Pastor Loses Wife To Snake Bite Hours After Marriage

Prophet Patrick Eyaefe, the founder of the Miracle Working God Ministry in Sapele, Delta State, has explained how his wife died from snake bite hours after their wedding on March 29th.

Prophet Eyaefe in an interview with newsmen, said himself and his deceased wife had lived together for eight years and had five children and that he decided to formalise their union this year.

According to him, He said "on March 30th, she went out of their home to go and get sachet water when a snake bit her. He accused the hospital he rushed her to after the bite of negligence which according to him, led to the death of his wife."


“We had been together for eight years, you know as a man of God I was supposed to regularise my marriage, so after eight years and with a growing ministry and five kids, I decided to do the right thing. Now see what has happened after the marriage.

We were relaxing at home after the marriage at about 7 pm on Sunday, March 30, 2019, when she went to buy sachet water and she had hardly left for five minutes when I heard her screaming for help. I dashed down and she told me that a snake just bit her, I took her to the hospital that night and I tied the leg as someone instructed me. When we got to the hospital, after paying N1,000 to register, the doctor was not around.

The nurse who was on duty had to call the doctor before he came and when he eventually arrived, they were looking at her as if her life was not important. The drugs he (the doctor) prescribed for me I went to buy it and when I came back, he insisted I should go back and get the dosage of the drug, and my wife was lying there without being attended to.

When I returned, they tightened the rope I use in tying the leg so that the venom will not spread and right thereafter administering the anti-venom drug, she still died. My wife died on the day I took her to the altar. They left her for too long without attending to her. It was a case of neglect. If they had acted quickly she would not have died. She died leaving five kids for me. How do I go on?”

Reacting to his claim, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr John Akwara, denied the allegation, stating that the doctor on duty did everything possible to save the deceased.

“Snake venoms kill within minutes, the doctor who treated her is a certified medical doctor with over 10 years in service. Snakebite is a snake bite anywhere, five minutes you are gone. We even gave her oxygen, which goes to show how far the damage has been done. Once venom has reached the heart, there is nothing anybody can do about it.” he said

Lagos Police Nab Two Over Murder Of Fresh UNILAG Doctor

The Lagos State Police Command says two suspects are currently being interrogated in connection to the murder of Stephen Urueye, a University of Lagos (UNILAG) graduate and House Officer at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Urueye was stabbed to death on Thursday night right in front of the LUTH gate at Idi-Araba, Lagos. Some Students of UNILAG protested the death of Urueye, who participated in the varsity's convocation ceremony only on Wednesday.

The protesting students said Idi-Araba Road is notorious for habitual robberies and killings by hitmen. One of them said, "We want the Police to do something about it. We are doctors, saving lives. It can't be that our own lives are not safe."

Elkana Bala, the Public Relations Officer of the state command, confirmed the latest development to SR on Friday. He said two arrests had been made and the suspects under interrogation.

Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Killers Of LUTH Doctor, Stephen Urueye

The Lagos Police Command has arrested two persons suspected to have masterminded the killing of a medical graduate of the University of Lagos, Stephen Urueye, at the Idi Araba area of the metropolis yesterday.

Urueye was one of the graduates from the university who participated in the school’s convocation on Wednesday.

According to the Lagos police, the two suspects, Gbadebo Jimoh and Malik Adeboye, were arrested on Friday by operatives from the Itire division.


Both suspects were said to have specialised in snatching phones, money and other valuables in the idi-araba area, where the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) is located.

Both have been transferred to the state criminal investigation department at the Yaba area of Lagos for further investigation.

What Happened At The Presidency As Onnoghen 'Resigned'

The Presidency has yet to confirm the resignation of the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, even as the news gathers momentum across the media.

It was reported that Onnoghen’s resignation letter was submitted to the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, by some Justices of the apex court.

The Justices arrived at the presidential villa few minutes after 

President Muhammadu Buhari left Abuja for Jordan to participate in the World Economic Forum.

A presidency source confirmed to NAN that President Buhari had on Thursday, before his departure to Jordan, received the National Judicial Council’s recommendations on the petitions written against Onnoghen, and the acting CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad.

The report was submitted to the president by his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, who was accompanied by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubalar Malami, at about 2:20p.m on the fateful day.

The Director, Information, NJC, Mr Soji Oye, had Wednesday in a statement confirmed that the council had sent its report to President Buhari after the conclusion of its investigation into the petitions written against Onnoghen and the acting CJN.

After being nominated as the Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, he was confirmed by the Senate on March 1, 2017, and sworn in on 7 March 2017.

Suspension as CJN 

Onnoghen’s trials started when a petition was filed by the civil rights group at the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) alleging that he owns "sundry accounts primarily funded through cash deposits made by himself up to as recently as 10 August 2016, which appear to have been run in a manner inconsistent with financial transparency and the code of conduct for public officials.”

The trial commenced Jan. 14, 2019 at Code of Conduct Tribunal and has been controversial.

Onnoghen is accused of failing to fully declare his assets, Tanko is facing allegations of misconduct.

Lagos Policeman Who Killed Kolade Thrown Into Prison

An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Friday remanded a dismissed Police Inspector, Olalekan Ogunyemi - charged with murdering Kolade Johnson - till May 6.

Magistrate A.O. Salawu remanded Ogunyemi at Ikoyi Prisons, pending advice from Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The court’s order was sequel an application by the police.

Ogunyemi, 45, of No. 17, Alhaji Ede Street, Igando, was docked on a one-count charge of murder.

Prosecuting Inspector Kehinde Olatunde told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 31, at about 5:10pm, at Onipetesi Estate, Idi-Mangoro, Lagos.

He said Ogunyemi, who served in the Anti Cultism Unit of Lagos State Police Command, shot Johnson, a 36-year-old father of one, to death, with his Ak47 rifle.

The offences, the prosecutor said contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Olatunde informed the court that he had a remand application order by the police to remand the defendant for the next 30 days.

The plea of the defendant was not taken by the court, because magistrates’ court don’t have jurisdiction to try a charge of murder.

But the defendant’s counsel, Sola Adeyemi, opposed the 30-day remand request. He prayed the court to instead remand the defendant for the next 14 days.

In a bench ruling, Magistrate Salawu upheld the prosecutor’s application and adjourned till May 6.

Man Who Had 2-Day Erection Has His P*nis Amputated

A man in India had to have his p-nis partially amputated after he developed gangrene from an erection that lasted two days.

The unnamed 52-year-old presented himself to doctors because he couldn't get rid of the 'painful and sustained' erection.

Bungling medics swiftly drained the blood from his penis, but left a catheter in and tightly dressed his p-nis, causing the patient to develop black gangrene.

They were left with little option but to amputate after he reported back to them showing signs of severe tissue damage caused by an acute loss of blood circulation.


Details of the highly-unusual case, which occurred at King George's Medical University in Lucknow, northern India, were published last month in the British Medical Journal .

The man had been suffering from priapism, a medical term for a persistent and painful erection.

It is not known what caused the patient's condition but experts consider an erection lasting more than 48 hours a medical emergency.

The NHS says priapism can be caused by sickle cell disease or by the use of illegal or legal prescription drugs for erectile dysfunction, including Viagra.

"We removed his urethral catheter," Dr Saqib Mehdi wrote in the case report.

"But still the black colour of glans p-nis deepened over the next day and a clear line of demarcation became visible between it and the penile shaft."

Three weeks after the life-changing operation the man was able to urinate as usual and now has a 'healthy wound.'

Dr Mehdi suggested the catheter and tight dressing put on after the procedure could have triggered the gangrene in the patient.
