Beyonce splits from music adviser she worked with since she was 11

Beyonce has split from Teresa LaBarbera Whites, the music adviser she has worked with since the pop superstar was only 11 years old.

There is apparently no bad blood between the 37-year-old singer and her former collaborator, according to Showbiz411.

The website vaguely referred to 'tension' involving Steve Pamon, the new chief operating officer of Beyonce's Parkwood Entertainment.

Steve comes from JP Morgan Chase, with the result that his mindset is reportedly more attuned to corporate concerns than artistic ones.

In addition to Beyonce, Teresa also helped nurture a career comeback for Britney Spears and make Jessica Simpson a star.

Now a massively desired music adviser who has worked with such names as P!nk, she was a Columbia scout when she met then nine-year-old Beyonce.

She and the little girl's manager and father Michael Knowles were among the adults who propelled Beyonce to fame as part of the girl group Destiny's Child.

Charles Olumo talks about his life, ailments at 94

Veteran actor, Abdulsalam Ishola Sanyaolu popularly known as Charles Olumo Agbako in this interview with playgroundng talks about his life, ailments among others at 94. Enjoy!

Papa, it’s been quite a while, where have you been?

Thanks so much. I have been sick but thank God I’m back on my feet.

What was the nature of the ailment?

It’s heart-related. After series of test, I was told that my heart was weak, coupled with the fact that I often forgot things, so I was placed on drugs that must be used to avoid any crisis.

What of surgery? Did they perform any surgery on you?

No, the doctors said there was no way they could perform surgery on me. They said the drugs were very essential and must not be skipped. Though, I was operated upon when I had urinary ailment recently, I’m free from that now.

Is your association, ANTP or TAMPAN aware of this?

Different people with different characters; some members were aware but it’s only Esther Idowu Philips aka Mama Rainbow that came to my rescue. She sent money to me regularly to feed and buy drugs.

Do you have any regret going into acting?

No. Our generation suffered a lot; we didn’t make money from acting. During our time, we worked to entertain people. I started as an entertainer, whereby 12 people will be pounding (yam) on my chest. At times, I would be dancing on broken bottles.

How did you get such power to withstand 12 people pounding on your chest?

It’s by practice not by any power. Also, with constant practice, I was able to jump down from a 10-storey building.

That means the ailment could be as a result of those dangerous things you’ve done in the past?

Yes, we took a lot of risks to entertain our audience in those days.

At 94, do you still act?

Yes, I do, but not regularly as before.

You mean you didn’t make money from acting?

Yes, all we were looking for in those days was fame and not money.

What then can you say you’ve achieved in the movie industry?

Thank God, I have a house. I also have children but some of them are still young.

At your age, you still have little children, how come?

I have grown up children who are doing fine. But I have some younger ones who are still living with me.

It means you have many children?

No, I only have five children from two wives.

Do you have any regret so far?

No. I thank God for the fame He gave me.

Right now, what do you want the government to do for you?

I want financial assistance from the government.

How many films have you produced so far?

I have produced three films such as Agba Aja, Ajana Oro and Nkan Se, but I didn’t make money from them.

Why do you always play a wicked man in films?

I don’t play wicked roles but that of a ‘bad man’. I play ‘bad man’ to educate people, most especially, evildoers that the wages of sin is death.

What are the differences between Agbakoin films and Agbako at home?

Is Agbako a good thing? (Laughter). At home, I’m Sanyaolu; but as soon as I put on the costume, it’s as if another power has come over me and I’m possessed.

Do you take any stimulant before going on stage?

No. I don’t smoke, I don’t take alcohol or any stimulant; my acting is natural.

Do you worship an idol that possesses you while acting?

No, I’m a Christian and an Anglican for that matter. It was the late Abdul Jabar that sponsored me and my other colleagues to Mecca sometimes ago, that’s when I became an Alhaji.

What lessons can the younger ones learn from you to make it big like you?

They should be honest with themselves. They should not be diabolical because I am not fetish; I only play a fetish man in films.

No one lives forever, so how do you want to be buried when you die?

I have instructed my children, and I’m saying it again, that I should be buried the same day I join my ancestors. I should not be taken to any mortuary.

What of your colleagues? Have you told them this too?

I have told them, and I’m also using this opportunity to inform them, that nobody should come and shed crocodile tears at my burial. If they do, my spirit will flog them, because when I needed their help, they were nowhere to be found.

Did you mentor any of the young ones?

Yes, I mentored many; some are dead while others are alive. One of those still active is Muyiwa Ademola also known as Authentic.

What else do you do now aside acting?

As you are aware, I was a mechanic before I started acting. I can’t do any other job except acting, the only snag is I didn’t make money form acting, I only made name.

Man slaps 9-year old in the face 'because he was playing near his house' (photos)

A nine-year-old boy was knocked to the ground when he was slapped by a man, for "playing near his house".

