Jose Mourinho has explained how his tactics kept Lionel Messi in "jail" during Inter's win over Barcelona in the 2009-10 Champions League semi-final.
Pep Guardiola's side were at the height of their powers going into the semi-final, but Inter famously defeated Barcelona despite conceding most of the possession to their opponents.
Inter won the first leg 3-1 at San Siro, before holding on for a 1-0 defeat at Camp Nou in the second leg to advance via a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.
Mourinho's side would go on to win the Champions League by defeating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the final in Madrid.
But Inter's bigger feat was advancing past Barcelona and Lionel Messi, who had scored four goals in Barcelona's quarter-final second leg win over Arsenal that season.
Mourinho explained that stopping Messi, who was playing on the right wing, had to be a group effort involving defensive midfielders Thiago Motta and Esteban Cambiasso, as well as left-back Javier Zanetti.
"The situation for us was very clear, which was [Messi] cannot play alone when he comes in between the lines," Mourinho explained in a video posted to The Coaches' Voice YouTube page.
"So this player here [Cambiasso] must be a player totally in control of this area, always in communication with the left-back.
"There is a moment where he becomes yours and I stay in the zone but if in a certain moment you are attracted by other positions and Messi goes in these positions in between the lines, you have to decide to go.

A Maryland nanny convicted of forcefully feeding a baby girl two bottles and killing her is set to spend the next 15 years in prison.
Oluremi Adeleye, 73, was a live-in nanny at a couple's home in Prince George's County when one 8-month-old Enita Salubi died on Oct. 26, 2016.
Adeleye was asleep on a couch inside the house when the baby, who was in a walker, began crying and woke the nanny, police said.
Police said a video surveillance camera shows the nanny tried to feed the baby, but without success. Adeleye then pulled the baby from her walker, removed the nipple from her bottle and forcefully fed her, police said.
Adeleye poured "eight ounces of milk down the child's throat in less than 30 seconds, essentially drowning her," the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office said in a release.
On Friday, Adeleye was sentenced to 40 years in prison with all but 15 years suspended.
The baby appeared to squirm and resist while being fed the first bottle, and then Adeleye forced the contents of a second bottle into her mouth, documents said.
After the baby became unresponsive, Adeleye called the baby's father, who dialed 911 as he raced home.
Enita Salubi was rushed to a hospital, where she died.
Clifton Wanzer, a neighbor, said he saw the little girl's father carry her to an ambulance.
She was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Adeleye was found guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse and second-degree child abuse in February.

Piers Morgan experienced the feeling of labour pains through a simulation machine on Good Morning Britain today.
The presenter, 54. who has previously admitted that he suffered during the birth of his daughter, was put to the test as he was attached to a TENS machine.
'It's a tough old ordeal for men, too,' he told co-star Susanna Reid, before undergoing the experiment. 'It's the constant ferrying of coffee, papers, magazine, and making all the calls.'
'I became perilously close to missing a big Arsenal European game. I had to negotiate it and ended up watching it in the delivery room.'
The segment of the show asked whether men suffer in silence during their partner's labour and whether they can stand the real pain of childbirth.
But as the electrical impulses started, it wasn't long before the father-of-four was gritting his teeth, screaming, and begging for the 'agony' to stop.
Stefan, a scientist from the Netherlands, had attached four sticky pads to Piers' stomach which were hooked up to the machine.
'You send electrical impulses to those patches,' explained Susanna. 'Around the 50-60 mark is similar to the beginning of childbirth, or the first contractions.'
And viewers were left in hysterics when the presenter yelped out and asked 'woah what number is that?' - before being told it was 'zero.'
Starting at twenty, he let out a yelp and admitted 'that's already uncomfortable,' before being reminded by Susanna: 'Remember, you have to stay at home during this period of time, you're not even allowed to go into hospital.'
With the pain getting too much, Piers decided to stand up but as the strength of the impulses were notched up to forty, he screamed, before joking: 'I've got to dig deep and man up!'
And by the time the gadget had increased to sixty to replicate the beginning of childbirth, Piers couldn't take any more and shouted: 'that's enough.'
Kate Garraway, who watched the experiment from the back of the set came running on and explained to Piers how '65 is the early level of contractions before a woman is given gas and air'.
'Would you like to apologise?' Susanna asked.
'On balance, the women of Great Britain, I probably owe you a slight apology,' he admitted. 'I'm very glad we don't have to go through this.'
'I've got to say that was agony. If that's what you honestly go through, my respect for women, in terms of childbirth, has gone through the roof.'
He added: 'That was painful. I'm never again going to make any comment about childbirth. That was absolute torture.'
'If every man did that for five minutes, we'd never joke about childbirth ever again. it was absolute agony. That's put things into proper perspective.'
A man chopped off his own p-nis and testicles because he wanted to become a genitalia-free ‘nullo.’
Trent Gates, 23, severed his testicles in April 2016, then removed his manhood with an ultra-sharp ceramic knife in January 2017 after seeing a photo of another famous nullo called Gelding at the age of 15.
Trent, from Washington DC, only used iced water for the first procedure, but performed the second removal after after taking regular painkillers to counter the pain.
Recalling what made him decide to remove his genitalia in his first ever interview, Trent told Metro US: ‘It really didn’t feel like part of me. It’s along the lines of being trans, but not quite. ‘I have no desire to be a woman. It’s kind of a middle ground in-between the two, an androgynous in-between.
‘I came across some pictures when I was in high school, online, and I’ve been that way since, back since I was probably, 15. ‘I saw a photo online – it was like, bam, first photo I saw, thats me, I want to be there some day. ‘I think it was a photo of (famous nullo) Gelding.
He’s kind of like the grandfather of the community.’ Trent describes himself as a non-binary person who is sexually attracted to men. But he does not like the pronoun ‘they’ and says he feels more male than female.
He says that nullos are different to eunuchs – men who were historically castrated to guard female living areas of royal courts – because they have their penises removed too.
The IT worker sliced his testicles off at his apartment, and later removed his p-nis in a North Carolina hotel room after meeting a local ‘spotter’ online who agreed to call an ambulance if he suffered a medical emergency. He used a knife sanitized with alcohol, then traveled to hospital immediately after on both occasions, where a surgeon stitched him up and gave him painkillers.
He talked to a mental health team about his decision to remove his genitals. Trent also took photos of the process, which are too graphic to reproduce.
The IT worker recalled: ‘I used a ceramic (knife) because its sharper than the steel, less ripping and tearing. ‘I sanitized it all beforehand with alcohol. I took every precaution. I had no infection. I went to the hospital right after.
Trent says the wound where he removed his testicles took a month to heal, while the area where his penis once sat recovered in around to to three weeks. He inserted a catheter for several weeks after removing his p-nis to ensure there was a hole through which he could urinate. Trent says he enjoys sex even more now he has no penis or testicles, explaining: ‘I’ve actually found that my orgasms have gotten a hell of a lot more intense.
‘The first time that I had s-x afterwards, I almost passed out and was shaking for hours afterwards.
Trent says his boyfriend fully accepts his modified genitalia. He did not tell his parents about removing his privates until after he had done so, and he has not told his three younger brothers about the makeshift surgeries.
He said: ‘My parents were a little bit shocked but accepting. (My) grandparents more (were) shocked than immediately accepting, but they are accepting, and great grandparents were immediately accepting, surprisingly.’

