Soulja Boy Sentenced To 240 Days In Jail …

Soulja Boy will have to spend much of the rest of 2019 behind bars.

A Van Nuys Superior Court judge in California sentenced the rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, to 240 days in jail and 265 days of community service for violating the terms of his probation on a 2014 firearms charge.

The Chicago native was also credited with 40 days of time served.

Dressed in an orange LA County jail jumpsuit, the Cut Dat Check rapper was led into the courtroom with his hands cuffed in front of his stomach.

The judge stated that he had been considering a term of two-years in jail for his latest arrest, which included possession of ammunition and submission of bogus compliance records for community service.

'It really shows a lack of commitment to being on probation and a lack of respect to the court and the probation department,' the judge told the Chicago native in a video posted by TMZ.

Authorities claim Soulja forged paperwork to show community service that he didn't actually fulfill.

Police also found ammunition at his home, in response to a call from a woman who claimed he had held her hostage in his garage in February.

The terms of his probation from his 2014 firearms arrest  strictly forbid him from possessing any guns or ammunition.

Three Selfie-Crazy Indian Teens Crushed By Train

Three teenagers were killed while taking selfies on a railway track in India, the country which researchers say has the worst record for selfie-related deaths.

A fourth youth managed to jump to safety before the accident in Panipat city in the northern state of Haryana, a police officer told AFP Wednesday.

"The victims were busy taking selfies and when they saw a train approaching they jumped to a second track without realising another train was coming on that," M. S. Dabas told AFP.

"One of them saved his life as he jumped on the other side of the track." The group had come to Panipat to attend a wedding. Two of those killed were 19-years old and the third was 18.

Experts warn that youngsters obsessed with social media are going to extreme lengths in order to post selfies seen as daring and risky.

Kidnappers Kill Two Bureau De Change Operators After Collecting N1.6m

Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad attached to the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three members of a syndicate for allegedly kidnapping and killing two bureau de change operators in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the victims – Alhaji Yakubu Musa and Alhaji Hassan Umoru – had gone to carry out a business transaction with the syndicate on March 14, 2019.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Mu’azu, was said to have directed the SARS operatives to investigate the matter when the duo were reported missing.

During investigation and subsequent arrest of the suspects – Oluwatosin Olarewaju, Mayowa Olawuni and Babatunde Idris – the bodies of the operators were reportedly tracked to a septic tank in an abandoned building.

However, it was learnt that the suspected leader of the syndicate escaped.

In his confessional statement, Olanrewaju said the gang bound and shot dead the victims in an abandoned building in the Odogunyan area of Ikorodu after the men paid N1.6m into an account they provided.

He said, “Our leader, Pencil, and I planned the deal. Pencil said I should convince the operators to come that an Alhaja wanted to buy $10,000.

“The operators came on a motorcycle and called us from Trailer Park bus stop, Odogunyan. Pencil asked another motorcycle rider to take the operators to a boys’ quarters around Odogunyan. By the time I joined them at the boys’ quarters, I met them lying down with their hands bound. Pencil asked me to lie on the floor as well to make it look like I did not have a hand in the plan.

“Pencil told them that the Alhaja they came to meet owed him $10,000 and that his gang came to collect the money. They beat up the operators and I also received my fair share of the beating to make it look real.

“The operators begged Pencil to stop beating them; that they would give him money for their freedom. Pencil instructed them to transfer the money into an account. But when he called to know if the money had been paid, the account holder said no.”

Olanrewaju said Pencil changed the game plan and killed the operators to cover up.

“At the point that Pencil changed the plan, he threatened to kill me alongside the operators if he did not receive an alert on the payment. He said he suspected I was pulling pranks by asking the person at the other end not to reveal that he had received the alert.

“One of the operators then suggested that another account should be given to him to pay into. That was when I contacted a nurse who treated me when I was sick. The BDC operators paid in N1.6m to that account.

“By 8pm same day, Pencil and the gang members tore the operators’ clothes and used them to cover their mouths. When I asked him why he was doing that, he asked if I wanted to teach him his job. He took one of the operators to the backyard and later sent for the second one. He shot both of them dead and said that was the only way to cover our tracks since the operators already knew me.

“Afterwards, we contacted the nurse and she withdrew N500,000 initially. She later gave us another N500,000 and a balance of N470,000. I got N340,000 as my share of the deal.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.

Our Politicians Trust ‘Babalawos’ More Than Security Officials, says DSS Boss

Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), says some Nigerian politicians have more confidence in marabouts than security operatives in the ountry.

Speaking at a retreat for incoming governors organised by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Bichi said many politicians invest their trust in marabouts and “babalawos”.

“I joke with politicians that you people trust the marabouts and babalawos more. Once someone tells you nothing will happen to your seat and it happens you just trust that person in all crisis,” he said.