CCTV footage shows the middle-aged man following the youngster after he goes to retrieve his football from a grocery shop in Leicester.

But as the boy starts to walk away with his ball, the man slaps him, leaving the child on the floor.

The shopkeeper said: "The man hit him from behind and knocked him down and left him like that.

"I heard the boy scream and ran outside, he was very upset and crying.

"The man said the ball hit his door and he was sick of it.

"I said 'shame on you, he's nine years old. Leave him alone'."

"I think his ball hit the man's door and the little boy ran into the shop because he was scared.

"I took the boy inside the shop then back to his family and they called the police. I gave a statement to the police on Sunday night.

"The boy has a bruise and is still very shaken up," the businessman added.

In the clip, members of the public stroll past the boy, without stopping to check he is ok.

It was shared online with the comment: "The boys were playing football in the street, as kids do.

"After that this young boy, who's nine years old, went to the shop to get his ball.

"So sad how a grown man can hit someone else's child, all because they were playing football near his house.

Teenager dazzles at school prom wearing mum's wedding dress from 1998

A teenager dazzled at her end of year prom and shocked her friends when she donned her mum's wedding gown from 20 years ago.

Thrifty Grace Jeyes opted against a new dress with a hefty price tag and went to prom in her mum's wedding dress.

The 18-year-old, from Melton Mowbray, Leicester, slipped on the garment from her mum's big day back in 1998.

Grace said: "I didn't see the point in buying a new dress that I will only ever wear once so I had a look in my wardrobe and then mum's.

"I found her stunning wedding dress and I fell in love with it - it fitted perfectly, and I knew this is the one.

"She didn't know until the eve of prom and when she saw me in it, she was so happy.

"The dress means so much to my parents which made it even more special for me.

"My friends and teachers were all complimenting me on my dress as it was different from the rest but nobody believed it was once a wedding dress."

Even mum Dawn, who runs her own business, was shocked to see her daughter in the bridal gown.

She said: "Grace told me she already had a prom dress and didn't want to shop for another one.

"I assumed it was going to be one of her many dresses in her wardrobe, so when she came down in my wedding dress, I was so shocked.

"I was extremely flattered and felt like I must have decent dress sense for her to wear it 20 years later.

"She has always liked my wedding dress, but I didn't think she would ever wear it out.

COZA Saga: PFN Panel has 2 weeks to submit report on Fatoyinbo – CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Thursday said the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, panel set up to probe the rape allegation against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), has been given two weeks to submit its report.

Singer, Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola had accused Fatoyinbo of raping her 20 years ago when she was still 16 years old, but Fatoyinbo has denied the accusation.

CAN President, Dr Samson Ayokunle, at a news conference in Abuja said the association had taken it stands in the alleged rape case against Fatoyinbo.

He noted that the allegation, no matter how bad it might be, remained an allegation until proven otherwise, that was until it was properly investigated and we have a truth to hold onto.

”We have told you without mincing words that we will never support immorality in whatever form, it is alien to the culture of the church, to the teachings of Christ.

”And there is no pulpit that I know in Nigeria that the members are taught immorality, but we will not condemn until we have reasons to condemn, let the panel come out with the result let’s know what the truth is.

”I told you in the press release we issued that we have given the right to Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), because we don’t deal with individual churches, we deal with blocs.

”We have directed PFN, an arm of a bloc, which is also large enough to investigate that matter. I am telling you under God that PFN has set up that panel and that panel had been given two weeks within which to submit its report,

”Not only that, the two individuals involved have been invited by the committee and we are assuring them that nothing will be covered,” he said.

Mom who couldn't sleep becus she feared she would died

Lying in her bedroom in the pitch black, Rachael Williams counted every single breath she took.

She was gripped by an overwhelming fear – convinced that if she fell asleep, she would die.

“Counting my breaths was the only way I could reassure myself that I was still alive and everything was OK,” says the mum-of three, 26, who lives in Surrey.

Rachael was suffering from a rare sleep phobia, which developed after her two young sons were diagnosed with autism.

Craig, Rachael’s husband, was in the armed forces and often worked away from home. And when he wasn’t there, Rachael would spend night after night wide awake.

“I was terrified that if I died in my sleep no one would find me or my ¬children, and they wouldn’t be able to get help.

“I’d worry about whether they’d survive until their dad got home.”

Often, Rachael would lie awake until 5am, only nodding off for a few minutes before her children woke up.

“I was exhausted. But I was too afraid to let myself go to sleep and I thought that at least if I was awake, I knew I wasn’t dead.”

Rachael is mum to Christopher, now five, and Jacob, three, who are both on the autistic spectrum, and Matthew, 11 months.

Christopher was about six months when Rachael realised something wasn’t right. He didn’t want to be cuddled and would have uncontrollable meltdowns. He also had seizures where he would stare into space for minutes at a time.

Eventually Rachael sought help from her health visitor and, after many tests, Christopher was diagnosed with autism when he was two.

