Adele breaks silence over divorce from husband with savage post

Adele has broken her silence weeks after her split from husband Simon Konecki was announced. The break-up had been confirmed in a statement by the singer's representatives last month. Adele and Simon were married in 2016 after five years of dating and share six-year-old son Angelo.

Proving she's lost none of her sense of humour through her latest heartbreak, Adele returned to social media on Wednesday with a hilarious meme.

Taking to Instagram , Adele shared two side-by-side snaps of her - one where she was sobbing and another showing the pop star oozing sass.

"When you catch yourself in your feelings then you remember who you are," read the caption.

The award-winning chart-topper was soon inundated with praise from her loyal fanbase.

"Adele is a boss bitch!!!!!!" responded one.

"That’s right lady!!! Remember who you are!!!" added another.

Tiwa Savage leaves Mavin Records after 7 years

Don Jazzy has just announced the departure of Tiwa Savage from Mavin Record. The singer who has been with the record label for 7 years also say it's an emotional moment for her. This comes a day after Simi also walked away from X3M refusing to renew her contract.

While announcing her departure, Don Jazzy write; ''Our darling Tiwatope. We at Mavin would like to say a very big thank you for being such an inspiration to all of us, a friend, a sister. It’s been an epic journey with you and we are very proud of what we have achieved together.

As you start this new chapter in your life we want you to know that we are solidly behind you and can’t wait for the world to see what we have always believed you can be. Your jersey as the First Lady of Mavin will forever be yours as we do not intend to fill that position with anyone else. We love you from the bottom of heart and pray GOD’s blessings continue to follow you. Amennnn. #Mavin @tiwasavage''

Tiwa also replied under his comment section writing; ''When I got pregnant I was nervous to tell you so I decided to tell you at the airport when we were traveling for a show. I figured you couldn’t really say much in a public place 🤣 but then you told me you already knew and had already been thinking of a plan to keep my brand going while I took some time out. I was shocked because you weren’t phased by the news, you had already started making plans. I recorded the RED album while I was heavy and I would fall asleep during sessions and you and the whole team would crash in the studio right there with me till I woke up again and was ready to finish recording. There was nothing you would hear about me that ever made you mad, no outfit was too crazy, no headline was too controversial for you to handle no crazy outburst no nothing. If I said today wasn’t emotional for me I would be LYING. Please promise me that our relationship will never change. I only want to make you proud of me. Not every super hero has an S on their chest. You are my superhero DON DORO BUCCI. 7 years, 7 the number of perfection. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER. Mavin 4life #DiaFada 🏽🏼️''

Brad Pitt's '£60.5m gift to ex-wife Jennifer Aniston on her birthday' Revealed

Brad Pitt's schmoozing of ex-wife Jennifer Aniston reportedly hit new heights on her 50th birthday, when he revealed his $79million (£60.57million) gift.

Brad and Jennifer called time on their marriage in 2005 but it has been rumoured that Brad still carries a torch for his ex and a reconciliation could be in the offing.

Jennifer split from her husband Justin Theroux in March 2018 but it was still a shock when Brad turned up at her 50th birthday celebrations.

Plus, when it came to gifts, not many could have trumped what Brad allegedly sorted out for Jen.
The house they used to share in Beverly Hills was on the market and when they originally split, sources close to Jennifer said that "losing their dream home worsened the heartache of their divorce and it was one of her biggest regrets not buying Brad out".

Well, it seems that this is not a problem now as Brad has apparently agreed to splash out $79million to buy the house back, just so that he can give it to Jennifer.

The actress was reportedly emotional when she found out his intentions, which came after the pair apparently reminisced about their times together in the marital home.

Jealous husband slice man's ear for saying 'hi' to his wife

A jealous husband sliced a piece of a man's ear off with a machete for saying "hi" to his wife.

Ajmal Mahroof flew into a rage after spotting the victim as he walked through a park and asked him "you have been talking to my wife - why?"

A judge called it an 'over-the-top' reaction and said all that happened between Mahroof's wife and the victim was an 'exchange of greetings'.

The victim was left permanently disfigured and scarred from the wound after surgeons had to stitch his left ear back together after the attack.

Mahroof, 37, was jailed for four years after pleading guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a blade in public.

Leeds Crown Court heard Mahroof carried out the attack close to Hyrstlands Park, Batley, West Yorkshire, on October 17 last year.Jealous husband slice man's ear for saying 'hi' to his wife

Women Arise protests illegal detention of Rofiat Oladepo and 9-Month Old baby by Police

The Women Arise for Change Initiative on Monday, 29th April 2019 in Osogbo, Osun State, protested against the illegal detention of a nursing mother, Mrs Rofiat Oladepo and her nine months old son by the Zone 11 of the Nigeria Police Force.

The protest which was led by the President of Women Arise and the winner of the American Government's Award of International Woman of Courage, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin had over 200 women and men protesters who defied the scorching sun to express their displeasure over the illegal detention of Mrs Rofiat Oladepo and her son, a minor, a nine months old who were arrested and kept in custody of the Nigeria Police at the Zone 11 Headquarters in Osogbo in lieu of her husband.

The organization described the action of the police as a violation of the victims' universally recognised   fundamental human rights and the law of the land.

