Shocking footage reveals a spider spinning its web inside a man's ear

If you’re not a fan of spiders , you might want to look away now. Shocking footage has revealed a spider spinning its web inside a man’s ear canal.

The unnamed man from eastern China went to the doctor after experiencing a ‘crawling sensation’ in his right ear.

The doctor, Dr Zhang Pan from the Hospital of Yangzhou University, used an endoscope to investigate the cause of the crawling sensation - and was shocked by what he discovered.

Deep within the man’s ear, the camera revealed a small spider, that had spun an intricate web spanning across the entire ear canal.

To catch the critter, the doctors initially tried to use a slim pair of tweezers.

However, the spider escaped the grips, forcing the doctors to flush it out using a saline solution.

Thankfully, the spider was caught before it could cause any permanent damage, and the man escaped unscathed.

Court strikes out suit seeking order for EFCC to investigate Oshiomhole

The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a lawsuit seeking for an order of court for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to investigate the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

Justice Anwili Chikere struck out the lawsuit on Monday, while ruling on the preliminary objection filed by Oshiomhole.

The plaintiff, an Edo State based cleric, had dragged the EFCC and Oshiomhole to court, asking it to order the Commission to investigate different petitions that contained allegations of financial recklessness against Oshiomhole.

But in his preliminary objection, Oshiomhole had asked the court to dismiss the suit, noting that the plaintiff lacked the locus standi (legal right) to institute the action.

While the judge agreed with the counsel to the plaintiff, Mrs Uju Chukwura, that Section 6 of the EFCC Act mandates the Commission to investigate and prosecute any allegation of financial anomalies, she, however, noted that in Oshiomole’s case, the suit is statute barred.

According to her, the plantiff failed to seek judicial review within the stipulated three months window and only approached the court 18 months later.

Caramelo Nightclub Demolished In Abuja

Caramelo Nightclub situated in Abuja has been demolished by the Federal Capital Territory administration. The authorities were said to have given a notice before the demolition took place.

But the Managing Director of the club, Maxwell Eze, lamented that the notice was given on Friday with a 21-day notice which was reduced to 48hrs.

He also noted that they were not given enough time to remove any valuables before the demolition.

According to him, 500million naira worth of equipment had been lost in the demolition which he says has rendered a direct staff strength of 105 unemployed.

Caramelo was one of the places of leisure raided by the FCT administration recently

South Sudan to bar couples who can't produce their marriage certificates from entering hotels

Following concerns of declining morals in South Sudan, the government has targeted the leisure, nightlife and entertainment sectors of the country to check the morality of citizens.

The governor of South Sudan’s Jubek State, Augustino Jadalla Wani, announced plans to introduce a law that will require a marriage certificate from couples before they are allowed access to hotel rooms no matter their length of stay.

According to reports, Governor Wani went on to say that the bill has already been tabled awaiting to be passed as a law to prevent immoral activities in the country.

The announcement by the governor came minutes after he banned night clubs and restricted opening hours for bars in the country’s capital city of Juba to between 5 pm to 10 pm in the evening. The move, he explains, was to prevent teens especially girls as young as 13 from patronizing such places.

Speaking to the press, the governor stated: “We banned discos totally because what is happening there is really very dangerous for the future of this country. We are serious and we are going to make sure discos are not working in this country until we make sure that there is stability and the young ones cannot go there.”

Man has 100 nails removed from stomach after keeping habit secret from family

A man luckily survived after doctors removed more than 100 iron nails from his stomach. Bhola Shankar, 43, from Bundi, India's north-west Rajasthan state, was deemed psychologically unwell when doctors noticed his habit of eating iron nails.

Doctors found the bizarre contents in the man's stomach after carrying out an x-ray.

Footage of the operation shows surgeons removing the nails from the patient's intestines.

Doctors at the Bundi government hospital said they have recovered at least 116 nails, measuring six and a half centimetres (2.55-in) long each.

However, it's not sure how long he had swallowed the nails for.

Dr Anil Saini, who led the operation, said it was the first instance in Rajasthan and the size of the nail may make it the first such case in India.

Dr Saini believed that the patient has a habit of swallowing sharp metal objects like nails and wires and added that he was lucky to live as none of the nails punctured his stomach.

Bhola's family said they were not aware about his daily activities, therefore did not know much about his rather unusual diet.

He is now recovering well in the hospital.

Women who wear skinny jeans at twice the risk of painful vaginal condition

They’re a staple feature of many women’s wardrobes, but a new study might put you off reaching for the skinny jeans.

