How Peace Mass Transit boss, Maduka Onyishi returned N2.2b mistakenly paid into his account

Leading transporter and Managing Director of Peace Mass Transit (PMT), Dr Maduka Onyishi, at the weekend displayed a rare feat of fear of God and exhibition of honesty and integrity, by returning a whopping sum of N2,219,500,000 which was overpaid into his account by the First Bank.

The amount was refunded by the business mogul in the presence of the press and other stakeholders.

A cheque bearing the overpaid amount was received on behalf of First Bank by the Business Manager, Commercial Banking, Mr Kokelu Ben and the Branch Manager, Unity Bank, Enugu Branch, Mrs Ifeoma Eleanya.

Explaining how he made discovery of the huge sum in his First Bank account, Onyishi said that he had requested for $3m from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN through Unity Bank PLC only to be paid $10m instead, which is about N3,219,500,000 representing an excess of N2,219,500,000.

He said: “The amount they paid in was N3,219,500,000 but my own money there is N1,000,000,000 so the balance is not my money. I said that I cannot invest this money and be gaining from another person’s money and I can’t also keep it. I can’t keep $7m Dollars that doesn’t belong to me.

“I told my bank to pay money into my account that I want to take 3 million dollars and they paid ten Million Dollars instead. I called them and informed them that the amount they paid to me was more than the amount I requested. They told me that the ten million Dollars was my money.

“I was angry with them. I asked them how come I have this kind of money and I’m not aware of it. I asked them how come they went ahead to invest my money without telling me so that I can use my money and then I can know how much I have.

“I told them that they have failed to give me a statement of my account even when I have demanded for it severally. I discovered later that the amount was even more than what we are talking about because there was another person I asked the bank to pay money to whom they even paid extra.

“I made enquiries and they told me that I should wait until when it is time for banks to do reconciliation, they will discover whether the fault was from First Bank, Central Bank or Unity Bank. I waited for a whole month and no one called me. I told the devil that he is a deceiver and a liar. He knows that I need money now that is why this thing is happening now.

“That’s why I said, let me invite First Bank and Unity Bank and also invite journalists. I said let me give the money to First Bank, if they find out that the money is mine, they should return it. If it belongs to Unity Bank or CBN give it to them. If it is your own, keep it. So I am giving this money to you to keep on trust.”

He called on the management of CBN, Unity Bank and First Bank to look into the origin of the money and such leakages could come with dire consequences for any commercial institution.

60-year old escapes lynching after allegedly defiling four-year old in Benue State (photo)

A 60-year-old patent medicine dealer, who allegedly defiled a four-year-old girl (name withheld) in Otukpo town in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue state at the weekend, narrowly escaped being lynched by an angry mob.

The suspect, Clement Ikechukwu Ogenyi, now in police net was believed to have lured the minor into his room and had carnal knowledge of her few days ago.

Daily Trust gathered that the victim was earlier sent to buy Vitamin C tablets from the suspect’s medicine store close to her home when the incident happened.

A relative of the minor had narrated that the unpleasant way which the girl walked back home prompted further probe that led to the discovery of her defilement, adding that the actual incident happened on Tuesday while the man was arrested on Friday.

“When the girl came home on Tuesday, we discovered she was walking funny. So, I took her inside my house and checked her after she revealed to me that Ikechukwu, popularly known as Ad’Egbo’ (meaning Baba Igbo), kissed and touched her mouth and private part with his pen!s,” the source said.

The relative added that the alleged r-pist, when confronted, denied but stressed that the delay in reporting the matter to the vigilante on Friday occurred as a result of intervention by a friend of the suspect who wanted a medical examination carried out on the victim.

But soon after the matter became public knowledge, an angry mob almost lynched the suspect as further revelations suggested that he had molested other minors in the neighbourhood in the past but the vigilante’s insistence to handover the matter to the police saved his life.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state command, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed that the suspect was already in custody of the police in Otukpo. Anene said the suspect would be transferred to the command’s headquarters as soon as possible for further investigation and trial.

Baby shower is an invitation to witches – Counsellor

Ghanaian marriage Counsellor, Dr Mrs Charlotte Oduro has described baby shower as demonic and an invitation to witches.

