The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved indirect primaries to elect the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Kogi governorship election.
The party said this in a statement issued by its National publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Issa-Onilu said that the approval was given after a meeting of the NWC on Friday where a formal request from the Kogi executive and stakeholders was considered and deliberated on.
He recalled that the APC constitution, which was reemphasised by a decision of National Executive Committee (NEC), provides for three mode of primary election to elect party candidates.
These, he said, were indirect and direct primaries as well as consensus depending on the peculiarities of the state and preferences of the stakeholders in respective elections.
According to him, the party’s timetable for the sales of forms and conduct of primaries will be announced in due course.
Former Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday congratulated the Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola on his affirmation by the Supreme Court as the duly elected Governor of the State.
Ambode, in a statement signed by his media aide, Habib Aruna, said it was a well-deserved victory and an affirmation of the mandate given to Oyetola by the people of Osun State on September 22, 2018.
“I congratulate my brother, Governor Gboyega Oyetola on this resounding victory at the apex court. It is not only a victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC), but also an attestation to the fact that the judiciary remains the last hope for the common man.”
“With this victory, I strongly believe that it would enable the Governor to focus on delivering on his campaign promises and implementing policies that would make life more comfortable for the people of Osun State,” Ambode said.
West Virginia coal billionaire and philanthropist Chris Cline and six others died in a helicopter crash near the Bahamas on Thursday, it has been learnt.
"Today we lost a WV superstar and I lost a very close friend," Gov. Jim Justice tweeted. " ... Chris Cline built an empire and on every occasion was always there to give. What a wonderful, loving and giving man."
Six of the victims were from the United States, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.
Police said a helicopter took off from Big Grand Cay around 2 a.m. local time Thursday and was reported missing more than 12 hours later around 2:50 p.m. when it didn't arrive in Fort Lauderdale, its intended destination.

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Gboyega Oyetola as governor of Osun State.
The apex court dismissed the appeal of Senator Ademola Adeleke challenging the declaration of Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of the Osun State governorship election.
The Supreme Court in a split judgement on Friday agreed substantially with the Court of Appeal which ruled that a majority judgement delivered at the tribunal was a nullity, marking it as the end of the road.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)in September 2018 declared Oyetola winner of the Osun governorship election after a controversial rerun.
Unsatisfied with INEC’s declaration, Ademola Adeleke of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, filed a petition against Oyetola of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the tribunal.
The tribunal declared Adeleke winner of the election in March. Gboyega appealed the verdict of the tribunal. In May, the appeal court nullified Adeleke and declared Oyetola as the winner of the election.

The Police in Niger State have arrested three suspects in connection with the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in the Maitumbi area of Minna.
Northern City News learnt that the suspects, Abdulrahman Ahmed, 19; Isyaku Umar, 20; and Adamu Sani, 20, were arrested by a team of policemen following a tip-off by residents.
It was learnt that the suspects abducted the teenager and took turns to molest her.
Our correspondent gathered on Thursday that the gang ambushed the girl, who was on an errand, and held her captive for the duration of the assault.
The victim’s mother, Amina Abubakar, reported the matter to the police, which led to the arrest of the suspects.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Abubakar, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspects had confessed to the crime and were waiting for their day in court.

More than 2,000 personal trainers were recently surveyed about the weirdest requests they've ever received from clients and some of their answers might shock you.
Among the most unusual asks are n-de training sessions and oiled-up bare chested wrestling.
The top ten requests were shared by Bark.com an online local services market place which has over 3,400 personal trainers listed on their website right now.
The trainers were asked whether they'd experienced any inappropriate behaviour on the job, whether their clients had strange fitness goals or if they'd been asked to conduct a session in a weird location.
The responses showed that one personal trainer had been asked to hold a client's face while they exercised, while another claimed they'd been approached by a man who wanted a 'workout in his bedroom'.
Someone else confessed that one of their clients stripped n3ked in front of them before a session, another smacked them on the bum and a third began discussing intimate details of an affair they were having.

The Adamawa State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the people of the constituency of Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo (PDP Adamawa North) have condemned his act at an adult shop in Abuja.
They, however, pleaded that he be forgiven and the apology he tendered be accepted.
The senator, who has been in the news for slapping a woman, was apologetic on Wednesday in Abuja, where he addressed a news conference on the matter.
The PDP, in his home state, which similarly called a news briefing in Yola yesterday and some of his constituents, who spoke to The Nation, said the senator stepped out of decorum.
The PDP state chairman said the party was confident that the senator would not allow a repeat of what happened, and urged the Senate, which has undertaken to investigate the matter, to tender justice with mercy.
Uchenna and Chinaza Ebubeogu who are twin brothers have died of the same ailment just 7 months apart and have been buried together.

China is deliberately separating Muslim children from their families, faith and language in its far western region of Xinjiang, according to new research.
At the same time as hundreds of thousands of adults are being detained in giant camps, a rapid, large-scale campaign to build boarding schools is under way.
Based on publicly available documents, and backed up by dozens of interviews with family members overseas, the BBC has gathered some of the most comprehensive evidence to date about what is happening to children in the region.
Records show that in one township alone more than 400 children have lost not just one but both parents to some form of internment, either in the camps or in prison.
Formal assessments are carried out to determine whether the children are in need of "centralised care".
Alongside the efforts to transform the identity of Xinjiang's adults, the evidence points to a parallel campaign to systematically remove children from their roots.
China's tight surveillance and control in Xinjiang, where foreign journalists are followed 24 hours a day, make it impossible to gather testimony there. But it can be found in Turkey.
In a large hall in Istanbul, dozens of people queue to tell their stories, many of them clutching photographs of children, all now missing back home in Xinjiang.
"I don't know who is looking after them," one mother says, pointing to a picture of her three young daughters, "there is no contact at all."

In 60 separate interviews, in wave after wave of anxious, grief-ridden testimony, parents and other relatives give details of the disappearance in Xinjiang of more than 100 children.
They are all Uighurs - members of Xinjiang's largest, predominantly Muslim ethnic group that has long had ties of language and faith to Turkey. Thousands have come to study or to do business, to visit family, or to escape China's birth control limits and the increasing religious repression.
But over the past three years, they have found themselves trapped after China began detaining hundreds of thousands of Uighurs and other minorities in giant camps.
The Chinese authorities say the Uighurs are being educated in "vocational training centres" in order to combat violent religious extremism. But evidence shows that many are being detained for simply expressing their faith - praying or wearing a veil - or for having overseas connections to places like Turkey.