He said there was no lack of intellegence in the country but rather a lack of will to act to combat the security challenges. He said there is a disconnect at the grassroots in intelligence gathering due to the disconnect between the formal and traditional leadership structures.

Bichi also accused local government chairmen of not paying adequate attention to security. He said most of them do not hold security meetings to know what is happening in their localities.

Faces of Kidnappers Who Killed Businessmen After Collecting N1.6m Ransom

Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have arrested three persons for alleged kidnap and murder of two bureau de change (BDC) operators at Ikorodu area of Lagos.

Alhaji Yakubu Musa and Alhaji Hassan Umoru, both from Kebbi State, were on March 14 abducted after they were lured by a gang to a place under the guise of changing money.

The victims were said to have gotten to the destination, only to be taken to an uncompleted building at Odogunyan, Ikorodu, where they were bound, swindled of N1.6million and shot dead.

It was gathered that the gang had provided an account number where the victims transferred N1.6million into before killing them and dumping their bodies in a septic tank.

Those arrested in connection to the crime, Oluwatosin Olarewaju, Mayowa Olawuni and Babatunde Idris, are assisting SARS operatives in their investigation.

Narrating how the victims were killed, Olarewaju said it was the leader of the gang, identified as ‘Pencil’, who killed the victims.

Olarewaju, who admitted to have lured the victims, said they were killed because they already knew him, adding that ‘Pencil’ tore their clothes and used same to gag their mouths before shooting them dead.

He said: “‘Pencil’ and I planned the deal. But the intention was not to kill them. ‘Pencil’ said I should convince the operators to come. That an Alhaja wanted to buy $10,000. The operators came on a motorbike and called us from Trailer Park bus stop, Odogunyan.

“Pencil directed his own ‘okada’ man to take the money changers to a boy’s quarter around Odogunyan. By the time I joined them at the boy’s quarter, I met them lying down with their hands bound. ‘Pencil’ asked me to lie on the floor too, to make it look like I didn’t have a hand in the game.

“Pencil told them that the Alhaja they came to meet was owing him $10,000 and that his gang had come to collect the money. They started beating them. I also received my fair share of the beating to make it look real. The operators begged ‘Pencil’ to stop beating them, that they would give them money for their freedom.

“Pencil instructed them to transfer the money into one Femi’s account. But when ‘Pencil’ called to know if the money had been paid, the account holder said no.

“He became angry and threatened to kill them if he didn’t receive the confirmation of payment. ‘Pencil’ accused me of trying to outsmart him and then said if he didn’t get payment confirmation by 4:55pm, he would kill all of us.”

Continuing, Olarewaju said one of the operators at that point suggested that another account, preferably the same bank as theirs, be given them so that they would do instant transfer.

“That was when I contacted Olufunmilayo, the nurse who treated me when I was ill. The operator paid in N1.6 million into that account. By 8pm that day, they (gang members) tore the operators’ clothes and used it to cover their mouths.

“When I asked ‘Pencil’ why he did that, he asked if I wanted to teach him his job? He took one of the operators to the back and later sent for the second one. He shot both of them dead and said that was the only way to cover up our tracks, since they already knew me.

“We contacted the nurse the following day to go and withdraw the money, but she could only withdraw N500,000. A gang member collected it from her. She later withdrew N500,000 and lastly N470,000. I got N340,000 as my share,” he said.

The Nation learnt that their arrest followed a directive from Police Commissioner Zubairu Muazu to his men to investigate the whereabouts of the operators, following complaints from their colleagues that they had gone missing.

Efforts to get a reaction from police spokesman Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), were not successful last night.

Female Corper Dies Hiding Pregnancy, Doctor Arrested

A medical doctor, James Negedu, has been remanded in the Lafia prison for the death of a member of the National Youth Service Corps, Pascaline Madueke, in the Lafia area of Nasarawa State.

Madueke, who served in Adogi, Lafia East Development area of the state, was said to have lost her life following a surgical operation at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

The lady, who had complained of headache, abdominal pain and malaria, was rushed to a private clinic for treatment, before she was referred to the specialist hospital where she died.

During an interview with The Punch, Negedu said the deceased’s uncle, one Ndubuisi, brought her to his clinic on January 18, adding that Madueke complained of headache, abdominal pain, typhoid, malaria and general body pain.

The doctor stated that after conducting some tests on her, she was given some drugs.

He noted that when her condition worsened, a scan was carried out which revealed that she had a pelvic inflammatory disease, as well as a five-month-old dead foetus in her womb.

Negedu said, “After the scan was carried out, I discovered that the deceased didn’t tell me that she was pregnant. I referred her to the DASH with a note containing the details of the incident. She was operated at the gynecology and obstetrics department of the DASH and she died the following day.”

The doctor, while contesting his detention, stated that he referred the corps member to another hospital because he could no longer manage her.