“When ladies marry these days they do not think about prayer. They think about the bridesmaids they will get, the best men they will get and later the baby shower…I don’t know where that thing is coming from. Now we are picking the foreign things and we inviting witches around”, she revealed on Asempa Fm.

She observed that there are a lot of challenges in marriages lately because couple prefer to rely on other things and put God aside and focus on the irrelevant things.

“We are putting Christ aside and we are leaving our lives that is why we are seeing what we are seeing because we think God doesn’t exist again. We think we have our right to do what we are doing…my dear before you came to this world God was already there”, she said.

“Marriage is not for babies…marriage is for people who are ready to sacrifice. Marriage is for people who are prepared to support each other and go through the worse together. Christians are taking out the long suffering part of marriage”, she further said.

Robbers invade police barracks in Delta State

Residents of the ‘B’ Police Barracks along the Benin-Onitsha expressway in Asaba, Delta State have raised the alarm of incessant robbery attacks on them in recent times.

Some of the residents, who spoke to Sunday Sun on the condition of anonymity, lamented that hoodlums were coming to the barrack almost at night to rob them of their belongings.

They said the hoodlums are taking advantage of the darkness at the barrack occasioned by lack of electricity supply to perpetuate their criminal activities.

Sunday Sun learned that the transformer serving the barrack was vandalized about two months by yet to be identified persons who also made away with the cables.

“Since then, robbers have been coming here to dispossess us of our property. We have lost power generating sets, handsets laptops and personal effects to the dreaded thieves,” a female resident said.

According to her “there is uncleared vegetation at the other side of the barrack, through which they gain access to the barrack. They have been tormenting us lately. They come through the bush, and because there is no power supply, everywhere is always dark, so we cannot see them coming in.”

Another resident who also spoke, said they have contributed N3,000.00 each to fix the vandalized transformer, adding that since the donation was made over a month ago, nothing has changed.

“Our lives are under serious threat as a result of darkness which the hoodlums are taking advantage of. We are very worried at the moment. We have not heard anything since we contributed money to fix the vandalized transformer,” the source disclosed.

But another source who also lamented the precarious security situation said the robberies were being orchestrated from inside, pointing out that some over-aged children of resident police officers are still staying at the barrack.

“My brother, the situation is terrible but there are some children who are above 18 years that are still around. This is not proper. I suspect that the pockets of robberies we are experiencing are orchestrated by these young residents.

“So we are appealing to the management of the state police command to investigate this matter and save us from the hands of these tormentors,” the source pleaded.

Reacting, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeyinka Adeleke dismissed the issue of incessant robbery attacks on the residents but admitted that the barrack has been in darkness due to the vandalized transformer.

Nigeria facing security challenges because men turned from God to homosexuality, lesbianism - Emir of Gwandu

The Emir of Gwandu and the Chairman Kebbi Council of Chiefs, Muhammadu Bashar, has attributed the current security challenges in the country to the way in which Nigerians have been ignoring God’s commands and adopting “satanic behaviours.”

The Emir said such satanic behaviours include rampant homosexuality, r-pe and lesbianism, which were causative factors of insecurity in the country. The monarch made the observation while addressing his subjects after Eid-el-Kabir prayer in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

“The society today is bedevilled by cases of r-pe, homosexuality, lesbianism, kidnapping and rampant killings, which resulted into the present insecurity Nigeria is faced with,” he said.

He charged the general public, especially parents, to instill discipline and respect in their children by giving them sound education.

“I give glory to God for giving us the opportunity to witness another Sallah. The present ills in our society is also due to indiscipline and too much love for material wealth,” he said.

Bashar warned that unless the people fear to sin against God and parents remain committed to imbibing good family values, the country would continue to face instability.

The Emir also called on the people to be compassionate and supportive to the needy, saying that those who were able to sacrifice animals during the Eid should endeavour to share the meat with the poor and other needy persons.

Again, armed robbers invade another university of Ibadan female hostel, cart away laptops, phones

Armed robbers in the early hours of this morning, August 11, 2019 invaded the Abdusalami Abubakar Postgraduate Hall, University of Ibadan and carted away belongings such as laptops, phones, cash and other valuables.

They had tied up the security guards before gaining access to the rooms. According to the students, their room doors where axed down. This is the second time a hall of residence in the campus will be robbed in just one month. The first was Obafemi Awolowo Hall right on campus. Two students who spoke about the incident narrate it thus;

''They came in around 2 am. They were about seven. They were paired in twos, moving from a room to another, collecting people’s phones and laptops. They knew about this hostel, and they were so comfortable. They had time to operate.

