King Mswati denies ordering men to marry more wives

The leader of the Kingdom of Eswatini King Mswati III has denied reports that went viral yesterday on the internet alleging he ordered the men of Eswatini to marry more than one wife or face jail term.

In a statement issued by the Government’s Spokesperson, Percy Simelane, it reads, "The current dispatch titled marry more wives or face jail quoting the King are not only an insult to the monarchy but a disgrace to journalism.

"His majesty has not made any pronouncement to that effect and it has  never been an issue raised by Emaswatini."

Again, Tinubu commends Buhari on June 12 Democracy Day

Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a leader of the All Progressives Congress National Leader, has again commended President Muhammadu Buhari for taking steps toward fully recognising June 12 as Democracy Day.

Tinubu gave the commendation in a statement released by his Media Adviser, Mr Tunde Rahman, in Lagos. He also urged the National Assembly to cooperate with the presidency to complete the constitutional process of making June 12 Democracy Day.

“To complete this process, that the president has started via Executive Order, we hope that the National Assembly act with reasonable dispatch in cooperation with the presidency to assure that the requisite constitutional amendments are enacted to fully establish June 12 as Democracy Day,” Tinubu said.

He also said President Buhari and the Federal Government deserved to be appreciated for the wise and visionary decision.

“By this wise yet visionary decision, the president has scored double: first he has accorded respect to the Constitution, which recognises May 29 as the date to inaugurate new terms of office.

“While at the same time, he is ensuring the country moves on the rightful path to formalising June 12 as new Democracy Day.

“This decision soundly balances current legal requirements with the quest for political justice.

“For this feat in moving the country in the right direction, President Buhari and the Federal Government deserve commendation, “he said.

The Federal Government had announced that President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration for a second term on May 29 will be low-key and that a number of events slated for the inauguration will be held on June 12.

Tinubu said that June 12 represented an important milestone in the annals of the country’s democratic journey.

According to him, it was the day Nigerians shunned ethnicity and religion to vote for that leader of their choice in an election adjudged clearly free and fair.

R. Kelly's daughter 'forced to drop out college' because he stopped paying her tuition

The controversial singer allegedly stopped paying his daughter's tuition and living costs after "cutting her off without warning" last year, forcing her to leave.

R. Kelly's daughter, Joann Lee, has been forced to leave college after her father failed to pay her tuition and living fees, TMZ report.

Joann, who also goes by the name Buku Abi, was reportedly attending an art school in California until the end of last year, but was "cut off without warning" by her father after he failed to foot the bill.

According to his child support agreement with ex-wife Andrea, Kelly was expected to pay for Joann's tuition and education expenses until she turns 23.

However, Lee reportedly had to move out of the apartment she was living in and had to pay for her own school books because he stopped paying for both.

In response to his daughter's claims, Kelly's Crisis Manager, Darrell Johnson, says that the singer must receive billing statements and proof of expenses in order to pay for Joann's education. He claims Kelly never received them.

Additionally, Kelly is said to have believed that Joann had chosen to drop out of school herself, and so he stopped getting bills. He claims he received no proof that she'd dropped out of school either.

Joann reportedly wants to go back to college and will be "seeking financial support" from her father. However, their relationship is strained, to say the least.R. Kelly's daughter 'forced to drop out college' because he stopped paying her tuition

We have no plans to overthrow Buhari- Military

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Tuesday dissociated the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) from the circulation of document, calling for the overthrow of the democratically elected government led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement issued by Navy Capt. Muhammed Wabi, Deputy Director of Defence Information, the DHQ accused a group, “Nigerian Continuity and Progress (NCP)’’ as being behind the document.

Wabi alleged that the document called for the setting up of an “interim government’’ in place of the elected government.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) wishes to dissociate itself from the rascality and intentions as espoused in a document being circulated by a faceless group named Nigerian Continuity and Progress (NCP) calling for support of a revolution to oust the current democratically elected government and in its place establish an illegitimate interim government.

“The AFN outrightly condemns the undemocratic and demonic actions of the author of the document.

“Accordingly, members of the public are enjoined to discountenance the content of the documents being circulated by NCP and equally condemned in totality, the call to derail our hard earned democracy,’’ the statement said.

It said that the armed forces was “very mindful of its constitutional responsibilities’’ and would not be misled into any act that would undermine democracy as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as amended.

“The AFN remains unflinchingly loyal to the Constitution, as well as President Muhammadu Buhari and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The statement said all relevant law enforcement agencies had been advised to unravel those behind the seditious document for appropriate actions.

