Pedophile Jeffrey Epstein attempts suicide in jail cell

Jeffrey Epstein has been found injured in the fetal position in his New York jail cell in what has been described as a possible suicide attempt or assault.

The 66-year-old, who is being held in custody ahead of his trial for s*x trafficking, was said to be semi-conscious with neck injuries when he was found in Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Witnesses told RadarOnline that Epstein was 'blue in the face' and was 'sprawled out on the floor' as prison guards rushed to treat him in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

At one point, he is said to have lost consciousness before he was eventually carried away.

Sources told NBC News that Epstein was found in his cell in the fetal position with marks on his neck after possible trying to hang himself.

Investigators are looking into whether it was a suicide attempt by Epstein or if the billionaire financier was attacked.

Due to him being in federal custody, Epstein is locked up in his cell for about 23 hours each day. The jail is the same facility where notorious Mexican drug kingpin Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán was held during his trial.

Rare Nike 'Moon Shoe' auctions for $437K, breaking sneaker auction record

A rare pair of Nike sneakers with a storied history has just shattered auction records.

Sotheby's auctioned off the Nike "Moon Shoe" for $437,500 Tuesday night, "far surpassing" the pre-sale high estimate of $160,000, the auction house said in a press release. The previous world record for sneakers sold at auction was set in 2017 for a pair of signed Converse worn by Michael Jordan in the 1984 Olympic basketball final.

Just 12 pairs of the Nike Waffle Racing Flat, or Moon Shoe, were ever made -- and fewer exist today, according to Sotheby's. They were designed by Nike co-founder and renowned Oregon University Track Coach Bill Bowerman for runners at the 1972 Olympic trials.

Bowerman was inspired to create the innovative "waffle" sole traction pattern found on Nike's early running shoes after tinkering with his wife's waffle iron, pouring rubber into the mold to create the first prototype for the sole.

The sneakers were purchased by "avid collector" Miles Nadal, and are the only known pair to exist in unworn condition, according to Sotheby's.

"I am thrilled to acquire the iconic Nike ‘Moon Shoes,’ one of the rarest pairs of sneakers ever produced, and a true historical artifact in sports history and pop culture," Nadal said in a statement.

Cristiano Ronaldo r*pe accuser's family state 'it is not over' after charges are dropped

The family of Cristiano Ronaldo’s r*pe accuser have broken their silence after prosecutors refused to file criminal charges against the footballer saying it’s “not over”.

On Monday, Clark County District Attorney’s Office said it had made a decision not to prosecute as "the allegations of s*xual assault against Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”

It came after Miss Mayorga asked police to reopen the investigation last year.  Now the former model’s mother has said the case is not over.

Cheryl Mayorga said: “We’re just not going to comment right now because I’m not sure it is over.”

Police arrest Evans arms supplier after two years manhunt (photos)

A 46-year-old notorious arms dealer, Godwin Chinyere, who was alleged to have sold most of the firearms, ammunition and rocket launchers used by billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Owuamadike, A.k.A Evans has been arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

Evans who was arrested on June 2017 in his mansion at the highbrow area of Magodo, Lagos State, by the IRT, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari and currently standing trial at the Lagos State High Courts of Igbosere and Ikeja, was said to have mentioned Chinyere at the time of his arrest, as his major arms supplier.

Police sources disclosed that Evans, confessed during his arrest that some of the rocket launchers and Ak-47 rifles, used by members of his gang in blowing up bank security doors and Bullion vans, during robbery and kidnapping operations, were all supplied to him by Chinyere, who he said had contacts with arms dealers in Chad and the Niger Republic.

The source explained that operatives of the IRT launched a manhunt on Chinyere at the time they received the information from Evans, but stated that Chinyere, became elusive and went into hiding as he was aware that Evans has been arrested and would give out information as he was singing like a bird.

A source added that Chinyere came out of hiding recently when he felt that the Evans case has gone to court and the IRT operatives hunting for him may have channelled their energy on other cases of national importance but was unaware that the hunt for him was still on. He was trailed to Asaba Delta State, where he was hiding and was apprehended

How suspected herdsmen abducted CMD’s son, others very close to Ibadan

Suspected herdsmen, on Tuesday, laid an ambush at the Ajebo end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and kidnapped three persons.

The Chief Medical Director of the Lafia Hospital, Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State, Dr Oladipupo Sule, confirmed to Punch Metro on Wednesday that his son, Kayode and two members of staff of the hospital were abducted by the suspected herdsmen.

He gave the names of the abducted hospital employees as Opeyemi Abifarin and Dele Adigun.

Narrating his ordeal to Punch Metro, the driver of the vehicle that conveyed the victims, Felix Tomori, said they had just driven past  the Foursquare Church camp at Ajebo and approaching the Ibadan toll gate when bullets suddenly started flying from the bush in their direction.

