission also on Wednesday, arrested another twelve suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo Boys’

While six of the suspects were arrested at 2nd Pipeline, Ologunerun, Ibadan, the other five were picked up at a location in Ijebu-Remo, Ogun State.

Those from Ibadan are Akinbinu Akinfemi, Wasiu Adeyemi, Idowu Samson, Tijani Usman, Saheed Eniafe and Adeyi Victor. While Benson Gospel, Abdulazeez Gafar, Agbumabiwon Abiodun, Abayomi Awotedu, and Bukayo Abiodun were apprehended at Ijebu Remo.

Ranging between the ages of 17 and 29 years, the alleged fraudsters’ arrests were occasioned by petitions from their neighbours, detailing their alleged fraudulent activities.

The alleged acts include love scam and other forms of internet fraud through which they obtain money from unsuspecting victims. Items recovered from them include laptops, mobile phones and several documents containing false pretences.

“All the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded”, a source said.

Why Buhari Is Yet To Sign New Minimum Wage - Presidency

The Presidency said on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari had yet to sign the National Minimum Wage Bill just passed by the National Assembly into law, contrary to reports last week that he had done so.

The Senate had on March 19 passed the bill, approving N30,000 as new national minimum wage.

By its action, the Senate concurred the earlier decision of the House of Representatives, which passed the bill before the National Assembly shut down its operations to enable lawmakers to participate in the 2019 general elections, beginning from February 16.

Last week, there were social media reports, claiming that Buhari had assented to the bill.

But speaking in an interview with The Punch in Abuja, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on NASS (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, dismissed the reports.

He said that signing of bills was not done in secrecy, as the President would normally communicate his decision to Nigerians publicly.

Enang clarified that Buhari had yet to sign the bill on the grounds that there were operational procedures to be followed.

However, he confirmed that the bill, which captured N30,000 as the new national minimum wage, had been transmitted to Buhari by the National Assembly.

Enang said, “The bill has been transmitted to Mr President; that I can confirm. Right now, the bill is undergoing standard presidential, operational procedures in respect of bills. We are within time. At the appropriate time, Mr President will take a decision and make it public. Therefore, the report that Mr President has already signed the bill is not correct.”

The passage of the bill by the Senate coincided with the submission of the report on the new national minimum wage by the Presidential Technical Advisory Committee Buhari set up to advise the Federal Government on how to pay a wage increase above the current N18,000.

The panel, which was chaired by renowned economist and businessman, Mr Bismarck Rewane, submitted its report to Buhari on March 25.

The committee had the primary task of advising the government “on how best to fund, in a sustained manner, the additional costs of implementing the imminent increase (N30,000) in the national minimum wage.”

The terms of reference also covered advising the government “on the consequential increases in salaries and allowances for other employees, without worsening our already difficult fiscal condition, and without adversely impacting the nation’s development goals as set out in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.”

The President had assured the nation upon receiving the report, that he would “review” it expeditiously and take a final stance.

Recall that the Senate, while passing the bill, had asked that the current revenue sharing formula should be reviewed to make more funds available to the other tiers of government.

It said this was to enable the other tiers to cope with paying the N30,000. Many states are owing backlog of salaries at the present N18,000 minimum wage.

Some of the states received bailouts from the Federal Government multiple times but still could not clear the salary arrears owed workers. Most state governors had consistently opposed the N30,000 on the excuse that they could not afford it.

Suffering On Lagos/Ibadan As Many Sleep On The Expressway

Following an accident, which led to a petrol tanker spilling its content on the Ibafo end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday, many motorists have recounted their ordeal in the resultant gridlock, which lasted till Wednesday afternoon.

The tanker was hit by a speeding truck, which made it to spill its content.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Ogun State Police Command, the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps and fire service personnel immediately cordoned off the area in order to prevent a fire outbreak.

Despite the fact that the content of the tanker was trans-loaded into another vehicle, the road was not free as many motorists spent the night stuck in the gridlock.

