Buhari to Osinbajo: If you break down and complain, government will not be popular

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, received Vice President Yemi Osinbajo alongside service chiefs and a Federal Capital Territory delegation, who paid him the traditional Sallah homage.

Muslims worldwide are celebrating Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and prayer.

Buhari, while receiving the guests, said he was pleased with the activities of the vice president and urged him not to relent despite the challenges.


“I want to appreciate the number two man of the country (Osinbajo) because he knows what we are going through very quietly (sic).  I’m very pleased that you came with this very powerful constituency.

“I appeal to you to remain exemplary so that those under you will know that the country is doing very well.

“If you break down and complain, the impact will reverberate all over and then government will not be popular and whatever efforts we are making will not be appreciated,’’ he said.

Buhari, on a lighter note, told Senator Philip Aduda, who was part of the FCT delegation, that his constituency did not vote for him (Buhari) in the last presidential election.

He said, however, that FCT was a strategic part of Nigeria and that securing it would be taken seriously by his administration.

On his part, Osinbajo congratulated the president on the solemn occasion that marked the end of the Ramadan.

According to  Osinbajo, God has been extremely good to the president and to the government.

“I believe that our country is at a threshold of the breakthrough that we have been praying for and hoping for all these many years. And this is why many challenges are going on.”

Judge turns down El Chapo’s request of seeing sunshine in prison as they fear it’s a bid for him to escape

El Chapo wants to feel the sunshine during the day and some peace and quiet at night, but a judge is shooting him down at every turn because it's just too damn dangerous.

The former Mexican cartel kingpin recently filed a motion requesting at least 2 hours of outdoors recreation time per week while he's held in custody at a federal prison in New York, plus access to the general pop commissary so he can buy goodies.

Chapo was also looking to get access to some earplugs so he could sleep easy at night and get rid of ear pain he says he's been experiencing in the joint.

Well, a judge didn't bite on any of it, and his reasoning is pretty damning.


First, the court says Chapo's request for outdoors time is a nonstarter (he's currently being held under strict restrictions) because the U.S. government is worried he'll try to escape again.

The judge cites his previous two escapes, and says there's no way in hell they're letting him catch some sunshine under their watch.

Moreover, the judge points to the fact that Chapo has been very well-behaved while in custody ... but says that's not a reason to give him rec time. If anything, the judge says the restrictions have only helped encourage good behavior.

Lastly, the judge says Chapo ain't getting his hands on anything from the commissary 'cause the items can be easily weaponized. He won't get any earplugs either due to a safety concern -- namely, not hearing guards during an emergency, directly or indirectly.

So well, he stays where he is.

Fergie wants her old name back after divorce from husband

Fergie wants to go back to the way things used to be and be called Stacy Ann Ferguson.

According to legal documents, Fergie is asking the judge to restore her former name. She made the request in divorce documents where she also asks that the judge terminate the court's ability to award support for both her and Josh Duhamel.

Fergie filed for divorce on Friday after they have been apart publicly since September 2017 when they announced they were breaking up.

The couple have listed the date of their separation as April 1, 2017.

Stop blackmailing me, Okorocha tells Ihedioha

The immediate past governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has told his successor, Emeka Ihedioha, to stop blackmailing him.

Okorocha rather advised Ihedioha to face governance and improve the lot of the state.

A statement issued in Owerri, the state capital on Monday by Okorocha’s media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, said that the governor had been investing in blackmails against him.

Okorocha said that the only way Ihedioha would “dwarf” him was by achieving more than he (Okorocha) achieved as a governor of the state.


Okorocha who challenged Ihedioha for a road show in the state capital said that the governor had made up his mind to blackmail him even before he was sworn in on May 29.

Trump to hold talks with Theresa May amid protests

Donald Trump is to meet Prime Minister Theresa May for "substantial" talks on the second day of the US president's three-day state visit to the UK.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt will be among the senior ministers present at the talks, where issues such as climate change will be discussed.

It comes as large-scale protests are planned in several UK cities, including a demonstration in Trafalgar Square.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is due to address protesters at the London rally.

He called the Queen a 'great, great woman' recalling her service on the Home Front during the war, and said 'the bond between our nations was forever sealed in that great crusade'.

Raising his glass the 45th President of the United States said: 'On behalf of all Americans, I offer a toast to the eternal friendship of our people, the vitality of our nations and to the long cherished and truly remarkable reign of Her Majesty, the Queen.'

Guy is shocked to discover his new girlfriend’s mom was the woman he slept with months ago

There are a lot of things that can wrong when you meet your partner's parents for the first time.

You can say the wrong thing and offend them, or they can simply decide you're not good enough for their perfect son or daughter.

But one man had quite possibly the worse experience we've ever heard when he went to his girlfriend's home to meet her mum and dad for the first time.

