Nigeria, still in need of prayers- MFM's Olukoya

The Founder and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Daniel Olukoya, has said Nigeria can only overcome its problems with God’s intervention.

Olukoya said this on Sunday at the international convention and 30th anniversary of the MFM held at its Prayer City, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The event also had in attendance Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

According to Olukoya, if Christians could pray more, the country would be in a better position.

He said, “We need divine intervention as a nation but I’m a believer of one Nigeria and I believe God has a purpose for where we are. I keep telling people that if we look at the map of Africa, it looks like a gun and Nigeria is at the trigger end of it, so God has a purpose for us and I believe if Christians pray more and do what they should do, everything will be fine.”

Don’t negotiate with Kanu, youths tell South-East governors

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has said the popularity of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, came about because of President Muhammadu Buhari’s poor handling of the economy which exposed the citizenry to acute hardship.

The Igbo youth body said Kanu had seen the lapses in Buhari’s handling of the country’s affairs and decided to capitalise on it, adding that this development had given the IPOB the leeway to attack, without remorse, the country’s leadership.

According to OYC, if the President had administered the country properly and carried everybody along,  irrespective of tribe, nobody would have had the effrontery to castigate his government.

The Deputy President-General of the group, Obinna Achionye, stated this in a statement on Saturday.

The group noted that IPOB was merely deploying different strategies to draw the attention of the international community to itself, saying that the group lost its popularity before the 2019 general elections. It alleged that the group was being sponsored by politicians within and outside the country.

It said the group’s bid was to have a presidential candidate from the North-East emerge  as winner of the 2019 presidential election, the opposite of which had emboldened IPOB’s anger against Igbo governors.

The statement read in part, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide will expose all the commercial activities of the IPOB, as they have done more damage to Ndigbo than they appear to salvage the situation the Igbo currently find themselves since 2015.

“IPOB lost Igbo consciousness before the 2019 elections as they are doing the political bid of politicians outside Igbo land, which they started with a North-East presidential candidate.

“IPOB’s popularity before the 2019 elections waned when it destroyed its members’ Permanent Voter Cards and plotted the fall of Governors Umahi, Ugwuanyi and Ikpeazu.

“We urge the South-East governors to disregard any kangaroo committee set up to interface between them and the IPOB. There’s no reason for a backyard settlement until IPOB openly apologises to Ndigbo.

“When the South-East governors called its bluff over its antics, IPOB connived with enemies of Igbo to stage a failed revolution protest which was unsuccessful in the region.  Now they have resorted to a violent approach to do the bidding of a presidential hopeful from outside Igboland to bring down all presidential hopefuls in Igboland ahead of 2023.

“We know how a former minister from Anambra State persuaded a northern presidential candidate to use IPOB’s nuisance to hoodwink Igbos into voting for the politician after visiting Nnamdi Kanu in Isreal. Nevertheless, we urge South-East governors not to negotiate with Nnamdi Kanu. Their blackmail and settlement strategies are dead on arrival.”

Photo: TBoss finally confirms welcoming a child

TBoss has finally confirmed she was pregnant and infact, a s put to bed. She disclosed this on her instagram page explaining why she owe s no one an explanation, then confirmed she put to bed on the 7th of July. Her long explanation..

''What is it about our Generation that’s Always so eager to post up our private lives on Social Media?
We get Good news- SM, Not so good news- SM, Someone offends us, someone owes us money, breakups, new home, new car, new shoes, fake designer shoes, borrowed stuff- There’s Absolutely No Mystery anymore. You wanna know about a person? Just look up their SM pages & you’d get a pretty close picture of whom you’re dealing with.

I agree I’m not exactly social media compliant but I’m also guilty of sometimes putting more than I ought to have out there thereby subjecting myself to being misinterpreted, misquoted, misunderstood & highly misjudged.

And that’s why it was extremely difficult for me to keep my pregnancy all to myself.

I mean it was without a doubt The Best news I have ever had & God knows I wanted to shout it out so as to be heard to the ends of the earth BUT I had to 🤐...

Not because I was ashamed or nothing of the sort. Hey, I’m a Grown woman let’s be Real.
I was Afraid. I was afraid of exposing My best news to the negativity of little & sad minded people of which unfortunately happen to be a lot... I wanted to enjoy this journey, savor every little moment, understand what was happening to me, my body, keep my sanity for my good & the good of my unborn child.