Researchers from Boston University School of Public Health have revealed that women who wear tight-fitting trousers are at twice the risk of developing vulvodynia .

According to the NHS website , vulvodynia is ‘persistent, unexplained pain in the vulva (the skin surrounding the entrance to the vagina).’

Symptoms of the condition including a burning, stinging or sore sensation, with pain often spreading to the buttocks or inner thighs.

In the study, the researchers analysed self-reported data from 213 women with confirmed cases of vulvodynia, as well as data from 221 women without the condition.

The analysis revealed that women who wore tight-fitting trousers four or more times a week had twice the odds of vulvodynia.

Meanwhile, women who reported removing their pubic hair from their mons pubis (the soft mound of skin above the genitals) were 74% more likely to experience the condition.

Dr Bernard Harlow, senior author of the study, said: “With an increase in the prevalence of pubic hair removal directly from the vulvar region, particularly in adolescent girls, the microabrasions to this sensitive area may predispose young women to immune-inflammatory complications.

“Likewise, tight-fitting jeans or pants can create an environment that fosters genital tract infections, which have been shown to be associated with vulvar pain onset.”

U.S. Embassy suspends ‘dropbox’ visa renewals in Nigeria indefinitely

The United States has suspended interview waivers for renewals, otherwise known as the “Dropbox” process, in Nigeria indefinitely.

The U.S. Mission to Nigeria disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

It explained that the suspension would take effect immediately at the close of business today, stressing that it would no longer accept visa applications by DHL in Nigeria.

The mission, however, gave assurance that those who have already submitted their passports to DHL for processing via “Dropbox” at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos would not be affected by the development.

It added that the processing of diplomatic and official (A, G, and NATO class) visa applications was not also affected.

The new procedure, according to the mission, is that non-immigrant visa applicants in Nigeria must apply online and appear in-person at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or U.S. Consulate General in Lagos to submit their application for review.

Remember lady set to wed in August that was beaten to a pulp by her fiancé? She has called off the wedding

Imagine preparing for your wedding, making expenses, informing family and friends of what could possibly be the happiest day of your life, only to cancel it three months before the D-Day?

That was what 29-year-old Omolara Busari did but she is not regretful. According to her, calling the wedding off saved her from a lifetime of misery or, in worse case scenario, death.

Omolara said she called off the wedding after receiving the beating of her life from her fiancé, Adelekan Adelufosi.

Omolara, who hails from Iseyin, Oyo State, told The Punch that she endured her relationship with 32-year-old Adelufosi for four years.

They had planned to finally get married in August 2019, but their wedding has now been cancelled after Adelufosi beat his fiancée to a pulp last Thursday at Iwere-Ile, Iwajowa, Oyo State.

Omolara, who spoke to a Punch correspondent on the telephone, said she had only challenged Adelufosi for asking her not to ever relate with a woman who lives in their area.

By the time she knew what was happening, she had been admitted to hospital.

She said, “There is a woman who lives in my area, close to my apartment. We were just discussing and greeting each other when he (Adelufosi) showed up.

“Later, he went to the woman’s shop and warned her not to ever see her around me again. When we entered my apartment that night, I asked him, ‘Why did you do that?’

“That was the last thing I remembered saying. By the time I opened my eyes, I found myself in a hospital.”

From last Thursday night, Omolara had been receiving treatment and was discharged on Monday.

But that was not the first time Omolara would get physically assaulted by a man who claimed to love her and make his wife someday.

“That was the fifth time he would beat me,” Omolara said.

Asked why she held on to the man despite his abusive nature for so long, Omolara said it was because she had a daughter for him.

She said, “Actually, I wanted to marry him because I have a daughter, who is two years old, for him. This is what kept me glued to the relationship. But this time around, I don’t care. Our relationship has ended and I have cancelled our wedding.

“Right from the beginning, my parents and siblings didn’t approve of our relationship, but I thought maybe after our wedding, he would change.

“We were already planning our wedding for August 2019, but like I said, it cannot hold again.”

Omolara lamented she did not heed her parents’ and siblings’ warning before. However, she was thankful it was not too late for her.

“Now, they (my parents and siblings) are relieved and I have finally learnt my lesson. I am so happy that our relationship has ended,” she said.

Woman excitedly confirms engagement - but people are horrified to see her ring

Engagement rings are very special to every couple - a promise of an exciting future and a romantic commitment.

And while every ring is different, all that matters is that the person popping the question manages to pick one their partner likes - right?