A pharmacist, Abiodun Otubanjo, told The Punch that, “I left Lagos Island around 4.30pm on Tuesday for Sagamu in Ogun State. Before I left, I checked the traffic situation online and it showed that the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was densely congested. Unfortunately, when I got to the ‘Long Bridge’, I got stuck and it was a very traumatic experience, not just for me, but for most commuters on the road, because the bridge is renowned as a den of robbers.

“I eventually got to opposite the Punch Place around 2am and I realised I won’t be able to continue with the journey because I was exhausted and that was where I passed the night. I was not the only one who slept on the road.

“Up till 11am this morning (Wednesday), the gridlock was still there. And when I managed to get to the Redemption Camp, I didn’t see any reason for the gridlock.”

Otubanjo urged the contractor handling the reconstruction of the road to fast-track its work, adding that the Federal Government should make commuting on the road easy for the citizens.

Another motorist, Wasiu Muhammed, said he got stuck in the traffic around 8.30pm, adding that an accident occurred as a result of motorists driving against the traffic.

He said “I encountered the traffic from the Otedola Bridge around 8.30pm. At some point, I had to drive against the traffic and there was a luxury bus behind me. As the bus attempted to overtake me, he collided with a Lexus SUV.

“The driver drove away without waiting. It was when he got to Berger that the bus suffered from overheating and I was able to catch up with him. I had to inform him about what happened.”

A commuter, identified simply as Ireti, said she reported late for work on Wednesday morning because the gridlock prevented her from getting home early the previous night.

The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mr Adedamola Kuti, who spoke with one of our correspondents on the telephone, sympathised with motorists and commuters who were trapped on the road, saying the Federal Government and the contractor, Messrs Julius Berger Plc, were doing everything humanly possible to alleviate the suffering of road users.

He, however, blamed the persistent gridlock on the Lagos-Ibafo section of the road to impatience by motorists and the many articulated vehicles that were not roadworthy but plying the road, which often break down, especially narrow portions of the road.

Kuti said, “The government is trying to make commuting on the road a pleasurable experience by expanding the road, which is the busiest in Nigeria and perhaps Africa, especially the Lagos to the Sagamu interchange section.

“Motorists must be patient when passing through construction areas, especially in places where a side of the road is closed and the other side is divided into two lanes.

“The contractor is a reputable international firm that applies universal safety standards on its construction sites. If it opens the barricaded areas to traffic when construction is still going on and there is an accident, it will be held liable. No responsible construction firm will do that.”

He added that funding constraints, which had previously slowed down the pace of work on the road, had been surmounted as the government had secured an alternative funding arrangement from the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, through the Sovereign Wealth Fund instead of budgetary provisions.

Buhari Gets NJC Recommendation To Retire CJN Onnoghen

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended the compulsory retirement of the Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Walter Onnoghen, based on “incontrovertible” findings on him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The NJC asked President Muhammadu Buhari to give effect to the recommendation immediately.

But the NJC urged the President to allow Justice Onnoghen retain his seat as
a former CJN in the Council of State. The council also said the CJN should be retired with full benefits.

A source, who pleaded not to be named, told The Nation that “because of the sensitivity of the matter”, the compulsory retirement of Justice Onnoghen was the major highlight of NJC’s meeting.

All NJC members were said to have decided not to comment on the meeting because “it would not be right to do so when a letter has been sent to the President on their decision.” He should get the letter before any comment, the source said.

The source said: “The NJC has been able to navigate the most challenging moment for the nation’s judiciary by recommending compulsory retirement of Onnoghen with full benefits.

“The NJC specifically demanded that the CJN be allowed to take his eminent position in the Council of State like his predecessors.

“If these recommendations are accepted, the Executive may be on the same page with the Judiciary by staying action on the ongoing trial and other pending trials of the CJN.”

The NJC may have adopted a “win-win approach” to ensure that the Executive and the Judiciary are on the same page.”

Another source familiar with how the NJC arrived at its decision said the “EFCC’s report on Justice Onnoghen was damning and incontrovertible”.