Rachael knew early on that his brother Jacob was just like him.

“Jacob was only eight weeks when I realised he was autistic because he didn’t copy me when I poked my tongue out. He didn’t even look at me and I just knew.”

Determined her boys would get all the help they needed, she read every bit of research on autism she could get her hands on and arranged portage training in her home, a type of early intervention therapy that develops learning in small steps.

“I was 110% committed,” she recalls.

But when Rachael was 18 weeks pregnant with Matthew, everything started to get on top of her. Craig, who had transferred to the Grenadier Guards in Aldershot, was retraining as a mechanic so he could eventually spend more time with the family. But this meant he would be away for a year, leaving Rachael alone.

It was then that the sleep phobia really took off and before long Rachael says she was “like a zombie”.

Eventually, Rachael realised she had to get help and she booked an ¬appointment with her doctor

“I said, ‘I know it sounds crazy but I’m terrified of going to sleep at night’.”

994 Nigerians deported from Ghana in 18 months —FG

The Federal Government said 994 Nigerians have been deported from Ghana through the land borders in the last 18 months.

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, explained that 508 Nigerians were deported within the last six months, while 486 were repatriated in 2018.

She disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday, while meeting a Nigerian professor, Augustine Nwagbara, who was sacked by the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana, for incitement.

Dabiri-Erewa cautioned that the continent would suffer should Nigeria treat other nationals in the same manner.

She said, “It will not go down well on the continent if Nigeria decides to do what they do to Nigerians over there. We demand respect. If a Nigerian commits a crime, you should deal with that particular person rather than generalize issues by punishing those who are innocent of the crime.”

She stated that with the signing of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, there was a need for African countries to be united and work towards promoting bilateral relations.

Nwagbara stated that he was yet to receive a letter of dismissal from the Ghanaian government.

Stressing that the alleged inciting video was doctored, he noted that the entire scenario was meant to promote xenophobic attacks against Nigerians.

He commended the intervention of the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana, alleging that without its timely intervention, he could have been killed.

Adorable three-year-old serenades an amused Camilla as she celebrates turning 72

Donning a pleated white skirt and cropped tan jacket, the Duchess paired her outfit with flat ballet shoes of a matching colour.

She accessorised with jewellery including peal earrings and a silver bracelet - and completed her outfit with a £220 small raffia tote bag from Heidi Klein, which featured bamboo handle detail.

Kidnapping: Oluwo calls for death penalty

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has urged the Osun State Government to come up with a law that will make kidnapping an offence punishable by death.

The royal father stated this when he led other royal fathers in Iwoland to congratulate Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on his recent victory at the Supreme Court in Osogbo on Thursday.

The monarch said, “Fulani people have been living with us for over 400 years. I visited nomadic settlement in my area. The schools there were empty. Many of those children are not equipped for the future and they may not be interested in cattle rearing any more.

“Many of those children are today engaging in kidnapping now; many armed men of Fulani ethnic stock are joining forces with those Fulani that have been living around us for a long time. We must encourage them to go to school. Education remains a permanent solution to the crises.

“But if the government can impose harsh punishment like death penalty, it will discourage people from engaging in kidnapping.”

The monarch, therefore, called on the government “to kill anyone found guilty of kidnapping by the court” to stop the menace.

He said it was impossible to ask Fulani herders to vacate Yorubaland, saying as Nigerians, they have right to reside in any part of the country.

Death toll in Ondo communal clash rises, residents flee

Residents of Ago Alaye town in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, where a clash broke out over land on Tuesday, have deserted the town as death toll rose to four on Thursday.

The clash broke out over a land dispute between the people of Ikale and Araromi Obu, during which five houses and three vehicles belonging to Araromi Obu natives living in Ago Alaye were set ablaze.

The situation led to the declaration of a 24-hour curfew on the town on Wednesday by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The situation compelled Akeredolu to embark on an on-the-spot assessment of the two warring communities.

The governor warned that any person found culpable in the violence would be made to face the wrath of the law.

He said, “Our administration will not condone any form of criminalities in the state.”

The governor was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie, the Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brig. Gen. Zakari Abubakar, and other security chiefs.

When he visited the palace of the Ajobu of Araromi Obu, Oba Aderemi Adelola, the governor assured him  of maximum security of lives and property of the people of the town.

He said, “Our government is ready to take action on Ago Alaye community if the violence persists.”

Akeredolu, who said security forces were on ground to maintain peace and order, commended the monarch for maintaining peace in the community by appealing to the people against a reprisal.

“I have heard that you called your subjects that there should not be any reprisal. You have maintained peace within Araromi community. We thank you for that. We will not allow miscreant to disturb the peace in this community.”

At the palace of Abodi of Ikaleland, Oba George Faduyile, the governor pleaded with the traditional rulers in Ikaleland to caution their subjects.

The governor said the state government would  set up a committee to look into the cause of conflict.