The Katsina State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) yesterday announced the arrest of three suspected Libya-bound human traffickers at Kongolan and Farin Gida patrol base, on Daura Road, Katsina.
The Controller, Mr. Ajisafe Joshua Olusola, briefing reporters on the arrest, the second within five days, said the mission of the traffickers and their victims was to cross the border to Niger Republic from where they would move to Libya.
He listed the suspects to include Emeka Gideon Okaeri, 39, from Imo State, Obinna Emmanuel, 30, from Abia State and Obumese Murphy Obi, 40, from Imo State.
The rescued victims are Emmanuel Eziuche Justina, 31, from Abia State, Ugochukwu Anthony Chilaka, 28, from Imo State, Okike Chigekwu Daniel from Imo State, Daniel Glory Chinonso, 24, from Abia State and Francis Hillary, 29, from Delta State.
The controller said the leader of the trafficking cartel, Emeka Okaeri, has been living in Libya for the past nine years, adding that he is a frequent traveller crisscrossing Niger, Libya and Nigeria.
He said: “Emeka represents a trafficking cartel based in Libya and Nigeria and who specialises in trafficking and smuggling.
“The suspected human traffickers, smugglers and rescued persons are Nigerians and are in possession of their travelling documents
“According to Emeka, the two women, Justina and Chinonso, were connected to him by one man, who is living in Libya. The man in Libya is the one sponsoring the victims’ journey, while Emeka is the one facilitating the journey.’’
Ajisafe said the suspected traffickers and their victims would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) zonal office in Kano.
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja yesterday ordered that a cleric, Pastor Dennis Ogbede, be remanded in prison custody.
Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi gave the order shortly after Ogbede was arraigned on a three-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Osho-Adebiyi ordered that Ogbede be kept in prison until he meets the conditions attached to the bail granted him.
Ogbede, the director of Alidenco Systems Nigeria Ltd, was arraigned for allegedly defrauding Maje Umar Nafiu of Maje Investment and Construction Company Ltd to the tune of N35million in land acquisition in 2009.
The EFCC also accused the defendant of presenting to Nafiu, fake land titles for Wumba area of the FCT.
The commission alleged that Ogbede agreed to refund N25million through three post-dated Zenith Bank Plc cheques, which all failed to clear upon presentation at the bank in December, 2015.
The offences violate Section 1(1) of Dud Cheque Offences Act and punishable under section (i) (i) of the same Act.
Ogbede pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
After Ogbede’s arraignment, prosecution lawyer, Samuel Ugwuegbulem, sought a date for the commencement of trial.
Defence lawyer Isaac Imo applied for bail for the defendant.
Imo said the defendant is a religious leader and also has a pending civil suit in court, challenging the refund of the N35million.
Ugwuegbulem said he would not oppose the bail application, because it was the discretion of the court to grant bail.
Ruling, Justice Osho-Adebiyi granted bail to the defendant at N2million and two sureties in the like sum.
The judge said the sureties must be civil servants, one which must be of the rank not less than Grade Level 14, with landed properties in the FCT.