The anti-graft agency accused the CJN of “being in possession of funds which are fairly not attributable to his known, provable and legitimate source of income”.

The opening of a dollar account in Standard Chartered Bank for the CJN by a lawyer, Joe Agi, with $30,000 was said to be unhealthy. The EFCC had accused Justice Onnoghen of being unable to account for curious deposits in his accounts.

APC Cries Out: Saraki, PDP Plotting To Hijack 9th NASS

The All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday traded words over an alleged plot by Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara, to interfere in the process leading to the emergence of leaders of the 9th National Assembly.

The APC had cried that it was aware of steps being taken by Saraki, Dogara and the PDP to influence the emergence of the next Senate president and other leaders of the ninth National Assembly.

The ruling party said the plan, which was aimed at ensuring that APC preferred candidates for the National Assembly’s positions did not emerge winners, would fail.

The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekinni Nabena, said this while speaking with journalists in Abuja.

He stated, “We are aware of the scheming by Saraki, Dogara and the PDP caucus to interfere with the emergence of the incoming National Assembly leadership.

“Their plans are bound to fail as the APC is a strong party with unity of purpose.”

While asking Saraki and Dogara to desist from manipulating the process, the APC chieftain said the party had learnt its lesson from what happened in the National Assembly in 2015 which led to the emergence of the outgoing leaders.

Describing the outgoing leaders as impostors, he accused them of sabotaging the party and hijacking its mandate.

He said the party would not allow a repeat of the current scenario where outgoing leaders were allegedly frustrating efforts of the Muhammadu Buhari government to reposition the country.

He added that the choice of the party for the next National Assembly must be respected by all federal lawmakers.

Nabena added, “The APC has learnt its lesson from the outgoing National Assembly when impostors masquerading as party men sabotaged our party and hijacked our mandate. Affliction shall not rise up the second time.

“The efforts of the Adams Oshiomhole leadership of the party are commendable in achieving a fair selection and zoning arrangement that appeals to a greater section of the party stakeholders.

“The APC is the overwhelmingly majority party in the National Assembly and has a legitimate right to make its choices on the selection and zoning of principal offices.

“The APC family is in agreement on the party’s supremacy and the PDP and other opposition parties should focus on their minority positions.”

But in defiance to the stand of the APC, Senator Ali Ndume has signified his intention to contest the Senate presidency.

Efforts to get the reaction of Ndume failed on Wednesday as consistent calls made to his mobile phone were not answered and he had yet to respond to the text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report.

It is difficult to determine senators who are in Ndume’s camp because he did not declare his ambition in a public glare where the elected lawmakers in his camp would have featured.

APC, Presidency want to subdue N’Assembly –PDP
But the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the allegations of Nabana showed that he and some other APC leaders did not understand the concept of democracy and separation of powers as well as the workings of the parliament.

In an interview with The Punch, Ologbondiyan accused President Buhari and APC's Adams Oshiomhole of interfering with the election of the National Assembly principal officers.

Ologbondiyan said, “It is laughable for him to have made such a submission. It shows that they do not understand the workings of democracy. It might interest him to know that Adams Oshiomhole, on the day that the Senate and the House of Representatives will be convoked, may end up sitting at the gallery. So maybe, he will read out the names of his own presiding officers from the gallery or in his dream at home.

“…They are the ones creating problems in the parliament. They are the ones who said they would not recognise the party that has over 40 senators in the process of the day-to-day activities of the National Assembly. They are the ones who do not understand how presiding officers are elected in the National Assembly and they claim they will go and read out names on the floor. So, they can never accuse the PDP of interference.”

He added, “The interference is coming from the Presidential Villa and the APC. They want to subdue the independence of the parliament in a manner they tried to subdue the electoral wishes of Nigerians. What they should understand is that the PDP is a democratic party and the PDP is in agreement with Nigerians who have decided to live their lives as democrats. So we would not allow them to suppress the wishes of the people.”
