'Don’t kill mosquitoes, they need blood to feed their kids' animal-rights activist says

An animal-rights activist is urging people not to kill mosquitoes, but instead to let the insects bite them.

Aymeric Caron, who is also a French TV presenter, says the insects suck human blood to obtain protein for their eggs and should not be swatted in the prcoess.

He said that killing mosquitoes is "embarrassing for anti-specists who realise they are being attacked by a mother trying to nourish her children," according to the Independent .

Anti-specists are people who argue that all species should be treated equally.

Mr Caron, who describes himself as an anti-specist, says he always allows himself to be bitten by mosquitoes, except in Africa, where there is a risk of catching malaria.

In a video, he said: "One can consider that a blood donation from time to time to an insect who is only trying to nourish her children is not a drama."

But British animal protection workers have said his comments are "a step too far" and "an unhelpful distraction".

Caron also said it was better to use natural mosquito repellents like citronella, lavender oil or garlic, to wash regularly and avoid using perfumes.

Police officer accidentally shoots woman dead while trying to hit loose dog

A police officer accidentally shot and killed a woman when he opened fire to try and hit a loose dog.

Disturbing bodycam footage released by the Arlington Police Department in Texas revealed how an officer who aimed fire at a dog missed and struck a passerby on August 1.

As the officer approached the woman, he noticed a dog on the loose barking furiously.

He asked the lady, who was standing nearby: "Hello. Are you OK?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," the woman replies. The officer then asks her: "Is that your dog? Can you get him?"

He then steps back and pulls out his hand gun, firing multiple shots at the canine.

This sparks a reaction from the woman, who exclaimed: "What the f***" and then shouted "Oh my God!" before collapsing on the grass.

Police, fire crews and emergency medical services arrived to the scene and the woman was rushed to hospital.

The lady, identified as 30-year-old Margarita Brooks, died from a gun shot wound to the chest.

The animal suffered a bullet graze, according to a police report.

The dog has since been quarantined at the Arlington Animal Shelter.

The Arlington Police Department are continuing to carry out investigations into the incident.

The officer who committed the shooting has since been placed on paid administrative leave.

Mum distraught after daughter brands her 'worst mummy in the world'

A stay-at-home mum burst into tears after her daughter branded her the 'worst mummy in the world' on her last day of school.

Tracy Carr had gone to meet her daughter on her final day at primary school a few weeks back.

In a blog post on Mummy Pages Tracy said she was nervous as the day approached as she felt everything was moving too quickly in her daughter'slife.

She wrote: "The past week has felt like a strange one to say the least. There have been a few changes taking place in our house and normally when this happens, when we go through some sort of a change to the routine, I have a tendency to feel like this for a few days.

"So what happened this week in particular? Well my daughter was going into her last week of school before breaking for the summer holidays and instead of looking forward to it and feeling excited like I thought I was supposed to, I was feeling nervous and out of sorts.

"I am happy for her to get her holidays of course but I just can’t believe that the year has come to an end already.

"Why is everything happening so quickly?"

When the day came she saw her little girl happily walking out with "two bulging folders of all the artwork she had done throughout the year" - but then things went quickly downhill.

As the entire school poured out after a half day flocks of children headed towards the park and she her daughter and her little sister followed in a cloud of euphoria.

The youngsters were "laughing, running, climbing and swinging off monkey bars like nothing else mattered in the world," she wrote.

But suddenly dark clouds came overhead and Tracy said she could see they were about to be soaked with a downpour.

She wrote: "These showers had been coming thick and fast recently so we knew we had to move with speed. I grabbed my two-year-old and shouted to her sister to hurry as the drops of rain began to hit our heads.

"We had no coats so I started running towards our house which is just a five minute walk from the park, my toddler in my arms. My daughter followed but she was furious that she was leaving so soon."

The little girl shouted at her mum and demanded to know why she had not brought her car.

Tracy carried on running but tried to explain saying it had been sunny when she left so decided to walk.