Sharing the horrifying story on Reddit, the man explained that he met a woman in a rock bar with live music and they hit it off.


They spent time chatting and exchanged numbers, but after a few texts things went quiet.

But they ran into each other again the week later and started talking again. One thing led to another and he ended up going back with her house and spending the night.

He writes: "I noticed she was a lot older (maybe around 40) than anyone else I've slept with before.

"I'm 21, so pretty much double my age - but she looked good so I figured I'd learn a thing or two.

"All I've learnt now is how to regret more efficiently."

A few months later the man, who didn't share his name, matched with a 19-year-old on Tinder and they immediately hit it off.

They started dating and things were going well, so she invited him back to her house.

He said: "As I walk down the street, I notice it's the same one as my previous bonk.

"My heart sank when I watched this lovely girl turn to face me, say 'This is me!' while gesturing to the same door that I went through for a cheap one night stand.

"I suddenly see the resemblance. Quickly I compliment her house and ask her how long she had lived there, grasping at some flimsy straws.

"'My whole life pretty much. Just my Parents, lil' Sister and the Dog' she replies."

Understandably he was completely horrified and he knew he had to tell her.

He goes on: "Everyone was home. I knew this. I had to tell her.

"She was shocked. Very shocked when she realised that I wasn't joking when I got her Mum's name right.

"I knew she was level-headed from our first few dates so thankfully she actually understood and didn't attack me for it. We do agree we can't keep seeing each other (duh) but I really did like her, which can be rare for me, so it f****** sucks.

"She didn't mention her parents marriage and I don't want to ask. I also don't know how the house was free a couple of months ago. All I know is I f***** up."

Eke Ponzi scheme operator to remain in jail over N320m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned Mr. Uno Michael Eke before Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal High Court, Calabar, Cross River State, on a new 74-count charge, for defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians of N320 million.

Eke is the registered trustee of Micheno Multi-purpose Cooperative Society based in Cross River.

Eke, allegedly defrauded his victims through a Ponzi scheme by luring them with a 80 percent interest in 40 days, if they invest in his Swissgolden packages, operated by Micheno Multi-purpose Cooperative Society.

With this bait, Eke duped so many people through the scheme, and when his investors started calling for their capital and expected interest, he made himself incommunicado.


One of the 74-count charge against him reads: “That you, Uno Michael Eke (being the president/chief executive officer of Micheno Multi-purpose Cooperative Society) and registered trustees of Micheno Multi-purpose Cooperative Society (MMCS) on or about the 12th day of July, 2018 in Calabar within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, with intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of Forty-seven Million Naira (N47,000,000.00) from one Briggs Nimi Osim by inducing her to invest same into your Swissgolden packages through your Micheno Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Ltd, under the false pretence of paying her 80% as return on investment on her principal sum on the fortieth day of her investment, which pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act”.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In view of his not guilty plea, the prosecution counsel, T. N. Ndifon, prayed the court for a trial date and for the accused person to be remanded in prison custody.

The defendant was remanded in prison custody, while the matter was adjourned till June 13, 2019, for the hearing of the bail application.

Eke had previously been arraigned by the EFCC on two separate counts of alleged fraud of N200 million and N301.2 million respectively.

He is in prison custody, even as more victims of his Ponzi scheme continue to throng the Uyo Zonal Office of the Commission with petitions alleging how Eke collected money from one person to pay the other, only to renege when he could no longer sustain his tricks.

Man demands refund of his drink money after lady he met for the first time didn’t end up in his bed

A woman shared a drink with a man she met on a night out but the next morning she was left regretting her decision.

It's a pretty standard situation to find yourself in on a night out.

You're in a bar with your friends, when you catch the eye of a nice looking stranger who offers to buy you a drink or two.

If you're single, you might say yes to the generous offer and then strike up a conversation with them, eventually exchanging numbers at the end of the night so you can go on a real date another time.

Or at least that's the hope.

But after giving out her number to a man she met in a bar, one woman was left feeling pretty shocked when he sent her a rude message the next day about their encounter.

Over the weekend, 20-year-old student paramedic Chlo Matthews let a guy buy her a drink on a night out in Hull.

They hit it off, she gave him her number... then the unexpected happened.

Instead of telling her how nice it was to meet her or ask her out again, the man, known only as Danny, decided to send her a bill for the alcohol he'd bought her.

His reason for doing so? Because she didn't sleep with him.

In a post on Twitter the young woman shared a screenshot of the guy's text.

He begins by asking who she is and after she jogs his memory of the previous night, he asks: "Nice one, could you transfer me for those drinks I bought you last nite, since we didn't go home togeva wasn't really worth my time was it lol."

Chlo was shocked by the message and joked that she was "officially retiring from nights out" because of it.