Jeremy Meeks arrives at Cannes with mystery woman after Chloe Green ditches ‘engagement ring’

Jeremy Meeks has been spotted hanging out in Cannes with a mystery woman ahead of this year’s film festival. The 35-year-old, who rose to fame via his mugshot led to him being dubbed ‘hot felon’, appeared to be in high spirits as he lapped up the sun in the city.

His partner Chloe Green was nowhere to be seen as he was joined by an unnamed girl who was dressed head-to-toe in pink. Jeremy opted for a more casual look, matching his black jeans with a white T-shirt. And it seems they were enjoying the sunny weather together as they wandered through the streets. The model’s sighting comes after he replied to photographers earlier this year who asked in if he was still will his girlfriend Chloe.

He confirmed his relationship was still on, as he told the snappers: ‘Of course we’re still together.’ The pair began dating in 2017 and share 11-month-old son Jayden together. However, they seemingly raised a few eyebrows after the Topshop heiress was seen on a shoot in London last month without her engagement ring.

Family holds wedding for disabled groom who couldn't find a wife

Sadly for us, dreams aren’t always realised no matter how much we want them. When Ajay Barot, a 27-year-old Indian man, couldn’t find a suitable partner, he feared he’d never be able to get married – something he always dreamt of doing.

The Gujrat native, who has learning disabilities, worried it was never going to happen – so his family decided to show him otherwise.

With much fanfare, they gave Ajay his dream wedding day – filled with colours, hundreds of guests, music, the lot. The only difference was, the wedding didn’t have a bride. But no matter for the Barot family, they had all the traditional trimmings of an Indian wedding – with 200 guests in attendance and even a haldi (pre-wedding) ceremony.

Ajay’s uncle, Kamlesh, explained to The Times of India that it was his own son’s wedding that further sparked his interest in getting married. ‘Ajay had always wanted such an occasion for himself and that wedding intensified his demand,’ said the uncle.

‘The family got together and decided he would have a wedding procession. We had wedding invitations printed, performed all the rituals by getting a priest and organised the feast. Ajay was beaming throughout.’ Ajay’s parents found out that he had learning difficulties when he was a child, shortly after which his mum died. Though they tried, the family said it was difficult to find him a match.

They added that it was a respectful ceremony, not intended to be mocking. ‘The event was not just to keep Ajay happy. it was also about the family finding solace in the fact he could experience it,’ added dad Vishnu.

‘There was no intention of mocking weddings or his sentiments. ‘We were heartened that so many of our relatives and villagers became part of the event.’ People online loved the idea. One person wrote: ‘Almost brought tears to my eyes. Believe me, it was a lifetime of happiness for Ajay. And kudos to his parents to make it special for him.’ What a sweet gesture. It certainly gives some of us singletons an idea.

Senate threatens to shutdown Bet9ja

The Senate Committee on Youth and Sports on Tuesday threatened to order the shutdown of Bet9ja office if the company failed to honour its invitation for a second time.

The Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Obinna Ogba, made the remark at the National Assembly, Abuja during the verification of loto companies with license to operate in Nigeria.
Ogba (PDP Ebonyi Central) said it was unfortunate that Bet9ja refused to honour the committee’s invitation.

“Clerk, write to Bet9ja again. If they did not honour our invitation, we will ask the National Lottery Commission to seal their offices,” he said.

According to him, the Senate is making efforts aimed at assisting the Lottery Commission to generate money for the Federal Government.

”We want to see bet9ja. They can’t run away,” he said.

The chairman explained that the verification followed series of complaints against the betting companies, adding that ”some don’t even have offices while others have not been making remittances to the government.”

”Some got the licences but they are not operating. The new regulation only give them one year to start operations,” he noted.

Meanwhile, about 20 other betting companies appeared before the committee for the verification exercise.

Shocking footage reveals a spider spinning its web inside a man's ear

If you’re not a fan of spiders , you might want to look away now. Shocking footage has revealed a spider spinning its web inside a man’s ear canal.

The unnamed man from eastern China went to the doctor after experiencing a ‘crawling sensation’ in his right ear.

The doctor, Dr Zhang Pan from the Hospital of Yangzhou University, used an endoscope to investigate the cause of the crawling sensation - and was shocked by what he discovered.

Deep within the man’s ear, the camera revealed a small spider, that had spun an intricate web spanning across the entire ear canal.

To catch the critter, the doctors initially tried to use a slim pair of tweezers.

However, the spider escaped the grips, forcing the doctors to flush it out using a saline solution.

Thankfully, the spider was caught before it could cause any permanent damage, and the man escaped unscathed.
