This is a hard letter to write as i am pretty sure I will cry my way through this post. I know i should have said all these a long time ago, but back then, i was just weak and could not think straight because i was busy struggling to make things right the best possible way within and even beyond my capacities.
A friend of mine asked me the other day if I had written a goodbye letter to my former life, my memories, my ex. When she brought the idea up, I got immediate chills and a touch of anxiety. I wonder why that is.
I used to have a very different life. I had a husband and a family. I had someone who lived here and i felt loved me full time. I had a future I was counting on. A lifetime of companionship, family vacations, milestones, laughter, and love but all to no avail as i felt deflated for many years and now its all gone.
In the past, I have blogged about stuff as it comes up, but no real goodbyes yet.
Many times i felt miserable on the inside and cried my life out day and night in my room alone but as time went on, i outgrew the my reality i was passing through the years.
I want to use this medium to thank my ex-husband for not prolonging the hardship and now i have to face the world on my own. Our son will forever be a representation of you in my life.. Thank you for the lessons you taught me over the years. I wasn’t sure what to write, who to write to or what my angle would be.
But I know who I need to say goodbye to now with certainty.
Lastly, without hate or animosity, i look back at the past five years and all i can do is thank you. Thank you for the good times, for the hard times. Thank you for helping to shape the strong person I am today and for being a part of my life for a small slice of time. 😊😊😊

The couple arrived in Positano on the Amalfi Coast after flying to the country by private jet from their native California the previous day.

Some residents of Idimu in Lagos State on Wednesday protested, following the alleged killing of a popular ‘land owner’s child (omo-onile), Ahmed Segun by a policeman.
The alleged killing was said to have occurred around 9:30pm on Tuesday at Council bus stop, but violence erupted on Wednesday morning, with youths burning tyres and vandalising belongings.
Trouble was said to have started after Segun, 32, and yet-to-be identified policemen disagreed over the sharing of the money extorted from commercial drivers, tricycle operators and motorcyclists.
But the police command said findings from sources alleged that Segun, alias Iron Body, was shot by a mobile policeman, whose whereabouts was yet to be ascertained.
It added that it received a distress call around 9pm that some hoodlums attacked a car shop and attempted to set it ablaze.
The deceased, said to have earned the nickname Iron Body for always fighting, it was gathered, felt displeased at the action of the policemen and obstructed further attempts to seize some motorcycles.
He was said to have brought some of his friends, who resisted attempts by the police to seize the motorcycles, and in order to get out of the situation, one of the policemen fired shots and stray bullets hit Segun.
A witness told The Nation that the policemen were from Idimu Division, saying they fired the shots to escape from the angry miscreants.
He said: “The issue was between the agbero (motor touts) and the police. They fought because of the money they usually collect from danfo (mini bus) drivers and okada riders (commercial motorcyclists).
“When the policemen attempted to forcefully seize some motorcycles, some agbero challenged the police officers and in order to move out because of the crowd, the police officers started shooting and stray bullets hit one of the leaders of the agbero.
“It was in the night and there was no way I would have seen the name of the policemen who shot. It happened around 9:45pm and there was traffic.
“The police officers were shooting anyhow. They are from Idimu Police Station. I don’t know how many police officers were involved, but I can tell you that some of the agbero sustained injuries.”
The hoodlums disrupted activities in the area for several hours yesterday and attempted to burn down public facilities.

A diet endorsed by US pop singer Beyoncé "could be dangerous," the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine has told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme.
Subscribers to the 22-day plan pay $14 to access plant-based recipes.
But nutritionist Daniel O'Shaughnessy says the diet could lead to "nutritional deficiencies".
Beyoncé's trainer Marco Borges said the singer was "mindful of the importance of proper nutrition and exercise".
The original diet was created in 2013 but the singer is now promoting Beyoncé's Kitchen, the plan she followed in preparation for her comeback performance at the 2018 Coachella festival after having twins.
A promotional video released on her YouTube channel last month opens with a clip from her Homecoming film, showing her stepping on to some scales and saying her weight is "every woman's worst nightmare".
The video has been viewed 1.7 million times.
Beyoncé also says to reach her goals she must limit herself to "no bread, no carbs, no sugar, no dairy, no meat, no fish, no alcohol… and I'm hungry". She followed the plan for 44 days.
Canadian police have found what they believe to be the bodies of two teenagers suspected of three murders.
Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, have been on the run since late July when three bodies, including those of an Australian-US couple, were found in northern British Columbia.
The teenagers were later seen 3,300km (2,050 miles) to the east, in Manitoba, where police concentrated their search.
The two bodies were found near the town of Gillam on Wednesday.
"Hopefully this will help the families of the victims achieve a sense of closure," said federal Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police assistant commissioner Jane MacLatchy told media on Wednesday: "I'm confident it is them but to identify them officially and to be sure we have to go to autopsy."
Police say a motive for the murders is still unknown.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on Federal Government to release Mr Omoyele Sowore and 26 other protesters arrested on account of the #RevolutionNow protest on Monday.
The body stated that Sowore only exercised within the room of his civic rights.
NLC General Secretary, Dr Peter Ozo-Eson in a statement on Wednesday said the right to peaceful protests, assembly and association are fully guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under sections 39 and 40.
According to him, the NLC view the violent attack on the peaceful protesters by security forces as a total violation of their fundamental rights as guaranteed by the constitution.
“Besides, peaceful protests against perceived anti-people government policies is one of the critical fundamental rights that expands the entrenchment and growth of democracy.
“Sowore and other protesters were not carrying arms against the state and we, therefore, demand their immediate release unconditionally.”