Her tweet quickly went viral, with more than 60,000 people liking it and 8,900 retweeting it.

Over 1,000 people also took the time to comment on the post, sharing their disgust at the man's rude demand.

One person replied: "This is a joke surely? Is this what society has come to?"

Another wrote: "His mum must be so proud."

"Wow, I have no words," said a third. "Apart from what the actual f*** is wrong with people! Send him 1p and say that was what he was worth."

A fourth suggested she "invoice him" for the time she spent talking to him and deduct the drinks bill from it.

They added: "He'll still owe you and you can tell him to use the balance for admission to charm school. What a plonker."

Tramadol, cannabis influenced us to kill our boss, daughter - Guards

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two persons for allegedly killing their boss on the Ojomo Akintan Estate, Olu Foam area of Akure.

The suspects, Tasiu Abubakar and Ayuba Idris, were said to be security guards employed by the deceased.

They were paraded at the headquarters of the command on Monday for allegedly killing their boss, Mr Richard Kwakye, and his daughter, Tope, last month.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie, said the suspects fled the state after committing the crime but were apprehended in Sokoto and Kano states.


According to him, the deceased were initially declared missing but after the suspects were arrested, they confessed that they killed Richard and his daughter and threw their bodies away.

The CP stated, “Upon receipt of the report of the incident, detectives from this command swung into action and Ayuba Idris, 20, was arrested in Kano State on May 16, 2019. The handset of the missing person, Richard, and his suits were recovered from him.

“Upon interrogation, he confessed that he and the second security guard, Taisu Abubakar, knew where the two missing persons were. He led detectives to a building on the Ojomo Akintan Estate, Olu Foam area of Akure, where the decomposing bodies of Richard Kwakye, 71, and Tope Kwakye, 27, were found.

“The detectives also tracked down Taisu Abubakar, 23, in Sokoto State. One of the victims’ laptops and some clothes were recovered from him. Upon interrogation, he also confessed to the murder of the victims.

“Both suspects said that they decided to kill the daughter on the same day  the father was murdered in order to cover their track because she saw them when they killed her father.”

The commissioner said the suspects would be charged to court, while the decomposing bodies of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue.

On why they killed their employer and his daughter, Abubakar said the deceased did not offend them but they carried out the act under the influence of tramadol and Indian hemp.

Narrating how they committed the crime, he stated, “On that day, we took tramadol and Indian hemp and just decided to kill the man. While strangulating him, his daughter saw us, so we killed her too in order to cover up.”

The 71-year-old Richard was said to have been a worker on the estate and was given one of the buildings to live in with his daughter, a fresh graduate preparing to go for the National Youth Service Corps programme in July.

Zamfara APC faction expels ex-governor Yari

Two factions of Zamfara All Progressives Congress escalated their civil war on Monday with cross-expulsion of prominent members, as the party sought to hang someone for its electoral debacle in which it was stripped by the Supreme court of all elective posts it won in the last elections.

A faction of the party expelled former governor Abdulaziz Yari and the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the party, Lawal Shuaibu, blaming them for scuttling the party’s chances in the state.

Shuaibu, who recently called for Oshiomhole’s resignation was expelled for conniving with Yari to sabotage the National Working Committee of the party during the stalemated primary Elections.


The decision to expel the former governor and the Deputy National Chairman was taken at the end of an emergency meeting held in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital.

Simultaneously, another faction of the party expelled Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa for anti-party activities.

Marafa, who represents Zamfara Central in the outgoing Senate, got a Sokoto Appeal court order that disqualified the APC candidates from contesting elections. The Supreme Court validated the verdict and made APC to lose all posts.

Man arraigned for killing son with hot pressing iron

A middle-aged man, Elvis Chris, was on Monday arraigned before the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja for allegedly killing his four-year-old son with a hot pressing iron.

Chris was arraigned on one count of murder before Justice Hakeem Oshodi by the Lagos State Government.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge. It was gathered that sometime in July 2015, Chris, at his Meiran residence in the Ojokoro area of the state, allegedly killed his son by using a hot pressing iron on his body.


According to the prosecutor, M. T. Adewoye, the defendant allegedly dumped the corpse of his son in a plastic drum in a bid to cover up his crime.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

However, the counsel representing Chris from the Office of the Public Defender, E. B. Obogwu, prayed the court to withdraw his appearance immediately after the arraignment.

Obogwu noted that the matter involved              a minor hence his withdrawal from the case.

Reacting to the request of the counsel, Justice Oshodi noted that the issue of the age of the deceased did not apply in a murder case, adding that the case involved life and therefore, the question of segregation in the murder of a child or minor did not arise.

The judge, thereafter, ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Ikoyi Prison pending the determination of the case and adjourned till November 13, 2019, for trial.