Well... People were disgusted when they saw the ring one boyfriend used to ask his girlfriend to be his bride - because it was made from his own hair.

The excited woman shared a snap of her hand wearing the 'ring', showing hundreds of strands of hair looped around her finger.

She wrote: "My boyfie is now my fiancé!

"He proposed with a ring made from a lock of his OWN HAIR.

"This is a placeholder, until my more intricately woven band is done."

A screenshot of her message was posted on the Facebook group That's It, I'm Ring Shaming, and has unsurprisingly attracted a lot of comments, reports the Sun .

One wrote: "No matter how much I love the dude I don't think I'd ever in a million years wear his hair on my finger."

Another commented: "Did she pull his hair from the drain and just wrap it around her finger? Does he even know they are engaged?"

Others questioned which part of his body the hair had come from.

Referee dies after suffering heart attack on pitch

A Futsal referee died after he suffered a fatal heart attack on the pitch. Isildo Fabiano Bianchi da Silva, 44, collapsed during a match between Sao Carlos and Taubate in Sao Carlos, Brazil.

The referee bent over with his hands on his knees before he crashed to the ground. Players from both teams rushed to his side and some even took off their tops and tried to fan him with them.

Medical staff then put him onto a stretcher and carried him off the pitch as the fans applauded him.

Reports claim he was rushed to the emergency unit in Vila Prado in an ambulance.

Official sources said: "All the CPR procedures were carried out but Idildo could not be revived and died."

The futsal match, which was locked at 0-0 at the time of the incident, was abandoned.

A date has not been set for the rematch between Sao Carlos and Taubate.

We want the world to see June 12 as Nigeria’s most important day – Garba Shehu

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has made clarifications on the comments made by the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, about the President’s inauguration on May 29, being a low-key ceremony.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Mr Shehu explained that while May 29th remains significant as the inauguration day, all ceremonies associated with the inauguration have been deferred to June 12.

“We want the world to see June 12 as this country’s most important (day) as far as democracy is concerned,” he said.

He further explained that the May 29 inauguration will still be marked because according to the Constitution, the four-year term officially ends on the 29th.

“Let me say emphatically, it is important that the President and the governors are being inaugurated on the 29th.

“Constitutionally, that must take place because their four-year term (2015-2019), expires on the 29th.

“However, the President will be swearing an oath, taking the oath of office as would the governors be doing, but the big ceremonies associated with the inauguration have been deferred to June 12, in order that we empower, we activate this day in a big way”.

On the venue of the event, he noted that it would take place at the Eagles Square, Abuja and the missions in the country, embassies, and other key figures will be duly represented.

“Delegations will come but we are welcoming them on June 12,” Shehu added.

Tribunal adjourns hearing suits challenging Buhari’s victory

The chairman of the Tribunal and President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, has adjourned hearing all applications emanating from the Hope Democratic Party’s petition and others challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23 presidential election.

Hope Democratic Party (HDP) had earlier filed a motion seeking an order of the presidential election tribunal restraining President Muhammadu Buhari from presenting himself to be sworn-in on May 29th, 2019.

The party is also seeking an order restraining the Chief Justice of Nigeria from swearing-in, administering the oath of office and oath of allegiance to the president on May 29th, 2019.

The Hope Democratic Party claimed that inspite of the pendency of the legal action against President Buhari, he has been making frantic efforts and preparation for his inauguration on May 29, 2019, by the CJN.

The Hope Democratic Party also said the petition has been served on President Buhari and pleadings have been exchanged.

Although, the petitioner said it has announced the application, the respondent including counsels to President Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said they have not been served with the motion.

In response, counsel to INEC asked the tribunal to award a cost of N1million against the petitioner – Hope Democratic Party.

On his part counsel to President Buhari, Mr Wole Olanipekun did not ask for cost but however said he needs time to go through the application.

He also told the tribunal that he has an application on behalf of the president seeking to dismiss the petition of the Hope Democratic Party.

Counsel to President Buhari, Mr Wole Olanipekun notified the tribunal of an application he filed seeking the dismissal of the petition of the Hope Democratic Party.

Counsel to the Hope Democratic Party, Mr Oliver Enya in his reply told the tribunal that he will be objecting to the application because it touches on facts that are in the substantive suit.

The tribunal, therefore, said it will longer hear the application to stop the President’s inauguration because parties have not been served.

The tribunal then adjourned hearing to May 22.

Other petitions challenging Buhari’s victory are filed by other political parties. They include the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
