Insecurity: IGP is losing weight, working very hard – President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the Acting Inspector-General of Police was working hard to curtail insecurity in the country which has made him to lose weight.

President Buhari also said that as he was back from a 10-day private visit to London, the United Kingdom, UK, he hoped that Nigerians would allow him to settle down and set up his cabinet.

The President who spoke to the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, oh his arrival at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja also declined to disclose whether he would have an extended cabinet in his second tenure that starts from May 29.

While wishing Nigerians the best of luck as he returned from his trip, he appealed to Nigerians to allow him settle down to do the work he was elected to do.


Asked on what kind of people expected to makeup his cabinet and whether he would have and whether there would be an expanded cabinet, he simply replied “I won’t tell you.”

Also asked to comment on the insinuation that he decided to travel out of the country to prepare the list of his cabinet for his second tenure, he said, “I didn’t discus it with anybody so I don’t know how they got the information”.

Kim Kardashian admits she's willing to give up reality TV for a career in prison reform

Kim Kardashian has revealed she is willing to give up her highly lucrative media career in order to focus on the rather more challenging task of prison reform, and has already taken on an apprenticeship at a law firm.

The TV personality is keen to emulate late father Robert Kardashian by studying law, and has been buoyed by her successful campaign to free Alice Marie Johnson.

Johnson was serving a lifetime sentence for a non-violent, first time drug offence until Kim, 38, petitioned President Donald Trump for her release from Aliceville Correctional Facility in Alabama.


Speaking on the latest episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the reality star admitted she was studying law while juggling her responsibilities as a working mother of three.

It’s kind of crazy because I’m learning it all as I go,' she explained. 'I spend more time on this than I do anything else. It’s insane but it’s so fun to be around people that are super smart and get it and want the same thing.'

Kim's passion for law was inspired by her father Robert, who famously formed part of OJ Simpson's defense during the disgraced former sportsman's trial for the murder of ex-wife Nicole and her friend, Ron Goldman. 

But she admits her father, who passed away in 2003, was not keen on her decision to follow him into law when she broached the subject with him.

'I told my dad years ago that I was really into criminal justice and he was like, "This will stress you out so much, you do not really want to take this on,"' she recalled.

'My dad always taught me that hard work is really important and to really commit to things, so my goal would be in like, 10 years, to give up being Kim K and just focus on this and be an attorney and fight for so many deserving people.'

Gunmen abduct OAU lecturer on Ife-Ibadan Road

Unknown gunmen Sunday kidnapped a lecturer of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife along Ife/Ibadan expressway.

The lecturer, simply identified as Prof Adegbehingbe, it was gathered, was abducted near Ikire, few minutes to 9pm while traveling to Ife.

Several vehicles that were moving along the route when the incident happened, it was further learned, he had to stop because the men wielding sophisticated weapons, partially blocked the road.

 Two people were said to be in the vehicle in which the lecturer was abducted, while the other passenger was said to be his wife.


 Director of Media, Ooni of Ife Palace, Moses Olafare, said he received a call from an anonymous caller when it was discovered the kidnap victim works in Obafemi Awolowo University.

Police arrest six suspects with large quantity of poisonous ponmo in Lagos

The Police in Lagos have arrested six suspects with large quantity of poisonous cow skins popularly known as ‘Ponmo’ which were stored in a warehouse in Igando area of the state.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana. He said that on 4th May, 2019, at about 5.00am, acting on the strength of information from a credible source that a truck load of cow skins, popularly called ‘Ponmo’, suspected to be poisonous were heaped in a warehouse at No. 9 College Road, Igando, Lagos. He said that a team of police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer of Igando Division, mobilised to the scene.

The huge pillage and pyramid of poisonous ponmo and the chemicals used in the preservation of the cow skins were recovered. DSP Elkana said that one Tata truck, with registration number AKD-375-XB, which was used in conveying the goods was impounded. The officials of Lagos State Ministry of Health were then contacted and after due examination, the cow skins were confirmed to be poisonous and not fit for human consumption.+

It's impossible to say who will take on Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, but if he is defeated by a Democrat, it's likely that a dog will return to the White House after a multi-year absence.

Whether named Maple, Bailey, Champ or Skye, a dog appears to be a must-have accessory for Democratic candidates seeking to take on Trump, who stands out from his predecessors for, among other reasons, not having a pet.

From the third minute of the speech launching his campaign on 14 April, Democratic phenomenon Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of the city of South Bend in the state of Indiana, brought his two dogs to the fore.

"I grew up in South Bend, in the same neighbourhood where Chasten (his husband) and I live today, with our two dogs, Buddy and Truman," Buttigieg said.


The couple's two dogs have their own Twitter account with nearly 70,000 followers.

Buhari greets Nigerians on Ramadan

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent greetings to Nigerians in general and Muslims in particular as they commence the month-long Ramadhan fast.

The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, said the President’s greetings followed the sighting of the lunar month of Ramadhan.

Buhari called for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country.

According to the President, Islam is a religion of peace that upholds the values of tolerance and mutual coexistence without a place for hatred and violence.


He, therefore, urged Muslims to use the period to build a relationship of friendship and harmony with fellow citizens of other faiths.

The President prayed to Allah for the continued peace, progress, and the wellbeing of the country.

Ahead of the cinema release of the new movie which she stars in, ‘Heaven’s Hell’, on May 10, 2019, Nollywood actress Nse Ikpe-Etim has condemned the alleged sexual harassment of women labelled a prostitutes by police officers after a raid on an Abuja night club.

She disclosed this on Saturday during an event she hosted with her fans at the event, tagged, ‘Conversation with Nse’ which took place in Lekki, Lagos.

While relating on the incident, the actress said that: “being a prostitute is not a crime. It is a job they chose.”

PHOTOS: Many Dead As Trailer Falls Off A Bridge Along Abuja-Kaduna Highway

This is tragic. Many people have lost their lives after a trailer fell off a bridge along Abuja-Kaduna highway. The incident happened on Friday.

According to reports, the trailer driver lost control of the vehicle which was loaded with humans and animals as it veered off a bridge in Azara-Jere, Kagarko area of Kaduna state.

It was gathered that over four persons were killed on the spot along with some cattle as other injured victims were rushed to the hospital in critical conditions.

Newly Wedded Deaf Couple Get Automatic Employment

The governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has offered automatic employment into the state civil service to two couples with Disabilities, Mr Ezemba Ndubueze and Comfort Ezemba (a deaf couple) and Mr Agbanu Kelechi (a visually impaired groom).

This was confirmed by the SSA to the Governor on Disability Matters, Barr. Chuks Ezewuzie when both couple visited his office to collect their wedding gifts from the Governor.

The SSA who represented the governor at the wedding of the Ezembas and the Permanent secretary of the Ministry of women and children affairs Dr. Azuka Ofomata who represented the Governor at the wedding of the Agbabus’ both presented the Governor’s wedding Gifts to the newly wedded couple who exchanged their marital vows on 27th April, 2019.

The SSA explained that the jobs being offered to them is part of the automatic employment scheme the Governor announced for person’s with Disabilities in the State.

In their votes of thanks, the couples expressed their appreciation to the Governor for honouring their wedding invitation and thanked him for his magnanimity towards persons with Disabilities.
