This is how someone just risked his life to a country he could be beheaded. Here are trending photos of an Indian man on crutches, who was nabbed with cocaine concealed in his leg and wrapped with bandage.

According to reports, he has been into the trick for a long time, but this time he ran out of luck.

The man after his arrest, automatically became humble and cold knowing the penalty he's faced with.

Internet users who reacted to the video, were shocked to their marrows with the quantity and way the man concealed the drugs and his level of forgetfulness on what he would face if he gets caught.

So sad! Asos billionaire buries his 3 children killed in Sri Lanka bombings [Photos]

A funeral service has been held for the three children of the Asos billionaire who were killed in the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka.

Fashion tycoon Anders Holch Povlsen was seen comforting his wife Anne and daughter Astrid as the flower-covered coffins of his three children Alfred, Alma and Agnes emerged from their hearses at Aarhus Cathedral in Denmark.

Astrid was seen walking with her parents towards one of the three hearses to cut a bouquet of balloons from a coffin.

Yesterday's service was attended by members of the Danish Royal Family and the country's Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen. Crown Princess Mary could be seen holding her daughter Princess Isabella as she was flanked by her son Prince Vincent and daughter Princess Josephine.

At a memorial service last week Mr Povlsen described the family's loss as 'utterly incomprehensible' but thanked family, friends and neighbours in the Danish town of Brande for their love and support and promised to come through the tragedy 'together'.

He was staying with his family at the Shangri-La Hotel in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo when it was hit by suicide bombers Zahran Hashim, suspected plot mastermind, and Ilham Ibrahim, the son of a millionaire spice merchant.

His son Alfred and two daughters Alma and Agnes were killed in the blast, while his third daughter Astrid survived. It is thought he was injured in the attacks himself, though it is not clear how seriously he was hurt.

'My Husband R*ped My Daughter, Bathed Me With Acid’

The unfortunate trend of partners killing their spouses is on the increase. One trend that however seems to have abated overtime is that of disgruntled partners bathing those they once cherished or promised to love till death do them apart with acid.
But that was the lot of Anulika, a mother of two, who was recently assaulted with the destructive liquid by her husband.

The Nation's Yetunde Oladeinde reports.
She is the exact image you don’t want to behold. Her face – or what it has become, courtesy of her vicious husband – is the type you wouldn’t even wish for your worst enemy. If only she knew a union with him would end this way….

But when Anulika Fidelia Onyeachonam met her husband, Peter Onyeachonam Chinwuba, it was like a dream come true. The young man fitted into her definition of ‘dream man’ and happily they tied the knot after a brief courtship. They both looked forward to a blissful life together, forever after.

Sweet romance? Yes, it was. And gradually the union produced their first child, a boy and later the second, a girl. “We lived happily together, even though he was a civil servant. I was happy and thank God that everything was working as planned,’ Anulika recalls.

Unfortunately, the dream for a happy married life together was short-lived. “Something I never imagined happened and that made me to change my mind about the marriage. I couldn’t believe it would ever happen to me. My husband defiled our only daughter and I made up my mind that it was over.”

Did he object to her decision to call it quit?
“Not at all. Instead he decided to take the laws into his hands,” Annuli says amidst sobs. Gradually, she found her voice again and continued her sad story.

“It is such a sad story and I can’t really believe that this is happening to me at all. The disaster happened in the afternoon of April 17, 2019. On that fateful day, I told him that it was over between us and that I was no longer interested in the marriage. We were both at the Welfare Department where they granted him custody of our two children.”

Anulika continued: “One is four years plus going to five years and the other is just three years old. I was told that since the children were below six years, they were going to give them to him. I accepted and said that the decision was okay and we left the welfare office. My husband was with his sister and they left hurriedly.”

End of the road and Anulika’s heart was in disarray. What does life hold for her in the next few weeks, months and years – especially without her children, her sources of joy?

Suddenly something happened. Something she never expected from a man with whom she had lived for years as man and wife.

“As I was walking outside the welfare office, I saw my husband running towards me with his sister. Initially, I thought he wanted to start another fight with me, but before I knew what was going on, he had poured a liquid substance, which turned out to be acid all over me.