In her remarks while being received by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Zone, AIG Leye Oyebade and his management team, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin  asserted that, "We are pained and disappointed that the Nigeria Police held in custody a nursing mother and her baby, in lieu of her husband.  Not only were they arrested and detained by proxy, they were also detained beyond the constitutionally  sanctioned period.

It is most nauseating to learn that Mrs Oladepo and her baby who were arrested on the 24th April, 2019 at Dural Toaheed, Oke Anu area of Ede and taken to Zone 11, Gbogan road, Oshogbo, were kept in inhuman conditions, only to be released later and given the sum of N500 (five hundred Naira) only as their transport fare back to Ede".

Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin further informed AIG Oyebade that since their release from Police custody, Mrs Rofiat Oladepo and her baby have been hospitalised. She therefore demanded that the officers and men of the Nigerian police who conducted such unprofessional and illegal act be unmasked and brought to book while also requesting for the payment of medical bills being incurred by the victims at the hospital and immediate Public apology to Mrs Oladepo and her 9-months old son.

While responding to the demands of Women Arise President, AIG Oyebade appealed to the protesters to please stay further action as he would carry out  immediate investigation into the matter and ensure that justice is done forthwith. "One of the hallmarks of our ethics, is policing with the fear of God aside the general rule of policing with integrity." AIG Oyebade said.

He further said that such impunity would never be allowed to thrive under his purview, as he further expressed the willingness of the Nigeria Police Force,  under the incumbent leadership, to collaborate with the civil society in promoting a people's friendly police force that will ensure total compliance with human rights violations.

X3M Music announces Simi's departure following expiration of recording contract

X3M Music yesterday announced the departure of one of its recording artistes Simisola Ogunleye following the expiration of her recording contract.

The Lagos-based label confirms, in a statement signed by A&R executive Vincent Nwanze, that both parties have determined to not renew the contract.

In a career that is still unfolding, Simi has emerged one of the most remarkable music talents of her generation; combining a peerless skill for writing and arranging, with a vocal prowess like none before her.

Her final album for X3M music ‘Omo Charlie Champagne’ was released on April 19, 2019.

X3M music is reputed to have a bias for original, alt music; especially in an industry dominated by pop.

X3M Music’s management said: ‘We only sign artistes that we love and believe in. We know our taste in music is rather different; but we only sign talents who meet that taste. Fortunately, we have been able to find millions of music lovers here and abroad, who share similar tastes, as is evident in the success of all the artistes we have worked with, including Simi who is without any doubt one of the biggest music talents in the country today…’

Stop Jailing Nigerians For Petty Offences - Group Warns Lagos, Other States

An advocacy group, Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action, has called on the governments of Lagos, Abia, Enugu and Kano states as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to review their practice of jailing petty offenders, including street hawkers.

PRAWA said following a survey it conducted in the four states and the FCT, it realised that there were certain laws in the states which seem to target the economically and socially disadvantaged persons in the society, thus criminalising poverty.

In its “Baseline Report on Decriminalisation and Declassification of Petty Offences,” which it published with the support of Open Society Initiative of West Africa and presented to the public last Friday, PRAWA lamented that most of the people being arrested for petty offences, such as loitering, wandering, inadequate dressing/behaviours, etc, were people who have no shelter and are unemployed.

The group contended that security reasons could not be a justification to arrest and imprison such people as it would seem that the states were further oppressing the poor people rather than empowering them economically.

It, therefore, called on the states to devise an approach to profitably engage these vulnerable groups so that they could become economically viable.

It said, “Declassifying and decriminalising these petty offences would be a much needed initiative for the promotion of a better society devoid of discrimination and segregation of the socially and economically disadvantaged.

“In the real sense, some existing laws are practically criminalising poverty as those petty offences, such as loitering, wandering, inappropriate dressing/behaviours, etc, are common among the poor who lack shelter and are unemployed.

“This raises the question as to whether it is justified to further oppress the economically and socially maginalised population in our society.”

PRAWA called on the government to “wake up to its responsibility of protecting the citizens, most especially the vulnerable population and to responsibly act on the content of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.”

The Chief Judge of the FCT, Justice I.U. Bello, who wrote the forward to the 31-page report, said there was a responsibility on the government and developmental partners “to assist the poor and those in vulnerable situations by using the instrument of the law to lessen their exposure and vulnerability to legal, economic and social challenges.”

“We must and should work together to implement programmes and policies not only to end poverty in all its dimensions but to also decriminalise and declassify those offences that seem to target the poor and marginalised persons,” Justice Bello stressed.

In her remarks during the public presentation of the baseline report in Ikeja on Friday, PRAWA’s founder, Dr Uju Agomo, said it was morally wrong for government to criminalise economic activities that poor people engage in as a means of earning their daily bread and jail them as a result.

She said, “When we criminalise petty offences, when we arrest people who have little means to survive and process them in such a way that makes them worse off, we are actually shooting ourselves in the foot. It is criminalisation of poverty and criminalisation of poverty cannot be a good way to go for any country. There are social and economic responses that any given nation ought to put in place to ensure that those who require help, in terms of enhancing their economic power, are catered to, rather than pushing them into places of detention.”