He stated, “I drove a bit forward but met another batch of the gunmen, who fired straight at the windscreen of the vehicle and one of the bullets hit Kayode in the leg. They didn’t stop firing and at that moment, other vehicles at our back started reversing and I was helpless.

“I parked and quickly opened the driver’s door, but two of the hoodlums, who had sticks in their hands, caught up with me by the door.

“The two men looked like Fulani in appearance. I pushed them aside and ran into the bush in the opposite direction. They were following me but sensed that the other occupants of the vehicle were about alighting, so, they turned back and went after them.

“At that point, I managed to escape and thought that the others would escape too, but I later realised that only Chika, a female employee of the hospital, escaped. The bandits ended up whisking away the injured Kayode and two others.

“The police arrived about 30 minutes later and I ran to them. They took me to their station, where I met Chika. I am still at the station as we have yet to hear from our colleagues, while the kidnappers have not contacted the families of the victims.”

Punch correspondent gathered that the kidnappers waylaid the victims around 7pm and, many motorists made attempts to turn back to where they were coming from, while others abandoned their vehicles and ran for cover.

25 cases of flesh-eating bacteria infection reported in Thailand hospital

Thailand's Nan Hospital said on Wednesday that 25 cases of flesh-eating bacteria necrotizing fasciitis have been diagnosed in July, with one patient seriously ill in the intensive care unit.

Dr.Pongthep Wongwatcharapaiboon, deputy director of Nan Hospital in Thailand's north said the hospital has seen 25 flesh-eating bacteria infections in July, compared to two cases reported in June.

"Most of the patients are farmers who have been ploughing in their muddy fields and got some wounds on their skins but failed to heal. As quickly as the bacteria was spreading, only half a day or so more could have made some serious life-altering changes to one's body," said the doctor.

Dr. Pongthep said this infection damages the skin and fat tissue, then it infects muscles and spreads widely.

"A small cut in one's leg caused the bacteria to thrive and eat their way on his leg to the extent that antibiotics cannot act faster compared to the rate of how the bacteria was moving, which eventually required amputation," Pongthep added.

Imo PDP using EFCC against me, Okorocha breaks silence after sealing of his properties

Former governor of Imo, Senator Rochas Okorocha has denied being invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes to respond to some petitions written against him.

In a press statement about his reaction to the EFCC sealing or marking some of his properties in Owerri, Okorocha accused the Peoples Democratic Party of instigating the raid.

He also said some of the properties were built before he became governor.

The full statement by Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha’s press adviser:

On Tuesday, July 23, 2019, as at about 6am, Agents of the Economic & Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, from its Office in Enugu with Hilux buses loaded with armed military and mobile Policemen stormed the Rochas Foundation College Owerri, with more than three thousand students, and most of them, orphans, and sealed the College.

The Commission also sealed the East High College and Academy, Owerri with Uloma Rochas Nwosu as the proprietor, among other investments belonging to the former governor and family which the Commission Sealed.

The action of EFCC with the presence of heavily Armed Military and Police Mobile Personnel frightened the students and most of them began to cry. It was a sympathetic scenario.

What is obvious is that the PDP government in the State with Chief Emeka Ihedioha as governor and all the PDP Chieftains who felt politically displaced from 2011 to 2019 by Rochas Okorocha had come together to launch war against Rochas and his family. And APC members. And that was why they needed INEC to declare their Candidate winner even when he didn’t meet the requirement.

Unfortunately, they have instigated certain agencies like EFCC into taking some hasty actions following flood of petitions by them.

Our concern about the action of the EFCC is the approach. There was no prior invitation to the Management or Proprietors of the Colleges and other establishments sealed by the Commission as expected before such action.

To the best of our knowledge too, these Colleges have not been under the investigation of the Commission. We have had the feeling that the Sealing of the Colleges or any other structure as the case maybe, would have been based on the outcome of their investigation in which the managements or the proprietors would have also been interrogated.

Sealing the colleges and other properties because they belong to Rochas Okorocha’s family before investigation is what is difficult for us to comprehend especially when most of these establishments had preceded the governorship of Rochas Okorocha.

The Rochas Foundation Colleges have existed in Imo and in several states of the Federation including Plateau, Kano, Sokoto, Kaduna, Oyo, Bauchi and so on, years before Okorocha’s governorship. And the EFCC may also go to those states outside Imo to seal the rest of the Colleges.

What is happening in Imo at the moment is not governance. It is a total war against Rochas and his family, APC members, members of other parties and Opponents. They said they want to make the State uncomfortable for Opponents and they are doing it with recklessness.