“I was in total pains. My husband and his sister immediately turned and made to run away. Luckily the security men at the scene ran after them. They arrested my husband and took him to the police division in Awka.”

His sister however escaped and has not been seen since then. “I was taken to the government teaching hospital in Awka, where they have been treating me. Naturally, my people were devastated when they saw the extent of the damage.”

“My husband is still in Police custody as we speak. But that is not enough, because he has ruined my life and I want justice. He raped his two-year-old daughter! Naturally, I was very angry with him. When I challenged him, he threatened that he was going to kill me. That was why I left the house and ran away from home. Now I know that he really meant to kill me.”

Was he like this at the beginning of the marriage?
“No, he wasn’t like this at the beginning. He was a civil servant and I never imagined that he could do such a thing to me. But I thank God that I am alive. I believe that once there is life, there is hope.”

Family call for justice
Anulika’s family is hard hit by the development and they are asking for justice. Hardest hit is Anulika’s mum, Rose Ogugua. It’s been tears galore since the day she heard the bad news.

“Na so we see am ooo”, was all she could muster, amidst sighs and hisses. “This man wants to destroy my daughter. I just don’t know what to say at all. Is this how people repay good for evil He has messed up the life of my precious daughter.”

Asked if she had any premonition that the marriage would end this way, the old woman answers this way: “No, not at all. We liked him at the beginning and gave him the support required as a family. But now, we don’t like him anymore. How can you like someone who treated your daughter this way,” she asked rhetorically.
She continued: “Let his people go and treat my daughter. She is in a real bad state and I hate to imagine that all this is happening to her. I also plead with the government to come to our aid; my daughter needs care and attention to survive this ordeal. Unfortunately, we don’t know anybody, and we don’t have money.”

The victim’s cousin, Uche Okanimee captures the gory incident this way: “The magistrate court behind Nigerian Prisons, Awka sat on April 29th. The accused person through his lawyers asked for bail but it wasn’t granted. The case has been adjourned to June 18th 2019. A very surprising thing happened in the hospital where my cousin is being hospitalised. While court was sitting, the DCO came to the hospital and forcefully took another photograph of the victim. Her brother who was in the court confirmed that at no point during the court sitting was there any instruction to get another photograph of the victim. Then they are now denying going to Amaku General Hospital to take the photographs. We are worried about the safety of the victim, her life is very important to us.”

She added: “It is a very sad occurrence and I still can’t believe that he could do such a thing. I usually read about such things and now that it has happened to someone close to me, it is so shocking. For me, the life of the victim is our concern; you can imagine the pain that she is going through at the moment. It is both physical and emotional pain.

Saraki's Wife: No One Is Bigger Than Nigeria

Wife of Senate President Bukola Saraki, Mrs. Toyin Bukola Saraki, while reflecting on the just concluded general elections has said that there are lessons for all, both losers and winners.

Her words: “whether we win or we lose, we always learn, and the one thing to learn is that Nigeria’s future and how we document and catalogue the past is bigger than anyone of us as an individual.”

She spoke while delivering her goodwill message at the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) 2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM) Conference: FCT Night in Abuja.

The President and Chairman of Council, Mukhtar Sirajo, earlier noted that relationships in Nigeria have cracked but the institute was concerned about proffering solutions to the breakdown.

The solution, according to him, would prevent the future generation from bothering themselves over how to solve the problems because posterity would see them as those that evaded the problems and bequeathed it to them.

He vowed that the NIPR would seek solution and handover a better society to the future generation so that all they would bother over will be what happens in their time.

Sirajo said “We don’t want to bequeath a legacy of handling a problem that we created for them. We will solve our problems ourselves. There is no breakthrough to get to that solution other than public relations.”

He told leaders that the citizenry is looking towards a shift of focus to governance.

Trouble In APC As North Central Men Move To Stop Gbaja

Two of the three prominent speakership aspirants from the North-Central geopolitical zone have joined forces against the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and Majority Leader of the House of Reps, Femi Gbajabiamila, The Punch can report.

The lawmakers, Mr Mohammed Bago of Niger State and John Dyegh of Benue State, have insisted on the zoning of the speakership seat in the Ninth National Assembly to the North-Central zone, claiming that the area had not produced a Speaker or Deputy Speaker since 1999.