Pregnancy is indeed a roller coaster ride and as Ecstatic as I was, it really hit me.

My friends all knew- if you didn’t oh well- maybe that’s your cue😏I went shopping & out a lot & took lots of photos with my beautiful fans - Selfies Only of course & never felt the need to cover up or hide anything- And why should I? Do you know the struggle a lot of women go through to get what I have? A Free Gift from God! And you think at 35 I ought to feel some type of way because someone has an unsolicited opinion about me? Ha Ha Ha... Silence is NOT denial.

My silence was just that: Silence- until I was ready to speak about it.

JAMB needs a mobile court so exam offenders can go to jail immediately- Ex Registrar

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board may soon partner law enforcement agencies in the country and the judiciary to set up mobile courts for the trial of examination fraudsters and offenders.

A former Registrar of the board, Prof Bello Salim, made this recommendation to the registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, in the JAMB bulletin released on Sunday.

The former registrar said, “Examination malpractice is a global malaise. The battle is ongoing; we haven’t won it. When you present examination malpractice suspects at the beginning of August, for instance, and a court hearing is fixed for the middle of October, the hearing is adjourned almost as soon as it starts to maybe January. The court process will thus keep dragging on.

“Let there be mobile courts just like the election tribunals to treat all cases of examination malpractices and other unwholesome practices promptly. We should have penalties that are enforceable. The prescribed seven-year jail term for anyone involved in examination malpractices should be enforced.”

My mum discouraged me from going into politics, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde reveals

The Governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde, has reiterated that his victory in the last governorship election in the state was solely by the support of God.

He said his mother did not encourage him to join politics due to her belief that Nigerian politicians were ungodly persons.

The governor stated this during his family thanksgiving service at the St. David’s Anglican Church Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure, Ondo State capital on Sunday.

The governor, who was accompanied by some members of the Oyo State Executive Council and some leaders of the state Peoples Democratic Party, also declared that he had no godfather anywhere as candidate of the PDP, saying the Almighty Himself supported him all the way.

He said, “I am standing before you that I am a testimony of an individual getting into the position of the governor of a state without any godfather apart from the Almighty.

“When I wanted to go into politics, my two mothers, Mama Akure and Mama Ibadan,  doubted me. They called me late in the night and told me in Akure and Ibadan dialects that if politicians give you anything, do not take.

“They said this because of their belief that no godly person should go into politics. If my mother can doubt me, it means I should not worry if an outsider does the same.

“But I am standing here before you to say that a godly person can go into politics and do well.”

EFCC traces Atiku’s laundered money to Obasanjo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has extended to Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, its investigation of the laundered 150 million euros cash-for-poll by associates of former vice-president Atiku Abubakar.

It was learnt that the investigators went to the Library on August 8 to authenticate the claims by one of those under probe that he gave $140,000 (about N50 million) to one of the library officials.

According to reports, the EFCC officials, accompanied by policemen, combed some offices at the former President’s Library.

It could not be confirmed whether any document was taken away by the operatives, but nobody was arrested.

“Our operatives went to the library with some riot policemen in anticipation of a possible resistance. But there was none.We did our job lawfully without any inhibition. We are still investigating the case. We are screening some documents in our possession on the matter, ” an EFCC investigator told The Nation.

The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library was opened on March 4, 2017. It is a historic, tourist and academic centre established as a national archive for the preservation of documents and materials used by the President during his tenure between 1999 and 2007.

Iranian women can now watch World Cup qualifier, first time since 1979

Iranian female fans will be allowed entry into the stadium to watch men’s football World Cup qualifying match coming up in October in the Islamic Republic.

The official IRNA news agency, quoted a Sports Ministry official as saying on Sunday, following heightened pressure from FIFA.

Though foreign women have had limited access to matches in Iran, Iranian women however, were banned from the stadium when male teams are playing, since the Islamic revolution in 1979.

FIFA wrote to the Iranian Football Federation in June, asking it to provide a timeline for women to be able to buy tickets for the qualifiers, or face consequences.