It should also not be forgotten that there is a subsisting Court Order to this effect. And we believe that the Commission’s office in Enugu is aware of the Court Order in question as it concerns the Commission and Okorocha’s investments. The EFCC is a highly responsible Institution and our appeal is that it should not be incited against Okorocha and family and should equally take cognizance of the Court Order in question.

Senator Rochas Okorocha and family believe strongly in the State and have relocated most of their businesses to Owerri unlike these PDP bigwigs who do not love the State, with all of them having nothing to show that they have a stake in the State.

We want to appeal to the EFCC to unseal the Colleges and other ventures they had sealed pending the outcome of the investigation they said they have begun. And also considering the stand of the Court of Competent Jurisdiction on the issue.

The students of the Colleges, most of them without parents, cannot be allowed to suffer because of the action of a wicked government in the State. It is not all about Rochas Okorocha and the family, but about humanity and posterity.

Sam Onwuemeodo
Special Adviser (Media) to the former governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha

Afenifere breaks silence after burial of Pa Fasoranti's daughter, says killer herdsmen must leave southwest or face hostility

The Pan-Yoruba Socio-political organisation, Afenifere has ordered killer Fulani herdsmen to leave Southwest now or face serious confrontation.

The organisation stated that about 30,000 people had been killed due to activities of killer herdsmen between 2015 and 2019.

At a news conference on Wednesday in Ikeja, Lagos, one of the leaders of Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo said the decision was taken following the killing of the daughter of Afenifere’s leader, Reuben Fasoranti, Olufunke Olakunrin by suspected herdsmen.

Adebanjo warned the National Assembly “not to amend the Land Use Act with the intent to change the predominance of land allocation in states to the federal government to allow RUGA’s implementation. We demand their immediate exit from Yoruba land. If they refused to leave in reasonable time, we will not stop our people from confronting them.

“Yoruba land has now become the epicenter of the terror of these Fulani marauders and our people are fed up with the shedding of innocent blood that is quite anathema to our respect for human life which would see us remembering those who died peacefully 50 years down the line.”

He expressed disappointment with the refusal of the federal government to allow elected governors have state police, while on the other hand permitting the setting up Fulani bandit -vigilantes on Yoruba soil in addition to the Fulani militias terrorising the same land.

“We are miffed that those who will not allow our elected governors have police are now setting up Fulani bandit -vigilantes on our soil in addition to the Fulani militias terrorizing our land,” he said.

He, therefore, lamented that about 30,000 people “have been killed by the Fulani herdsmen/militia across the country between 2015 and 2019. Apart from not bringing them to book, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has taken so many steps which betray the encouragement being given to these troublers of Nigeria.”

“We cannot continue to live under these conditions. The blood of our people will no longer be used to water the tree of a dysfunctional unitary order,” he added.

Adebanjo called for an immediate timeline for a return to a federalist Nigeria that would allow for autonomy for each state to run its internal affairs, saying that the activities of Fulani herdsmen/bandits/kidnappers and other miscreants would have been effectively dealt with if the governors as Chief Security officers of their states had control of the security agencies.

He said with the current proposed security budget for 2019 is N1.76 trillion, a devolved entity would have enabled better utilization of part of that expenditure; particularly in the over N300b for policing which was further subsidised by the state governments’ additional allocations and over N600b intended for internal affairs.

According to Adebanjo, the past few years had been troubling for the country as “we have witnessed mass killings of people in the country, most of which have been linked to Fulani herdsmen/militia and the Nigerian state has not been able to dispel the allegations by unraveling the brains behind the killings and applying the law against them.

“We demand an immediate timeline for a return to a federalist Nigeria so that we can have autonomy to run our internal affairs and failure to do so will constrain our capacity to continue to restrain our people from embracing self-determination.

“We task the government to find the real killers of Olakunrin and not the innocent people that the communities around where she was killed have alleged are being randomly arrested and put an end to the genocide in our zone and across the country.”

Adebanjo said the federal government had been careless and insensitive in the handling the menace of Fulani herdsmen in the country.

“First, it was outright denial it was engaged in by saying those carrying AK-47 riffles about and killing people were foreign Fulani. The President specifically said they were Gaddafi’s men let loose from Libya and yet they were not arresting them.

“Next they moved to accuse people of spreading hate speech against the local Fulani. It got to a ridiculous stage that when Miyetti Allah is accused of any crime, it is either the Ministry of Information or Presidential spokespersons becoming the mouthpiece of the group. It is now clear we Yoruba have had enough-as the Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo and Prof Wole Soyinka and other Yoruba patriots have warned,” he said.

However, Adebanjo addressed the conference alongside other Afenifere leaders, including Prof Banji Akintoye, Prof. Akin Osuntokun, Dr. Femi Okunrounmu, Chief Supo Shonibare, Alhaji Sola Lawal and Mr. Yinka Odumakin.