But that wasn't good enough for her daughter, who responded with: 'Well you are the worst Mummy in the world.'

When they got in she said she sorted them out into dry clothes but then gave her daughter a ticking off and informed her that she was having no TV or treats for the rest of the day.

But moments after her daughter walked off, her head hung low, she burst into tears admitting to herself she did not think she was 'that emotional.'

Yet despite her upset, Tracy takes huge positives and says her little girls are the "keepers of my heart" that she would do anything for.

She wrote: "I didn’t cry when I saw  Titanic  – I didn’t even cry on my wedding day. But these girls know how to bring me to my knees and reduce me to tears at times.

"So I'm learning to roll with the parental punches. As mums and dads we have no other choice, do we? Because I have no doubt there will be many more of them down the road."

Ubi Franklin remembers his late father 15 years after

Ubi Franklin has took to his instagram page to pen down a touching tribute to his late dad, Justice Ofem 15 years after.He wrote;

''There is an indescribable amount of grief after losing a father. Losing a father often means losing a protector, a guiding hand, a best friend, and a superhero. But focusing on all the incredible memories you shared and the amazing man that you were can help bring light into our darker days.

This man lived well, laughed often and loved much, who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children, who has filled his niche and accomplished his task. who leaves the world better than he found it, who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it, who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
May God Rest your soul Always❤️
Love you Dad
15 Years today.''

Stop saying yes to everything and everyone, Dayo Amusa advices

The actress has shared an interesting advice to her followers on her instagram page. According to her, it is better to stop saying yes to everything and everyone. Her words;

''* Stop saying yes to everything and everyone. Stop agreeing with people just so you don't upset them. You are not a pushover. You were not born to be stressed & miserable so others can be relaxed & happy.

* Start protecting your time & your happiness. If others can't handle it, kick them out & don't look back. Don't ever feel bad for making a decision about your own life that upsets others. You are not responsible for their happiness but yours. Anyone who wants you to live in misery for their happiness should not be in your life to begin with. * The world owes us nothing. We are where we are because of our decisions, not because of our circumstances.

* Stop whinning and start taking responsibility of yourself. You have the power in you to overcome anything that life throws at you. There is nothing as helpful as a made up mind. Surround yourself with people who remind you that you matter & support you in the ways that matter most to you. No Person, Situation or Circumstances can define you. * Be big & bold enough to say THIS IS MY LIFE!!! and am responsible for it.
* * #justmyviewwithdayoamusa #JMVWITHDAYOAMUSA''

Very few men can manage successful women –Ara

Female talking drummer, Ara, is of the opinion that not all men have the capacity to handle successful women. Speaking on why many female artistes choose to be single mothers, she had said, “It is largely a personal decision for any of us who finds herself in that category. It’s deep because most female artistes tend to date and get married to their managers. Then, they later get to find out that they cannot mix business with pleasure. Your manager cannot be your husband.

However, there are some exceptional cases, such as Azeezat and Seyi Allen. When I talk to my colleagues, I realize that we still want to be loved and married. I personally believe in the marriage institution, and most of my colleagues that I interact with are of the same opinion. But nobody wants to stay in a bad relationship.

Very few men can manage a successful woman. It takes a self-confident and God-fearing man to be with a popular and successful woman. And this is not just about entertainment; it also applies to women who are successful in other fields. It is a major issue, trust me.”

COZA: Board of Trustees member, Pastor Banigbe quit

A member of the Board of Trustees of the Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo’s Commonwealth of Zion Assembly has quit. Pastor Obafemi Banigbe sent a letter to Fatoyinbo, resigning as a registered member of the board of trustees with immediate effect. He anchored his exit on personal reasons.

A copy of the letter was sent to the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Because of the timing of the letter, July 19, there have been speculations that Banigbe quit because of the rape allegation against the church’s leader and Chairman of the Board of trustees, Fatoyinbo.

But Banigbe gave a different reason, saying he had been a passive member of the board since 2008 because he has been working and living outside Nigeria.