It was learnt that Dyegh, on Tuesday, visited Bago at his campaign office in Abuja, calling for a joint struggle for the recognition of North-Central by the APC in the sharing of leadership positions.

Speaking on his discussion with Dyegh, Bago, in an interview with The Punch, said he had agreed to work with his co-aspirant to fight Gbajabiamila at the speakership poll.

Bago said, “He (Dyegh) came to us, to identify with our cause and that he also believes in the North-Central speakership project. Therefore, he wants us to form an alliance so that we can foster the aspiration of the North-Central. If we are able to achieve that, then we will choose among ourselves one person that will go for the position.

“Don’t forget that Dyegh was the Director-General of Mohammed Wase’s campaign organisation. But he has visited me for collaboration.”

Bago also noted that he started the campaign for North-Central speakership, accusing the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, of desperation while alleging that Gbajabiamila was imposed on the party as its speakership candidate.

He stated, “I started this issue of equity, justice and fairness, and all of them have lent their voices to my struggle because it is a collective one. When somebody was addressing me, he said he read in the newspapers that the (Niger) state Chairman of APC said they were (members) with the party (on Gbajabiamila). I said it was in order and I did not have issues with that.

“As a state chapter of the party, they must also comply with the directives of the national body. But they cannot ask why the party is doing this. Is it the decision of the National Executive Committee or National Working Committee. Who decided; who and who sat? We need the minutes of the meeting that decided that they would endorse people. You can macromanage the situation to say, ‘take it to this zone or that zone’, you cannot microzone to an individual. It shows desperation of an aspiration.

“The ‘coup de’tat’ that brought the APC to government was orchestrated in the National Assembly, particularly in the House of Representatives and (the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola) Tinubu, from outside, was part of the coup de’tat. He provided the tools that were used and the awareness of members. Because we understand his ways, we are very wary of what he wants to do.”

When contacted on Friday, Dyegh also confirmed the meeting and the planned alliance with Bago.

“It was a solidarity meeting so that the speakership will come to the North-Central. Bago is not my enemy; he is my friend. My visiting him was in solidarity, to show to the world that this thing that we are doing is in friendship and it must come to the North-Central. We must work together and make sure that it comes to the zone,” he said.

When reminded that there were about 20 speakership aspirants who were also demanding that the Speaker should come from their zones, Dyegh said, “We feel it is ours; any other persons doing it are just trying their luck.”

When the lawmaker was also reminded that the APC had already zoned the speakership to the South-West and endorsed Gbajabiamila as its candidate, he said, “It is not over until it is over. We still think there is room for negotiation. We still feel very strongly that the party made a mistake by taking it to the South-West which already has the Vice-President.

“If they are taking the speakership to the South-West, they should take the Senate presidency to the North-West. If you are giving the Vice-President, the Speaker; give the President, the Senate President to balance it.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us; it does not belong to individuals. The North-Central has worked for the unity of this country for the APC and the government of the day, particularly President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.

“Why would they think that our votes don’t matter? We brought the third largest votes over and above the South-West. So, why would they take what rightly belongs to us and give it to the South-West which already has the Vice-President? These are the points we are raising.”

OMG! Son Beats Mother To Death, Then Hangs Himself

Tragedy has struck the Ayotunde family of Oyinmo Quarters in Ikare Akoko in the Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State following the killing of a woman by her son.

The son, identified only as Gbenga, allegedly killed his 57-year-old mother, Ajimo, in Akure on Thursday after a heated argument led to fisticuffs.

According to a source, Gbenga fled Akure to Ikare Akoko where he committed suicide inside the family house on Friday.

The source said the mother of five had three children with Gbenga’s father in Ikare before remarrying in Akure where she was living before the incident occurred.

The source said, “Gbenga, after killing his mother in Akure on Thursday, escaped to Ikare Akoko where he stayed with his grandmother at Oyinmo Quarters. When he suspected that efforts were being made to hand him over to the police, he sneaked into the kitchen at about 3am on Friday to hang himself while everybody in the house was asleep.

"It was a relation, who wanted to go to use the restroom in the morning that saw his lifeless body dangling and raised the alarm.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, saying the police had begun an investigation into the matter.

