Pretty screen diva, Bimbo Akintola, has said that one of the things she fears the most in her life is social media.
The Oyo State-born star, who spoke with Saturday Beats earlier in the week, stated that despite its many positive sides, social media had a way of influencing people negatively.
According to the 49-year-old, many young people across Nigeria were allowing themselves to be pressured into living fake lives through what they see on social media.
While advising youths not to be carried away by what they saw on the various networking platforms they subscribed to on the Internet, Akintola stated that many people only showed the interesting parts of their lives and not the terrible sides, thus tricking many into believing that life was full of goodies.
She said, “The first thing people need to remind themselves of is that it is not everything they see on social media that is real.
“A lot of people only show the sweet sides of their lives on social media, and those who look at such do not always know that there is a sour side too.
“As far as I am concerned, social media only portrays one side of the story and not the reality of life itself and that is why I fear it so much.
“Young people must be careful not to allow social media to pressure them into leading fake lives.”

Did you indulge in sports while growing up?
I’ve been playing football since my nursery and primary school days. I like table tennis too. I played during break time at school.
Do you still participate in sports?
Yes, I still play table tennis. I have a table tennis board at the palace. I am also a very good draft player. I also play Ludo and volleyball. Sometimes, I play these sports with my subjects.
Which club do you support and would love to buy?
It is Chelsea. I am a Chelsea fan.
Do you think Chelsea can yield good return on investment, if you acquire the club?
I am a Chelsea supporter. It doesn’t matter what they are doing or where they are. There would be a time that they will come back; and I will not switch because they are not doing well.
Justice Fadawu Umar of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri on Friday sentenced one Usman Idris alongside his company, Influential Investment Limited to one year in prison on each of the three-count amended charge preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Count one of the charges reads: “That you, Usman Ibrahim Idris, being a Managing Director and alter ego of Influential Investment Company Limited, a company registered in Nigeria, sometime between 6th May and 6th October, 2015 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did dishonestly misappropriate the sum of N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen Million Naira) being investment of Abubakar Mallam Baba in Investment Company Limited for telecommunication business, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code Act Ca. 102 Laws of the Borno State of Nigeria and punishable under section 309 of the same Law.”
He was arraigned along with his company on April 15, 2019 for criminal diversion of funds to the tune of N30,000,000 and pleaded “not guilty”.
In the course of the trial, counsel for the EFCC, Benjamin Manji presented three witnesses and tendered three exhibits, which forced Idris and his company to enter into a plea bargain agreement with the EFCC prompting him to change to a guilty plea.
Subsequently, the prosecution substituted the initial two-count charge with an amended three-count charge, dated and filed on July 17, 2019 to which Idris and Influential Investment Company Limited pleaded “guilty”.
Justice Umar, thus convicted him accordingly and adjourned for sentencing.
While adjourning the matter to August 5, 2019 Justice Umar ordered that he should be remanded in prison.
Nigerian gospel music star, Yinka Ayefele, has revealed that he was childless for 25 years before he welcomed triplets in June.
The 51-year-old artiste spoke at an annual gospel programme organised by Love of Christ Generation Church C&S London tagged ‘The Comforter.’
The event held on Saturday at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. Narrating his experience at the gathering, Ayefele, who was also billed to perform at the event, revealed that ‘Iya Adura’ had long prophesied that he would welcome his own children soon.
He said, “I met Iya Adura in 2018 in London. She told me that if I believe all things are possible. I have never had a child and I don’t have a child anywhere. I have been married for 25 years.
“In 2018, I went to Clapham, London, and she took me to a room and told me about great testimonies in her life. Initially, I just considered those testimonies as one of those things men of God said.
She told me that God said I would have my children. That there is nothing God cannot do. I believed her and I can tell you that I am a testimony today. I am proudly ‘the first Nigerian artiste to have triplets’.”

A rugby player faces jail for shattering an opponent's jaw with a "sly" off-the-ball punch during a game.
Sion Keiron Jones, 34, has today been convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm after the unprovoked attack in the final minutes of a match.
A court heard Mr Rogers was knocked unconscious by the blow, and needed surgery to fit metal plates and screws in his face.
But Jones denied the assault and insisting he was stuck at the bottom of a ruck, Wales Online reports.
The Swansea Crown Court jury of seven women and five men found Jones guilty after deliberating for three hours and 20 minutes.
He'll be sentenced next month at the same court.
The assault, which took place during a match between Pontardawe RFC and Ferryside RFC in Swansea, south Wales, in October 2017, left Mr Rogers traumatised.