''They tied up our security man. One of the two males who were alarmed and decided to come from their block to see the situation was macheted on the head and the other received a cut on his hand.''

The second said;

''They had a struggle entering into the hostel because the security in New Hall is actually tight. The bang we heard when the door was axed down already told us that something was coming for us. But we didnt know what it was and we were wondering where the securities and potters were at this time.

''On the ground floor where I stay only two rooms were not affected, the rest were. I don’t know what happened on the first floor, but so far, I’ve heard that three rooms were affected.''

Good s-x does not make good marriage, Obiwon warns

Former singer, Obiora Obiwon has explained what a good marriage is actually based on. According to Obiwon, it is not based on good sex, nor is it based on having enough money. Educating Nigerians on instagram, he wrote;

''In my little years married and from what I've seen, I realise:

1. Money does not make a good marriage

2. Great sex does not make a good marriage

3. Children do not make a good marriage

Surely these three things enhance marriage but they do not form the foundation. I opine that ultimately a good marriage is made of:

1. Two friends .

2. Fully and mutually yielded to God .

3. Fully and mutually submitted to each other; yielding humbly and unselfishly to one another - daily.

That to me is the foundation that withstands every thing in the world and the imperfections of our human nature. After these then the first 3 can be added as the icing on the cake. If you're reading this. My prayer for you is this foundation! Solid as a rock!

Nothing special. Just to say I love you @nkechisgram''

RMD speaks on being a victim of abuse

Actor and former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State, Richard Mofe-Damijo popularly known as RMD has lamented how he was abused by those who had easy access to him.

Sharing his experience with The Sun, RMD recounted how he often got requests from people who wanted to have relationship with him in different capacities.

“I never take it lightly, which is why I’m usually not quick to jump in on mentoring or being a father or brother figure, because I have been a victim of relationship abuse where people take their unlimited access to me for granted, forgetting that relationship is a currency.

“Relationships, irrespective of what type, have the power to serve as a capital. There are relationships that give you leverage, some people have gotten ahead in life because of who they married, who they worked with or for. One respected person’s endorsement could do more than financial capital, so it is important not to enter into relationship with the intent of giving nothing in return, there’s no way that would work, you must be willing to service whatever relationship you have,” he said.

RMD added: “Be skillful in relationship building by being selfless, unassuming and not feeling self-entitled. Respect boundaries, don’t be a user, be humble, accountable and have integrity. Have respect, more for yourself than the one you latch on to, because it is self-respect that restrains you from behaving in ways that put you in bad light.”

The Duke of York, Prince Andrew accused of groping young woman’s breast

The Duke of York, Prince Andrew has been accused in court documents of touching a young woman’s breast at a Manhattan mansion.

It is believed the incident took place at the mansion of Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier who is facing federal s-x trafficking charges in New York.

The allegation surfaced in a cache of legal papers unsealed by a US judge in a defamation case involving a British socialite, who is alleged to have supplied Epstein with underage girls.

Ghislaine Maxwell, a British socialite and media heiress is accused of procuring underage girls for Epstein and his circle of ‘rich and powerful friends.’

Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre sued Maxwell in 2015, after she alleged he defamed her by claiming she was a liar.

She also claimed that Epstein coerced her into s-xual encounters with Prince Andrew.

In the legal documents, released on Friday, Johanna Sjoberg, another alleged Epstein victim, said Andrew touched her breast while sitting on a couch inside the billionaire’s Manhattan apartment in 2001. Buckingham Palace denied the allegations, calling them ‘categorically untrue’.

In the court documents, Ms Sjoberg said: ‘I just remember someone suggesting a photo, and they told us to go get on the couch. And so Andrew and Virginia sat on the couch, and they put the puppet, the puppet on her lap.

‘And so then I sat on Andrew’s lap, and I believe on my own volition, and they took the puppet’s hands and put it on Virginia’s breast, and so Andrew put his on mine.’

The legal documents go on to claim that Ms Sjoberg was a ‘young college student’ who was approached by ‘perfect stranger’ Ms Maxwell, who ‘lured’ her to Epstein’s home with the promise of a ‘legitimate job’.

He could face trial soon.