Nigeria's Insecurity May Get Out Of Control - British Govt.

The British government has warned that the security condition of Nigeria has the potential of spiralling out of control if necessary measures are not taken immediately.

It therefore said it is considering stepping up its military efforts to help the Nigerian government defeat Boko Haram, following a rise in terrorist activity in the country’s north-east in the past year.

The UK foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt said on Wednesday after visiting the region that he would be discussing what more the British government can do in terms of aid and military support to combat the terrorist group, warning the crisis had the potential to trigger a humanitarian catastrophe on the scale of that in Yemen.

Britain provides £240m in aid to Nigeria, of which £100m goes to the north-east, making it the second-largest donor after the US, and giving the UK a sizeable stake in what happens in the region.

Boko Haram and Islamic State in west Africa have terrorised the region for several years, but their activities came to the world’s attention when hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped in 2014.

British military personnel in Abuja and the wider region are giving strategic advice to Nigerian forces on how to run counterinsurgency operations, with their advice focused on combining humanitarian and military activities.

He said the crisis had spread to Niger, Chad and Cameroon. “There is a potential solution here … Nigeria is huge country and it is very stretched,” Hunt added.

Asked if he supported an increase in military action in the region, the UK foreign secretary said: “I think the crucial deciding factor is the willingness and enthusiasm of the Nigerian government and the Nigerian army to work closely with us – we would like to support and help them, but they are a sovereign nation and they have got to want our help.”

He said Britain wanted to bring holistic solutions, suggesting by implication that the Nigerian army has focused too heavily on militaristic solutions. “I think our approach is potentially a very significant one, because we could bring not just the British army but also DfID [the Department for International Development] and our experience in holistic solutions to these kind of situations,” Hunt added.

“This is a region of Africa that is being massively destabilised by conflict. These things can escalate quite quickly and get out of control. We know from Sri Lanka that Daesh [Isis] are looking to make their presence felt now they have lost their territory. We have to be vigilant.”

He said Sri Lanka was not on anyone’s radar, and showed how threats can escalate. Nigeria was “an area where all the warning signs are there”, he said, adding that not all the conflict was driven by religion.

“The feedback I got from NGOs on the ground is that lack of trust between the authorities and local people is one of the things that is fuelling the problem at the moment. The Nigerian army strategy is largely about herding people into towns and saying if you are not in a secure area, we are going to assume you are Boko Haram and/or Islamic State west Africa,” he said.

“Such an approach was understandable in the short term, but the long-term risk is that you are depriving people of their livelihoods and their farms. There are 2 million people displaced living there at the moment in pretty horrific circumstances.

“Both NGOs and military analysts fear the recent increase in violence reflects changes in the terrorist leadership, and a failure by the Nigerian military to establish humanitarian plans to follow the military clearances of areas. The brutal methods only lead to a loss of support for the military.”

Woman, Accomplice Lure Her Friend To Bush To Rob Him

A 27-year old woman and her male accomplice have been arrested by the police for allegedly robbing a facebook friend of his valuables in Ogidi, Anambra State.

The prime suspect, Ogochukwu Onourah, was said to have lured the victim, Emerole Ikechukwu from Imo State to Ogidi where he was robbed.

They took the sum of N17,000, his ATM card and other valuables from him. The suspect had sent an okada rider who picked the victim on arrival to the bush where he was robbed at gunpoint.

Confirming the arrest, the Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, said the victim’s bag containing his clothes were recovered.

According to him: “On 3/5/2019 at about 2:15 pm, one Emerole Ikechukwu ‘m’ of Irete village Owerri reported at Ogidi Police Station that a female facebook friend lured him from Imo State to Ogidi.

“Upon arrival at about 1:15pm, the supposed friend directed a bike man who picked and took him to the bush where he was robbed at gunpoint of his money cash sum of #7000, his ATM card where another sum of #10,000 was withdrawn and other valuables.

“Following the report, Police detectives attached to Ogidi Division traced and arrested one Abuchi Mba ‘m’ aged 23 years of Ikenga Ogidi and recovered the victim bag containing his clothes from him.

Shock As Boko Haram Seize Military Base In Borno

Boko Haram jihadists have seized a military base in northeast Nigeria, days after an attack left five troops dead and 30 others missing, security sources and residents disclosed on Saturday.