Cristiano Ronaldo's mum, sister, break silence after criminal charges are dropped against the footballer

Cristiano Ronaldo’s family have welcomed news he will not face criminal charges over an alleged Las Vegas r*pe.

The footballer’s doting mum Dolores Aveiro and sisters Katia and Elma have backed him since it emerged last year he was facing a new US police probe over Kathryn Mayorga’s claims he attacked her at a hotel in the city.

On Tuesday, after prosecutors said her allegations “cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt”, Dolores took to social media to insist she always knew Cristiano had never done anything wrong.

The mum-of-four, who has 1.9 million Instagram followers, posted a picture of her by a pool in a matching leopard-print top and trousers and said: “Face of serenity of someone who knows her children.”

She finished her comment with the hashtags ‘justica’ and ‘familia’ - Portuguese for ‘justice’ and ‘family’.

Cristiano’s sister Elma posted a screengrab of a Portuguese TV news report confirming Cristiano would not face charges alongside the message: “Divine justice takes its time but it never errs.”

Las Vegas police reopened the case last autumn after she claimed Ronaldo paid her £300,000 to buy her silence.

Five-times Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano, 34, always denied the allegations and responded to the new accusation by saying: “Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in.”

Tanko was appointed by Buhari as acting CJN all through the period of the presidential election until lately when the National Judicial Commission, NJC, recommended him for appointment as substantive CJN.

Wife sues ex-husband for infecting her with HIV in landmark UK case

A woman is suing her ex-husband for infecting her with HIV after she claims he had unprotected s*x with multiple men and women behind her back.

The 36-year-old claims she became infected her husband had unprotected s*x outside their marriage.

She told The Sun of her shock at being diagnosed with the disease after suffering series of debilitating illnesses including pneumonia.

She said: "As soon as they told me I said ‘That b****** has given it me. I’d been faithful so there was no one else it could have been."

She believes he didn't know he had the disease until she was diagnosed, but has accused him of gross negligence over his actions, in what is believed to be a landmark legal action.

The couple had reportedly been together seven years, and wed in 2017, but the relationship broke down over her suspicions he had been cheating on her.

She had been trying to rekindle the relationship when she began feeling unwell last October, beginning with shingles under her eye, then a huge red rash all over her body that landed her in hospital.

Initially doctors thought she had a tropical disease, but in December she was called into hospital to receive the news that she had HIV.

She described her despair, as she had little knowledge of the advances in the treatment of HIV and Aids since the 1980s crisis.

She reportedly rang her ex as soon as she got the diagnosis, saying she was scared he would sleep with someone else and give it to them.

“I said ‘I’ve just been told I have HIV.’ He went quiet. Then he just said ‘OK’.”

She claimed that two days later he sent an accusing text that said: “I can’t believe you just told me

I’m going to die.”

The woman, who was not identified in reports, said: “He is so selfish. It was all about him even though I was in a wheelchair when I got out of hospital. I was so upset.”

He then accused her of having Aids, saying she was obsessed with cleanliness and suggesting her use of bleach to clean the house had weakened her immune system.

After that she decided to contact lawyers.

The woman who said she has since come to terms with her diagnosis as she now knows the disease is no longer considered a death sentence, says she wants to educate the public against HIV stigma.

The illness is now treatable thanks to modern medical advances meaning patients are able to live a relatively normal life.

It is also possible to live with an undetectable viral load due to drugs that enable HIV-positive people to have s*x without passing the illness on.

Under UK law, people who are HIV positive and have s*x without a condom without telling their partner about their status risk legal action over "reckless transmission".

The woman is attempting to gain compensation from her ex via the courts, after being advised against seeking a conviction because proving a criminal offence can be difficult, and could mean her s*xual history is probed.

It is not a criminal offence to have s*x while HIV-positive if the sufferer does not know they have the disease, or if they have told their partner, and took reasonable steps to avoid infecting them.

HIV transmission prosecutions are controversial around the world.

Last April, hairdresser Daryll Rowe , then 27, of Edinburgh, became the first person in the UK to be jailed for deliberately trying to infect at least 10 men with HIV.

U.S. imposes visa restrictions on Nigerians undermining democracy

The U.S. Government has imposed visa restrictions on “individuals responsible for undermining the Nigerian democratic process”.

A spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State, Ms Morgan Ortagus, who announced this in a statement on Tuesday, said the action applied to those responsible for election-related violence.

Ortagus said the unidentified individuals had “operated with impunity at the expense of the Nigerian people and undermined democratic principles and human rights”.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that no fewer than 39 persons died in violence related to the last general elections in the country.

The action, according to the spokesperson, is in fulfillment of the U.S. government’s earlier promise to consider sanctions against anti-democratic forces, including organisers of election-related violence in the country.