“Women can go to Tehran’s Azadi stadium to watch the match between Iran’s national team and Cambodia in October, for the Qatar World Cup qualifier,” IRNA quoted deputy Sports Minister Jamshid Taghizadeh as saying.

The AFC, the Asian football governing body, which has 47 members including Iran, said on Tuesday it was working to help world soccer governing body FIFA, find an “amicable solution” that would allow Iranian female fans to attend future games in Iran.

Abducted Catholic bishop regains freedom

A prominent Catholic bishop in Cameroon has been released by his abductors in the country’s volatile English-speaking Northwest region.

“Bishop George Nkuo of Kumbo Diocese has been released by his captors. He is back in the parish and in good health,” the officials said in a statement.

Armed separatists claimed responsibility for kidnapping the bishop last week, claiming that they “wanted him to pray and bless us.”

The abduction came barely a week after two Catholic priests were kidnapped in the region.

Kidnapping of priests has become widespread in the region since an armed conflict started in 2017.

Kwara Governor, Abdulrazak mourns as 17 Kwara Post-UTME students die in auto-crash

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara on Sunday lamented the death of 17 students in an auto crash on their way back to the state from Kano after their Post-UTME screening.

AbdulRazaq in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, described the incident as a painful one that could have been prevented.

He, therefore, commiserated with the parents and families of the students and prayed God to avert such calamity in future.

“We, however, believe that we can avoid this calamity in the future. We reiterate our calls on the drivers to always check their speed, respect other road users, and put their vehicles in the best condition.

“Most accidents occur because our drivers often fail these three basic tests of safe driving.

“Besides, we call on our tertiary institutions, which still require students to travel long distance for their post-UTME examination to please consider holding such test online to avert the necessity of travelling.

“This will not only reduce travelling and attendant risks, but also encourage students to embrace and excel in computer literacy, a sine-qua-non for success in the 21st century,” the governor said.

The 17 students died in an auto accident when their Toyota Haice bus with registration number AGL337 XA had head-on collision with a DAF Articulated Truck.

The accident occurred at about 12.35 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 at Bacita junction in Kwara.

Prince Andrew’s statement on paedo Jeffrey Epstein branded ‘arrogant, disingenuous and dishonest’

Prince Andrew's statement on billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein has been branded "disingenuous and dishonest" by a Royal author.

The Duke of York's private life has been under intense scrutiny following Epstein’s suicide while awaiting trial for allegedly running a child s-x ring.

Yesterday he broke his silence to express "tremendous sympathy" for Epstein's victims in a lengthy statement issued by the Palace.

Angela Levin, a royal author, blasted the statement as "staggeringly arrogant, disingenuous and dishonest".

She wrote in the Mail On Sunday: "Besides expecting our Royals not to hang around with paedophiles, we also expect them to be honest. This whole statement reeks.

"Does Andrew really expect us to believe that someone he did not know well and only saw infrequently was invited into the Royals' inner sanctum?

"Andrew simply cannot escape the fact that he stayed with Epstein once he was already on the sex offender register after serving time inside for s-xual abuse.

"If he really had such 'tremendous sympathy' he would speak to US authorities about what he knows of his former friend. Actions speak far louder than words."

Adebayo Shittu speaks about his disappointment of not getting a ministerial appointment for the 2nd time

The former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has revealed he was shocked when his name was not included on President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial list.

Shittu who for first time spoke about his disappointment that he didn’t make the cut as second term minister, said he took the exclusion as his fate, as a muslim..

“I took it the way it came,” he said.

“Of course, I expected that I will be re-appointed (as minister) but when it didn’t happen, as a Muslim, it didn’t take me five minutes before I accepted what has come. It’s the will of God.

“And I have also found comfort in a Quranic verse when God promised that what is to come later is better than what is with you now.

“So for me, it says we must accept that there is always something better with God which he gives to his beloved.

“I see myself as a beloved of God.

“I have come a long way and I have served at the state and national levels and the experience that I have garnered over the last three and half years cannot be purchased from the stores or from the market,” he said.

He said as a public officer, one must always have it in one’s mind that “whatever has a beginning will necessarily have an end.”

“And it is not how long one stays in public office but how well you are able to distinguish yourself,” he said.

The ex-minister, who is a legal practitioner, said he had decided to fall back to his profession.