He said, “The doctor that carried out the operation on her has been moving freely without any arrest and prosecution. Why should I be detained for referring her to a government hospital?”

When contacted, the Nasarawa State NYSC Coordinator, Zainab Isa, said Madueke died after a surgery, adding that she did not know the cause of her death.

She said, “I discovered that she died three days before I was informed about her case. I got to know about the incident through the Anambra State coordinator of the scheme who said that some people came to her office in Anambra and informed her that a corps member who was serving in Nasarawa State had died on January 24, 2019.

“When I visited the hospital to see her remains, they were already decomposing. We contacted her next of kin and the mother said they wanted the body of their daughter for burial. We provided an ambulance and the body was taken to Imo State for burial,” the coordinator said.

Isa stated that the matter was reported to the Department of State Services, Nasarawa State Command, and the Nigeria Police Force, which investigated the incident.

Hemp Dealer To Die By Hanging For Killing Policeman

An Anambra State High Court has sentenced an Indian hemp dealer, Chukwuebuka Nneji-Olona, to death by hanging for killing a policeman, Corporal Oluwadaini Temidayo.

The policeman was said to have been killed at Oye-Olisa Market, Ogbunike, in the Oyi Local Government Area of the state in 2014.

It was learnt that Temidayo used to harass the hemp dealers, which infuriated them. Nneji-Olona was said to have murdered the victim.

A source told Punch correspondent that the dealer, who felt guilty for killing the policeman, went to a witch doctor for a charm that would prevent the police from arresting him.

The source said, “The defendant, feeling guilty that he killed the victim and for fear of being caught, ran to the house of an herbalist for a ritual that would remove the feeling of guilt that was disturbing him.

“The witch doctor, rather than obliging Nneji-Olona’s request, reported the matter to the local vigilante operatives, who arrested and handed him over to the officers of the Divisional Police Station at Nteje for investigation and prosecution.”

The presiding judge, Justice O.C. Amaechina, in his judgement, said, “After considering the evidence before me, I am left with no doubt as to the facts put forward by the state.

“I accordingly hold that the facts alleged by the state have been established beyond reasonable doubt.

“I, therefore, hold the accused liable of unlawfully killing the victim and find him guilty as charged. Hence, the defendant is sentenced to death by hanging.”

The prosecution counsel, Mrs Stella Ofokansi, said the judgement would serve as a deterrent to others.

She added, “I hope people will learn that they cannot engage in unlawful mob action and get away with it.”

Former NAPIMS boss, Dafe, arrested in US for S*x Trafficking

Houston Police Department has arrested Dafe Sejebor, former group general manager of National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), over his alleged involvement in human trafficking.

Sejebor was arrested along 46 others in an investigation that lasted 10 days with focus on Fort Bend County and the Katy areas of Texas.

The Naija big boy was retired from NAPIMS, a subsidiary of NNPC in August 2015.

According to Click2Houston, the 47 suspects arrested include 27 woman and 20 men.

It added that eight were confirmed as victims, including 2 juveniles, another eight charged with s*x and human trafficking-related offenses.

Some of those charged with s*x and human trafficking also face other charges related to unlawful possession of weapons, and narcotics charges and possession of controlled substances, tampering with evidence and pros-titution.

“We are here to help, first and foremost. We understand the problem of human trafficking. We understand what it does to the victim, how to fix the victim,” said John Wall, an officer with the Houston police department vice-division.

“We understand they are scared to come forward, but we are going to do everything in our power to keep them safe, give them the services they need to move forward in life.

“If you think about it, children (and) young adults spend an enormous amount of time on social media, and they are vulnerable. They don’t understand the risk involved in talking to individuals they don’t know on that type of forum.

“And, at the end of the day, we hope we can put the trafficker where he belongs, and that’s in prison.”

We Can't Win Kogi With Yahaya Bello As Candidate - Kogi APC Stakeholder

Ahead of the November 2 governorship election in Kogi State, the Kogi APC Stakeholders Forum, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the national body of the party not to foist the incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello on them as its candidate, else the party will lose the election.

Describing Bello as non-performing, the group stated that the governor has damaged President Buhari’s image and goodwill and that of the party, given his capacity to be so cruel to his fellow citizens.

They said that attempting to foist the non-performing governor as candidate by the party will be a great national disservice and will lead to the loss of the state to the opposition.

“We will like to restate that Governor Bello has traumatised, inflicted poverty and fear on our people. People who dare to raise their voice to complain or protest this mistreatment have been summarily killed or intimidated to the extent that a reign of terror is foisted on the people of the state.

“The APC, of which you are the leader, must have the courage to say NO to Bello’s desire to remain Governor of Kogi State for history will judge all of us for all our actions and inactions where and when we had the authority and opportunity to effect a positive change in the affairs of men."