A sportswear fan was shocked to take her leggings off at the end of a long day in the sun to discover a logo scorched onto her limb.
Danielle Viagus-Fister was sat outside in the sizzling weather waiting for her friend to return from a driving lesson.
For close to an hour and a half the 21-year-old was left on the porch anticipating her return.
What she didn't realise - as the sun beat down on her - was that something was going on below her waist.
It was only when she got home and stripped off her branded Adidas leggings that she realised what had happened.
The logo of the sportswear company had been negatively branded onto her skin, with the burnt red area around the letters highlighting the pale skin of the German clothing firm.
"It was when I went to put on my bikini that I saw my leg," Danielle said.
"I thought 'Oh my god'. I was in fits of laughter."
Suspecting that the logo will fade from her leg by the morning, the Poole, Dorset woman was quick to capitalise on the unusual occurence.
As well as collecting "loads of shares" when she posted it online, Danielle contacted Adidas asking if they would hire her as an on-brand model.
Sadly the company turned down her request, complementing her on a "nice tan" before admitting it only took sponsorship bids from Australia and Germany.
A football fan took his own life just hours after telling a therapist he'd attempted suicide. Sam Spooner, 20, told his counsellor he had tried to take his own life but he was not taken to hospital because he reassured her and his mother that he planned to play football with friends.
The inquest heard that counsellor Carla Cowling was reluctant to let him leave the office, and even wrote a letter to his GP expressing her concerns.
A day later, he was found unconscious in his bedroom by his stepfather at home in the village of Wistaton, Cheshire. He died later in hospital.
Coroner Peter Sigee slammed the 'failure to intervene' and said there were 'missed opportunities' to help Mr Spooner.
His mother, Jude Rouse, said in a statement: 'I've never got over his untimely death. I want to express my feelings of helplessness that there is not enough help for the parents or careers.
'I wanted help when Sam was alive and struggling. I keep thinking of those words that he had fire in his belly and he still found enjoyment from football. It was almost like his last farewell.
'The biggest feeling I have is that I let him down all way through his mental health problems.'
An inquest in Crewe heard that Mr Spooner, who was described by his family as an 'entertainer', had been battling depression following the death of his father when he was just 15.
He was given an inheritance and spent it on a new car but he 'did not feel the need' to work and struggled to hold down jobs after doing his A Levels at a local high school.
Mrs Rouse, said: 'Sam's friends had gone up to university and he felt he was missing out on a lot of the fun they were having like he had under-achieved and felt inadequate.'
More than 100 migrants are missing after their boat sank off the coast of Libya, in what might be the worst tragedy in the Mediterranean this year, aid agencies have said.
"The sinking took place off the coast of the city of Khoms," some 100km from Tripoli, said Safa Msehli, spokesperson for the International Organisation of Migration in Libya.
About 145 migrants were rescued by the Libyan coastguard, and survivors had reported that about 150 people remained missing, she said.
General Ayoub Kacem, a spokesman for the Libyan navy, said that "134 migrants were rescued and a body recovered, while 115 other migrants are still missing".
"A wooden boat carrying around 250 people, including women and children, sank some five nautical miles from the coast, according to witness testimony from the migrants who survived," Mr Kacem said in a statement.
The charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said as many as 250 migrants were still missing.
The migrants had been apparently headed out to sea on three boats lashed together, MSF mission chief Julien Raickman said.
He said survivors had reported a total of almost 400 people on board.
Mr Kacem said most of the rescued migrants were from Ethiopia while others were Palestinians and Sudanese. The coastguard was waiting for authorities to provide accommodation for them.
The head of the UN refugee agency Filippo Grandi tweeted that it was "the worst Mediterranean tragedy of this year".
The National Human Rights Commission on Thursday called for a dialogue between the Federal Government and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shiites, whose recent protest for the release of their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat, led to a violent clash in which lives were lost.
A statement by the NHRC’s Director, Corporate Affairs and External Linkages, Lambert Oparah, quoted the Executive Secretary of the commission, Tony Ojukwu, as warning that the crisis could degenerate “into monumental human rights and humanitarian crises” if not handled peacefully.
The commission also called for the speedy trial of the couple who are facing a murder charge at the High Court of Kaduna State in Kaduna.
The commission regretted the death of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Federal Capital Territory Command, Usman Umar, a Channels Television journalist, Precious Owolabi, and the injury sustained by some of the protesters during the Monday’s demonstrations by the Shiites.
While it “condoled with the families of those who lost their loved ones” the commission stated that “that(the) incident calls for serious and urgent action to address the situation”.
“The Executive Secretary reiterated the Commission’s call on Government and the leaders of the Islamic Movement to consider dialogue as the best option in this conflict,” the statement added.
Hundreds of Togolese on Thursday marched through Lagos roads, calling for an end to the government of President Faure Gnassingbe, who is seeking a fourth term in office.
The Togolese nationals, who carried placards and banners, said they left their country to protest in Nigeria because Faure was using the military to repress public demonstrations against his government.
While appealing for support from the Nigerian government, the protesters said they visited the office of the Economic Community of West African States at Onikan, Lagos, to get support for their cause.
The spokesperson for the protesters, Ms. Foussena Djagba, said, “The current situation in Togo poses a real risk for the entire sub-region. That is why, we want to make a solemn appeal to all ECOWAS heads of state, to advise against Faure Gnassingbe in relation to his fourth term.
“The Gnassingbe family wants to impose a monarch; we do not want it. We stand ready to fight to the end. This fourth term of Faure would be a shame not only in West Africa but for all Africa as a whole.
“This country (Nigeria) has taught us many things, including political alternation at the top of the state. We see that the current President of Nigeria is not the son of a former President. We also know that Aso Rock is not a family residence,” Gjagba added.
Faure has been the President of Togo for 14 years after he succeeded his father, Eyadéma Gnassingbé, who ruled the country for 38 years.