Fighters from the IS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province in trucks and on motorcycles stormed the base in the town of Magumeri, 50 kilometres Maiduguri late on Friday.

The militants overran the base for hours, hauling away weapons before they were forced out.

“The terrorists dislodged troops from the base after an intense fight,” a military officer told AFP.

“We lost weapons and equipment to the terrorists but it is not clear if there was any human loss,” said the officer, who asked not to be named.

The jihadists arrived in the town around 5:00 pm (1600 GMT) and engaged troops in an hour-long fight before they “gained the upper hand and chased the troops away,” militia leader Gremah Kaka told AFP.

“The insurgents overpowered the soldiers and forced them to flee into the bush,” he said.

Kaka said they stayed in the base for “more than four hours” before they were dislodged by reinforcements from another base in Gubio, 46 kilometres away.

Last week, the jihadists raided a military base in Mararrabar Kimba, 135 kilometres from Maiduguri, killing five troops and stealing weapons, while some 30 troops are listed as missing.

ISWAP has since July last year targeted dozens of military bases in attacks that saw the jihadists kill scores of soldiers. The military authorities have always denied any casualties.

How Kidnappers Abduct Son After Collecting N2.5m Ransom Meant For Release Of Father

Facts have emerged on how an 18-year-old youg man, Abubakar Sani of Birnin Magaji community in Zamfara State was assigned to hand over a N2.5 million ransom to the abductors of his father.

However, reports revealed that he too has been abducted by the kidnappers.

Sunusi Sani, the elder brother of the boy, told PT that the ransom was agreed during negotiation with the suspected bandits on the telephone.

He said: “We sent the boy with the money. He was, however, abducted alongside our father.”

He said the bandits abducted Abubakar after collecting the ransom and also took away the motorcycle he rode to the location. Sunusi said the kidnappers have demanded an additional ransom. He said the bandits called and confirmed that they had abducted the ransom bearer too. “They said we have to pay N30 million ransom to secure the release of Sani and father.

“Our father has been in captivity for two months. We spend months sourcing for the N2.5 million only for the bandits to abduct another family member and requested for additional ransom. “We were speechless about the development. We don’t have anything to add, we have left everything in the hand of God,” Sunusi said.

Kidnapping for ransom has continued in Zamfara State despite the deployment of security personnel and billions of naira to improve the security situation. Armed bandits attack and abduct many in peasants communities at will. They kill and demand millions of naira as ransom.

The raining season has arrived but many farmers in this agrarian location will not be cultivating the land for fear of abduction. That's the sorry state of many Nigerians today. Sigh!

SA Police Kill Nigerian Man, Claim He Committed Suicide

A Nigerian man identified as Ebuka Udugbo has been allegedly killed by the South African police. This is according to a report by the president, Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa (NICASA), Ben Okoli, who made the confirmation of the unfortunate incident.

Okoli, in a letter to the Consul General, Nigerian Consulate in South Africa, explained that the late Ebuka Udugbo on April 28 had a disagreement with one Miss Linda, who was his girlfriend and was subsequently arrested by South African Police.

He was later reported dead in their custody.

He said: “The information we got initially was that he committed suic*de while in the South African Police custody in Cape Town. We conducted our own preliminary investigation over the circumstances surrounding his death.

“What we discovered was really shocking and disheartening from our findings. “The late Udugbo had a quarrel with his girlfriend and left the house at about 9 a.m on April 28 to avoid further altercation with his girlfriend.”

According to him, the deceased was arrested by the Police in town and taken to his house where he was severely beaten before being taken to their station.

“The police took his car keys, left the car by the way and drove with him back to his house in the Police car along with the girlfriend. He was severely beaten by the cops in his house and he fainted. At this point the landlord’s son feared and told the police to take him to the hospital.

“The police refused, and instead they took him to the police station where they claimed that he had allegedly killed himself.”

He further stated that Udugbo’s relatives went to the station and were told that he had committed suicide.

“We do not accept this police story, we believed that he was killed right in the police station and hanged afterwards. His case was that of domestic violence, and does not warrant the police to beat him since he did not in any way resist arrest.”
